Vol8 Ch1
Silence after Kureha’s explosive comment. Jiro mentally gave a
Flat What. Out loud he said it’s impossible for Kanade to be in love with him. He thinks she’s practically a devil behind the façade of a model student and a complete sadist.
He asked Kureha why does she thinks that, and she said it’s a woman’s instinct. Jiro said that doesn’t convince him of her claim at all then. Kureha replied her ‘sixth sense’ is really accurate, like guessing what questions will show up in her maths exam or getting lucky buying snacks and getting the freebies she want. Jiro snarked how does that got anything to do with being a woman. Kureha mentioned her radar of sorts can find Jiro’s porn mags whenever she goes into his room, and Jiro immediately shot back her sixth sense is too dangerous. Jiro thought about it, and concluded Kureha’s instincts is quite good – when she watches boxing she can tell who will win just by observation, and she’s accurate about 90% of the time. Despite Kureha’s record however Jiro’s convinced she got it wrong this time, and Kanade can’t possibly be in love with him.
Kureha said Kanade seems happy whenever she’s with him, and Jiro says that’s just because she enjoys tormenting him. Kureha wasn’t convinced by Jiro’s reasoning. Jiro thought even if Kanade likes him it’s probably similar to liking a pet, he’s been thoroughly toyed with by Kanade.
Jiro told Usami to help him explain things to Kureha, since he’s sure with the bad relations between Kanade and Usami that Usami will agree with him. To his surprise, Usami doesn’t think that’s 100% impossible (though her words make it seem Usami’s trying hard to convince herself Kanade really isn’t in love with Jiro, and she’s never considered Kanade as a possibly rival).
Jiro then asked Subaru on what does he think, and Subaru said he doesn’t think Kanade is in love with him. Subaru’s still trying to comes to term with the implications of what that might mean if Kanade’s in love with Jiro yet she supports Subaru’s efforts to get closer to Jiro.
Ichigo came back from the hospital. She says the hospital says it’s only anemia physically speaking, but mentally there’s some complications. Jiro thought Kanade’s already abnormally sadistic, so what could it possibly be? Ichigo warned them to not be surprised when they meet with Kanade after she comes in.
Kanade comes in, and Jiro sees nothing out of the ordinary – still the same ‘ojou-sama’ appearance and cool&distant from others.
However – as soon as Kanade came into eye contact with Jiro she showed a childish smile and pounced onto Jiro, tackling him into the ground and nuzzled at him. His dog-suit might be well-ventilated and doesn’t make it too hot/cold, but the fabric is thin and he can feel the softness of Kanade’s body on him; his gynophobia’s acting up. Everyone else is stunned at Kanade’s sudden action.
Ichigo gently told Kanade that’s not a good thing to do, and she responded Jiro looked too cute so she had to hug him. The other girls with Jiro are stunned speechless, while Jiro gave another Flat What at being called that way.
Kanade then dropped a bombshell on all of them: she calls herself ‘Suzuchuki Kanade’, and is currently 8 years old. The way she talks is like a child (and painfully moe), hence her surname being bastardized. She doesn’t remember having met Jiro before today.
See here for illustrations on what Kanade looks like now and how she talks:

Vol8 ch2
Ichigo confirmed Kanade’s memories and mind have gone back to about 8 years old. Jiro thought of what Kureha was like back at that age, already a good fighter and wrestled a Golden Retriever 60cm bigger than her into the ground… then he thought now’s not the time to reminisce.
Jiro still think Kanade’s playing tricks on them, and asked Usami to confirm his suspicion. Usami can tell when others are lying after all. Usami says Kanade’s not lying, and after seeing the look on Jiro’s face she added she wasn’t bought off by Kanade either.
Kanade told Jiro not to worry. She understands she has a high school student’s body and have the mind of a 8 year old, and she’s confident this will pass eventually. Jiro thought that Kanade’s a smart girl even from way back then as a loli.
Kanade then asked who Kureha is. They go over how Kureha is familiar with Kanade to the point Kanade is called ‘onee-sama’.
