EPs 32-39
Wow...so much to talk about! Well, for me personally the second half of the series has been kind of average. Very PreCure'ish. Which is fine in and of itself, but after the strong start in the first half of the series it feels to me like a bit of a backpedal. Although...it looks like something is stirring in the preview for ep 40 that may smell of the same scent as the first half. If so that would be excellent. I am hoping that the series will be able to have a strong finish that will lift it up a bit for me! Ah yes ... I really dislike the possible ED3 that aired beginning with ep 38. Please, please let it be a temporary thing!

Things are continuing to unfold with the past couple episodes. Would have been a missed chance to have some fun with Halloween. A fitting time to combine both worlds.
Seems like a united front is going to be a key in stopping the calamity ahead. Regular world Mirai, magical world Riko, and a third kind of existence with Haa-chan. Those three combined with the various peoples and magical creatures should be some kind of key in stopping what is coming. Hopefully the whole "starting to get my powers back" thing will mean that finally Rabu's replacements will actually get serious about this. So there are 6 more linkle stones to acknowledge before...something will happen. Hopefully they can combine 2-3 stones to an episode so it doesn't actually take six or more episodes.

Ep 43
Oh ... oh wow. O.O Consider my mind blown! I was not expecting the story to go on such a ... err ... "large" scale! But the info dump given in this episode sheds a whole lot of light on the direction of everything up until now. This is a very good start for a strong finish, I hope. Now if only the studio can pull it off....

Watched up to episode 43:
Some interesting reveletions. So the big boss of this precure season is Deusmast - long ago him and his minions tried consuming the planet, but was defeated by Rapapa even after they ganged up on her. Hmm, I have a feeling that Haa-chan would somehow become the new Rapapa. And nice battle scene with Shakins. Mirai really hammered him to the ground.

Hmmmmmm.
So, saw ep 45, and a couple more pieces of the puzzle revealed in terms of the relation between Dokuroxy and Deusmast and it's entourage primarily thanks to Oruba's underestimating his foes. I must admit, though, this storyline is by far one of the most (if not The most) intricate and involved of the PreCure series that I can recall. There's all sorts of things going on here! I wonder if their highest % audience of viewers would pick up on all the things involved? Hmm. Yeah. Color me impressed. More than that, after the first big reveal of ep 43 I was so blown away and researched the first half of the series. Yessiree and Bob's yer uncle, this is actually a much more involved story going on here, and interestingly part of the reason I was not as clearly able to see things was my not coming into the series with a clear mind. I just "assumed" it was going to be "just another PreCure series". Wrong. Ah yes. Oruba in battle mode looked pretty effective as a foe. Kudos to him - he is the sort of follower and last boss would be grateful to have.

Watched 44-45:
Mirai, Riko, and Haa-chan became even cuter! I guess pre-schoolers need to take an afternoon nap. XD Batty is depressed. However.. he was inspired to fight again after seeing his master. After many years of precure, this is the first time I see two monsters fight each other. Batty is able to win by willpower? And leaves to go home peacefully along with the other villains from the first half of anime. Sad that this anime is about to end. I was beginning to like the transformation costumes that Mirai and the others wear when they do extreme rainbow. For some reason, I don't feell tired to watch this lengthy special move every episode. Looking forward to the next episode.

Ep 49
Penultimate episode ... and very well done in my opinion. This has actually been one of the better PreCure series for me - with a lot more involvement to the writing than I initially expected. Next week is the final episode, it seems (I guess wrapping up the few last parts of the series - must admit that I was kinda curious about "those aspects") ... hopefully it will give the series a satisfyjng conclusion on the whole! ^^

Thus far from that point on the series has had a very strong finish in my opinion and ep 49 was downright excellent (and even a bit moving). The final episode should have already aired too, so next week (?) Kirakira should make its debut. If you have seen a fair number of PreCure series you probably know that there is not only a lot of variations on common themes, but also a great variety of likes and dislikes of the various series across the board. So no worries if Mahoutsukai did not click for you - different folks have different tastes and such. ^^

