See, this is why I need an editor: I spent two huge wall-of-text posts saying what dreamoflife summarized much better in one paragraph.

This is our very own Band with Rocks In, so let's see if we can get THIS working, too.

/EDIT D'you know if TVTropes has that Squid in the mouth thing already? D:
Pterry's Discworld books are pretty much the direct reason why I love to write. It's one of my Top Three Fandoms (the other two being Card Captor Sakura and, well, MoHS).

TVTropes does not have a specific page for Squid In The Mouth (it's not really that tropeable), but it does have a Turkey City Lexicon page in general.

Change of topic: Emiri Kimidori. Genderswap name consensus, please.

I've seen "Emilio Kimidori Honduras" suggested on Nico. I have no idea how common "Emiri" is as a Japanese name, but I'm guessing that "Emilio" will be even less common.

lolwut? Emilio? They actually trying to make the Latin American argument sound plausible to Haruki? (Not that I have any better suggestions at this time...)

Oh, believe me. I'm usually much less concise. I'm just using all my wordiness on my essay at the moment. (I'm writing about ambiguity in humans, and had to resist the urge to include the phrase 'mixed-up data' in there...)

The only Japanese E- name I can think of is Eichii. Or possibly Eiichi. Those crazy double vowels.

I personally worship at the altar of the Holy Trinity of Modern English Authors, that of Douglas Adams, Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman.

Anyway, yeah. Um... Emiri names.

The Latin American arguement does not work.

Yes plz. I adore all of them.

And yes, it's a legitimate hispanic name... but Emiri isn't hispanic. xD

Yeah, I think when the suggested name popped up in the scrolling comments, the other comments had the same reaction of "lolwut".

"Eichi" makes me think of Full Moon wo Sagashite's "Eichi-kun", which I could not help but hear in my head as "H-kun". /offtopic

No, I don't have anything constructive to add. I'm drawing a blank on suitable names as well.

It's probably convincing enough to Haruki. He'll come out saying "How the hell could this guy possibly be Hispanic?" in a rare instance of common sense, only to willingly concede after learning his name.

Well, if they wanted to be unobtrusive, green hair probably wasn't the way to go.

(Come to think of it, iirc all the data terminals have unusual hair. Interesting.)

I feel the Integrated Data Sentient Entity (that name is srsly bugging me, but it's fanon now...) would be much more cautious than that.

I need to re-re-write the infodump. Gods.

/EDIT Nobody seems to notice the odd hair. It's an anime thing.

Compare Miyuki, pink-haired-walking-wiki, lecturing the Purple Twins Kagami and Tsukasa and the Blue Otaku Konata about salt changing the colour of hair from black to light brown.

Yeah, I agree with you, I was just poking fun.

That name (IDSE) is incredibly grammatically incorrect and it really bothers me.

Edit: Yeah, it's totally an anime thing, I just find it interesting that all the other characters have hair that fits somewhere on the 'anime-realistic' spectrum, i.e. black/brown/red and it's only the aliens that have weird hair. Sort of like a big neon 'these people aren't normal!' to the viewers. Although, hmm, I guess Tsuruya sort of scotches that...

At least in the Haruhi series everyone has normal hair other than the aliens.

And what's so wrong with the fanon title of the IDSE?

The whole concept of data entities bugs me to hell. There's got to be a better way to explain it.

DJ_Rockman - mah problem is that "Integrated Data Sentient Entity" is so grammatically incorrect it bugs me to hell. IDSE is fine though. Acronyms ftw!

BRB, Spy's sappin' mah sentry.

Should be Sentient Integrated Data Entity, is my grammatical beef with it.

Until my essay gets done or until I fall asleep on the keyboard. A couple hours either way.

*is ridiculously excited for the video*

It should be... SIDE?

I guess that's one of the problems. Now it sounds like a faction in the epic battle between CONTROL and KAOS. (Props if anybody knows what I'm referencing)