Jiro whispered to Kureha of she’s alright with this, and Kureha said she’s fine with this; Kanade looks so adorable right now to the point people can’t help but want to hug her, and Kanade said this will pass so it’s alright. Jiro agreed with the adorable comment, as Kanade normally is a distant ojou-sama and this different aspect of her’s shows her in a new light (eg, Nakuru in the anime of the first season, last episode). Jiro notes Kanade is just like during the ‘Nyu!’ incident from before, the different side of her making his heart beat so fast.
While Jiro and Kureha is talking, Kanade asked Kureha why does she has to work when she’s a child as well. Kanade thought if Kureha calls her ‘onee-sama’ then they must be close in age. Kureha said she’s a high school student, and Kanade is surprised by that; Kureha seems so small and flat Kanade can’t quite believe it. Kureha went off the deep end being treated like a child. Jiro calmed Kureha down by patting her head.
Kanade got jealous of Kureha being so nicely treated by Jiro (going all “Mu~” with a pout) and wants Jiro to pat her on the head too. Jiro obliged, and saw Kanade smiling in content like a child. Jiro’s overwhelmed by the moe, and so happy that Kanade’s so innocent, and not a sadistic, devil-like creature right now he’s
almost brought to tears.
Subaru on the sidelines is making sounds of discontent. Jiro was expecting to be chastised by doing inappropriate things to Kanade but it turns out that Subaru’s jealous of Kanade being treated like that by Jiro. Kanade asked if Subaru wants a turn too, and both Jiro and Subaru blushed. Jiro blamed their kiss yesterday for their reaction. Ichigo got out something sharp and held it against Jiro’s back, asking him just what is he doing to Kanade. Kanade told Ichigo it’s fine.
Kanade asked who Usami is, then proceed to troll her with a handbook on how to take care of rabbits. It turns out Shure wrote that book and was going to troll Usami with that eventually, but Ichigo got that from her and gave it to Kanade. As a apology for going too far with Usami, Kanade gave Usami a ticket that says for one time only she’ll do whatever Usami tells her to.
It’s 10:30pm now, and Kanade’s getting sleepy. Kanade asked if Subaru wants to sleep with her, and both Usami and Kureha are shocked (to them Subaru’s a guy). Kanade then went on to give misunderstandings, like how they used to take baths together and stuff. Kanade asked if Kureha wants to join them and Kureha said that’s too stimulating for her.
Ichigo said that’s a bad idea, but then offered to take their place to sleep with Kanade instead. Jiro suspects Schigo wants to take advantage of the memory loss and do things to Kanade she won’t be able to do normally. Kanade rejected Ichigo’s offer, telling her she’s too scary and old – and that she knows Ichigo is planning something.
Kanade then asked if she can sleep with Jiro. Jiro felt four murderous stares stabbing into his back. He said Kanade’s a child and a child shouldn’t be sleeping with adults. Kanade pointed out her body’s not that of a child’s – Jiro responded by saying okay, he gets it, so stop emphasizing her chest like that.
Jiro countered by asking her to say her name. Kanade keep saying ‘Suzuchuki’ rather than ‘Suzutsuki’, and Jiro said peeple that can’t pronounce words right are children, so he can’t sleep with her. Kanade pulled out the big teary-eyed puppy-dog look, but Jiro refuse to cave. Kanade then decided if she’s treated like a child then she will use strategies fit for a child:
“Onii~chan, let’s sleep together~!”, said in the most moe voice Jiro had ever heard. Jiro thought from now on he’ll call Kanade ‘Derechuki’ instead. Kanade called him ‘Onii-chan’ a few more times, and he almost caved. He resisted, thinking if he falls here he’ll never be able to wash the lolicon label off himself. Subaru caved by Kanade’s antics and said he’ll allow Jiro to sleep with Kanade. Ichigo decided Jiro needs to become a eunuch before this can be allowed and got out her chainsaw, Kureha commented Jiro might have looked at her indecently at times, and Usami is convinced Jiro’s a lolicon.
Subaru said none of that’s necessary, and he’ll make sure nothing happens by sleeping with both Jiro and Kanade. Note Subaru said that with a embarrassed flush on her face.
