The man in the Infinity Library floated through the endless books, sorting his notes and adjusting his indexing tools, making sure that everything was in order. Once the library was sorted to his specifications, he leaned back and smiled, pleased at the end of an honest day's work.

"Perfect," he said out loud, thinking happy thoughts, looking forward to dinner. "Now to call Nanoha and get-"

The ringing of a cellphone interrupted him, and his voice died off. This wasn't the normal cellphone he carried. No, this was his other cellphone, for his other job. He listened to it in dread, feeling oddly detached, even as his hand raised the phone to his ear and pressed the "Talk" button, his voice saying three simple words: "Go for Scrya."

"Yes sir.

"Yes sir.

"Understood.

"Deep and Hard."

He sighed, replaced his cellphone, and swum towards the exit, fishing in his pocket for his other cellphone, flipping it up and preparing to endure the wrath of she.

"Hello, Nanoha? It's Yuuno. I'm very sorry, but something urgent has come up at work..."

30 minutes later, Yuuno and ten other men were seated in a briefing room, rising as one when their officer entered. His once-black hair was graying rapidly, but he moved with supressed dangerousness in his step, and his eyes shone with purpose, determination, cold fury and pissed offness, behind the clear-lensed glasses he wore.

Some old hands in this platoon spoke of when the LT was once a more cheerful happy go lucky guy, more flamboyant. Tonight, none of that flamboyance was present.

Yuuno wasn't as close to Franz Jaeger as Nanoha was, so his impressions of Jaeger were of a man who was controlled tension, firmness, and quiet professionalism and competance. He found it hard to believe the stories that ten years ago, Lieutenant Jaeger would be running around yelling ridiculously about the true spirit of men...

"As you were, Alpha Platoon," said Franz, Alpha Platoon leader and Assault Company Commander. "We're deploying tonight on an emergency mission. Terrorists with Jewel Seed weapons are planning to fuck up Valentine's night for millions of loving couples. We're going to fuck up theirs." His smile was positively vicious, as were the smiles of most of Alpha Platoon.

"Delta Platoon under 2nd Lt. Kozlov will be taking this batch, Objective Mikuru. We'll take Objective Tsuruya. Bravo will be taking care of Objective Haruhi by themselves."

"Will Bravo be enough?"

"They'd better be, they've got the Master Chief with them."

All of Alpha grinned viciously. Master Chief Sierra-117, known to his few friends as "John" (though only Sergeant Major Ivanovich called him that to his face - or the dreaded "Johnny"), was one helluva Real Man Badass. During the Scaglietti Incident, he and Ivanovich had been dropped into the middle of approximately 600 Gadget Drones. Both men had proceeded to shoot the ever living shit out of the Gadgets, and when his ammo ran out, the Master Chief had simply punched his way through the Drones, keeping the small ones from swarming Ivanovich as the latter sniped larger drones with his 25mm sniper rifle...

"At any rate, yes, I understand that all of you are pissed that you have to cancel romantic dinners. I know how that feels."

"Yeah, right!"

"No, really. The love of my life is more understanding about this than normal people. I wouldn't wish her on the badguys though; she isn't in the mood for prisoners."

Both Lieutenants Jaeger were fearsome people, thought Yuuno, though the female of the subspecies was a lot more cheerful and genki.

Until her tsuntsun power appeared, of course.

"Grab your gear and mount up. We're going to kick terrorist ass tonight. And Sergeant Nagant!"

"Yes, LT!"

"Psycho, for the love of Guiness, please stop groping female prisoners and tying them up with detcord and attaching demo to them."

"OH, I don't tie demo to them anymore, Sir..."

"Psycho, you are not allowed to stuff dildos made from plastic explosives into the nether regions of enemy female combatants."

"But sir, it's a great restraining device!"

"...just don't let me catch you," sighed Franz. "Alright. Dismissed. Grab chow, see the Shepherd and ask for last-minute blessings, and we're off.

Yuuno was unhappy at missing a Valentine's date with Nanoha. On the other hand, he supposed, there was a price to be paid for taking a level in badass...

Franz is walking wih restrained pissed off and dangerous aura because canceled Valentine's Romantic Dinner = No sechs.

Though not much actually happens in terms of action, I like the interactions I see, from Agito's first impressions of Aurion, to the ever suspicious Acous (I want to see those pictures of Ha- *hears cough behind him* ... nevermind ), to Hayate pairing off Yuuno with Nanoha in Vivio's presence(), to Tesla's analysis of the 'new' Aurion (most AWESOME VIBE .

Glad you liked it. It was fun having giving Acous a bit of a stalker vice.

It's good to see such enjoyable BLUECHEESIUM for the New Year again!!!

Grandis foreshadowing starts it off and Agito gets her first impression of Aurion in this. A well-done exchange between Chrono and Acous with Hayate being naughty in front of Vivio, pairing up Yuuno and Nanoha. And at Tesla and Aurion part. That was pretty intense, even for a short while. Every interesting notes section and very much agreed and looking forward. I enjoyed this chapter, especially at certain parts. Looks to be a great start.

Thanks! That Aurion & Tesla part is my favorite in chapter 1.

..and I just spend the last hour reading GuardianS and typing this up while I should be doing my report. I blame you for distracting me from work and itching to get started on the Katrina-centric StorieS while I should be doing something else.

Hmm.... if Aurion is now more human, does that mean he'll be more accepting of Erick's manly challenges and rematches? Does the fire of youth burn once more in Aurion, or just in Erick?

NOTES: At first, I was a bit worried that I’m deviating too much from canon portrayals. But when I reread the manga chapters and listened to some Sound Stages, I realized that the less serious and more emotive sides of the characters are actually shown similarly to how I’m doing it now. Thus, I took some liberalities with the interactions (it’s my story after all… deshou?); as well as liberalities with pushing a particular character trait in some characters. Here, Hayate is a bit more emo, Nanoha is less dense, Yuuno is more aggressive(yet still in denial And what about Keroko-chan…?), Acous gives more ‘She’s mah sistah!’ stalker vibes, Chrono is still feeling the urge for more engaging activities than deskwork, Fate is more sister-like, etc. And of course, I also added some never before shown (or at least not shown enough) StrikerS TV interactions like , Hayate/Nanoha, Fate/Chrono, Hayate/Vivio, Hayate/Yuuno and some OC ones as well such as Aurion/Tesla. Hopefully, I got Tesla’s parts correctly. (Ah, Tesla is so fun to work with in scenarios!) The Nanoha series provided me with too much leeway so I claimed a couple of technological advancements with some Limit Breaks thru Aurion (Canon technology, YOINK! XD); particularly the Blaster System (Aside from Hayate, I felt the need for more Aurion connections with the main character.). I wanted to do another, “I want to go too!” scene for Keroko-chan, but my brain ran dry… (Err… Keroko-kun, halp?)

With regards to improvements in Hayate’s capabilities, I’ll have Aurion tackle the slow mana processing problem. (No worries. I won’t fix it completely. That’ll make Hayate too HAXX.) Tesla is teaching Hayate how to use Schwertkreuz for things other than being a decoration with killer edges. Yet, I have to show some restraint.. She’s still horrible in melee, but not completely helpless like those producers made her to be. (Throws a rock at 7arcs) At least I’ll give her some basic to rudimentary skills instead of clumsy swings. And of course, being a supposedly horrible fighter that the producers never even bothered to expand upon, (Throws a brick at 7arcs) she’ll get some shafting with regards to fighting midway as a captive of the antagonist, but I won’t relegate her to worse-than-side-character treatment like 7arcs did. (Throws a rotten egg at 7arcs) And since the producers were so industrious() to give her only two new spell to work with and none in the final battle (They can’t even show her shooting Hraesvelgr at the Cradle to see if it even fazes it, instead just showing her floating and about to cast spells without showing the spells themselves. And they completely shafted and unashamedly humiliated her Unison, which was her only chance of showing something on the level of Blaster Mode and New Sonic Form! {throws an angry skunk at 7arcs}), I fabricated several new spells for her based on Norse mythology (within reasonable bounds), set up some basic parameter changes upon Unison, and also created a rival character for her who’s also a nuker but uses Greek Mythology-based attacks with the Mid-Childa System.

With Grandis, I’ll tweak his skills a bit later. I gotta give him shorter range and more explosive melee capabilities. I’ve also already made a number of HayateXGrandis argument about opinions scenarios in my mind (literally shouting at each other) that I definitely assure won’t sound childish and more Code Geass-like.(Gotta aim high!) And for Luozorl, I’ll drop the AMF idea completely ( at Liingo and Tk’s smirks) and use some other types of fields that I thought off. (Oh yes, he’s HAXX. He’ll completely turn the protagonists’ advantage around in a few seconds during his first appearance in battle)

Four of Tk’s OCs are to be included near the end of the first half of the story. O’Neil, Felix, Cipher and Pixy. This made me realize that there are four OVER-S additions for the roster! Thus, this lead me to upgrading the scale of the final battle by a considerable margin. I’ll also make a few more OCs (to kill off…).

One of the things worrying me now the issues regarding Saga & Zerstro-dan’s absence during these times. hopefully, Nighty can help… It’s a little tough since Aurion should know about Saga and Co.’s identities and their mission of protecting Hayate by now… I’m thinking if there should be a mention of them…

And finally, I’ll involve Chrono and just ONE more Ace (character constraints) and PLENTY of grunts near the end-game climax. The ending battle is large-scale ala-Cradle. I’d love to pick Nanoha since she’s the main character of the series, but I’m too worried about her condition now. So that narrows it down to Fate and Keroko-chan. For now, Fate has the higher chance of appearing.

Tesla is seen walking briskly towards a singular room at the end of the corridor, her long, blue hair bouncing lightly in tempo to her quick but well-measured strides. A small datapad is clutched in her right arm. As she reached the door, she raised a hand to knock, hesitated, and instead opened the door immediately and poked her head inside. “Ossan~!” she called out loudly in a lively tone.

The only person inside is Aurion, hunched over a small containment field holding the Buch der Nachthimmeis (or the Book of the Night Sky), one of Hayate’s primary devices. He didn’t show any palpable sign of being perturbed by the somewhat abrupt (more like intentionally rude) entrance of the Knight of the Sky, but his left eyebrow twitched noticeably as he paused his typing on the data screen before him.

“What are you doing?” inquired Tesla playfully, obviously paying no heed to the stalled progress.

“Oh, nothing much.” came the reply as Aurion straightened up and turned to look nonchalantly at the smaller girl. His right hand rose to poke Tesla by the forehead as he began a light scolding, “I was just on that one crucial part that might end up refragmenting all the information in the device if I screwed up.” He kept on poking Tesla’s head for every few words he stated “That would have subsequently delayed the installation by several hours. So you should be thankful that I didn’t,” He finished by raising his hand higher and patting her head rather heavily, “Tesla.”

The blue-haired girl winced first, and later giggled as she raised a hand to cover her forehead and stuck out her tongue playfully, “Sorry.”

“Ah, well. Have you got what I called for?”

“Yup. It’s right here.” Tesla answered, handing over the datapad to him.

“Thank you.” Instead of taking the datapad, Aurion turned around and began to work on the Tome again. The datapad simply got surrounded by a cobalt glow and levitated out of Tesla’s hand, floating in front of Aurion and flipping a few pages. “With this data, I should be able to do the proper recalibrations for Schwertkreuz faster…”

“You’re welcome.” Tesla replied cheerfully. “………” Clasping her hands behind her, she stepped forward and bent sideways, gazing curiously at Aurion’s face. “Hmm~,” she stared at his face for several seconds, “I guess they were right.” she mumbled thoughtfully afterwards.

Aurion ignored her first as he finished the rest of the adjustments. After finishing, he closed the several screens and willed the datapad to land on his left hand. “Nanda?” he inquired as he bent sideways himself to match the stare of the girl.

Tesla straightened up and stepped back, with Aurion following cue, “You’re eyes… They were glowing just now, huh?”

“Ah.” Aurion blinked once and smiled strangely, “It seems like they do.” he says later as his eyes begin glowing cobalt, advertently causing exactly twenty strands of hair hanging from Tesla’s shoulder the glow and float gently in front of her face. “And it also seems like it came with a certain bonus”

Tesla raised her hands to let her fingers brush with her currently ‘alive’ hair. As if reacting to the touch, the six strands braided themselves into a loose double-helix pattern. “Wow… So it seems like your control actually improved along with it…”

“Yes… That much is true.” Replies Aurion as the hair strands straighten themselves and settles back on Tesla’s shoulders. The glow in his eyes receded.

“Any drawbacks, Ossan?”

“You tell me.”

“Well for one, I think it’s too conspicuous.”

“Touché.”

“What caused it?” asked Tesla, twirling the now inactive lock of hair around her fingers.

Aurion shrugged, “Who knows?”

Tesla’s eyes sharpened, “You’re lying.”

“Am I now?” Aurion eyelids close halfway as he stared directly down at Tesla’s own.

“I know you are… No matter how you make your eyes move.” Tesla crosses her arms and continues the oddly matched staring contest, “There are already too many weird things about you, Ossan; I intent to find out about the newer ones before they get out of hand.”

The older man only chuckles and pats Tesla’s head, “What’s this…? It looks like I have someone who’s investigating my case.” Aurion chides Tesla teasingly. “Good luck in trying to figure me out, Mahou Tantei (Magic Detective) Tesla-kun.”

“Ehehe~.”

“Heh.”

The two burst into chuckles. After a short while, the two can already be seen conversing casually at the study table; with Aurion sitting on the chair while Tesla was on the table sitting with her knees and elbows together. Her chin rested on her hands while her ankles were crossed and swinging to and fro. They were talking to each sideways.

“Normandy, ka? Finally, command of a ship for yourself.”

“Yeah.” Tesla replied enthusiastically as she dislodged her arms to use them in leaning back on the table with her hands. “The crew is a bit slow for now, but I’ll whip them into shape soon enough.”

“Oh?” a grin spread across Aurion’s face, “I feel sorry them then…” he casually remarked.

Tesla shot a glare at him, “And oh what could you be implying by that, Ossan~?”

“I’ll leave that to your imagination.” Aurion replied sarcastically, dodging a playful kick to his head from Tesla soon afterwards (Well, with Tesla being a Wolkenritter, just a playful kick might actually end up being powerful enough to knock out a normal person). “Anyway,” he dodged a few more kicks, his left hand at last coming up as a blur to catch both of her ankles in his left prosthetic hand (and also his primary device; Reishiki, the expanded-function Storage Device/Prostheric arm which is currently cloaked by transformation magic to look like a normal arm) as she tried to kick him with both feet, “How’re the tutorials with Hayate going?” he asked as Tesla began squirming her legs to loosen his hold (to no avail).

