I'm much better at keeping ideas I like in my head (I usually work over them for a few hours to a few days, then either run with them or toss them), and I just end up letting the rest waste away. I get some pretty stupid ideas sometimes (Code Geass/Psychic Detective Yakumo crossover, anyone? <_<

and if I indulge them I'll end up starting to like them, so this sort of process of elimination is necessary for me.

And while I'm not sure exactly why, I haven't touched any Portal game. So assuming that quote is related, the relevance of it went over my head.

It is. xD Basically, its the sarcastic AI in charge of Aperture Laboratories commenting on how some other characters managed to get her removed power, and then install another AI that's crazier than her. Coming from the AI that tried to kill everyone in the room within sixteen picoseconds of her activation, that's kind of... saying something, methinks. xD;;

It's entirely possible, but I find it difficult to believe there was no way to ensure Witchification as an inevitable ending. Still, I guess it's not 100% impossible that the Soul Gem doesn't provide a constant drain.

For the "first witch" thing, I have a vague idea that I'm not sure will ever become a fic, so I'm tossing it up for grabs to whoever wants it:

The Incubators took a mentally ill (i.e. capable of feeling emotions) young female of their species (I'm making the assumption that the Incubators have sexes here, bear with me), gave her magical powers, then deliberately drove her to despair so she'd become a witch and begin the cycle.

Unless I'm mistaken, wasn't it outright said that the magic required to become a Puella Magi existed solely in humans (they "found" magic when they found humans, after all)? If after all I'm wrong, this could actually be a possible origin story for Walpurgisnacht; a Puella Magi fundamentally different than any other Puella Magi became a Witch fundamentally different than any other Witch.

Barring the inconsistency in the discovery of magic, that actually sounds like a cool idea.

No. QB explains they can turn emotions into energy that transcends the laws of the universe (aka, magic) and it doesn't matter where those emotions come from. They just choose humans, and specifically girls, because they are more emotional and so made a more efficient source of energy.

That's also explain why someone with a lot of magical potential would be just a kid who has suffered a painful life, as QB explained in episode 11 to Homura. The more taught your life was before making a contract with QB, the more potential you would have.

In the end, magic itself doesn't exist. It's just QB converting your emotions into magic. And you don't even have to be a girl, or a human. That also explains why QB wasn't too concerned about Gretchen destroying the world in timeline 4. They could always try with a different species.

Ah, that's right; I was sure he didn't put it as clearly as I was remembering, but I couldn't recall for the life of me what it was he specifically said. Thank you for clearing that up.

Honestly, that would probably be the least of your problems. You'd also need to figure out how Shirou/Archer would meet the magical girls and how Shirou, at least, would get his hands on Rule Breaker; not to mention, you'd need a way for one of the girls to tell him or Archer how much the magical girl life sucks, which would urge them to save them.

-God, I love when I can write something like this off the top of my head.

-I already know what Chell's wish will be; to spend more time with her parents. I also think I had a stroke of genius in regards to how it backfires horribly; if you're familiar with a certain revelation from Portal 2 and a certain theory regarding Chell's origins, you might already know.

-I want to make Charlotte a kind of boss fight in this story. Really, I do.

I was going to take a look at this, but that A/N at the beginning daunted me.

As somebody who has not touched nor intends to touch anything NGE related, this is probably out of my field. Looked structurally sound though, if it helps any. <_<

Once again, I turn an offhand comment into a story. The surnames may have been changed, but the characters haven't, even if it required some literary gymnastics to get everything to fit, even changing the way magic works. Since it was essentially a crossover story with the crossover elements (mostly) excised. I had to destroy everything.

Yet, I had to connect everything. If the story was written in kanji, its title would be 法少女まどか☆マギカ. It also shows my interpretation of Charlotte as sort of like Hideyoshi from Sengoku Otome. But I just like doofy characters as heroes in general.

This is Puella Consulti Madoka Magica.

I'm preparing to do a big megacrossover after watching Madoka Magica and the classic movie Grand Prix back to back.

Thinking of calling it Formula Magica. All the glamour and greatness of the world's most exciting drama of magic and speed!

And this isn't just some kind of AU where they're all racing drivers, this is magical girls (and a few boys), WITH powers, driving. Stops include Misora, the Silver Millennium, and of course, Mitakihara.

Kyuubey is still a bad boss, drivers battle at speeds greater than cars today and there are hybrids powered by Soul Gems instead of batteries.

This plotbunny is already growing; I just need to write it all down.