Later, Kanade hopped onto the bed like a excited child. Jiro asks Subaru if this is really alright, and Subaru says this is the only outcome Kanade will accept. And she feels safer if she keeps a eye on them personally. Jiro mentally snarked he’s not seen as trustworthy at all, but concedes the point since he’s a high school male student.
Subaru’s wearing another version of the pyjama Jiro saw him in, Jiro’s in his dog-suit and Kanade’s in a one-piece dress type of pyjama. Jiro wondered doesn’t Kanade’s shoulder get sore wearing that. Kanade said Ichigo gave her something that will help people sleep, and Jiro found they’re handcuffs and some rope. Kanade explained Ichigo said they’re to put around your neck, and Jiro declined the rope. Kanade put the hand-cuffs on Jiro before he can do anything about it though.
Jiro asked why does Kanade wants to sleep with him anyway. Kanade says she always had wanted a dog, and proceed to hug him. Jiro’s cuffed, so he can’t escape, and he’s stuck between Kanade in front of him and Subaru behind him. Kanade told him to count sheep, and then fell asleep after Jiro counted to 3. Jiro wants to take this chance to go to sleep, with Kanade’s grip loosening around him making his gynophobia at a manageable level. However then Subaru asked from behind him why does he think Kanade has regressed into a child. Jiro couldn’t turn around and answer her partially because he’s cuffed up, and partially because he’s still nervous about the kiss. Subaru went on to say Kanade has problems/pressures that made her this way, and she was about to ask Jiro if it really is because Kanade loves Jiro then Kanade woke up.
Kanade asked if Jiro have problem getting to sleep. Jiro say that’s kind of right. Kanade said then she’ll give him a spell that’ll make him sleep easier – a kiss. Subaru came in at the last second to prevent Kanade kissing Jiro on the lips, and Kanade asked if she wants to kiss Jiro instead. Subaru blushed and agreed. Jiro thought that’ll probably keep him up all night if Subaru kissed him, but then Subaru says she has a better method. Kanade agreed to use that and Subaru pressed Jiro to her chest, making him faint with his gynophobia.
Before he completely lost consciousness, Jiro thought he enjoyed the softness of Subaru’s chest and tonight he’ll probably have sweet dreams.
Vol8 ch3
Breakfast time. It’s a western breakfast but Jiro prefers Japanese if he can help it, with things like rice and miso soup. He does drink milk though.
Today’s the day their high school is founded, so they get a holiday.
Kureha asks if Jiro is going to eat or not, and he finally started. Jiro’s extremely nervous because Kanade is sitting on his lap as they eat, and his gynophobia is acting up. Both Subaru and Usami is looking at him with a complicated expression. Kanade doesn’t notice that and tries to feed Jiro. Ichigo is trembling with anger/jealousy at Jiro. Jiro thought this will end up as a indirect kiss, and (not for the first time) he thought Derechuki right now is adorable and what could possibly have turned her into the sadistic ojou-sama he knew.
Breakfast is over, and Kanade has to go back to the hospital for another check-up. Kureha caught Jiro before he started and told him there’s actually more reasons than she gave last time that made her think Kanade is in love with him. Kureha handed him a pink envelope with his name on it, something that Kanade gave Kureha yesterday morning and asked her to give to Jiro a day later. Both Jiro and Kureha thinks this looks like a love letter. Jiro however thinks this must be a trap, and it might blow up on him like a grenade or something.
Kureha said Jiro can open it at his own pace then ran off, too embarrassed to stay and read it with Jiro. Jiro wants to open the letter but then Subaru came in asking what happened to Kureha for her to run off like that. Subaru saw the letter and at first thought Jiro had that kind of relation with Kureha. Jiro eventually got the point across that Kanade was the one that sent him this letter and Kureha was only responsible for the delivery.
Subaru’s shell-shocked that Kanade had that kind of feelings for Jiro. Jiro wants to prove Subaru wring and pulled out the letter and showed it to Subaru, confident this isn’t a love letter.
The letter only had one thing written on it: open the drawer on my desk.
Jiro and Subaru went back to Kanade’s room, but then found there’re three drawers in Kanade’s desk. A column of three.
