I've been advising people in the MMOs I play to simply skip on downloading torrents released for a day or two (much less pay any mind to controversial announcements).

I've done a couple of April Fools jokes today (only online though) we never celebrate that here IRL in where I'm from.

Well, it's fun and I can tell for myself if something is a joke or not.

That is all I have to add to this sham of a holiday. Nothing but malice, pure in intent or derived for simple enjoyment. I haven't done a AF for a long long time... It's a waste of time, even Easter has more significant meaning then it.

Oh... How I wish there were Cherry Blossoms in america! Then I could find myself celebrating Hanami.... Oh how I wish -- Alas, it is not meant to be. Nigh, I'll enjoy it later in my life.

Until then, i'll be hiding under my bed in fear of April Fool rampage and Jehova Witnesses.. Don't throw a fragmentation grenade under the bed, My stuff is there.

It's not really a holiday per se, as much as just social tradition I'd think xD

And as I said before, jokes aren't necessailly malicious or harmful. They can trick and scare and unnervere people a bit, but it depends on what was done of which the prankster tries to define it as a 'joke' (basically using today as an excuse to actually harm someone)

There is a difference in that sense.
Otherwise we've had a few tantrums, a lot of facepalms but some smiles and a bundle of laughs today so far ^^

Yahoo Japan in 3D is absolutely brilliant.

The iPad Arcade Cabinet actually seems like a nice idea... except that "AppStore" and "Emulator" (MAME) don't mix. So you'd have to have a jailbroken iPad which may take a while.

The problem is that people tend to forget that the essence of April Fool's is "a joke that will last for only a moment, not ruin a person's week". Hence news, Wikipedia and other fountains of truth have no right in celebrating April Fool's because they are very prone to over-exaggerating stuff.

April Fools is just like any other day, but yeah, people shouldn't really go to the extremes and pull pranks that can potentially harm someone.

I did pull one on the Anime Blogosphere, but... I'm guessing it wasn't too convincing, but it was fun making it.

Yep, it's a crime. I'm guessing that 220-250km was a typo, because that would take several days on foot.

Personally, I dislike all practical jokes and jesting "just because it's that day again."

Did ya know that one April Fool's joke made South Korea's stocks drop by 1.5%? The "joke" is the assassination of Bill Gates. The source of the joke is CNN.

I also agree with Ending. People are starting to use April Fool's as an excuse for extreme pranks.
