While keeping how strong the sniper is in his heart Rentaro suddenly changed the topic.
“Miori-san, your company also sends out weapons to the police as well as Civil Security Guard right? Do you know someone called Dick?”
“Nope.”
“He’s Seitenshi’s guard captain. Does the Shibi database have any info on him? Regarding information on him tell me as much as you know.”
Miori turned back to her advanced holographic computer and said, “Search, dick”, (god this sounds inappropriate) and the computer got info on him at dizzying speeds.
“Dick, 32 year old male. Military rank is second lieutenant. Rentaro-san you’re Master Sergeant so he’s higher then you by one rank.” (No idea if the military rank here is correct but the naming is a small detail so it doesn’t really matter.)
“What?”
That sentence just now cannot be dismissed.
“Oui, Miori-san, I’m not a soldier so where is the military rank from?”
To be more exact he did have a rank since he’s a soldier of the “New Human Creation Plan” but it’s pitifully low. His rank shouldn’t be nearly that high.
“This is the so called pseudo rank. When your IP rank increases you gain more access to confidential information. Rentaro IP rank is a thousand so his rank in the military is equivalent to a Master Sergeant.”
So to indicate the ability to access to confidential information the increase of IP ranking also increases the “false” military ranking.
“Then what use is this so called pseudo rank.”
“Almost no use. It has the same general use as a real rank so you have the “right of commend” but ultimately that’s artificial so you don’t have the ability to call on troops or issue orders.”
In other words there is the right to commend but no authority to enforce it.
“Then why do people even set it up in the first place?”
“They want to curry favor with Civil Security Guards by having a rank system. It’s also to publically create the impression that the Civil Security Guards belong to the country.”
Rentaro sighed.
“It’s supposedly a “private sector” yet Civil Security companies can be considered the government’s mistress.”
“Well that can’t be helped. The strongest Civil Security Guards can unbalance the world’s military force so the government will do their best to bring these people into their own strength. Even though Civil Security Guard has been coined by many to be a “privatization of the military” but in the end that’s just a title.”
Looking at Miori who’s coldly smiling, Rentaro suddenly remembered that he had a similar conversation with Kisara about this before.
Miori started playing around with the painting program. She edited out Dick’s hair and added whiskers to his face. After playing around a bit she continued talking.
“Besides, formerly the self-defense force had a stance of “taking pride in sheathing their swords during peace” which is very righteous, but the commend failed. In the gastrea war victorious old war hawks started the old trick of drafting people into the military. Seitenshi’s guards can be considered an bad example of that.”
“Dick………..what about him?”
“To put it bluntly he’s a bad guy. Also Satomi-tan, originally the task of escorting officials fell on the police, but Seitenshi has her own guards. That isn’t a good thing though. Do you know why?
Rentaro nodded.
“Because they have no knowledge.”
“Right. Seitenshi’s bodyguards were founded less than a decade ago so it’s still an immature organization. Therefore compared to the Metropolitan Police Department Security Section their skills are naturally lower, and they lack experience. Most importantly in the past decade, all Seitenshi’s guards had to do was simply to block the media.”
It is exactly as Rentaro feared. Looking back during the sniper incident their conduct wasn’t professional or experienced.
Rentaro sighed.
He had lost hope in them.
Dick is even more incompetent then he had imagined. The most serious problem is that he didn’t learn anything from the sniper incident.
Someone once said that “A man who committed a mistake and doesn’t correct it is committing another mistake”.
As things stand there is a high chance an assassination will happen again.
In the end he can only rely on himself to found a way.
“Miori-san, I want you to do me a favor. Please investigate Sougen Saitake for me.”
“Why?”
“That guy’s the mastermind behind this assassination. There should be no one else.”
“Satomi-tan also thinks so, eh.”
“But I don’t have any evidence. Can you please collect inside information?”
“No problem.” However Miori let out a bitter smile.
“You going to me for help make me very happy, but I can’t return your expectations. Hypothetically it’s really as Satomi-tan expected, but the opponent is Osaka’s head of state, I don’t think he’ll sloppily leave any evidence.”
“There’s no problem, please help anyway.”
“Ah, I understand.”
“Thanks.”
With that he put in all his effort.
Satomi raised his head only to found Miori’s face within arm’s reach.
Before Rentaro can react Miori put her chin on Rentaro’s chest while blushing. It’s a very affectionate move.
