Apples to grapefruit comparison here. C3's action sequences, while certainly pretty to look at, felt pretty shallow and overindulgent to me. This fight had the same kind of stylization with choreography and camera angles ufotable used in Rakkyo, except at a slower pace. While I would rather they abide more by "show don't tell", making the action more fluid, I can't say it wasn't impressive and the slow speed helps build tension. Style is just as big, perhaps even more important than technicality.
Though I really can't perceived a major difference in the animation level of both. Maybe my eyes just aren't as good. |

Because of the many things I mentioned before, Fate/Zero just sort of obliterates the C3 fight in level of detail, from my POV.

Pesonally, I like the fight scenes in UBW better than this episode, but it was still a good fight sequence. I like how they added strategics and other character's face expressions into the fight.

I think Fate/Zero is far superior to UBW visually. UBW had all those faraway shots and cluttered action so much that you really couldn't get into the fights. Plus they went by way too fast and you really didn't know what was happening besides they were shooting, swinging at each other with some lights.
Then again UBW to me has as much value as dry dog turds in the street.

Well, to be fair, dry dog turds are far better than wet dog turds. Plus, there are millions of people who don't live in wonderful countries like the USA who use dry poop as fuel for the fires that they hang their crockpots over and such.

Just the first 15 seconds of the fight was already amazing.
Ultra powerful stab from Lancer, deflected full force by Saber, sliding in but then forced back again by the nimble short-spear. Saber taking the heavy risk trying to close in for the decisive advantage while Lancer maintains the same range for his greater advantage. I love this sort of "duel" as opposed to "lol, my stats are better" or "I used a single trick and I win the duel". Even after falling for the setup, Saber is still not out of the fight. |

This was a great meticulous fight with many moments of brilliance, like the beginning strikes between the two.

Come on guys... Patience. We have yet to see the battle royale for the next episode and no need to spell it out... your daddy will be there soon Man, I'll give it a 10/10 without any PVs/spoiler pics
Anyways, as for the episode itself was pretty enjoyable but dragging off the battle between wasn't very intelligent IMHO. At least I thought we'd get a decent all-action scenes despite the LN's short explanations of their fight (Jeez, you don't really have to follow as precisely as LN did ppl since you failed it from the very beginning). So, they won't tell us as to why didn't Assasin stay in his spirit form as well?

The fight scene went on way too long due to the anime cliche of "overusing far-away shots and talking heads). While I like Saber and that...homunculus woman she's with, when are Waver/Rider going to take center stage (apparently next episode)? I consider them the most interesting duo due to their dynamic relationship.

For me: Fate/Zero >= UBW > Fate/Stay Night (despite my only favorite episode: 14, where Archer fought and died)