“They’re going fine.” Tesla replied with virtually no change in her tone or expression despite her efforts to free herself from her current predicament, “Hayate-chan may not be the fastest learner there is. But she picked up the rudiments rather quickly.” She tried to pull back her legs harder but failed compared to the mechanical strength of Aurion’s hand holding her ankles together. “And that’s how the way it should be. I’m the best teacher for her in that department. But I’m not always available due to being in my own separate unit.” She gave up her struggling after a few more moments and left her restrained legs suspended limply, prompting Aurion to finally release his hold on her ankles with the implied assurance of no more attempted kicks to his head. “Staff-fighting, as well as any other form of physical combat was never in her field of specialty. So I must say it’s a pleasant surprise that she could actually learn at that pace.”

“Hoho~…” Aurion rested his chin on his left fist, “And that’s not exactly what I expect to hear. Going by proper standards?” he asked furtively.

Tesla blinked once, twice, followed by a slightly embarrassed expression on her features, “Not… good enough.” She finally muttered with some hesitation; as well as a light blush on her cheeks.

“Hahahahahaha!” a burst of derisive laughter burst from Aurion’s mouth, “As expected, not even you can bear to be too strict with her!”

The glare that appeared on the eternal teenager’s face afterwards would have sent those who knew during the rise of the Yami no Sho Incidents running for their lives, (despite being tinged by the faint irritated blush) “But still, average is still better than doing poorly.” she replied grouchily. “Hmph! What about you?”

“What about me?” Aurion asked in turn, eyeing Tesla’s slightly fuming face with amusement, “Hayate or the other three Aces rarely ever got it off easily with me with regards to performance despite my close regards.” Several memories passed through his mind… That of the four Aces at different situations… The four looked upset, even tearful at several instances as far as he can remember those times he was rather strict with them. The memories made him smile wider, “That much is true; don’t you think so, Tesla?”

“There’s still the preferential treatment there, no matter how small.” She insisted.

“Aah, but I have the freedom to do so… since I’m not in the military.” He countered. “I’m just a harmless researcher with a lot of free time and a good grasp of several types of standards.”

Tesla smirked mischievously, “What kind of ‘harmless’ researcher actually runs around with enough equipment and tricks to actually match one or more elite mages?”

Aurion closed one eye in a casual wink, “I guess I can be considered an exception, then.” Tesla countered by sticking out her tongue.

“Anyway…” Tesla shifted subjects as she activated and browsed thru a data screen beside her on Aurion’s table, “Are these the extra plans for Keroko-chan and the other’s devices?”

“Yes.” Aurion replied as he activated another screen himself and shuffled thru several windows, finally showing the specs of the Intelligent Device of Nanoha, Raising Heart. “Though they’re not completely in my jurisdiction, I did manage to gather some important data on the three other devices from the battles during the Jail Scaglietti Incident. Due to these devices being used in their maximum capacity, I’m now able to obtain proper statistical info at extreme conditions. Oh. And not just from the Intelligent Devices.” he added as the screen scrolled to Vita’s Armed Device, “From Graf Eisen as well.”

Tesla read thru some of the plans regarding Artherion, Takamachi Georashi Keroko, Nanoha’s adopted sister’s Device, “And I see Artherion packs a bit more data compared to Bardiche or Raising Heart…”

“Naturally, with what it’s built for. For now, Artherion’s design is excellent and I can only suggest some light modifications with the fine tuning. The same goes for Bardiche. However,” he raised his right hand to comb back his hair lightly, “I’d like to give Raising Heart some more drastic changes. What with that Blaster System proving quite troublesome…” his expression turned serious.

“Oh…” Tesla’s eyes glinted slightly in realization, “I remember now… You were one of the associate designers of that particular Limit Break system.”

“Correct. Her and Fate’s Limit Break Systems in particular are the two out of the four available that I was directly involved in…” Aurion leaned back on his chair and sighed heavily, “Despite all that’s been said and done, the Blaster System’s still just a way of raising the firepower mage to that of the Elysium’s,” he said, referring to the less recent infantry-sized ‘Modouho’ (Magic Cannon) weapons, (See A’s to StrikerS manga last chapter. I just gave the huge cannon Nanoha’s holding a name.) “as well as the overall combat capability; but at the price of their life… That’s a little too hefty for a deal. And I intend to lower those risks…”

Tesla’s expression softened, “Feeling… guilty?” she inquired.

“A bit.” He admitted wistfully. “8%, or around 101,600 out of 1,270,000 magical units, gone. And that’s a big deal for me, considering I only possess around 736,000 units on my own… Imagine how much worst it would affect the person if he or she isn’t as powerful or as tough as Nanoha…” He rubbed his temples, “I understand that the situation was out of control. But it does really make a person feel a bit disappointed when he knows that he has a possible dampener to the risks involved with one of the systems he co-developed, only to have them come later when it’s already too late. And there are also the Minority Faction’s Anti-AMF development plans that never got finished in time. And even now that they’re finished, they’re still terribly inefficient.” Aurion shrugged, “While we're on the subject, Nanoha’s career WILL get derailed somehow with this. Given how reckless she can be at times… And she’s still so young…” he reached over and borrowed the data screen containing Artherion’s data from Tesla, “The same applies for Keroko, but on a slower but more tenacious way… due to you-know-what.”

“I know…” Tesla sighed. “Though there’s nothing much one can do, in both their cases.” She bent on her back and looked thoughtfully at the ceiling, “Hayate-chan, Vita-chan and Fate-chan’s cases are easier, right?” she bent forward again, reading another line of data.

I don’t think recalibrations are even necessary.” Aurion smirked as he dug out Schwertkreuz’s portable form from his pocket, “And the one I’m working on right now, is more of a chance for Hayate to improve her individual combat performance instead of any sort of power-enhancer… a small gift from me, more than anything else. The issues with the Takamachi’s are currently the most difficult matters to deal with. And their devices have the most involvement with my research... surpassing human limitations with as small repercussions as possible, as well as more unique dealings with exceptional types of energy, such as Neltharion’s taint.” He raised his left hand and clenched it slowly, producing mechanical sounds, “I intend to challenge those boundaries.”

“Hmm~… How thoughtful~…” Tesla remarked coyly. “You’re trying to make them seemingly even more powerful as safely as possible. A fine way to express how much you care…”

“Well,” Aurion replied, still smiling as he repocketed Schwertkreuz, “even though I won’t try denying that there’s an issue of concern for them, I also have the excuse of their devices being powerful and often-used prototypes.” He snapped his fingers, causing all the screens to scroll thru several articles of data quickly. “So they’re a reliable source of new combat data for the later implementation of better magitech elements to the TSAB military force. Plus, they give me plenty of new material that I can’t obtain for myself to work on in my own projects. It’s almost a complete win-win-win situation.”

“You sure know how to candy-coat your objectives.”

“Naturally.” he crossed his arms and leaned back even further on his seat, “How about it, would you like me to take in Gungnir along my upgrade projects as well?” he added as an afterthought.

“Don’t you even dare think of trying to alter Gungnir!” Tesla snapped back swiftly.

“Aw, why not?” Aurion asked in a mock disappointed tone, “The Lightning Bowgun concept has already been drawn out.”

“You even plotted out an upgrade plan without prior notice!” Tesla breathed out exasperatedly as she flicked away a strand of hair in front of her eyes, “Sorry. But unlike Vita-chan, I don’t really think that I need another mode for my device… though I must admit that’s an interesting prospect.”

“Well, should you change your mind, what about you Gungnir?” he addressed Tesla’s device, which was currently in its pendant form around her neck “It’s interesting isn’t it?”

[Ja.] replied a mechanical voice.

“Still talking to other people’s devices arbitrarily, huh, Ossan?’

“I don’t remember there being a ban on that matter.”

“Ran out of things to say?” asked Aurion while closing his eyes and leaning back further to make his chair stand on its hind legs.

Tesla only sighed and closed her eyes, “No… I just recompiled and reanalyzed the recent events…” she opened her eyes and stared at him perceptively “You sure have changed a lot… Ossan…”

“Oh?” Aurion’s eyes opened slowly, revealing an unnervingly analytical expression in his eyes, lowering his chair back to four legs again. “Would you mind sharing your observations then, Tesla…?”

The shift of atmosphere between the two was so quick it was positively frightening. But it wasn’t one of hostility, but one of a match of wits, Tesla’s tone changed accordingly, losing its playful cadence and being replaced by an almost emotionless and systematic note, “I had my doubts in the past, but now I’ve confirmed it after talking with you…” she crossed her legs and leaned forward, “You’re an excellent actor, but I can’t be fooled so easily… Compared to how you were for almost a decade ago until recently…” she rested her elbow on her thigh and placed her chin on her palm, her half-lidded eyes glinting strangely. Her posture and expression radically changed how she seemed to be. A while ago, she looked just like any playful teenager. Now, she looked a few years more mature than she appears with her aloof posture, “You seem to be more… human…”

“Hmm…” Aurion’s own expression changed severely as well; his eyes losing their usual roguish glint and being replaced by bottomless dark orbs devoid of emotion, “And…?”

“I always observed you whenever I can…” Tesla continued, “In the past, I always felt something abnormal with you… You were undecipherable… I couldn’t figure you out no matter how hard I tried.” Her other hand lifted up to twirl a stray lock of her hair, her eyes gazing sidewards to it, “It was a little unnerving, to be honest… To think you were able to hide so much under that cheerful mask of yours so well… You also managed to do some crazy stuff without batting an eyelash… There was some strange pressure there…” her eyes slid back to stare against his, “Now… it all just disappeared… I’ve never seen you so completely blithe like this. Not to mention talking openly about being concerned about anyone… Nor do you seem to be planning something all the time anymore… Simply put,” she flicked back the lock of hair she was holding, “it’s no longer you.”

Aurion remained expressionless during the stoic tirade, “In the end, what are you trying to prove?” Aurion asked coldly, his voice a fear-provoking whisper. “That I’m a different person?”

“Precisely…” Tesla replied just as frostily. Her free hand extended leisurely, her finger pointed at Aurion’s face, “You… are not Aurion Dauer. Who are you and what did you do to Ossan?”

“Ha…” Aurion’s eyes closed as a crazed grin spread across his face, “Hahaha…” his body slowly began shaking, “Hahahahahaha!” he later laughed out loud. His almost demented laughter was terrifying to hear. The laughter continued for several more seconds, with Tesla, unfazed, only observing silently.

“So I was right, after all…” Tesla whispered.

Aurion’s laughter slowly abated, “My, my… You’re too smart for your own good, little blue lady…” he replied as his eyes opened slowly, revealing his irises currently glowing with a bright azure glow, “Indeed, I am not the Aurion Dauer that you knew…” his eyes narrowed, “And now that you know…” the glow grew brighter as he stood up.

“Ugh.” Tesla tensed as a cobalt glow began surrounding the area around her body, she tried shifting only to find out she was held in place by the blue field. “Kisama…” she directed a glare at him.

He stood up, “Hmm… What to do now that my cover’s blown…?” he continued as his right hand slowly reached towards her head… “A reckless, reckless move, Tesla…” When his hand finally hovered over her head, he sighed and patted her head warmly, “Cut!” he declared jovially, as if the past few seconds never happened. The blue field broke away as well. Then, the two burst into an infectious round of laughter.

The stifling pressure that was building up vanished as if it was never there. Tesla’s serious expression reverted back to her bright and cheery smiling appearance. She raised her head to look at Aurion’s face, winked and asked, “Well? Was I correct?”

“Yes, you were.” Aurion replied as he ruffled Tesla’s hair rather roughly, earning an indignant squeal from the blue-haired girl. “Since when did you notice?”

“Since a few months ago…” Tesla grabbed Aurion’s wrist with both her hands and lifted his hand off her head. She then began fixing her hair with her fingers, “But really, what caused the sudden change? Ossan acting and feeling like a normal person is NOT normal.”

“Well…” Aurion sat back on his chair, “Let’s just say there’s a heavy weight that been lifted from my shoulders… So I can relax completely now.”

“Won’t you dive into specifics?” Tesla asked as she uncrossed her legs and began swinging them alternately.

“Not now. I’m still not in the mood to tell.” Aurion replied mildly. He smirked, “Disappointed?”

“I see…” Tesla acknowledged and jumped off the table, landing on the ground with her arms outstretched, she turned to face him, clasping her hands behind her back, “And no, I’m not disappointed. I like Ossan better this way.” She then smiled vibrantly.

“Heh.” Aurion smiled back, “Reasons?”

“Several.” Tesla raised her hand and ticked off her fingers on her right, “First, you’re now definitely easier to annoy.”

Aurion’s left eyebrow twitched once, “So that’s a good thing, now?!”

Ignoring him, Tesla continued, “Second, you’re easier to figure out. With this, I can follow the kind of game you’re playing easier and beat you more in our strategy games.”

“I see…” he stroked his chin, “Rather selfish reasons so far, though.”

“Of course.” Tesla winked and stuck out her tongue before continuing, “Third, Signum and the others also noticed, though at varying degrees. They’ve become noticeably more relaxed around you as well since you don’t seem to be always plotting something evil anymore.”

“That’s good.”

“Fourth, Hayate-chan and the other Aces would also surely notice or may have already noticed. And they’ll like you better with this.” She suddenly paused and tapped her chin in a thoughtful expression, “Oh, wait… That can’t be very good.”

“Is it now?” Aurion’s right eyebrow twitched this time.

“Fifth,” Tesla’s smile brightened, “I can trust you better even if you’re still a near constant liar.”

Aurion blinked once, and then a wide smile appeared on his face, “Glad to be of service.”

“And that wraps it up.” Tesla cheerfully concluded, spinning on her heel, “Thank you for letting me confirm my suspicions, Ossan.” She said as she walked towards the door. “I had fun.”

“Sure. By the way, do tell me if you’d want the upgrades to Gungnir later.” Aurion raised a hand for farewell.

Tesla stopped just as she was about to exit the door, looked back sideways and raised her left hand, smiling, “I'll think about it. Ja ne~, Ossan.” The sliding door closed.

“More human… ka?” Aurion whispered to himself. He then started chuckling, “Exactly how it turned out to be, don’t you think, Almaria?”