“Satomi-tan, I’ll do the things you asked me to do, but in exchange can I see your real strength?”
She’s referring to the strength of the “New Human Creation Plan”.
“Che, what does “that” have to do with you? Besides “that” isn’t meant for show.”
“Satomi-tan do you like Kisara that much?”
“Don’t, don’t say that out loud.”
Miori let out a unpleasant expression.
“As you long as you forget Kisara, I’ll let you play with my body however you want.”
Miori started using her soft, delicate hands to circle Rentaro’s chest. With the two bodies close together like this, and the fact that from his angle Rentaro can see Miori’s chest, he felt inexplicitly excited. Facing Miori’s soft eyes Rentaro quickly slipped away.
“Please, I beg you Miori, stop right there-”
As he said this a loud bang occurred and Kisara rushed in.
“What are you guys doing exactly?”
Kisara alternated between looking at Miori and Rentaro while her knife made creaking sounds.
In the end she had broken the door down.
Maybe because she thought of a bad idea Miori let out a soft smile before pretending to be docile.
“Please forgive me, I ask of you to please forgive me Kisara.”
“Eh?”
Kisara lost the will to fight, and blinked in confusion.
“In this room me and Satomi-tan really didn’t do anything, I’m speaking the truth. Please don’t misunderstand, Kisara.”
However contrary to her words she had a prominent blush on her face and kept on adjusting her clean kimono.
“You’re lying”.
Because of Miori’s suspicious behavior Kisara naturally assumed the worst.
Miori turned her head to Rentaro.
“Ok then Satomi-tan, regarding that I’ll continue it that way.”
Saying that she tried to run away.
“Wait, what do you mean by “that”.”
Miori stopped and with a mischief glint in her eyes that only Rentaro noticed replied.
“You’re asking about “that” right……..“that” is of course once I give my body to Satomi-tan he’ll come work for my company, Ah, Kisara nothing happened, really. Bye.”
With that said she left for real this time. As she’s leaving she sticks her tongue out at Kisara who didn’t notice.
“No way.”
Kisara is stunned motionless.
Rentaro felt something troublesome coming up.
“Oui, Kisara-san. I think you know, just now that was Miori’s prank. Oui……are you listening to me?”
Rentaro waved his hand in front of Kisara’s face but she ignored him. After a while of being motionless she hobbled out while ignoring Rentaro.
Damn it, Rentaro thought annoyed. Miori had used a combination of reverse phycology and lying to successfully trick Kisara.
Just as he is about to chase after Kisara his phone vibrated and he picks it up.
“What is it Doctor? I’m sorta busy right now.”
“Yo Satomi-san. Are you free? I have something urgent I need to speak to you about.”
Rentaro looked up at the doorway before hesitantly muttering, “Alright”.
“Come here instantly. I also have something to talk to Enju about, bring her along to, bye.”
“Eh, Enju also has to come?” However the other side already hang up the phone when Rentaro asked this question.
With no choice Rentaro called Enju and told her that they’re going to Sumire’s place. After that he looked at Kisara’s name on his contact list for a few minutes before finally working up the courage to call her. The phone rang 20 times before Kisara finally picked up.
“Hey, hey, Kisara-san.”
“Who are you?”
A surprisingly indifferent voice replied back.
“What? It, it’s me Rentaro Satomi.”
“Which Satomi-san?”
“What?”
Looks like she’s throwing a tantrum.
Rentaro scratched his head while sighing.
“Che, so annoying. I’m stupid, useless, the weakest under the sun, that Satomi, are you happy now?”
“Oh, so it’s that Satomi. I remember now.”
Kisara let out a snicker and Rentaro felt his heart uplifting a little bit.
“But you forgot, “the Satomi that flirted with the whore Miori” that part, idiot, idiot, idiot, idiot.”
Well that killed Rentaro’s mood quickly.
“That’s a misunderstanding.”
“You lie.”
“I’m not lying to you.”
“Well, it’s not like I care. Even if Satomi-san is gone I won’t feel bad.”
“If I go, won’t the number of people in the company reach zero?”
From the other side of the phone a groan is emanated. She didn’t think about that.
“I, I will just rehire people. Because I don’t have to give Satomi any salary.”