Jiro opened the one on the very top, and found it’s stuffed to the brim with underwear. Subaru quickly kicked Jiro in the head and said he’s not allowed to look. Jiro thought it was too late, he had already memorised everything he had saw; adult-like lingerie, some of them had pretty erotic designs. Subaru found a note in the drawer, which said “unfortunately, you got the wrong one”.
Subaru opened the one under that. Jiro’s sure there’s probably won’t be another one filled with lingerie but he’s preparing himself just in case. They found a DVD in it, and a note saying “right answer”.
There’s a DVD player and a TV in Kanade’s room, so they thought this is a message for them and played the disc. Kanade starts off with a greeting, saying if Jiro found this disc then he had got her love letter. Subaru’s in tears after hearing Kanade’s real voice after all this time, and Jiro’s in a similar condition though for a different reason; Derechuki eventually grew up to be someone as horrible as Kanade, what kind of disaster happened to make it turn out this way?
Kanade in the TV asked him if he’s thinking something rude right now. Jiro’s surprised, and notes she’s so skilled to the point she can snark the future from the past.
TV!Kanade: “Well, it’s not like your rudeness is something that started recently.”
Jiro: “Mind your own business.”
TV!Kanade: “By the way, did you open the drawer on the very bottom?”
Jiro: “Of course not, this DVD was in the second drawer.”
TV!Kanade: “If you didn’t open that then it’s a shame, in it is filled with secret photos of Subaru.”
Jiro: “WHAT?!”
TV!Kanade: “Those are service shots of Subaru from back when we played with cosplay.”
Kanade’s smiling on the screen while Jiro’s cursing he should have gone for that first. Subaru’s amazed at how Jiro is talking with Kanade in the TV, and Jiro thought he’s surprised too; he’s snarked so much at Kanade he did it on reflex, and he notes this is a useless skill.
Kanade went on to say it’s time for the important matters. If she’s perfectly normal then stop this disc within 10 seconds, and forget everything that’s been shown so far. If there’s anything wrong with her then keep the disc playing.
Both Jiro and Subaru chose to continue the disc. Kanade said if they’re still watching then she’s probably like a child right now, and the doctors can’t find anything wrong with her. She explained she chose to revert to 8 years old herself. And Kanade asked didn’t they think it’s strange that she asked Usami to be employed despite she doesn’t get along well with her? The answer to that was this is a experiment; can Usami tell if she’s lying if she can even fool herself with a lie? From how things turned out, she guessed her experiment is somewhat a success. Kanade planned on falling down some stairs as a excuse for the memory loss, but the anemia is a good enough alternative.
Kanade planned on by the time Jiro got the letter she’s back to normal, but if they’re watching this disc right now that’s not the case. Kanade ordered Jiro to bring her back from being a 8-year old, there’s still a way to do so. Kanade’s stuck at that age is probably because there’s something she haven’t done yet, she’s not satisfied. Kanade asked Jiro to keep everything to himself, since she doesn’t want Subaru, Ichigo and Kureha to worry about her. Usami is her natural enemy, so that’s not possible too. Kanade didn’t expect Subaru to be there watching the disc with Jiro.
Kanade closes the video by saying she believes in him, and she’ll definitely be back to normal eventually. He’s her servant after all.
Jiro decides he’ll help, despite this is definitely not part of his job description. He asked Subaru to help him, and she agreed.
Kanade then called his cellphone, telling him she saw a advertisement for a amusement park on TV and she wants to go there.
Vol8 Ch4
October 9th, Jiro and co went to the amusement park. This is the last day this place will be open for the foreseeable future, due to cost issues or something like that. Kanade and everyone decided to come on the last day as this way it’ll make the events more memorable.
It’s been two weeks since Jiro saw that DVD. He and others spent this time trying to make Kanade satisfied, and didn’t even go to school. That didn’t work and now he’s two weeks behind in schoolwork, and exams are coming. Two weeks without going to school is a long time for any of them, so Jiro and everyone is betting on today being the day that cures Kanade.