[Hai.] replied Almaria, his second device inserted at one of the holding fields. She is a one-of-a-kind Synchronization Device that he developed himself as a multi-function performance enhancer A.I. when attached to Reishiki. She takes the appearance of a cellphone [Finally, you have achieved your goal.]

“Ahh…” Aurion smiled reflectively as he stared at the ceiling, “It was a long and painful journey… Having the very concept and understanding of human emotions taken from me…” he sighed as he raised his left arm, a picture of a group of people shown. His eyes lingered on the stunningly beautiful lavender-haired girl with kind, light-blue eyes; a girl with a stunning resemblance in appearance with Yagami Hayate. “I feel like a fool still doing this… but I’ve done it… I’m living again… Almaria… everyone…”

This time… Almaria the device didn’t reply. That is because she knew that she isn’t the one Aurion is referring to…

But really… Duraxyll 2… You sure know how to pick the proper location, Harlaown… he thought as he removed Schwertkreuz from his pocket, walking a short distance and depositing it to a holding field. The sister planet of Duraxyll… The planet that got ruined because of me… His eyes glowed again as the datapad Tesla delivered earlier flew to his hand. I guess this is for the best… I know everyone’s dead… but still… I want the chance to apologize… even if only to the planet itself… Next week…

A string of commands left his lips, “Reinitialize data recompilation and the installation of System XG-366. Ready backup system check, Z201. Set priority to rank AAA+. Notify me when recalibration is ready.”

In many ways, I’m stronger now. But I’m also weaker in just as many ways… I missed this feeling… He once again sat and leaned back his chair to make it stand on its two hind legs… It started ten years ago… And who would expect it to end that way He held his head with his right hand while staring at the ceiling, smiling contentedly, Just being called-

Hayate, who just entered, first looked a little surprised, but later succumbed into giggles at Aurion’s condition, lying on his back in a ridiculous pose with scattered paraphernalia around him. She walked quickly and kneeled beside his head, sporting the sweetest smile she can muster as she greeted him again, “Hello, Oji-chan!”

“Damn it all, Hayate!” Aurion grunted painfully as his eyes opened to glower at his niece… and recently, daughter figure during some rare occasions (I’d much rather call it dependent on Hayate’s whims), such as now. “I told you not to call me that impulsively! You’ll give people weird ideas!”

“Bleh~.” Hayate stuck out her tongue playfully, “Sorry. Need some help getting up, Oji-chan?”

“No.” Aurion replied as he levitated back upright, bringing along the rest of the stuff that fell down. “And you, little girl.” he laid his hand on Hayate’s head, hard. “You’re going to get detention.”

“E-eh?” Hayate looked intimidated, acting the part properly.

“I’ve recently finished the Bookmark System on the Tome. And you are to memorize and master all of its functions within three days!”

“EH?!” Hayate squealed in protest. “But Oto-”

Aurion quickly lowered his face directly in front of hers and gave his most intimidating frown, “Call me that again right now and I’ll force you to learn how to use the new system within the hour!”

Hayate moaned in protest, making an endearing doe-eyed expression, “But you told me I can call you that when we’re alone!”

“I never said anything of the sort.” Aurion countered tersely. “Just on some rare occasions. RARE, get it?!”

The girl only pouted childishly and looked down, “Hai.”

Heh… Oh yes, I really am weaker now… Aurion sighed inwardly as he finally smiled at her. But I wouldn’t have it any other way.

NOTES: At first, I was a bit worried that I’m deviating too much from canon portrayals. But when I reread the manga chapters and listened to some Sound Stages, I realized that the less serious and more emotive sides of the characters are actually shown similarly to how I’m doing it now. Thus, I took some liberalities with the interactions (it’s my story after all… deshou?); as well as liberalities with pushing a particular character trait in some characters. Here, Hayate is a bit more emo, Nanoha is less dense, Yuuno is more aggressive(yet still in denial And what about Keroko-chan…?), Acous gives more ‘She’s mah sistah!’ stalker vibes, Chrono is still feeling the urge for more engaging activities than deskwork, Fate is more sister-like, etc. And of course, I also added some never before shown (or at least not shown enough) StrikerS TV interactions like , Hayate/Nanoha, Fate/Chrono, Hayate/Vivio, Hayate/Yuuno and some OC ones as well such as Aurion/Tesla. Hopefully, I got Tesla’s parts correctly. (Ah, Tesla is so fun to work with in scenarios!) The Nanoha series provided me with too much leeway so I claimed a couple of technological advancements with some Limit Breaks thru Aurion (Canon technology, YOINK! XD); particularly the Blaster System (Aside from Hayate, I felt the need for more Aurion connections with the main character.). I wanted to do another, “I want to go too!” scene for Keroko-chan, but my brain ran dry… (Err… Keroko-kun, halp?)

With regards to improvements in Hayate’s capabilities, I’ll have Aurion tackle the slow mana processing problem. (No worries. I won’t fix it completely. That’ll make Hayate too HAXX.) Tesla is teaching Hayate how to use Schwertkreuz for things other than being a decoration with killer edges. Yet, I have to show some restraint.. She’s still horrible in melee, but not completely helpless like those producers made her to be. (Throws a rock at 7arcs) At least I’ll give her some basic to rudimentary skills instead of clumsy swings. And of course, being a supposedly horrible fighter that the producers never even bothered to expand upon, (Throws a brick at 7arcs) she’ll get some shafting with regards to fighting midway as a captive of the antagonist, but I won’t relegate her to worse-than-side-character treatment like 7arcs did. (Throws a rotten egg at 7arcs) And since the producers were so industrious() to give her only two new spell to work with and none in the final battle (They can’t even show her shooting Hraesvelgr at the Cradle to see if it even fazes it, instead just showing her floating and about to cast spells without showing the spells themselves. And they completely shafted and unashamedly humiliated her Unison, which was her only chance of showing something on the level of Blaster Mode and New Sonic Form! {throws an angry skunk at 7arcs}), I fabricated several new spells for her based on Norse mythology (within reasonable bounds), set up some basic parameter changes upon Unison, and also created a rival character for her who’s also a nuker but uses Greek Mythology-based attacks with the Mid-Childa System.

With Grandis, I’ll tweak his skills a bit later. I gotta give him shorter range and more explosive melee capabilities. I’ve also already made a number of HayateXGrandis argument about opinions scenarios in my mind (literally shouting at each other) that I definitely assure won’t sound childish and more Code Geass-like.(Gotta aim high!) And for Luozorl, I’ll drop the AMF idea completely ( at Liingo and Tk’s smirks) and use some other types of fields that I thought off. (Oh yes, he’s HAXX. He’ll completely turn the protagonists’ advantage around in a few seconds during his first appearance in battle)

Four of Tk’s OCs are to be included near the end of the first half of the story. O’Neil, Felix, Cipher and Pixy. This made me realize that there are four OVER-S additions for the roster! Thus, this lead me to upgrading the scale of the final battle by a considerable margin. I’ll also make a few more OCs (to kill off…).

One of the things worrying me now the issues regarding Saga & Zerstro-dan’s absence during these times. hopefully, Nighty can help… It’s a little tough since Aurion should know about Saga and Co.’s identities and their mission of protecting Hayate by now… I’m thinking if there should be a mention of them…

And finally, I’ll involve Chrono and just ONE more Ace (character constraints) and PLENTY of grunts near the end-game climax. The ending battle is large-scale ala-Cradle. I’d love to pick Nanoha since she’s the main character of the series, but I’m too worried about her condition now. So that narrows it down to Fate and Keroko-chan. For now, Fate has the higher chance of appearing.

Auris was looking through Fate's file.

Plot questions aside (It is hinted here that Riot 6 is a bigger force than the canon version, having 2 support platoons of grunts, and this is during Auris' inspection of Riot 6), there's a perfectly good explanation for this crack. Just passing it through the censors so I won't have to change it later.

Plot questions aside (It is hinted here that Riot 6 is a bigger force than the canon version, having 2 support platoons of grunts, and this is during Auris' inspection of Riot 6), there's a perfectly good explanation for this crack. Just passing it through the censors so I won't have to change it later.

NOTES: At first, I was a bit worried that I’m deviating too much from canon portrayals. But when I reread the manga chapters and listened to some Sound Stages, I realized that the less serious and more emotive sides of the characters are actually shown similarly to how I’m doing it now. Thus, I took some liberalities with the interactions (it’s my story after all… deshou?); as well as liberalities with pushing a particular character trait in some characters. Here, Hayate is a bit more emo, Nanoha is less dense, Yuuno is more aggressive(yet still in denial And what about Keroko-chan…?), Acous gives more ‘She’s mah sistah!’ stalker vibes, Chrono is still feeling the urge for more engaging activities than deskwork, Fate is more sister-like, etc. And of course, I also added some never before shown (or at least not shown enough) StrikerS TV interactions like , Hayate/Nanoha, Fate/Chrono, Hayate/Vivio, Hayate/Yuuno and some OC ones as well such as Aurion/Tesla. Hopefully, I got Tesla’s parts correctly. (Ah, Tesla is so fun to work with in scenarios!) The Nanoha series provided me with too much leeway so I claimed a couple of technological advancements with some Limit Breaks thru Aurion (Canon technology, YOINK! XD); particularly the Blaster System (Aside from Hayate, I felt the need for more Aurion connections with the main character.). I wanted to do another, “I want to go too!” scene for Keroko-chan, but my brain ran dry… (Err… Keroko-kun, halp?)

With regards to improvements in Hayate’s capabilities, I’ll have Aurion tackle the slow mana processing problem. (No worries. I won’t fix it completely. That’ll make Hayate too HAXX.) Tesla is teaching Hayate how to use Schwertkreuz for things other than being a decoration with killer edges. Yet, I have to show some restraint.. She’s still horrible in melee, but not completely helpless like those producers made her to be. (Throws a rock at 7arcs) At least I’ll give her some basic to rudimentary skills instead of clumsy swings. And of course, being a supposedly horrible fighter that the producers never even bothered to expand upon, (Throws a brick at 7arcs) she’ll get some shafting with regards to fighting midway as a captive of the antagonist, but I won’t relegate her to worse-than-side-character treatment like 7arcs did. (Throws a rotten egg at 7arcs) And since the producers were so industrious() to give her only two new spell to work with and none in the final battle (They can’t even show her shooting Hraesvelgr at the Cradle to see if it even fazes it, instead just showing her floating and about to cast spells without showing the spells themselves. And they completely shafted and unashamedly humiliated her Unison, which was her only chance of showing something on the level of Blaster Mode and New Sonic Form! {throws an angry skunk at 7arcs}), I fabricated several new spells for her based on Norse mythology (within reasonable bounds), set up some basic parameter changes upon Unison, and also created a rival character for her who’s also a nuker but uses Greek Mythology-based attacks with the Mid-Childa System.

With Grandis, I’ll tweak his skills a bit later. I gotta give him shorter range and more explosive melee capabilities. I’ve also already made a number of HayateXGrandis argument about opinions scenarios in my mind (literally shouting at each other) that I definitely assure won’t sound childish and more Code Geass-like.(Gotta aim high!) And for Luozorl, I’ll drop the AMF idea completely ( at Liingo and Tk’s smirks) and use some other types of fields that I thought off. (Oh yes, he’s HAXX. He’ll completely turn the protagonists’ advantage around in a few seconds during his first appearance in battle)

Four of Tk’s OCs are to be included near the end of the first half of the story. O’Neil, Felix, Cipher and Pixy. This made me realize that there are four OVER-S additions for the roster! Thus, this lead me to upgrading the scale of the final battle by a considerable margin. I’ll also make a few more OCs (to kill off…).

One of the things worrying me now the issues regarding Saga & Zerstro-dan’s absence during these times. hopefully, Nighty can help… It’s a little tough since Aurion should know about Saga and Co.’s identities and their mission of protecting Hayate by now… I’m thinking if there should be a mention of them…

And finally, I’ll involve Chrono and just ONE more Ace (character constraints) and PLENTY of grunts near the end-game climax. The ending battle is large-scale ala-Cradle. I’d love to pick Nanoha since she’s the main character of the series, but I’m too worried about her condition now. So that narrows it down to Fate and Keroko-chan. For now, Fate has the higher chance of appearing.

The man in the Infinity Library floated through the endless books, sorting his notes and adjusting his indexing tools, making sure that everything was in order. Once the library was sorted to his specifications, he leaned back and smiled, pleased at the end of an honest day's work.

"Perfect," he said out loud, thinking happy thoughts, looking forward to dinner. "Now to call Nanoha and get-"

The ringing of a cellphone interrupted him, and his voice died off. This wasn't the normal cellphone he carried. No, this was his other cellphone, for his other job. He listened to it in dread, feeling oddly detached, even as his hand raised the phone to his ear and pressed the "Talk" button, his voice saying three simple words: "Go for Scrya."

"Yes sir.

"Yes sir.

"Understood.

"Deep and Hard."

He sighed, replaced his cellphone, and swum towards the exit, fishing in his pocket for his other cellphone, flipping it up and preparing to endure the wrath of she.

"Hello, Nanoha? It's Yuuno. I'm very sorry, but something urgent has come up at work..."

30 minutes later, Yuuno and ten other men were seated in a briefing room, rising as one when their officer entered. His once-black hair was graying rapidly, but he moved with supressed dangerousness in his step, and his eyes shone with purpose, determination, cold fury and pissed offness, behind the clear-lensed glasses he wore.

Some old hands in this platoon spoke of when the LT was once a more cheerful happy go lucky guy, more flamboyant. Tonight, none of that flamboyance was present.

Yuuno wasn't as close to Franz Jaeger as Nanoha was, so his impressions of Jaeger were of a man who was controlled tension, firmness, and quiet professionalism and competance. He found it hard to believe the stories that ten years ago, Lieutenant Jaeger would be running around yelling ridiculously about the true spirit of men...

"As you were, Alpha Platoon," said Franz, Alpha Platoon leader and Assault Company Commander. "We're deploying tonight on an emergency mission. Terrorists with Jewel Seed weapons are planning to fuck up Valentine's night for millions of loving couples. We're going to fuck up theirs." His smile was positively vicious, as were the smiles of most of Alpha Platoon.

"Delta Platoon under 2nd Lt. Kozlov will be taking this batch, Objective Mikuru. We'll take Objective Tsuruya. Bravo will be taking care of Objective Haruhi by themselves."

"Will Bravo be enough?"

"They'd better be, they've got the Master Chief with them."

