I just finished watching Episode 8 of this - Am a bit behind, admittedly.
One thing I've really come to appreciate about Accel World is how self-aware it is. I love the way it truly plays with anime archetypes, cliches, and tropes. I loved how, in Episode 8, Haru thinks about doing the typical anime cliche thing, but then fails to actually do it. That's a clever and lovely way to poke some fun at that old anime cliche, and it definitely made me laugh. The character dynamics between Haru, Kuro, and Niko are also a joy to behold. Pretty fresh take, but still plays around with their respective archetypes enough so that it's easy to get into and appreciate. This show has a nice sense of humor to compliment its steadily building plot and action bits.

And anime is nichee at least in my country. Few years ago it was popular with kids but then it got kinda taken down. Now all you see is some kids stuff at cartoon network or fox kids or variations of it.

So far, rather liking this series. Interesting enough.
I don't think Haruyuki is quite how he looks like; given how he's drawn in a distinctly different style from everyone else, I'd wager that the short, round, Volus-like form we see is Haru's self image of himself, and the real him isn't quite that bad. It's like in Yamato Nadeshiko Schichi Henge, where Sunako's self image of herself, which is seen throughout the manga and anime, is a super deformed Sadako clone - but her real self is actually very pretty. And yes, despite Kuroyuki and Niko being online enemies, it's really cute how they end up sleeping together.

While I can appreciate it's a work of fiction (*ahem* A Harem, sotospeak), I can't get over how absurd the idea is that a kid that looks like that can snag a chick like Black Lotus.
*Buzzer* wrong; doesn't happen IRL. |