Heck of a job with the second last episode for the show (still waiting on subs for the last ep). That was a really great emotional episode. The final battle was fun. Kind of awesome with Haa-chan going into Goddess mode at points in the fight and the other two unleashing some power shots in the various forms they have.
But the best parts were the emotional ones. I think the one great accomplishment for this season, was making me care about the connections. In a sense this whole series has been about those bonds. Other seasons have been about the characters going through personal arcs and their individual paths. And there is that in this show as well, but the key is the connections they have together. Through the 49th episode the girl's futures are still pretty open. Mirai is learning and finding her way, but she hasn't really locked down what she wants to do with her life. Even Riko has gone through various ups and downs, but still doesn't really know what her ideal image of a great magician is. But what matters is their friendships and how much they are about each other. Makes sense that one of Mirai's turning points was her stance of "I'm done with tearful goodbyes, we're going to stay together." And that's what worked for episode 49. A simple idea, but a good one in having them make the choice to save the day even if it costs them what they want the most. It makes the separation (Haa-chan going literal goddess/Mirai and Riko going to rapidly separating worlds) work so well. But it's not a farewell where they are giving up. I don't know. For me the Mirai scene near the end just worked. She is given a chance to try and do something to change a status quo she doesn't like. She can pick up that stick and scream out her desires or she can go home and kind of protect her personal pride. Not risking throwing out her hopes and not having anything come from it. You knew things would work out, but it still was a nice scene. Crying out and hoping for one more miracle. Of course her putting it all on the line is the only reason it worked. And Mirai remained Mirai. Just a lot of tears and smiles and a great reunion scene with Riko in the sky. Because no doubt the past few years for the two of them has been tough. Probably had Riko working her rear off in school and working with everyone to find a way to bridge the gap between the worlds again. While all Mirai could really do is....live her life. Go to school, get her education, and become a well rounded person. Even losing the magic that would allow her to keep an active and talking Mofurun. She had her other friends and her family....but probably felt quite alone at times. In terms of the PreCure shows I have seen....this is up there. The writing really works when looking back on the show. What they were building up to with Haa-chan and what the characters faced in episode 49 just worked. They really thought this story out pretty well. There's a lot of interconnection between various overarching plots. Will be too bad to let this one end. Think I'll miss this group more than the last few PreCure series. Also kind of nice that the main PreCure never really overshadowed the show. This wasn't simply Mirai's story. Her big arc with Riko and Haa-chan getting little arcs. This was a story about the group and had a solid overall story surrounding it.

Watched episode 49 today:
Didn't expect something like this.. I'm surprised how good this episode is. Felice, Liko and Mirai turned the bad guys into another solar system? And why did Mi rai let go of her wand? She could have avoided the trouble of making another if she had just kept her old one. And a certain level of drama at the end too. And glad to see a teenage version of Mirai and teenage version of Liko. Well, they're adults now even without the transformation. So I guess we would have one more episode to wrap things up. It's sort of rare for cure series to reach 50 eps. At first, I only watched this show because of Yui Horie-sama but now I'm glad to have stuck until the end. This is one of the better precure series that I've finished.

Working on finishing this. Episode 43 gives us quite a bit of info on the villains, the worlds, Haa-chan, and... well probably a bunch of other stuff that I haven't pieced together yet.
Episode 44... the villains have figured out who Haa-chan is, even if she hasn't. And... wait. Did they really just waste their super-finisher on one of the starter-level enemies?! Come on, kids!

This one feels much like an OVA.. main conflict is over. There is just one mino r problem about Dokuroxy. Well, he may be just after sweets now.,, but thos pitc h fork arms can still seriously hurt someone. Cure Whip preview.. she helps them. Anyway, first time I saw a villain say "I will remember this" in a ncie way. This is a nice ay to wrap things up. Last year when Go Princess ended.. Cure Miracle only had a short time at the end. This time they use an entire episode to bridge Mahou Tsukai Precure and Kira Kira precure. Looks like they're having more animation budget this time. Sad to see Mirai and the others go.. not sure if I will be finishing Kira Kira... Mahou Tsukai has sort of spoiled me to have some expectations.

So this was a really good series. It's interesting how many seemingly unimportant details end up connecting back to the plot and the finale. Like how Haa-chan's powers as Cure Felice have so much flower imagery, or that her final move is Emerald Reincarnation. The detail that the Emerald is the power of all life. And much more. There's probably a lot of stuff I've forgotten that I'll only catch if I rewatch it all from the beginning. What I really like is that the bond between our Precures is among the closest and most well-established out of the entire franchise, rivaled only by the one between the girls of Suite Precure. Mirai, Riko, and Haa-chan are a family, bound together by unbreakable bonds. It doesn't matter that they each come from different worlds, and one of them is a goddess of life: the dynamic is so strong it overcomes any obstacles in its way. The three of them belong together, and nothing can keep them apart. In another random thought, I think this is the first time one of our Precure series has had a true "distant-finale" where several years have passed since the girls saved the world and did their thing. Not that it will matter for crossover movies, since, as Haa-chan proved, they can be magically returned to middle-school age whenever the plot demands it. Still, it's interesting. Not to mention having a genuine non-movie crossover in the final episode. So, now that I've finally finished this series, I can get started on Kirakira Precure!

________________________ And just one more thing. What I liked about this precure series is that their very first special move "Diamond Eternal" is already like a super special move of some other cure series. They defeated the powered up Dokuroxy with it in episode 21. pc screenshot screengrab