All of Alpha grinned viciously. Master Chief Sierra-117, known to his few friends as "John" (though only Sergeant Major Ivanovich called him that to his face - or the dreaded "Johnny"), was one helluva Real Man Badass. During the Scaglietti Incident, he and Ivanovich had been dropped into the middle of approximately 600 Gadget Drones. Both men had proceeded to shoot the ever living shit out of the Gadgets, and when his ammo ran out, the Master Chief had simply punched his way through the Drones, keeping the small ones from swarming Ivanovich as the latter sniped larger drones with his 25mm sniper rifle...

"At any rate, yes, I understand that all of you are pissed that you have to cancel romantic dinners. I know how that feels."

"Yeah, right!"

"No, really. The love of my life is more understanding about this than normal people. I wouldn't wish her on the badguys though; she isn't in the mood for prisoners."

Both Lieutenants Jaeger were fearsome people, thought Yuuno, though the female of the subspecies was a lot more cheerful and genki.

Until her tsuntsun power appeared, of course.

"Grab your gear and mount up. We're going to kick terrorist ass tonight. And Sergeant Nagant!"

"Yes, LT!"

"Psycho, for the love of Guiness, please stop groping female prisoners and tying them up with detcord and attaching demo to them."

"OH, I don't tie demo to them anymore, Sir..."

"Psycho, you are not allowed to stuff dildos made from plastic explosives into the nether regions of enemy female combatants."

"But sir, it's a great restraining device!"

"...just don't let me catch you," sighed Franz. "Alright. Dismissed. Grab chow, see the Shepherd and ask for last-minute blessings, and we're off.

Yuuno was unhappy at missing a Valentine's date with Nanoha. On the other hand, he supposed, there was a price to be paid for taking a level in badass...

Welcome back Aaron, we missed you. Here's a little welcome back present, to stay in the Tesla-vibe:

The Knight and the Adjutant

“Last unit destroyed.” Lucino said as the last echo disappeared of the scanners.

“Good. We have scanned the area, and no trace of a Relic could be found. All units, return to base.”

After a chorus of ‘hai’s Tesla sat back in the commander’s chair. She folded her arms as she began to run the battle over in her mind.

“This was a tough battle, wasn’t it?” Griffith asked as he stood next to her.

“Hmm” Tesla nodded in agreement. The battle had gotten to the point where they even had been forced to field Hayate again to take care of the great numbers of enemies. As usual their tactics were slightly different from the last time they fought, this was expected. However….

“Is there something bothering you?” Griffith asked as he noticed the frown on the captain’s face.

“Yes.” Tesla replied. “Scaglieti somehow manages to send wave after wave of drones to chase down relics. He can even afford to sacrifice them on these kinds of suicide runs which are obviously just there for him to gather information.”

“And we don’t know how he creates them.”

Tesla closed her eyes. “Exactly. Scaglieti is just one man, it is impossible for him to create such vast armies in such short notices, even with those cyborgs to aid him. In fact, those cyborgs ad a whole new level to the problem, as they had to have been created as well. One man cannot do this.”

“Maybe he is using a Lost Logia to make all of this possible?” Griffith offered, but Tesla shook her head.

“I’ve thought about that, but its too easy. Manpower aside, he would need resources to make such devices, he would need the data to make them, and most of all, he would need the funds.”

“So you think someone is supporting him?”

“Oh, I don’t think someone is supporting him, I know someone is. What I don’t know is who, and that is the real headsplitter in this problem.”

“I’m sorry.”

“Hmm?” Still keeping her arms folded, Tesla opened one eye to look at him. “Sorry for what?”

“It must feel like I’m stealing your job at times, with me usually acting as second in command if Yagami-butaicho needs to sortie.”

“You are stealing my job.” Tesla said as she leaned forward to rest one elbow on the console, letting her head rest on her knuckles. “That’s why you’re here, you won’t learn anything with just sitting around watching others giving commands.”

“Ah, in that case, can I join you tomorrow evening, after work is done, to discuss some of my ideas on this matter?”

“Certainly.”

The day turned into evening, and Tesla sighed as she slipped into more casual clothes. Not that she disliked uniforms, but she hated the color brown. Stepping out of her bedroom, she noticed Vita had returned.

“Hayate and Zafira have gone to get dinner. They’ll be here in a minute or so.” The red haired girl told her.

“Okay, thanks Vita.” Tesla was about to continue on her way before being stopped by Vita’s next words.

“Oh, by the way, I saw Griffith and Lucino eating together today.” Vita grinned as Tesla jerked to a halt. “Apparently she had baked a cake for him.” A twitch shot through Tesla, and Vita’s grin grew wider as she went for the killing blow. “Griffith looked really happy when he was eating the cake.”

With those last words, and with a grin that couldn’t possibly get any wider, Vita continued on. She couldn’t win an argument with Tesla to save her life, but small victories like these more then made up for it.

“You have a my-day-couldn’t-get-any-better smile on your face, did something good happen Vita-chan?”

Vita looked towards the source of the voice to see Hayate and Zafira in his humanoid form standing in the doorway, carrying bags of food and ingredients. “Hayate! Yeah, you could say that.”

Hayate looked around. “Where is Tesla? I thought she’d be back by now.”

“Oh, my guess is she’s in the kitchen.” Vita said as she quickly walked away to avoid further inquiry.

Hayate and Zafira blinked before turning their heads to face each other.

“…Did Tesla ever cook before?” Hayate queried.

“Never.” Zafira answered.

A moment of silence reigned in the room before the two bolted towards the kitchen, not wanting to miss this sight.

Tesla stared at the task at hand. This should be easy, she prided herself in her ability to analyze and utilize knowledge in a matter of seconds. She had done so many times before. She had faced hundreds of foes and bested them all. She was not going to lose to a mere cookbook!

…

So what was she supposed to do again?

As Hayate and Zafira peeked around the corner, they were treated with a sight neither of them expected ever to see in their lifetimes. Tesla was standing in the kitchen, wearing an apron and holding a mixer in her left hand, while her other hand had a finger to her lips. A flake of batter stuck to her cheek as she stared at the cookbook with a look of helpless confusion.

Oh yes, Tesla was definitely out of her element here.

“Hooh?” Zafira said as he cupped his chin at the sight. “Now there is a sight I would never thought I would see.”

“Aaaw, she looks so adorable!” Hayate all but squealed. “I’m going to have her help me cooking more from now on.”

The two continued to spy on the blue haired knight’s clumsy attempt at cooking, chuckling as Tesla helplessly tried to break the eggs. Eventually Hayate decided it was time to help the poor girl out of her misery.

“Having fun, Tesla?”

As if struck by lightning Tesla spun around, clenching the mixer with both hands, the flake of batter still stuck to her cheek. “Hayate! Ah, I, uhm, this is…”

“Your first attempt at cooking, obviously.” Hayate grinned. “So tell me, what’s the occasion?”

“O-occasion? Well, you see…” Tesla murmured, trying to find a way to alter the subject.

“See what?” Hayate pressed. She was not going to give in on this one. “You’re baking a cake, obviously this cake is for something…” She eyed Tesla with an evil glint in her eyes “… or someone.” The small, nearly undetectable twitch running through Tesla’s body when Hayate said someone brought a smile to her face. “So who’s the lucky guy?”

“It’s not like that!” Tesla protested. “Griffith and I will be having a small strategical meeting tomorrow and I thought it would be polite to bring something with me.”

“And a cake is the perfect idea?” Hayate pressed on as she raised an eyebrow.

“I… well… I heard he liked cake. It’s only natural to bring something you know the other likes, right?” Tesla argued.

Hayate resisted the urge to shake her head. The urge to make something you know someone likes for a meeting, combined with a twinge of denial. Tell tale signs of a developing crush. “All right then, I’ll help you. After all, I need the kitchen myself soon, and I rather it not looked like a battlefield whenever you’re done.”

Tesla blinked before placing her hands in her sides, huffed and looked away with a glare. “Well sorry for not doing a better job for a first time.”

Hayate giggled. “You weren’t doing that bad. Okay, I take that back, you were doing horrible, but we can work with that and make it better. Now, let’s start of from the beginning, the first thing you do is…”

Zafira looked on as Hayate began cleaning up and explaining how to cook to the culinary deaf knight. Never in his many lives had he ever imagined to see the proud Tesla in the kitchen. Once more he realized how much they had changed since they met their new mistress.

But, he thought as he noticed Hayate flicking away the piece of batter of Tesla’s face, causing the girl to flinch with her left eye in surprise, it was not a change he minded.

The next day came and went by quite uneventful. With no attacks, or Relics found, the day was focused on training the forwards and handling routine administrative business. This was a good thing, as the battle of the day before had left behind a lot of paperwork that needed filling. All in all, the amount of work caused the day to end quickly, and Tesla went to meet up with Griffith. They had agreed to meet at one of the less popular cafeteria. The food was not as good, but it offered a bit more privacy then the cafeteria they normally frequented.

She noticed Griffith was already there, and went to join him at his table. “Sorry I’m late, oh, I brought some cake, it might not be that good but I’m sure it’s better then what they serve here.” She said as she sat down and opened the box. Inside was an easy to eat sponge cake, along with plates and forks.

“Ah, thank you, I almost forgot what the food can be like here.” Griffith answered as he took a piece of the cake.

“So, you said you had your own theories on Scaglietti’s supporters?” Tesla asked as she cut a piece of the cake for herself.

“Yes, I was thinking that he is supported by a group of pro-Lost Logia users. Possibly criminals. They don’t necessarily need to be scientists, all they have to do is provide Scaglieti with the funds and equipment he needs and he can do his work. The reason I believe they could be criminals is because it is easier for Scaglieti to gain access to certain rare pieces of information and equipment.”

“Hmm” Tesla hummed as she took a bite of the cake. “A good theory, but not without its holes. How would a group of criminals even know how to find Scaglieti? They would have to be very well organized.”

“But it is a possibility, isn’t it?” Griffith countered.

“That it is.” Tesla admitted.

“The only thing I’m not sure of is how they would get the information and equipment that Scaglieti needs. Some of them are highly classified and could only have come from the TSAB itself.” Griffith said as he leaned forward to slice of another piece of cake.

Tesla frowned. “Yes, that is indeed cause for concern. If they have the ability to steal information from the TSAB, then that means we could be dealing wit a threat greater then Scaglieti. Either that, or…” Tesla trailed of before finishing her sentence.

“Or?” Griffith pressed as Tesla fell silent.

Tesla shook her head. “Nothing, never mind.”

Griffith stared at Tesla and silence reigned for a moment, before Griffith decided it was a better idea to change topics. “So, what are your plans for the future? I mean, with RF6 being a temporary unit…” he shifted a bit at his lame attempt for a topic change.

“Funny you should ask that. I’ve recently been in contact with some people in the navy about possible positions in the future.”

Griffith blinked. “The navy? Are you sure that’s not going to affect your current career? The relations between ground forces and the navy aren’t exactly top notch.”

“Well, it’s nothing new. I’ve been doing it for quite a while now, almost two years. It’s mostly theoretical studies, and the occasional practice study when traveling on board ships. If it goes smoothly, I’ll be able to transfer to a navy command post without much trouble, since all the paperwork and training will be done by long before that.”

“I see, so what’s your goal?”

“I’m aiming for a command post, and I hope I can pull a few strings and make it to captain right away. Did you know that if I’d transfer now, I would be equal to Hayate in rank by comparison?”

“Really now?” Griffith said surprised.

“Yup, so what are your plans for the future?” Tesla asked, turning the tables towards Griffith this time.

“Well, I hope to be able to transfer to the interstellar navigation bureau…”

The conversation carried on as the two talked about their plans for the future, their current situation and general chatter with little military content. Eventually Griffith decided he would order something for the two of them to drink, if only to wet their dry throats. Fortunately the drinks in the cafeteria were a lot better then the food, and Griffith returned with a small bottle of alcohol.

After all, he reasoned, what harm could it do so late in the evening?

As they continued their chatter, Tesla posed a rather interesting question after taking a gulp from her glass. “So, Griffith, do you have anyone you like?”

“Eh?” Griffith said in surprise. “Well, no, not really why do you ask?”

“You don’t? Really…” Tesla’s eyes remained obscured by her hair, but a small smile could be seen on her face.

“And what about you?” Griffith asked, returning the ball.

“Hmm.” Tesla hummed as she downed the rest of the glass. “Sou ne, maybe I do, maybe I don’t, I’m not sure myself.” Her eyes were still obscured, but the smile grew slightly bigger. Griffith shifted in his hair.

“… Captain?”

Tesla raised her head, and a pair of slightly glassy green eyes stared at Griffith. “..Of duty, quit the captain thing” she slurred, and Griffith realized.

“…You’re drunk, aren’t you?”

“Drunk? Phe, I don drink.” She slurred with a smile.

“You just did.” Griffith pointed out. Then it hit him, he had never told Tesla that the drinks he bought were alcoholic. “All right, I guess we should call it a night. Let’s get back.”

“Not going back, too early, les stay.”

“No, I think it’s a good idea to go back. Come on, I’ll help you get back” Griffith said as he rose from his chair and offered Tesla his hand. She took it, and he helped her out of her chair, for a moment it looked as if she could stand, but she quickly lost balance and would have fallen had Griffith not supported her.

She’s not just drunk… she’s smashed. Griffith realized.

Tesla, who was now using Griffith’s chest as a pillow, hummed comfortably. “Nice pillow.” She hummed.

“Ah, Tesla-san, I really think we should… Tesla-san?”

Unfortunately the only answer he got was the steady breathing of the blue haired knight. With a sigh Griffith realized that she was not going to wake up anytime soon.

Fortunately the corridors were mostly abandoned this late at night. This was good, because a subordinate giving his sleeping superior a piggy bag ride would have looked decidedly odd. Arriving at the correct rooms, he rang the bell. Shamal’s voice could be heard on the other side as the door opened.

“Haaai, I’m coming… Oh my goodness!” she exclaimed at the sight before her.

“Ah, good evening. I apologize for disturbing you this late, but… well…”

“Is something wrong?” Signum said as she appeared in the doorway. She eyed Griffith for a moment, noted Tesla draped on his back, and felt a smirk creeping its way on her face. “Here, let me help you with that.” She said as she took Tesla of Griffith’s back and into her arms. She quickly turned to grin at Griffith again. “Let me guess, you let her drink alcohol?” She theorized.

“I… well yes.” Griffith admitted. “But it was only one glass, surely she can’t…”

Signum stepped back into the room, and Shamal stepped aside and motioned for Griffith to enter. As Signum placed Tesla onto a couch, she continued. “You should know that despite all her tough attitude, Tesla is a lightweight when it comes to alcohol. Even a single glass of alcohol is able to get her completely smashed.”