Ichigo wanted to come, but due to overworking this past two weeks she caught a cold. Add the fact the chef that’s supposed to come back had some complication in the hospital there’s more work for her. Ichigo wants to go to make sure Jiro doesn’t do anything to Kanade. Jiro asked why did the chef stay in hospital, and it turns out the chef tried to tackle Subaru when she visited, and got beaten up again which led to a extended stay in the hospital. Kanade ordered Ichigo to stay home and she’ll bring back a souvenir for her, so Ichigo finally complied. She did force a dog suit MK2 onto Jiro however, even if it took her 15 minutes to do so. After they got to the park Jiro found out there’s a self-destruct button in this newer model, which Kanade is told to use if Jiro tries anything with her.
Jiro and co walked past a ‘hero show’, with the characters looking suspiciously like Jiro and Subaru. The show is thought up by Nakuru, and the amusement park will be taken over by her father (a company president for a popular brand of toys, those Silent Lambs) soon. Part of the reason for the change in ownership is also due to Shure being denied entry on rides like the roller coaster, telling her she’s too short and primary school students can’t ride on them.
Various comedy scenes happened, which suggested Jiro is both a lolicon and a fan of BL. All a misunderstanding of Usami’s.
Kanade finally decided to go to the haunted house. Kureha’s not good with that kind of things but after Kanade said something about only kids are afraid of that she went along with them. They stood in line for 30 minutes (the last day and all), and by the time they went in Kanade stopped them. She says if all 5 of them go in at once it won’t be nearly as fun, so they’ll split into two groups and the two that wins Rock, Paper and Scissors first goes in together. Jiro and Usami won first. Jiro’s not happy about this since Usami’s haunted. Usami told him she’ll tell him if the real thing comes up, which doesn’t make him any calmer. Subaru doesn’t seem pleased that Jiro’s paired with Usami.
Jiro and Usami went in, and after hearing about how later this place will have Silent Lambs added to it he’s glad they came today and not later. The haunted house will take roughly 30 minutes in full, but there’re emergency exits if anyone wants to bail out.
Usami asked him if he feels his shoulder betting heavier. Jiro says now that she mentions it it does feel kinda heavy. She told him to not look back no matter what, and they better leave through one of those emergency exits. Jiro wanted to negotiate some more, but Usami told him there’s long, white slender fingers going for his neck and he ran out.
It turns out Usami was lying about all that and the haunted house had no real ghosts in it. Jiro realised he’s been played. Usami told him he should go on a date with her today.
Usami forced Jiro to go on a date with her to cure his gynophobia, and to make sure he’s not a lolicon or does BL. She wanted to get away from Kanade since if she’s around Jiro won’t be allowed to go on a date. It’s Usami’s first time coming to a amusement park.
Usami pressed herself onto him, and said she’ll ask him two things. Jiro says he doesn’t have to answer anything, and Usami pressed tighter to almost give him nosebleed. She asked if he’s hiding anything about Kanade, and judging by his reaction she knows that’s a ‘yes’. Usami then asked why, since it looks like he’s trying hard to play with Kanade and not doing it out of duty or anything like that. Jiro was feeling faint so he told her about the DVD and how Kanade reverted due to her own choice. He didn’t reveal Kanade did so because of Usami however.
Usami says she wants to cure Kanade as fast as possible, to Jiro’s surprise. She claims it’s because she can’t get angry at a kid and holding everything in will make her go crazy eventually. She also says she don’t like how the kid-Kanade is always sticking to Jiro, and he agrees – he doesn’t want to have any more indications of being a loli-con. Usami muttered that’s not what she meant, but then they reached the end of the line they’re at for a roller coaster.
They sat down on the front seats, and Usami asked him the second thing: did he have a fight with Subari recently? Their interactions recently have been awkward. Jiro didn’t answer for a long time, right up to the point they reached the highest point of the roller coaster. Usami then says it doesn’t matter, she’ll help him. They’re at a amusement park anyway, so there’s plenty of events to help them make up. Usami says as long as they don’t go the point of BL she’ll help them no matter what.
Jiro told her he’s very fortunate to have her as a friend, and then the roller coaster ran down. It’s one of those with a water feature, and the ones at the front is given a plastic board to prevent water splashing onto them. Jiro was glad he didn’t end up too wet, but by the end of the ride he looked at Usami and found her soaked through. She didn’t notice that and stared at him with a blush, telling him why the hell is he saying such embarrassing things. Usami was too shocked by Jiro’s words to use the board earlier.