“Just based on that little salary who will want to work under you except me”, Rentaro almost retorted out but refrained from saying that. Instead with a reasonable tone he said:
“………Kisara-san, you should know this. In the Civil Security Guard business there’s a lot of former convicts, hopeless bastards in the underworld who only understands violence and nothing but that, if you hire one of those guys, there will be big trouble.”
Once more a groan is emanated from the other side of the phone. It seems that she had once again not thought about that.
“I, I won’t give you Enju-chan!”
Rentaro felt dumbfounded. Although it was really hard to say out loud, Enju had no good feelings for Kisara. Once Rentaro had asked her, “how do you feel about Kisara-san?” and her reply was very explicit, “a pair of unsightly breasts!”
It’s not that Rentaro is exaggerating Enju’s feelings for him; if it comes down to it he can think of very few reasons why Enju would want to stay with Tendo Company.
“Food……..what are you to do about that? The food you make is so bad it can kill someone. Don’t you have to come every 3 days to eat in my home? Besides coming to my home to eat all you eat is foods that lack nutrition like bento, candy, and bread.
“So what, I also ate bread crusts before!”
“……”
“Besides, I don’t have to worry about becoming fat because of the good food and dishes Satomi-san gave me, I can even go on a diet!”
Rentaro became increasingly worried. If he ever resigned from Tendo Company there is a high chance that Kisara would starve to death on the streets.
“Also, what do you mean by that? According to Satomi-san’s words, I’m someone that can’t take care of herself, an arrogant little missy that uses a poor salary to push down the hardworking laborer that works under her right?”
I mean exactly that.
“I’m really unhappy now. I’m angry. It’s too late to come back, even if you cried and begged to be let back into Tendo Company. Bye!”
Kisara hang up the phone but less than 10 seconds later called back.
“……..Satomi-san, you like bugs right?”
Rentaro can’t grasp why she called back but still nodded anyway.
“…….Something like that. Before I liked the Hymenoptera order among the insect species, so as a result it somehow extended to the rest of the species.” (Not sure if “Hymenoptera” is correct, specific terms regarding animals are really wonky especially in Chinese).
“Then, in order to make it easier for Satomi-san to understand let me make an analogy. Once upon a time there was a worm called Satomi worm.”
“Sat, Satomi worm?”
Suddenly a worm with his name showed up leaving Rentaro speechless.
“That’s a scientific name. It’s certainly because a professor named Satomi discovered it first and used his own name to title it. It has nothing to do with you Satomi-san.”
“……..”
“Anyways continuing on. Larvae stage Satomi worm is very cute. He always followed the Kisara butterfly which subsequently showed up, he’s both honest and gentle. But in the process of growing up Satomi worm become more and more arrogant, he even learned, “don’t screw with me” these type of disrespectful sayings. Satomi-san looking at the story objectively what do you feel?”
“………these bugs can talk?”
“Yes, their Japanese is very good.”
“……”
“Continuing on. One day, Satomi worm got approached by Miori worm and she started seducing him. This worm’s lineage is a cross between dung beetle and cockroach; it’s the type of poisonous bug that spreads malaria and small pox. Just to be clear this has nothing to do with Miori.”
Beetles and cockroaches can’t cross; Rentaro felt the compulsive urge to correct her but stopped himself and let her continue her unbelievable story.
“At this point the already mentioned Kisara butterfly made her valiant debut. To be blunt Kisara butterfly is an angel of god. Incidentally she’s very cute, a least much more cuter then Miori worm. The only person that can save Satomi worm from the claws of Miori worm is Kisara butterfly. And from Kisara butterfly’s perspective seeing a childhood friend like Satomi worm get stolen away is a little sad, in other words Satomi worm’s happiness is to be together with Kisara butterfly. Satomi-san, looking at this story objectively what do you feel?”
Rentaro felt a headache.
“Ok, stop being mad.”
“I’m not mad at all.”
“Kisara-san, stop being like this. I won’t go to Miori, I’ll work for you like before.”
At this point Rentaro realized that he made a mistake and stopped himself but it was too late.
“I don’t need you to work with me out of pity. Hmph.”
And with that she closed her phone and this time didn’t call back.
Rentaro lifelessly looked at the phone in his hands. He obviously didn’t mean that. Why did she have to be so troublesome?
Finally after loitering around for a while he decided to walk out of the school to visit another troublesome woman.