Griffith couldn’t believe his ears. The Knight of the Sky, a guardian program of the formerly most feared Lost Logia, one of the most dangerous tacticians the bureau… but right now all that seemed to vanish as all he saw on that couch was a drunk girl.

“I..”

“You don’t have to worry.” Signum interrupted him. “She’ll be fine.”

Griffith breathed a sigh of relief. “That’s good to hear. Well, I should be going then.” He turned towards the door and walked out, as soon as he reached the door opening, the voice of Signum stopped him once more.

“One more question Lowran-kun.” Signum called out. “How was the cake?”

Griffith hesitated. The cake… it had lacked in taste in several areas. Quite frankly, it had screamed ‘first attempt at cooking ever!’ but it was not inedible. In fact, you could say that for a first attempt, it was actually…

“It was quite good.” Griffith answered.

Signum closed her eyes and smiled. “I see. Thank you, Lowran-kun.”

Tesla groaned as she turned around in bed. The next morning had come, and with it, a splitting headache. She had yet to find a way to get rid of it and had pretty much given up hope. In fact she was pretty sure she was going to be stuck with this headache for a while.

Without warning the door opened, and a certain red haired knight entered her room. “Oi, Tesla!” Vita’s voice rang like a gong in her head. “It’s morning, get up. Hayate has breakfast ready.”

A muffled moan was her reply ash Tesla buried her head under a pillow. Vita grinned as she watched the squirming girl.

“Had fun last night?” She asked. Again, a muffled moan was her reply.

“Feeling horrible?” Another muffled moan, but this one was definitely an affirmative.

Oh yes, she was going to love this little relation thing.

Meanwhile in the room, Tesla was desperately trying to get rid of the headache. She couldn’t for the love of her life remember how she had gotten back, nor what had happened after the drinks were served.

But worst of all, she had been having a seriously freaky dream last night. And not just one, either.

Maybe a little talk with Shamal was in order.

Half-daemons are incredibly rare, but are the most misunderstood, far more than half-Eta. Most of them result from unions between the followers of the Shadow and the benign Daemons that are spawned passively by the Quera. At least that's what I think at the moment.

The other details are still sketchy, but nevertheless, Agito is that half-demon's UD and she is assigned to find "Caro" in Erio's place.

Chrono/Acous interaction was nice to read, and well done too. Hayate trying to manipulate Vivio to embarras Nanoha and Yuuno was Aurion/Tesla interactions were brilliant! I may be biased, but I loved that part the most, especially when Tesla went analysis mode, I could just hear her talking with Yukana's C.C. voice. And then Hayate came by (causing a brilliant reaction with Aurion ) with a nice touchy moment.

NOTES: At first, I was a bit worried that I’m deviating too much from canon portrayals. But when I reread the manga chapters and listened to some Sound Stages, I realized that the less serious and more emotive sides of the characters are actually shown similarly to how I’m doing it now. Hopefully, I got Tesla’s parts correctly. (Ah, Tesla is so fun to work with in scenarios!) The Nanoha series provided me with too much leeway so I claimed a couple of technological advancements with some Limit Breaks thru Aurion (Canon technology, YOINK! XD); particularly the Blaster System (Aside from Hayate, I felt the need for more Aurion connections with the main character.). I wanted to do another, “I want to go too!” scene for Keroko-chan, but my brain ran dry… (Err… Keroko-kun, halp?)

With regards to improvements in Hayate’s capabilities, I’ll have Aurion tackle the slow mana processing problem. (No worries. I won’t fix it completely. That’ll make Hayate too HAXX.) Tesla is teaching Hayate how to use Schwertkreuz for things other than being a decoration with killer edges. Yet, I have to show some restraint.. She’s still horrible in melee, but not completely helpless like those producers made her to be. (Throws a rock at 7arcs) At least I’ll give her some basic to rudimentary skills instead of clumsy swings. And of course, being a supposedly horrible fighter that the producers never even bothered to expand upon, (Throws a brick at 7arcs) she’ll get some shafting with regards to fighting midway as a captive of the antagonist, but I won’t relegate her to worse-than-side-character treatment like 7arcs did. (Throws a rotten egg at 7arcs) And since the producers were so industrious() to give her only two new spell to work with and none in the final battle (They can’t even show her shooting Hraesvelgr at the Cradle to see if it even fazes it, instead just showing her floating and about to cast spells without showing the spells themselves. And they completely shafted and unashamedly humiliated her Unison, which was her only chance of showing something on the level of Blaster Mode and New Sonic Form! {throws an angry skunk at 7arcs}), I fabricated several new spells for her based on Norse mythology (within reasonable bounds), set up some basic parameter changes upon Unison, and also created a rival character for her who’s also a nuker but uses Greek Mythology-based attacks with the Mid-Childa System.

With Grandis, I’ll tweak his skills a bit later. I gotta give him shorter range and more explosive melee capabilities. I’ve also already made a number of HayateXGrandis argument about opinions scenarios in my mind (literally shouting at each other) that I definitely assure won’t sound childish and more Code Geass-like.(Gotta aim high!) And for Luozorl, I’ll drop the AMF idea completely ( at Liingo and Tk’s smirks) and use some other types of fields that I thought off. (Oh yes, he’s HAXX. He’ll completely turn the protagonists’ advantage around in a few seconds during his first appearance in battle)

Four of Tk’s OCs are to be included near the end of the first half of the story. O’Neil, Felix, Cipher and Pixy. This made me realize that there are four OVER-S additions for the roster! Thus, this lead me to upgrading the scale of the final battle by a considerable margin. I’ll also make a few more OCs (to kill off…).

One of the things worrying me now the issues regarding Saga & Zerstro-dan’s absence during these times. hopefully, Nighty can help… It’s a little tough since Aurion should know about Saga and Co.’s identities and their mission of protecting Hayate by now… I’m thinking if there should be a mention of them…

And finally, I’ll involve Chrono and just ONE more Ace (character constraints) and PLENTY of grunts near the end-game climax. The ending battle is large-scale ala-Cradle. I’d love to pick Nanoha since she’s the main character of the series, but I’m too worried about her condition now. So that narrows it down to Fate and Keroko-chan. For now, Fate has the higher chance of appearing.

I don't think Keroko is possible. After the Jail incident, Keroko is under medical orders not to use any magic whatsoever for at least three months (Phanan threatened to seal them up if she even so much as levitated ). In fact, she is too physically injured to do much anyway, and is in a lot of pain if she moves too much. After being cleared, she still has to take it easy for several months. She's fit enough to return to normal duty by the time of the 'final mock battle' at the end of StrikerS (which, mind you, is a good seven months after the battle with Jail).

I'm still tubbing over what kind of permanent damage she would get from this... But it's going to be something on the same level as Nanoha's, so if you're concerned about her injuries, then Keroko is out of the question too.

On the subject of Artherion, I recently retconned a little tidbit about his past. Formerly he was a device created by Yuuno. I thnk we've established by now that there is no way to create an intelligent device out of scratch in seconds without propper resources, so I used the theory that was once mentioned as the reason Yuuno had Raising Heart. Basically, Artherion is an old Device excavated by Yuuno's tribe.

Well I'm back! Been busy lately, work is a lot more tiring than I imagined. Most of the time when I get back home, I really don't feel like doing anything else. You know how you keep telling yourself you need to start doing the stuff you wanna do, like writing ficlets in the OC thread and stuff, but never get around to it for one reason or another?

Argh! I seriously wish there is 48 hours a day, but if you think about it, it'll probably just mean longer working hours.

I feel you Aaron. As I've always said, the people who wrote StrikerS really should be shot in the head, with a gun powerful enough to blow their stupid brains away. Nothing wrong with the interactions IMO.

As I've stated before, the 82nd is absent for the entire story...too busy doing their own job. However, if you want to give them a cameo, I won't say no to it.

Here's what they're doing for the course of the story:

They're busy on an unspecified Non-Administered World, providing security for the renegotiation of a Free Trade Agreement, set up years ago.

You can call at any time, but the time I have in my head is somewhere between 2/3 and 3/4 story completion, and Hayate is NOT a prisoner.

The way it plays out in my head is that either Hayate, Dauer, or Nanoha places the call.

Potentially anyone could pick up, but the order of probability is, going from GREATEST to LEAST, is:

Arcas>Sevasti>Mel>Boomer.

Of course, you COULD have them in session, in which case Himeya (the Delphinus AI) would answer and take the call, if you want to give him screentime.

Whoever picks up, most of the call plays out the same:

The caller gives whichever Phantasm the current sitrep, who responds that if needed, they can send help in the form of the Delphinus, with Arcas and Mel onboard. This is possible because the 82nd are just security, and the renegotiation is nearly completed ANYWAY. So, if they're in trouble, they just need to send a message saying:

"Gondor calls for aid..."

and the 82nd will reply:

"...and Rohan will answer."

From here on, the call differs depending on who picks up:

Sevasti OR Boomer OR Himeya: The Phantasm makes the caller repeat the message, then hangs up.

Arcas OR Mel: They do the message repeat thing, then tells the caller -

"Listen, if you're in over your head, DO NOT SCREW AROUND. You CALL, understand?"

The Phantasm does this 2 or 3 times, then hangs up.

"Perfect," he said out loud, thinking happy thoughts, looking forward to dinner. "Now to call Nanoha and get-"

The ringing of a cellphone interrupted him, and his voice died off. This wasn't the normal cellphone he carried. No, this was his other cellphone, for his other job. He listened to it in dread, feeling oddly detached, even as his hand raised the phone to his ear and pressed the "Talk" button, his voice saying three simple words: "Go for Scrya."

"Yes sir.

"Yes sir.

"Understood.

"Deep and Hard."

He sighed, replaced his cellphone, and swum towards the exit, fishing in his pocket for his other cellphone, flipping it up and preparing to endure the wrath of she.

"Hello, Nanoha? It's Yuuno. I'm very sorry, but something urgent has come up at work..."

30 minutes later, Yuuno and ten other men were seated in a briefing room, rising as one when their officer entered. His once-black hair was graying rapidly, but he moved with supressed dangerousness in his step, and his eyes shone with purpose, determination, cold fury and pissed offness, behind the clear-lensed glasses he wore.

Some old hands in this platoon spoke of when the LT was once a more cheerful happy go lucky guy, more flamboyant. Tonight, none of that flamboyance was present.

Yuuno wasn't as close to Franz Jaeger as Nanoha was, so his impressions of Jaeger were of a man who was controlled tension, firmness, and quiet professionalism and competance. He found it hard to believe the stories that ten years ago, Lieutenant Jaeger would be running around yelling ridiculously about the true spirit of men...

"As you were, Alpha Platoon," said Franz, Alpha Platoon leader and Assault Company Commander. "We're deploying tonight on an emergency mission. Terrorists with Jewel Seed weapons are planning to fuck up Valentine's night for millions of loving couples. We're going to fuck up theirs." His smile was positively vicious, as were the smiles of most of Alpha Platoon.

"Delta Platoon under 2nd Lt. Kozlov will be taking this batch, Objective Mikuru. We'll take Objective Tsuruya. Bravo will be taking care of Objective Haruhi by themselves."

All of Alpha grinned viciously. Master Chief Sierra-117, known to his few friends as "John" (though only Sergeant Major Ivanovich called him that to his face - or the dreaded "Johnny"), was one helluva Real Man Badass. During the Scaglietti Incident, he and Ivanovich had been dropped into the middle of approximately 600 Gadget Drones. Both men had proceeded to shoot the ever living shit out of the Gadgets, and when his ammo ran out, the Master Chief had simply punched his way through the Drones, keeping the small ones from swarming Ivanovich as the latter sniped larger drones with his 25mm sniper rifle...

Both Lieutenants Jaeger were fearsome people, thought Yuuno, though the female of the subspecies was a lot more cheerful and genki.

Until her tsuntsun power appeared, of course.

"Grab your gear and mount up. We're going to kick terrorist ass tonight. And Sergeant Nagant!"

"Psycho, for the love of Guiness, please stop groping female prisoners and tying them up with detcord and attaching demo to them."

Plot questions aside (It is hinted here that Riot 6 is a bigger force than the canon version, having 2 support platoons of grunts, and this is during Auris' inspection of Riot 6), there's a perfectly good explanation for this crack. Just passing it through the censors so I won't have to change it later.

“Good. We have scanned the area, and no trace of a Relic could be found. All units, return to base.”

After a chorus of ‘hai’s Tesla sat back in the commander’s chair. She folded her arms as she began to run the battle over in her mind.

“This was a tough battle, wasn’t it?” Griffith asked as he stood next to her.

“Hmm” Tesla nodded in agreement. The battle had gotten to the point where they even had been forced to field Hayate again to take care of the great numbers of enemies. As usual their tactics were slightly different from the last time they fought, this was expected. However….

“Is there something bothering you?” Griffith asked as he noticed the frown on the captain’s face.

“Yes.” Tesla replied. “Scaglieti somehow manages to send wave after wave of drones to chase down relics. He can even afford to sacrifice them on these kinds of suicide runs which are obviously just there for him to gather information.”

“And we don’t know how he creates them.”

Tesla closed her eyes. “Exactly. Scaglieti is just one man, it is impossible for him to create such vast armies in such short notices, even with those cyborgs to aid him. In fact, those cyborgs ad a whole new level to the problem, as they had to have been created as well. One man cannot do this.”

“Maybe he is using a Lost Logia to make all of this possible?” Griffith offered, but Tesla shook her head.

“I’ve thought about that, but its too easy. Manpower aside, he would need resources to make such devices, he would need the data to make them, and most of all, he would need the funds.”

“So you think someone is supporting him?”

“Oh, I don’t think someone is supporting him, I know someone is. What I don’t know is who, and that is the real headsplitter in this problem.”

“I’m sorry.”

“Hmm?” Still keeping her arms folded, Tesla opened one eye to look at him. “Sorry for what?”

“It must feel like I’m stealing your job at times, with me usually acting as second in command if Yagami-butaicho needs to sortie.”

“You are stealing my job.” Tesla said as she leaned forward to rest one elbow on the console, letting her head rest on her knuckles. “That’s why you’re here, you won’t learn anything with just sitting around watching others giving commands.”

“Ah, in that case, can I join you tomorrow evening, after work is done, to discuss some of my ideas on this matter?”

“Certainly.”