Jiro points out she’s soaked, and Usami found it’s obvious her curves is showing and some of her underwear is visible. She started kicking Jiro, saying it’s his fault for saying those things that led to this. Everyone around them thought this is a couple’s spat.
Usami dried herself somewhat by using a towel one of the attendants gave her. She says she will still help Jiro with both Kanade and Subaru’s issues. Jiro sincerely thought Usami really is a good person.
Subaru found him and Usami being together, and she’s trembling with anger. Jiro wants to tell her Usami has agreed to help them , but he got hit by Subaru with one of her attacks. Subaru said Jiro had promised to help bring Kanade back to normal but instead he went off with Usami, refused to listen to any explanation and left. Usami apologised to Jiro for her taking Jiro away, and Jiro said he’s at blame too. Jiro thought it’s not Usami’s fault for things turning out this way for both him and Subaru, their relationship seem to have gotten worse after that kiss.
It might be noon soon and a fine day right now, but inside Jiro feels clouds of anxiety is brewing.
After that, Subaru refused to listen to Jiro. They been to many other rides after that, and Kanade even ordered Jiro to try bungee jumping alone.
It’s sunset now, and Derechuki seems satisfied with how the day went. Subaru on the other hand refused to talk to Jiro the entire afternoon, no matter how many times he tried to talk to her.
Kanade wanted to ride the ferris wheel next. The trip will last 19 minutes. Before others got on however, Kanade shut the door, telling him she wants to talk alone with him for a while.
She asked why does Jiro and Subaru is so willing to play with her this past 2 weeks, and enthusiastically so. Before that point no matter how much she asked they didn’t want to play with her. Jiro thought Kanade is really smart even at a young age, noticing this from the start. Jiro told her everything he saw on the DVD. Kanade commented she’s very fortunate to have servants that look out for her like this; she’s very satisfied. Jiro had a sudden hope that she’s back to normal, but Kanade says there’s still something missing. Jiro asked what that is, but Kanade says she wants to ask him something else first: what happened between him and Subaru? Jiro wanted to snark, saying how does that come into this, then Kanade said she figured out that Jiro knows about Subaru’s a girl from their interactions within the past 2 weeks.
Kanad guessed Jiro kissed Subaro by force, and Jiro frantically tried to explain – then he thought how did Kanade know about that? It turned out Subaru had been sleeptalking about this, and Kanade heard her. Kanade offhandedly said she also hugged and kissed Subaru (on the cheek) in her sleep because she looked so adorable, and Jiro snarked about it.
6 minutes left until the ride is finished, and Kanade asked Jiro how does he see Subaru? Kanade also says in exchange for this she’ll tell Jiro how to return her back to normal. Jiro thought isn’t that obvious? They’re best friends, from that summer festival. Out loud, he said it’s because he doesn’t to see Subaru cry – if he sees that, he can’t help but to want to comfort her and protect Subaru.
Kanade replied Jiro’s a idiot, the biggest one ever in humanity’s history. He knows this much but yet he still doesn’t know what he’s feeling towards Subaru. She also said she’s so disappointed in him she won’t say what it is, and he can figure it out for himself. She says she’ll still help him though, and she needs to be back to normal in order to do that.
Kanade looked at the watch – 3 minutes left until the ride finishes. She told him, with a innocent smile, that she loves him the most in the world…
Then she kissed him on the lips.
Jiro jumped back and bumped his head on the walls. Kanade asked if Jiro’s alright, and from how she called him ‘Jiro-kun’ and not ‘onii-chan’ Jiro found she’s back to normal. Kanade apologised about bringing everyone so much trouble, and Jiro says he won’t forgive him that easily. Kanade says then how can she make it up to him, and Jiro replied ‘hell if I know’.
Kanade said “Then should I repay you with my body?”
Jiro: “All I know is that is definitely the wrong choice!”
Kanade: “That’s true, if it was my body that you want you would have done something when we slept on the same bed.”