Spoiler for Portal/PMMM crossover: The Aperture Employee Daycare Center was, undeniably, a gloomy sort of place for children. Though it went through the motions of being a childcare facility, with brightly colored toys and picture books, all the works, the lack of natural light and the simple fact that everyone was both miles underground and not a hundred meters from the neurotoxin control center (a layout decision someone had hopefully been fired over) let an sort of shadow fall over the place. It was almost like the elephant in the living room, especially with the scientists who had been “volunteered” to watch the children, who were constantly jittery from both the idea of watching so many young ones at once and the knowledge that they alone would be in charge of their evacuation if anything went wrong… which could happen all too easily. The general age of the children ranged from infancy to about four years of age, with a few older ones; children of scientists who couldn’t bear to leave them at a slightly less hazardous daycare farther away from work, or who somehow used their job as a way to “spend more time” with their little ones; so most of the older children would be taken on a tour by their parents while they were on break. Children older than about eleven were rare at the facility, though; once they were old enough to look after themselves at home, most parents decided not to run the risk. So, the oldest child currently at the daycare center, a girl with dark hair and eyes, was more or less the sole representative of her age group. As such, she was sometimes called upon to help the daycare volunteer de jour look after the other children. But not often. When her assistance was requested, she would obey, to the letter, without a word. Most days, however, she was an afterthought amongst the livier children. She would be in the corner, solving whatever puzzles she could find, and could occasionally be found thumbing through a very, very large book. She never seemed to draw attention to herself, never initiated interaction with anyone else, and never, ever said a single word. Her name was Chell. Chell was at the daycare almost every day, as her parents were both central parts of Aperture Science’s newest, biggest, and (for now) most successful project to date; a huge computer, they told her; the smartest, best computer there could ever be. Chell, to be honest, was a little curious as what, more precisely, about it got them so excited, but apparantly it was top secret for now. It kept them busy almost every day, and had caused them to fear they weren’t spending enough time with their daughter. So, they brought her to the daycare to try and be closer to her; and, recently they had promised, just be patient, and when the project is done they would all go on vacation together; to Disney World, no less. That had been really exciting; so Chell was determined to be patient. She would wait as long as it took. So there she was, day after day after day, always looking forward to the day she could finally spend time with her family again. One day, however, something was different. Chell was in her corner that day, as usual. She had a book that particular day; a big, heavy one with a bunch of short stories that were meant for high schoolers to study and analyze. There was a reason for her taste in complex, often confusing literature; when she was younger, one of her teachers had taken notice of her drive to do well in school. He had joked that Chell could probably be reading at a high school level in a few years if she wanted to. She had accepted that challenge. Then, a little voice said, “Chell? Chell Emerson?” Chell looked up, thinking it was the volunteer de jour wanting her for diaper duty. But Dr. Gamber, a nice lady who was (surprisingly) actually good with kids, was busy with story time on the other side of the room. “Over here!” Said the voice again, this time with a more definite direction. Chell looked to her right, and there, on the shelf, was a stuffed animal that had most certainly not been there a second ago. It looked something like a white cat with big, glassy red eyes and that benign, split-lipped smile that stuffed cats usually had; but a second pair of ears that extended from the first, cat-like set made her doubt that. The second pair looked more like the ears of a Collie dog, and faded from white to pink at the ends and were speckled with red dots. A halo hung from each ear, completely unsupported; that alone was suspicous. It wasn’t like any stuffed animal Chell had ever seen in the daycare, and after spending almost all of her free time here for several months, she knew what toys belonged here and which didn’t. Even more suspicous. Still, she was willing to chalk it up to a new experiment from the “lab guys.” At least, until Emily, a four year old girl with bouncy red curls and a love of stuffed animals (she carried her “companion bear,” Mr. Stuffles, everywhere, and constantly had a little kingdom of stuffed animals around her) ran right by the mysterious doll and didn’t even look twice. “What…?” Chell said, very softly; there was no way anyone could have heard it unless they were right next- “Oh, you don’t have to talk out loud, if you don’t want to.” Said the doll, and it was then Chell realized it was speaking directly into her mind. An adult, or even an older child, would at this point think they had lost their mind. But Chell still had that kind of innocence in her; the belief that things out of the ordinary could happen. Granted, her standard for “out of the ordinary” was set higher than most people’s, but that could be chalked up to practically living in Aperture Laboratories. Still, even a girl who had seen gels that could make you jump super-high, run super-fast, and a gun that fired portals could appreciate a warm, living thing that spoke human language through one’s thoughts and, apparantly, become unseen when it desired. So thought Chell as she picked up the mysterious doll- no, creature, a thousand questions racing through her mind at once, “Who are you?” “What are you?” “How do you know my name?” and “What do you want?” being the most prominent. “My name is Kyubey!” Oh, there was the thought-reading again, “I’m a Messenger of Magic, and I’m here, because I want you, Chell, to make a contract with me, and become a Puella Magi!” Thoughts: -God, I love when I can write something like this off the top of my head. -God, I hate that I can never write the projects I'm supposed to be working on off the top of my head like this. -I already know what Chell's wish will be; to spend more time with her parents.