The day turned into evening, and Tesla sighed as she slipped into more casual clothes. Not that she disliked uniforms, but she hated the color brown. Stepping out of her bedroom, she noticed Vita had returned.

“Hayate and Zafira have gone to get dinner. They’ll be here in a minute or so.” The red haired girl told her.

“Okay, thanks Vita.” Tesla was about to continue on her way before being stopped by Vita’s next words.

“Oh, by the way, I saw Griffith and Lucino eating together today.” Vita grinned as Tesla jerked to a halt. “Apparently she had baked a cake for him.” A twitch shot through Tesla, and Vita’s grin grew wider as she went for the killing blow. “Griffith looked really happy when he was eating the cake.”

With those last words, and with a grin that couldn’t possibly get any wider, Vita continued on. She couldn’t win an argument with Tesla to save her life, but small victories like these more then made up for it.

“You have a my-day-couldn’t-get-any-better smile on your face, did something good happen Vita-chan?”

Vita looked towards the source of the voice to see Hayate and Zafira in his humanoid form standing in the doorway, carrying bags of food and ingredients. “Hayate! Yeah, you could say that.”

Hayate looked around. “Where is Tesla? I thought she’d be back by now.”

“Oh, my guess is she’s in the kitchen.” Vita said as she quickly walked away to avoid further inquiry.

Hayate and Zafira blinked before turning their heads to face each other.

“…Did Tesla ever cook before?” Hayate queried.

“Never.” Zafira answered.

A moment of silence reigned in the room before the two bolted towards the kitchen, not wanting to miss this sight.

Tesla stared at the task at hand. This should be easy, she prided herself in her ability to analyze and utilize knowledge in a matter of seconds. She had done so many times before. She had faced hundreds of foes and bested them all. She was not going to lose to a mere cookbook!

…

So what was she supposed to do again?

As Hayate and Zafira peeked around the corner, they were treated with a sight neither of them expected ever to see in their lifetimes. Tesla was standing in the kitchen, wearing an apron and holding a mixer in her left hand, while her other hand had a finger to her lips. A flake of batter stuck to her cheek as she stared at the cookbook with a look of helpless confusion.

Oh yes, Tesla was definitely out of her element here.

“Hooh?” Zafira said as he cupped his chin at the sight. “Now there is a sight I would never thought I would see.”

“Aaaw, she looks so adorable!” Hayate all but squealed. “I’m going to have her help me cooking more from now on.”

The two continued to spy on the blue haired knight’s clumsy attempt at cooking, chuckling as Tesla helplessly tried to break the eggs. Eventually Hayate decided it was time to help the poor girl out of her misery.

“Having fun, Tesla?”

As if struck by lightning Tesla spun around, clenching the mixer with both hands, the flake of batter still stuck to her cheek. “Hayate! Ah, I, uhm, this is…”

“Your first attempt at cooking, obviously.” Hayate grinned. “So tell me, what’s the occasion?”

“O-occasion? Well, you see…” Tesla murmured, trying to find a way to alter the subject.

“See what?” Hayate pressed. She was not going to give in on this one. “You’re baking a cake, obviously this cake is for something…” She eyed Tesla with an evil glint in her eyes “… or someone.” The small, nearly undetectable twitch running through Tesla’s body when Hayate said someone brought a smile to her face. “So who’s the lucky guy?”

“It’s not like that!” Tesla protested. “Griffith and I will be having a small strategical meeting tomorrow and I thought it would be polite to bring something with me.”

“And a cake is the perfect idea?” Hayate pressed on as she raised an eyebrow.

“I… well… I heard he liked cake. It’s only natural to bring something you know the other likes, right?” Tesla argued.

Hayate resisted the urge to shake her head. The urge to make something you know someone likes for a meeting, combined with a twinge of denial. Tell tale signs of a developing crush. “All right then, I’ll help you. After all, I need the kitchen myself soon, and I rather it not looked like a battlefield whenever you’re done.”

Tesla blinked before placing her hands in her sides, huffed and looked away with a glare. “Well sorry for not doing a better job for a first time.”

Hayate giggled. “You weren’t doing that bad. Okay, I take that back, you were doing horrible, but we can work with that and make it better. Now, let’s start of from the beginning, the first thing you do is…”

Zafira looked on as Hayate began cleaning up and explaining how to cook to the culinary deaf knight. Never in his many lives had he ever imagined to see the proud Tesla in the kitchen. Once more he realized how much they had changed since they met their new mistress.

But, he thought as he noticed Hayate flicking away the piece of batter of Tesla’s face, causing the girl to flinch with her left eye in surprise, it was not a change he minded.

The next day came and went by quite uneventful. With no attacks, or Relics found, the day was focused on training the forwards and handling routine administrative business. This was a good thing, as the battle of the day before had left behind a lot of paperwork that needed filling. All in all, the amount of work caused the day to end quickly, and Tesla went to meet up with Griffith. They had agreed to meet at one of the less popular cafeteria. The food was not as good, but it offered a bit more privacy then the cafeteria they normally frequented.

She noticed Griffith was already there, and went to join him at his table. “Sorry I’m late, oh, I brought some cake, it might not be that good but I’m sure it’s better then what they serve here.” She said as she sat down and opened the box. Inside was an easy to eat sponge cake, along with plates and forks.

“Ah, thank you, I almost forgot what the food can be like here.” Griffith answered as he took a piece of the cake.

“So, you said you had your own theories on Scaglietti’s supporters?” Tesla asked as she cut a piece of the cake for herself.

“Yes, I was thinking that he is supported by a group of pro-Lost Logia users. Possibly criminals. They don’t necessarily need to be scientists, all they have to do is provide Scaglieti with the funds and equipment he needs and he can do his work. The reason I believe they could be criminals is because it is easier for Scaglieti to gain access to certain rare pieces of information and equipment.”

“Hmm” Tesla hummed as she took a bite of the cake. “A good theory, but not without its holes. How would a group of criminals even know how to find Scaglieti? They would have to be very well organized.”

“But it is a possibility, isn’t it?” Griffith countered.

“That it is.” Tesla admitted.

“The only thing I’m not sure of is how they would get the information and equipment that Scaglieti needs. Some of them are highly classified and could only have come from the TSAB itself.” Griffith said as he leaned forward to slice of another piece of cake.

Tesla frowned. “Yes, that is indeed cause for concern. If they have the ability to steal information from the TSAB, then that means we could be dealing wit a threat greater then Scaglieti. Either that, or…” Tesla trailed of before finishing her sentence.

“Or?” Griffith pressed as Tesla fell silent.

Tesla shook her head. “Nothing, never mind.”

Griffith stared at Tesla and silence reigned for a moment, before Griffith decided it was a better idea to change topics. “So, what are your plans for the future? I mean, with RF6 being a temporary unit…” he shifted a bit at his lame attempt for a topic change.

“Funny you should ask that. I’ve recently been in contact with some people in the navy about possible positions in the future.”

Griffith blinked. “The navy? Are you sure that’s not going to affect your current career? The relations between ground forces and the navy aren’t exactly top notch.”

“Well, it’s nothing new. I’ve been doing it for quite a while now, almost two years. It’s mostly theoretical studies, and the occasional practice study when traveling on board ships. If it goes smoothly, I’ll be able to transfer to a navy command post without much trouble, since all the paperwork and training will be done by long before that.”

“I see, so what’s your goal?”

“I’m aiming for a command post, and I hope I can pull a few strings and make it to captain right away. Did you know that if I’d transfer now, I would be equal to Hayate in rank by comparison?”

“Really now?” Griffith said surprised.

“Yup, so what are your plans for the future?” Tesla asked, turning the tables towards Griffith this time.

“Well, I hope to be able to transfer to the interstellar navigation bureau…”

The conversation carried on as the two talked about their plans for the future, their current situation and general chatter with little military content. Eventually Griffith decided he would order something for the two of them to drink, if only to wet their dry throats. Fortunately the drinks in the cafeteria were a lot better then the food, and Griffith returned with a small bottle of alcohol.

After all, he reasoned, what harm could it do so late in the evening?

As they continued their chatter, Tesla posed a rather interesting question after taking a gulp from her glass. “So, Griffith, do you have anyone you like?”

“Eh?” Griffith said in surprise. “Well, no, not really why do you ask?”

“You don’t? Really…” Tesla’s eyes remained obscured by her hair, but a small smile could be seen on her face.

“And what about you?” Griffith asked, returning the ball.

“Hmm.” Tesla hummed as she downed the rest of the glass. “Sou ne, maybe I do, maybe I don’t, I’m not sure myself.” Her eyes were still obscured, but the smile grew slightly bigger. Griffith shifted in his hair.

“… Captain?”

Tesla raised her head, and a pair of slightly glassy green eyes stared at Griffith. “..Of duty, quit the captain thing” she slurred, and Griffith realized.

“…You’re drunk, aren’t you?”

“Drunk? Phe, I don drink.” She slurred with a smile.

“You just did.” Griffith pointed out. Then it hit him, he had never told Tesla that the drinks he bought were alcoholic. “All right, I guess we should call it a night. Let’s get back.”

“Not going back, too early, les stay.”

“No, I think it’s a good idea to go back. Come on, I’ll help you get back” Griffith said as he rose from his chair and offered Tesla his hand. She took it, and he helped her out of her chair, for a moment it looked as if she could stand, but she quickly lost balance and would have fallen had Griffith not supported her.

She’s not just drunk… she’s smashed. Griffith realized.

Tesla, who was now using Griffith’s head as a pillow, hummed comfortably. “Nice pillow.” She hummed.

“Ah, Tesla-san, I really think we should… Tesla-san?”

Unfortunately the only answer he got was the steady breathing of the blue haired knight. With a sigh Griffith realized that she was not going to wake up anytime soon.

Fortunately the corridors were mostly abandoned this late at night. This was good, because a subordinate giving his sleeping superior a piggy bag ride would have looked decidedly odd. Arriving at the correct rooms, he rang the bell. Shamal’s voice could be heard on the other side as the door opened.

“Haaai, I’m coming… Oh my goodness!” she exclaimed at the sight before her.

“Ah, good evening. I apologize for disturbing you this late, but… well…”

“Is something wrong?” Signum said as she appeared in the doorway. She eyed Griffith for a moment, noted Tesla draped on his back, and felt a smirk creeping its way on her face. “Here, let me help you with that.” She said as she took Tesla of Griffith’s back and into her arms. She quickly turned to grin at Griffith again. “Let me guess, you let her drink alcohol?” She theorized.

“I… well yes.” Griffith admitted. “But it was only one glass, surely she can’t…”

Signum stepped back into the room, and Shamal stepped aside and motioned for Griffith to enter. As Signum placed Tesla onto a couch, she continued. “You should know that despite all her tough attitude, Tesla is a lightweight when it comes to alcohol. Even a single glass of alcohol is able to get her completely smashed.”

Griffith couldn’t believe his ears. The Knight of the Sky, a guardian program of the formerly most feared Lost Logia, one of the most dangerous tacticians the bureau… but right now all that seemed to vanish as all he saw on that couch was a drunk girl.

“I..”

“You don’t have to worry.” Signum interrupted him. “She’ll be fine.”

Griffith breathed a sigh of relief. “That’s good to hear. Well, I should be going then.” He turned towards the door and walked out, as soon as he reached the door opening, the voice of Signum stopped him once more.

“One more question Lowran-kun.” Signum called out. “How was the cake?”

Griffith hesitated. The cake… it had lacked in taste in several areas. Quite frankly, it had screamed ‘first attempt at cooking ever!’ but it was not inedible. In fact, you could say that for a first attempt, it was actually…

“It was quite good.” Griffith answered.

Signum closed her eyes and smiled. “I see. Thank you, Lowran-kun.”

Tesla groaned as she turned around in bed. The next morning had come, and with it, a splitting headache. She had yet to find a way to get rid of it and had pretty much given up hope. In fact she was pretty sure she was going to be stuck with this headache for a while.

Without warning the door opened, and a certain red haired knight entered her room. “Oi, Tesla!” Vita’s voice rang like a gong in her head. “It’s morning, get up. Hayate has breakfast ready.”

A muffled moan was her reply ash Tesla buried her head under a pillow. Vita grinned as she watched the squirming girl.

“Had fun last night?” She asked. Again, a muffled moan was her reply.

“Feeling horrible?” Another muffled moan, but this one was definitely an affirmative.

“Should I tell Griffith and Lucino that you aren’t coming to work today?”

Vita grinned as she watched a pillow collide with the wall where her head was just a second earlier. “I’ll leave you to sleep it out.” She said as she rapidly exited the room and closed the door to avoid more feathery projectiles.

Oh yes, she was going to love this little relation thing.

Meanwhile in the room, Tesla was desperately trying to get rid of the headache. She couldn’t for the love of her life remember how she had gotten back, nor what had happened after the drinks were served.

But worst of all, she had been having a seriously freaky dream last night. And not just one, either.

Maybe a little talk with Shamal was in order.

Tesla is such DENIAL EXTRAORDINAIRE, I love it Though out of all the people, I didn't expect Vita to deliver the simultaneous GODLIKE Triple KILL that sends Tesla cooking

In any case, I was wondering whether I should be changing the formating for my story a bit. If I'm not mistaken, reading through a block of superdense text is going to be very exhausting (I re-read Chapter Four, the longest, and it was slightly distracting with too many text, even if the flow was there).

How about a change, where I split them into smaller parts (using more spoiler tags, that is)? Or is the current reading form all right for all?

I'm trying to condense a huge wall of raw data into some readable form for my thesis as well as tinkering with some ideas that require a good amount of thinking and linking. Basically, I'm trying to put a civilization and society to life. In any case, the base ideas are already there, now comes the part to integrate it into the story. :3

Well, I had been doing something, in any case, and this one will serve as an intermediary chapter before we go into Chapter Six for real. Bear in mind that it is extremely metaphorical in nature, so what you understand from this need not necessarily mean the same thing literally. This is just a short piece, about 2.5k words.

Pain.

Despair.

Destruction.

The Goddess warned against these three, the manifestations of negativity borne from humanity’s inner hearts and feelings made into actions through their uncomprehending minds. The three known as the Trinity of Darkness, the seeds of death and suffering, mankind’s greatest bane of existence.

True, the Trinity was evil, rightly so being in opposition of the Goddess’s virtues, She who Preaches Courage, Hope, and Life, the Trinity of Light. The Torch was her symbol, the mark of her powers and ideals, for its spectral flames came from her eternal halo shining forth into the world, banishing the dark Trinity into their abyssal pits.