Jiro: “Wha… Don’t tell me, you…”
Kanade: “Ara ara, me – I mean the me of 8 years old – I have all the memories of hers. You were completely enamoured by me.”
Jiro: “~~~~~!”
Kanade: “You lolicon bastard.”
Jiro: “Shut up! It’s all because you went back to a child that-”
Kanade: “Since it’s you, you probably had made a nickname for me? Probably something like ‘Derechuki’.”
Jiro: “Aaaaaaaargh!”
Kanade: “Ara, I was just joking. Though it appears I got it right.”
Kanade smiled from the bottom of her heart. Jiro mentally said farewell to Derechuki and that he’ll never forget her. He welcomed back the Dark Kanade, thinking he wants to forget about her but chances are that won’t happen.
Jiro commented if she can even fool Usami she’s invincible. Kanade disagreed, saying this experiment is a failure since it’s too dangerous, she can’t go back to normal whenever she wants. Kanade also said regardless of seeing through her lies or not, Usami is her natural enemy.
Jiro asked why is that, and Kanade said after a while she’ll tell him later. Right now the most important thing is help him make up with Subaru.
Jiro wants to tell them Kanade’s back to normal, but Kanade says no. She thinks it’s more fun this way, watching them while pretending she’s still a child.
The ride’s over, and the sun has set. There’s still activities since this is the last day for the amusement park, things like masquerade parades and a fireworks show. Kanade says she’ll continue to pretend to be Derechuki and make a chance for Jiro to be alone with Subaru.
The other three finished their ride and came back down. Kureha and Subaru didn’t notice Kanade’s back to normal. Kanade got Usami and Jiro aside, asking her to not reveal Kanade’s back to normal and for her to help Jiro and Subaru make up.
Subaru asks what is Kanade saying to Jiro and Usami, and Kanade says it’s how to make Usami’s chest bigger. Usami denied she asked that, but then Kanade went up behind Usami and fondled her.
Afterwards Jiro asked Kanade if that’s going overboard, and she said maybe. Kanade wants Usami to use up that ticket she has though, she’s not happy her 8 year old version gave Usami that.
Kanade dragged the girls to the masquerade service, and had them all dressed up. Subaru now looks like a princess, and both Jiro and Kureha says it fits her. Kanade says Subaru should go to that parade, and Subaru went. Kanade then said now’s the perfect time for Jiro to go after her now that she separated Subaru from the others, and in Jiro’s dog suit he can join the parade with no problem. If he doesn’t want that then he can go drag Subaru away if necessary.
Jiro asked Kanade why did she came back to normal after that kiss in the ferris wheel, and after a few moments she says it’s because she wants Jiro to spoil her more. Being Dark Kanade meant Jiro don’t look at her much, so she wants to stay as a child and be with Jiro more. She can’t stay as a child forever though.
Jiro thought there’s a paradox there, since if Kanade says she wants to be spoiled by him then why did she went Dark? Kanade told Jiro to go quickly and chase after Subaru, and he did so.
As he left however he thought he heard Kanade say something: “Goodbye, Jiro-kun.”
He turned back, and Kanade is no longer facing him. She was turning away, and she had a lonely expression on her face.
Vol8 ch5
Jiro caught up with Subaru. A awkward silence popped up after he said Kanade said he can join the parade with her. Jiro is still feeling embarrassed from their kiss that time, and he doesn’t get why the after effects is so strong.
Jiro then requested Subaru to go on a date with him.
Even on a date, their relationship is still tense. Jiro’s nervous, and his mind flashed back to what Kanade told him: Even at this point he still doesn’t understand his emotions. Jiro thought back to his promise made back in April – his name meaning ‘stand by me’ from his father, and how he wants to one day be able to say that to Subaru.
Jiro asked Subaru why did she agree to come with him. Subaru said it’s because Jiro went on a date with Usami. Jiro explained that was just another treatment for his gynophobia, and the ‘date’ was him explaining things to Usami and her agreeing to help.
The parade started, and the festivities there is a huge contrast to how cold their surroundings seem to be.
