No...the story is legit. If done right ofc. Much of the first ep emphasizes the point of the MC being an automaton taking the first few steps to living a normal person's life so it isn't just scenery porn with nothing happening.

i'm still disappointed they didn't follow how the novel did it and jump straight into the story with the author, then fill out her background in small bits through flashbacks until the actual chapters with her background.
i just realized as i was typing this that i'm turning into a novel snob. kill me. haha

That's like giving way too much credit to Kyoani. Yeah they are excellent at visuals but that's not precisely what makes a series entirely good, remember how many series were ruined in the past by them even with incredibly good visuals? because I do.
For now Violet Evergarden looks great but as always is good to keep the hopes down especially when Kyoani is so good a ruining their own LN's. EDIT: saw the comments for Episode 3 and every single one agreed in the fact that the Visuals were outstanding, most comments just pointed that out and a few talked a little bit about the plot, without spoiling anything of couse many people mentioned that ep3 contained comedy parts and it was actually pretty decent. I guess Kyoani is moving some content of the novel as they usually do. |

People have been saying "Bluray-quality doesn't even give this series justice", and I totally agree on that.
I don't know why, but hearing the "time heals all sorrows" sends goosebumps all over me.

some people may find this boring. it's not a heavily plot driven show. you're not going to get code geass or something. i'm going to bet at least the first half of the show will be episodic in nature, with individual stories getting one or two episodes. it's definitely not lowest common denominator stuff.