Yet, the flames had waned, its feeble light no longer bright and spectacular, mere pinpricks of pencil-thin illumination that could barely reach the length of one’s arm.

My arm.

My heart.

My mind.

There was little to reveal, for the dark Trinity had triumphed, their smothering embrace cool, seductive, powerful. The Goddess’s tears were but tiny droplets of crystals that rippled not the depthless infinity of their reign. In the very end, there was no courage to call, no hope given, and no life to be saved. The Goddess had fallen to Fate itself, a being more powerful and whimsical than She of the Divine, Her trappings and schemes pale in comparison to the one borne as Her child.

And so, She had chosen abandonment, departing from the world She had thus created, looking for another star worthy of Her attention and love.

And it was also such that the ones She denounced—the Demons, the Dark Trinity—returned to place their iron claws upon the green world of Miliene.

They who worshiped Her fell before the tide of rage and brands of fire, fell before the Dark Trinity in blood and flesh, fell before the lost hope that She would return. And those intelligent enough to survive converted to the Trinity’s cause, and there was nothing else left to oppose them. Naught could be gained for defying powers that came not from this world; only those foolish enough seek it as a means to their ends.

Forasmuch and as long as I could remember, I had always remained their favorite daughter. Cloaked in the Trinity’s finest, I was given the palace of perpetual night as my sanctuary, and there was I to live for eternity, serving them as the needs arise.

And there was I bedecked with anklets and bracelets of immense beauty—dark, smooth, and cool—such that whenever I moved as little as possible came the sweet twinkle and shimmering chime of their sounds. Yet, they were heavy, so utterly heavy that they bit into my skin, rubbed against my bones, and though I tried as mightily as I could, it bore no fruition to move them as much as a breadth of hair’s length. Upon the diamond bed I lay, the polished surface rough and jagged, but it felt like satin to me. At one time, I grazed the immaculate edge with my shoulder as I twitched, and it cut through my flesh, yet I could see not the blood that flowed forth, save for the warmth of the liquid oozing from the wound. The number of wounds increased and healed over time, repeatedly, always at different places, and I felt euphoric even as my life seeped away in tiny crimson streams.

Yet, I did not complain, for this was one of their many tests, designed to gauge my patience and acquiescence. “This is a gift,” they said, their ethereal voices melodious and sweet, “to see whether you are able to serve us well”.

I endured it through, for there was no greater purpose than serving them.

And so time marched forth, its passage unknown, uncountable to me who lived in gardens of timelessness, for only darkness marked day and night in the palace. How long it must had been, until I felt the presence of others around me. Small, furtive figures that darted around the strands of shadows and gloom, stirring the tranquil silence with obnoxious noise that jarred and disturbed my peace.

Respite did not come as easily as before, and nightmares visited me at almost every juncture of my dreams. Dreams of flowers and skies, dreams of children and family, dreams of food and delicacies; I detest these, for they were poison to my mind and their presence contaminate the austerity that I had long followed.

The taste I had once of food had vanished, the scents of flowers and open plains lost within the eternal realm I lived in. There was little to wish for, to hope for, but to serve the Trinity with my entire existence. They were everything that flowers and skies could not be, that children and family could not fill, that food and delicacies could not match. A longing I might have should these come before my servitude in the palace, but nothing compared now to the Trinity.

And so I rebuked these people, casting their wistfulness in stark contrast with reality, turning their dreams and wishes into the very illusions that they were. I delved into their hearts and wrung the phantasms of their minds with my blade of truth. I tore the hopes from their hearts and ripped their wants and desires into unrecognizable shreds even as they begged me to stop. I relished the moment, for they would now become one such as I.

And the horrors they felt reverberated as strident as a clap of thunder would, until the screams mingled with their cries, their hopelessness with their despondency. Fools, for they could comprehend nothing of the grandeur of the Trinity. Their refusal to embrace the great ones was an act of utter absurdity, one that assured their everlasting slumber in the lands of dreadful nightmares.

The Trinity smiled, and Despair became my heart.

And then there was peace again in the twilight palace. I could finally sleep again, serenity wrapping around me lovingly, the noise settling into nothing more than whispers and sighs in the timeless realm. It seemed that they were pleased, the Trinity were, for their most devour followers showered me with attention and care that I had never received before when I came into their holiest presence.

Upon me they gift the greatest honor of serving them as their handmaiden, and for my inception was I given nine radiant gems of power as the symbol of my position. And for my well-being, they ordered their most powerful warriors to become my guardians, five of them, all of whom would lay down their lives to protect me as if I were their Princess. Not even they who were closest to the Trinity had ever received these wonderful gifts before, and I was forever thankful to the great ones for their bequests.

Alas, the days for enjoyment and celebration were short. There were always those who try to disrupt the peace, and battles were inevitable. Foolish people, mindless people, all of them were thrown into the war. And I rose to defend the Trinity, destroying those who dare to desecrate their lands from within my sanctuary. Yet, these warmongers were relentless even after countless of them had perished from the onslaught of my powers, and I began to weary from my toils, the dazzle of my gems flickering weakly.

And today, they breached the palace, and my guardians and I escaped. I was painfully anguished as I left the realm, leaving behind the Trinity’s closeness and adoration. Distraught and saddened, we fled, our pursuers hounding our every step. And amongst these were powerful creatures called Ascendants, whose hands brought down heavenly spears of light and whose sweeps conjured tempestuous winds and raging flames. There was little we could do but to escape, and escape further, again and again ...

The Trinity blessed us, and we managed to evade death from the cruel attacks of the maddened pursuers. And then we sighted upon one of the magnificent birds of steel and light, from which came a rain of silvery light, and the frontlines of the pursuers vanished in a thick pall of smoke and exploding debris. They stopped, apparently afraid to approach further.

Several men approached us, and after a brief exchange, the guardians allowed them to attend to me. These were strange men, garbed in strange clothes, and possessed peculiar items that were alien to me. And upon their signal, the enormous bird descended, very slowly, and as it approached ground, one of its sides opened up, revealing a staircase made of steel.

One of the men brought me up the metallic stairs, and then the rest of the men came up. Then, it was my guardians’ turn, the five whom had protected me with their lives. I had no idea what was going on, but I had assumed that they knew what they were doing, and that they were doing it to ensure my safety.

For that, I was grateful, verily.

Yet, they never appeared in my life ever again.

At that very moment, the pursuers resumed their attack, and from their ranks came a mass of writhing tentacles that sped forward like a nest of hungry serpents.

Warm, crimson liquid splashed upon my pale face, one that was so similar to feeling I had when I grazed the edge of the bed.

Blood.

And the barbed ends of those monstrous things protruded out from the wounds on the guardians’ bodies, blood dripping from the deadly spines even as life slowly seeped away from them.

“NO!” I could hear myself shout, the first thing that I had ever uttered for such a long time, and my voice was hoarse, shrill, broken by years of disuse.

Casting a fleeting glance at me, their eyes sad but proud at the same time, they turned around and ripped the bloodied tentacles out of them. I could hear flesh tear and organs rend, the horrible, deathly sound of broken ribs, yet they seemed not to feel it at all. Their backs were turned to me, their bodies bathed in crimson, cloak of blood encircling their final moments.

With a great warcry, they retaliated, and the fury of their attack vibrated within me even as the staircase began to fold upon itself, sealing the entrance. Slowly, too, it was rising into the air again, retreating from the massive army gathered at the distance. I struggled forward, but several hands gripped me, the steel of their hands like an unbreakable manacle around my limbs.

The last thing I saw was a violent brilliance of five-hued colors, the deep chorus of Death’s veritable harvest from the far side, and then ... silence.

Great, utter, absolute silence.

I did not know how long I had remained upon the cool steel floor of the bird’s interior; it had felt long enough to last an eternity, or even more, and I had wanted it to remain so.

I had lost everything.

My sanctuary.

My guardians.

My Trinity.

I tried to weep, but no tears came out. I tried to speak, but my voice had abandoned me. I tried to move, yet the lethargy overwhelmed my mind’s commands. And so I sat there, unmoving, inert, lost in a world of limbo where there was no time and space, no light and darkness. All there was in the empty world was void, great, endless horizon of blankness and non-creation.

Someone approached, the heavy footsteps producing a rhythmic thump on the steel flooring, gradually growing louder as the person neared. I did not notice when the others had moved away; I had no need to, nor did I have to care. I did not know any of them, save for the fact that I was given to their protection by the guardians.

Is it their last will? That I remain with these strange, unnamed people, total foreigners and absolute strangers? How am I to survive and live, when I do not even know the purpose of the entire exchange? How did it all begin in the first place, the war and everything that is? I am so confused ...

“Young lady,” a soft, masculine voice spoke.

I neither answered nor looked up to address him.

He moved around to my front, and then knelt down. A callous but warm hand touched my chin, and slowly, gently, he brought my face up so that he may better look at me, or perhaps it was so that I could better see him.

“There is time to grief, young lady,” he said softly as his emerald eyes gazed deep into mine. There was sympathy, even sadness in his eyes, and his voice was tinged with sorrow. “Cry if you must, for in doing so, you may assuage some of the anguish trapped within your heart. But, remember, you must remain strong for those that have sacrificed for you.”

Sacrifice? What does he know about sacrifice, when it was not his people who perished? Were the guardians his closest comrades? No, they were mine!

“A lot has happened, and perhaps I should apologize for being late in interfering. As much as could be done, planetary interference was not possible under previous circumstances, and for that, much had suffered,” he spoke again.

What are you talking about? I have no idea what you have to do, but you understand nothing of the suffering that I am going through now!

“Death and war go hand-in-hand, the twin borne out of destructive intent and desirous hearts. We already did what we could, but nothing else could be salvaged.” He stopped for a moment before saying, “I’m sorry.”

I looked down, tired, exhausted, and he kindly let go of his supporting hand. Death? War? There is nothing to be sorry of, for nothing could return to the state it used to be. Things have changed since today, things that sicken and disgust me. How I wish that those brainless people disappear entirely from my life, for I loathe and hate them with every fiber of my being. Anything, I would gladly do anything for that moment to come to fruition now ...

The man spoke no more, and his eyes lingered several moments more even when he could not discern my expression. Then, he made a move to rise up, but I immediately gripped his hand. Mildly surprised, he stopped, but remained as he was there, his eyes again searching, waiting for me to speak something.

True, the Trinity was evil, rightly so being in opposition of the Goddess’s virtues, She who Preaches Courage, Hope, and Life, the Trinity of Light. The Torch was her symbol, the mark of her powers and ideals, for its spectral flames came from her eternal halo shining forth into the world, banishing the dark Trinity into their abyssal pits.

Yet, the flames had waned, its feeble light no longer bright and spectacular, mere pinpricks of pencil-thin illumination that could barely reach the length of one’s arm.

My arm.

My heart.

My mind.

There was little to reveal, for the dark Trinity had triumphed, their smothering embrace cool, seductive, powerful. The Goddess’s tears were but tiny droplets of crystals that rippled not the depthless infinity of their reign. In the very end, there was no courage to call, no hope given, and no life to be saved. The Goddess had fallen to Fate itself, a being more powerful and whimsical than She of the Divine, Her trappings and schemes pale in comparison to the one borne as Her child.

And so, She had chosen abandonment, departing from the world She had thus created, looking for another star worthy of Her attention and love.

And it was also such that the ones She denounced—the Demons, the Dark Trinity—returned to place their iron claws upon the green world of Miliene.

They who worshiped Her fell before the tide of rage and brands of fire, fell before the Dark Trinity in blood and flesh, fell before the lost hope that She would return. Well, Mithril and Delta share some similarities. Mithril appears to be based off the SAS model: PRT has six units, each one specializing in a particular type of warfare: air assault, amphibious warfare, espionage, assault, communications, and building breaching and assault. Soldiers rotate within the six teams to learn the methods and skills of each team. SAS does something similar: there's a base set of skills and each man specialises in one, while being proficient in the others. Delta's specialty is air assault, breaching, and assault, it would seem. Gray Fox/Centra Spike/Torn Victor/Deep Throat/god knows what else focuses on communications.

The Scrin? The Magog? The Abyss? The Jam? The Aliens from AVP (and just about every movie of the "Alien" franchise)? And Especially, THE ANTISPIRALS?!!

30 minutes later, Yuuno and ten other men were seated in a briefing room, rising as one when their officer entered. His once-black hair was graying rapidly, but he moved with supressed dangerousness in his step, and his eyes shone with purpose, determination, cold fury and pissed offness, behind the clear-lensed glasses he wore.

Some old hands in this platoon spoke of when the LT was once a more cheerful happy go lucky guy, more flamboyant. Tonight, none of that flamboyance was present.

Yuuno wasn't as close to Franz Jaeger as Nanoha was, so his impressions of Jaeger were of a man who was controlled tension, firmness, and quiet professionalism and competance. He found it hard to believe the stories that ten years ago, Lieutenant Jaeger would be running around yelling ridiculously about the true spirit of men...

"As you were, Alpha Platoon," said Franz, Alpha Platoon leader and Assault Company Commander. "We're deploying tonight on an emergency mission. Terrorists with Jewel Seed weapons are planning to fuck up Valentine's night for millions of loving couples. We're going to fuck up theirs." His smile was positively vicious, as were the smiles of most of Alpha Platoon.

"Delta Platoon under 2nd Lt. Kozlov will be taking this batch, Objective Mikuru. We'll take Objective Tsuruya. Bravo will be taking care of Objective Haruhi by themselves."

All of Alpha grinned viciously. Chrono/Acous interaction was nice to read, and well done too. Hayate trying to manipulate Vivio to embarras Nanoha and Yuuno was Aurion/Tesla interactions were brilliant! I may be biased, but I loved that part the most, especially when Tesla went analysis mode, I could just hear her talking with Yukana's C.C. voice. And then Hayate came by (causing a brilliant reaction with Aurion ) with a nice touchy moment.

Thanks a lot! I actually rewatched Code Geass for a better feel on Yukana's C.C. voice. It was for getting out a better portrayal of Tesla's analysis mode. And what can I say, the pick of voice fits perfectly!

I don't think Keroko is possible. After the Jail incident, Keroko is under medical orders not to use any magic whatsoever for at least three months (Phanan threatened to seal them up if she even so much as levitated ). In fact, she is too physically injured to do much anyway, and is in a lot of pain if she moves too much. After being cleared, she still has to take it easy for several months. She's fit enough to return to normal duty by the time of the 'final mock battle' at the end of StrikerS (which, mind you, is a good seven months after the battle with Jail).