Jiro finally apologised to Subaru for kissing her two weeks ago, since he didn’t get to it because he didn’t want to remember the kiss. He asked if they can make up and go back to how they were. Subaru replied in tears how can’t she not forgive him, and all this time she wanted to talk to him and talk things out but she was too embarrassed to broach the topic with him. When she saw Jiro with Usami on that ‘date’ she got irritated for some reason and made their situation worse.
Subaru smiled even while she’s crying. As Jiro is wiping her tears away with a handkerchief he has, he finally figured out his feelings while he saw her tearful smile.
He was about to give voice to that feeling when the fireworks started. And with that as the signal, so did the parade.
He called out to Subaru to get her attention, then he confessed that he loves her.
Subaru seemed shocked, frightened that Jiro confessed to her. The silence dragged on, then she finally looked him in the eye and gave her response…
Vol8 Ch6
The next day: Jiro went straight to bed after they came back from the amusement park, and after seeing his face Ichigo gave him a guest room rather than have him sleeping in the tent. Kureha came to wake him up for breakfast, and from what she says Kanade finally told everyone she’s back to normal.
Jiro demanded Kureha to perform wrestling techniques on him like she did every morning back home, and treat him like a sandbag. Kureha is surprised and shocked into going along with Jiro’s request. She jumped up from the table and landed down on him after a half-flip in mid-air, that being the most strongest technique she can pull off at this point (named Stardrop?). Jiro writhed in pain for a moment, then told her that’s not enough. Jiro asked for a combination move, and while Kureha is hesitant Jiro asked if that’s the best she can do, and Kureha did as he asked and told her she won’t be responsible for how he ends up.
After a ‘Rannin Kusurii’ + ‘Northern Light Bomb’ + ‘Japanese Ocean Cyclone Suplex Hold’ combo that focused on dealing damage with as much flair as possible, Kureha collapsed onto the ground, and asked if that’s enough – if she goes further Jiro’s body might be able to handle it. The room shook and it wouldn’t be surprising if the bed broke in half.
Jiro crawled back up, and told her that’s still wasn’t enough. He wants more, to the point it will be able to blow his memories away. Kureha got frightened by Jiro’s sudden, fanatical Masochistic tendencies she ran away, shrieking how Jiro has gotten strange and it was probably due to wrestling moves.
Jiro collapsed back onto his bed, as those moves by Kureha had still hurt a lot. He wanted to forget what happened yesterday.
Flashback to yesterday:
Subaru told him ‘Sorry’. She’s very happy that Jiro thinks this way towards her, and she feels the same way too. However she says she can’t go out with Jiro. “For now”, she wants to stay as Best Friends as that seems like the best way at this point.
She can tell Jiro didn’t want to hear that after seeing his expression. She’s worried, and her eyes had unshed tears. Jiro didn’t want to see her cry, and told her it’s alright if that’s her decision. Subaru then ran off to the parade, not wanting to stay with Jiro. He wanted to join her, but can’t seem to move his legs. Jiro felt like a boxer after the full dozen rounds in the ring.
Jiro pondered Subaru’s words, and came to the conclusion she had never saw him potentially as a lover and that he’s Friend-zoned for now and forever. Even she said that’s not what he wanted to hear, so he confessed and even got pitied upon by the person he confessed to.
Jiro came to the conclusion he was dumped. Seventeen years of life, Sakamachi Kinjirou have confessed for the first time and got rejected.
End Flashback.
Jiro writhed on the bed after reliving the pain that memory gave him. He knows he should get up and work like what he is supposed to do, but he doesn’t seem to have the energy. He don’t think he can perform his duties, and he doesn’t know how to face Subaru from now on; he hadn’t talk to Subaru at all after that confession.
He wants to go back to sleep, despite how he’s not tired. It’s running away from reality, but he thought maybe after he wakes up again the pain of rejection will heal eventually.
Ichigo came to get him, and Jiro notes she seems to have recovered from her cold. She passed on the message both he and Kureha is fired. Jiro is flabbergasted, as they don’t have a place to go as their house is still being fixed up.
Usami then come in, explaining she’s the one that got them fired using the ticket Kanade gave her earlier. Jiro asked her why did she do that, she was there when they found Sakamachi’s home is burned down. Usami said they can come and live with her.
She then pointed at Jiro, like she’s commanding him:
