Yeah, right. But with the Tony Stone Arc and the mentioned 2 recap episodes we really don't have as much time to make some developments. But to at least praise it the anime suceed to hide what kind of ending it going to have till the very end even from veteran VN players.

Anyways I think ep 26 has plenty of time to end it as good as the VN was.

best ending would be 4-some -> reiji, mio, elen and cal

This episode made me so happy(happy because it was one of the best episodes of the series).
Anyone who said it was Reiji's fault about Cal's death, I completely disagree; she refused to listen and challenged him to a duel, Reiji is not god; he's not a hero. In the end he treasures his life and Ein's more, but whatever, I won't go into details.
Can't wait for the finale!
By far the best anime series of 2009 and it's so underrated.

Actually, it was Reiji who challenged Cal to a duel, and Reiji himself blames him for Cal's death. Naturally, it wasn't entirely his fault, but he made the key mistake not to look for her. Otherwise, things would have ended differently.

im speechless...the episode was good...but what happened to cal was not.

I do love the comparison of Reiji to mio's father, and i also loved the scene where Reiji wakes up to Cal driving etc...that was a very touching scene.

But what happened to mio was...ugh i can't believe it. Such a tragic character...she deserved much more than that. *Sigh*...im so mad right now. This makes me super super super super super super super super super super super upser super depressed and super super spuer super mad and angry and ARGHHHH!!!!

p.s. - forgive me...for my outbursts. But i'm oh so sad right now :'(.

I already got it haha...i just don't have the time to play it right now. I've been so busy lately, i was behind by these last two episodes and just finally saw both today.

Though it really is a shame...i wonder why they chose this ending. I feel like the producers thought they might make more of an "impact" by not having a "lovey dovey" happy go-lucky ending...and that seriously frustrates me because I really would've preferred a happier ending, one where they CAN escape from the grasps/wraths of hell and wreak havoc to Inferno (before they leave to live happily ever after) of course.

But no....They have to go and kill off Cal. F*** you producer.

To those who were saying how Elen beating those Godoh Group guys was unrealistic... did you even watch the beginning of the series? It's basically the same as how she and Zwei were portrayed back then, but at least this time she didn't have an aura flowing from her.

theres a chance they could make Ovas for the cal ending, it would be nice if they would make like 3/4 eps for cal and mio endings so every fanbase could enjoy the series.

I was actually refering to when they first met after 2 years. She kept challening him for duels and he tried to explain(half-heartedly) about what happened and how he thought she was dead(can't blame him; no one would have survived that).

Granted Cal had the same but she was already in pieces while Reiji should have had more of a sound judgement to realise that she doesn't really want to die and wants to be with him in actual fact but then why the heck he had to go pull out such a fatal shot out of his ass...I'm really sad an disappointed by this outcome as it just eats me up thinking how Reiji could be so damn stupid... You would think even if he had to shoot her, he wouldn't make it a killing shot but that didn't happen unfortunately and right now I have a "gutting" feeling right in the put of my stomach. Such a shame really, I was wishing a happy end for Cal all the way But as well as feeling sadness I really enjoyed the episode too if only Elen didn't go super mad and wiping out every grunt all by herself (come on, keep at least a bit of realism here ). Spoiler: As a declared Cal-shipper, I'd still give the episode a 10, now that all details were fleshed out with the script. They added a few things and removed a few things, but overall, it worked out the tragic of Cal in the Elen path very well. Call me a terrible softy, but I couldn't proof the episodes with dry eyes. It captured the bitterness of the Phantom world all too well. Extra bonus for the way they gave closure to Mio, too. "Staying together is not love", and the parallel between Reiji and Mio's father were worked out nicely. I wouldn't consider it impossible that we might see a glimpse of her at the end of ep26 once more... but even if not, she was a pleasant addition to the mix. So, on to the conclusion of an excellent conversion.

aulzon Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2009	Well that really didn't make sense: Spoiler for episode 25: Reiji kills Cal and all of the sudden they are cool. Well I might be a bit biased since I wanted to see her live but I felt her death was a bit unnecessary. Perhaps it is because Cal wanted to die and Reiji is just letting her. Maybe it was because I really felt that Cal hating Reiji was a little out there and her whole attitude towards killing him is a bit strange. Next episode is the final showdown and I'm wondering how they will end it. Phantom is a pretty dark thriller so I wouldn't be surprised with a Hamlet style ending.