I'm still tubbing over what kind of permanent damage she would get from this... But it's going to be something on the same level as Nanoha's, so if you're concerned about her injuries, then Keroko is out of the question too.

OUCH! I guess it's Fate, then...

On the subject of Artherion, I recently retconned a little tidbit about his past. Formerly he was a device created by Yuuno. I thnk we've established by now that there is no way to create an intelligent device out of scratch in seconds without propper resources, so I used the theory that was once mentioned as the reason Yuuno had Raising Heart. Basically, Artherion is an old Device excavated by Yuuno's tribe.

Thakns! Interactions are my forte, it seems. And I'm much more at home in characterizing Tesla compared to Keroko. Her C.C.-esque sides that are very direct are a joy to write out.

I feel you Aaron. As I've always said, the people who wrote StrikerS really should be shot in the head, with a gun powerful enough to blow their stupid brains away. Nothing wrong with the interactions IMO.

Spoiler for A Few Quick Notes For You Re: the 82nd:

As I've stated before, the 82nd is absent for the entire story...too busy doing their own job. However, if you want to give them a cameo, I won't say no to it.

Here's what they're doing for the course of the story:

They're busy on an unspecified Non-Administered World, providing security for the renegotiation of a Free Trade Agreement, set up years ago.

You can call at any time, but the time I have in my head is somewhere between 2/3 and 3/4 story completion, and Hayate is NOT a prisoner.

The way it plays out in my head is that either Hayate, Dauer, or Nanoha places the call.

Potentially anyone could pick up, but the order of probability is, going from GREATEST to LEAST, is:

Arcas>Sevasti>Mel>Boomer.

Of course, you COULD have them in session, in which case Himeya (the Delphinus AI) would answer and take the call, if you want to give him screentime.

Whoever picks up, most of the call plays out the same:

The caller gives whichever Phantasm the current sitrep, who responds that if needed, they can send help in the form of the Delphinus, with Arcas and Mel onboard. This is possible because the 82nd are just security, and the renegotiation is nearly completed ANYWAY. So, if they're in trouble, they just need to send a message saying:

"Gondor calls for aid..."

and the 82nd will reply:

"...and Rohan will answer."

From here on, the call differs depending on who picks up:

Sevasti OR Boomer OR Himeya: The Phantasm makes the caller repeat the message, then hangs up.

Arcas OR Mel: They do the message repeat thing, then tells the caller -

"Listen, if you're in over your head, DO NOT SCREW AROUND. You CALL, understand?"

The Phantasm does this 2 or 3 times, then hangs up.

I'll see what I can do. But for now, I intend to use more real-type action here. So as it is, inserting more CC's and the OFM are easier.

Basically, I'm trying to put a civilization and society to life. In any case, the base ideas are already there, now comes the part to integrate it into the story. :3

Well, I had been doing something, in any case, and this one will serve as an intermediary chapter before we go into Chapter Six for real. Bear in mind that it is extremely metaphorical in nature, so what you understand from this need not necessarily mean the same thing literally. This is just a short piece, about 2.5k words.

Pain.

Destruction.

The Goddess warned against these three, the manifestations of negativity borne from humanity’s inner hearts and feelings made into actions through their uncomprehending minds. The three known as the Trinity of Darkness, the seeds of death and suffering, mankind’s greatest bane of existence.

True, the Trinity was evil, rightly so being in opposition of the Goddess’s virtues, She who Preaches Courage, Hope, and Life, the Trinity of Light. The Torch was her symbol, the mark of her powers and ideals, for its spectral flames came from her eternal halo shining forth into the world, banishing the dark Trinity into their abyssal pits.

Yet, the flames had waned, its feeble light no longer bright and spectacular, mere pinpricks of pencil-thin illumination that could barely reach the length of one’s arm.

My arm.

My heart.

My mind.

There was little to reveal, for the dark Trinity had triumphed, their smothering embrace cool, seductive, powerful. The Goddess’s tears were but tiny droplets of crystals that rippled not the depthless infinity of their reign. In the very end, there was no courage to call, no hope given, and no life to be saved. The Goddess had fallen to Fate itself, a being more powerful and whimsical than She of the Divine, Her trappings and schemes pale in comparison to the one borne as Her child.

And so, She had chosen abandonment, departing from the world She had thus created, looking for another star worthy of Her attention and love.

And it was also such that the ones She denounced—the Demons, the Dark Trinity—returned to place their iron claws upon the green world of Miliene.

They who worshiped Her fell before the tide of rage and brands of fire, fell before the Dark Trinity in blood and flesh, fell before the lost hope that She would return. And those intelligent enough to survive converted to the Trinity’s cause, and there was nothing else left to oppose them. Naught could be gained for defying powers that came not from this world; only those foolish enough seek it as a means to their ends.

I am one of the Trinity’s daughters.

Forasmuch and as long as I could remember, I had always remained their favorite daughter. Cloaked in the Trinity’s finest, I was given the palace of perpetual night as my sanctuary, and there was I to live for eternity, serving them as the needs arise.

Yet, they were heavy, so utterly heavy that they bit into my skin, rubbed against my bones, and though I tried as mightily as I could, it bore no fruition to move them as much as a breadth of hair’s length. Upon the diamond bed I lay, the polished surface rough and jagged, but it felt like satin to me. At one time, I grazed the immaculate edge with my shoulder as I twitched, and it cut through my flesh, yet I could see not the blood that flowed forth, save for the warmth of the liquid oozing from the wound. The number of wounds increased and healed over time, repeatedly, always at different places, and I felt euphoric even as my life seeped away in tiny crimson streams.

Yet, I did not complain, for this was one of their many tests, designed to gauge my patience and acquiescence. “This is a gift,” they said, their ethereal voices melodious and sweet, “to see whether you are able to serve us well”.

I endured it through, for there was no greater purpose than serving them.

The Trinity smiled, and Pain became my body.

And so time marched forth, its passage unknown, uncountable to me who lived in gardens of timelessness, for only darkness marked day and night in the palace. How long it must had been, until I felt the presence of others around me. Small, furtive figures that darted around the strands of shadows and gloom, stirring the tranquil silence with obnoxious noise that jarred and disturbed my peace.

Respite did not come as easily as before, and nightmares visited me at almost every juncture of my dreams. Dreams of flowers and skies, dreams of children and family, dreams of food and delicacies; I detest these, for they were poison to my mind and their presence contaminate the austerity that I had long followed.

The taste I had once of food had vanished, the scents of flowers and open plains lost within the eternal realm I lived in. There was little to wish for, to hope for, but to serve the Trinity with my entire existence. They were everything that flowers and skies could not be, that children and family could not fill, that food and delicacies could not match. A longing I might have should these come before my servitude in the palace, but nothing compared now to the Trinity.

And so I rebuked these people, casting their wistfulness in stark contrast with reality, turning their dreams and wishes into the very illusions that they were. I delved into their hearts and wrung the phantasms of their minds with my blade of truth. I tore the hopes from their hearts and ripped their wants and desires into unrecognizable shreds even as they begged me to stop. I relished the moment, for they would now become one such as I.

And the horrors they felt reverberated as strident as a clap of thunder would, until the screams mingled with their cries, their hopelessness with their despondency. Fools, for they could comprehend nothing of the grandeur of the Trinity. Their refusal to embrace the great ones was an act of utter absurdity, one that assured their everlasting slumber in the lands of dreadful nightmares.

The Trinity smiled, and Despair became my heart.

And then there was peace again in the twilight palace. I could finally sleep again, serenity wrapping around me lovingly, the noise settling into nothing more than whispers and sighs in the timeless realm. It seemed that they were pleased, the Trinity were, for their most devour followers showered me with attention and care that I had never received before when I came into their holiest presence.

Upon me they gift the greatest honor of serving them as their handmaiden, and for my inception was I given nine radiant gems of power as the symbol of my position. And for my well-being, they ordered their most powerful warriors to become my guardians, five of them, all of whom would lay down their lives to protect me as if I were their Princess. Not even they who were closest to the Trinity had ever received these wonderful gifts before, and I was forever thankful to the great ones for their bequests.

Alas, the days for enjoyment and celebration were short. There were always those who try to disrupt the peace, and battles were inevitable. Foolish people, mindless people, all of them were thrown into the war. And I rose to defend the Trinity, destroying those who dare to desecrate their lands from within my sanctuary. Yet, these warmongers were relentless even after countless of them had perished from the onslaught of my powers, and I began to weary from my toils, the dazzle of my gems flickering weakly.

And today, they breached the palace, and my guardians and I escaped. I was painfully anguished as I left the realm, leaving behind the Trinity’s closeness and adoration. Distraught and saddened, we fled, our pursuers hounding our every step. And amongst these were powerful creatures called Ascendants, whose hands brought down heavenly spears of light and whose sweeps conjured tempestuous winds and raging flames. There was little we could do but to escape, and escape further, again and again ...

The Trinity blessed us, and we managed to evade death from the cruel attacks of the maddened pursuers. And then we sighted upon one of the magnificent birds of steel and light, from which came a rain of silvery light, and the frontlines of the pursuers vanished in a thick pall of smoke and exploding debris. They stopped, apparently afraid to approach further.

Several men approached us, and after a brief exchange, the guardians allowed them to attend to me. These were strange men, garbed in strange clothes, and possessed peculiar items that were alien to me. And upon their signal, the enormous bird descended, very slowly, and as it approached ground, one of its sides opened up, revealing a staircase made of steel.

One of the men brought me up the metallic stairs, and then the rest of the men came up. Then, it was my guardians’ turn, the five whom had protected me with their lives. I had no idea what was going on, but I had assumed that they knew what they were doing, and that they were doing it to ensure my safety.

For that, I was grateful, verily.

Yet, they never appeared in my life ever again.

At that very moment, the pursuers resumed their attack, and from their ranks came a mass of writhing tentacles that sped forward like a nest of hungry serpents.

Warm, crimson liquid splashed upon my pale face, one that was so similar to feeling I had when I grazed the edge of the bed.

Blood.

And the barbed ends of those monstrous things protruded out from the wounds on the guardians’ bodies, blood dripping from the deadly spines even as life slowly seeped away from them.

“NO!” I could hear myself shout, the first thing that I had ever uttered for such a long time, and my voice was hoarse, shrill, broken by years of disuse.

Casting a fleeting glance at me, their eyes sad but proud at the same time, they turned around and ripped the bloodied tentacles out of them. I could hear flesh tear and organs rend, the horrible, deathly sound of broken ribs, yet they seemed not to feel it at all. Their backs were turned to me, their bodies bathed in crimson, cloak of blood encircling their final moments.

With a great warcry, they retaliated, and the fury of their attack vibrated within me even as the staircase began to fold upon itself, sealing the entrance. Slowly, too, it was rising into the air again, retreating from the massive army gathered at the distance. I struggled forward, but several hands gripped me, the steel of their hands like an unbreakable manacle around my limbs.

The last thing I saw was a violent brilliance of five-hued colors, the deep chorus of Death’s veritable harvest from the far side, and then ... silence.

Great, utter, absolute silence.

I did not know how long I had remained upon the cool steel floor of the bird’s interior; it had felt long enough to last an eternity, or even more, and I had wanted it to remain so.

I had lost everything.

My sanctuary.

My guardians.

My Trinity.

I tried to weep, but no tears came out. I tried to speak, but my voice had abandoned me. I tried to move, yet the lethargy overwhelmed my mind’s commands. And so I sat there, unmoving, inert, lost in a world of limbo where there was no time and space, no light and darkness. All there was in the empty world was void, great, endless horizon of blankness and non-creation.

Someone approached, the heavy footsteps producing a rhythmic thump on the steel flooring, gradually growing louder as the person neared. I did not notice when the others had moved away; I had no need to, nor did I have to care. I did not know any of them, save for the fact that I was given to their protection by the guardians.

Is it their last will? That I remain with these strange, unnamed people, total foreigners and absolute strangers? How am I to survive and live, when I do not even know the purpose of the entire exchange? How did it all begin in the first place, the war and everything that is? I am so confused ...

“Young lady,” a soft, masculine voice spoke.

I neither answered nor looked up to address him.

He moved around to my front, and then knelt down. A callous but warm hand touched my chin, and slowly, gently, he brought my face up so that he may better look at me, or perhaps it was so that I could better see him.

“There is time to grief, young lady,” he said softly as his emerald eyes gazed deep into mine. There was sympathy, even sadness in his eyes, and his voice was tinged with sorrow. “Cry if you must, for in doing so, you may assuage some of the anguish trapped within your heart. But, remember, you must remain strong for those that have sacrificed for you.”

Sacrifice? What does he know about sacrifice, when it was not his people who perished? Were the guardians his closest comrades? No, they were mine!

“A lot has happened, and perhaps I should apologize for being late in interfering. As much as could be done, planetary interference was not possible under previous circumstances, and for that, much had suffered,” he spoke again.

What are you talking about? I have no idea what you have to do, but you understand nothing of the suffering that I am going through now!

“Death and war go hand-in-hand, the twin borne out of destructive intent and desirous hearts. We already did what we could, but nothing else could be salvaged.” He stopped for a moment before saying, “I’m sorry.”

I looked down, tired, exhausted, and he kindly let go of his supporting hand. Death? War? There is nothing to be sorry of, for nothing could return to the state it used to be. Things have changed since today, things that sicken and disgust me. How I wish that those brainless people disappear entirely from my life, for I loathe and hate them with every fiber of my being. Anything, I would gladly do anything for that moment to come to fruition now ...

A flicker.

The man spoke no more, and his eyes lingered several moments more even when he could not discern my expression. Then, he made a move to rise up, but I immediately gripped his hand. Mildly surprised, he stopped, but remained as he was there, his eyes again searching, waiting for me to speak something.

Perhaps, there is still chance ...

“I guess it could not be helped...” I began slowly. I did not know if he understood me at all, but he made no indication otherwise.

Perhaps, all is not lost ...

“... There have been so many senseless deaths in the War; deaths spurned by the desire of some men. The Miliene that once was is no more: it is now mockery of its previous grandeur, a broken mirror of its past splendor ...”

Perhaps, there is still a way to grant my one wish ...

“... If there is a better fate for the others that cannot be saved today, that will be for them to ...”

I smiled, and Destruction became my mind.

I had become the Trinity.

I truly envy your way with words! This is simply superb!

At first, one might think that the character here is Leona. But I have a gut feeling that she's a different person. She's the Princess, that much is seemingly certain.
