Shoooot.
My Suspension of Disbelief is kicking and screaming. ALL THIS TIME AND YOU DIDN'T TELL HIM!!!!! Not the love I would expect from a "Shrine Maiden". This could be the way to avoid a harem ending. Heck, If I was Nagi, I'd be packin' to the docks. Any thoughts on how this could POSSIBLY end well? (Except for some kind of Prior "death" falling from the cape?) 8. Nagi is taken to the festival by Shizuku, she tries to have a double suicide so they can be together forever. Karin gets in the way, the two girls struggle and Nagi ends up falling alone after trying to break them up. Seeing Nagi die alone makes Shizuku snap and she starts killing people until Soyogi stops her. The teacher shows up with the police after finding out about the festival's true purpose. End result: - Nagi dead; - Karin killed by Shizuku; - Soyogi scarred for life, ends up being a lesbian with the annoying chick; - Rinne psychologically broken; - Grandma and elders arrested; - Teacher regrets not having stopped it all sooner; - Nagi's dad finally shows up only to find out what happened to his son. |

The worst problem with writing a fanfic that you are so proud of is not that the mangaka might have a different vision of the story. It is that you are at the mercy of the author who might neglect some pertinent plot point you consider important. As a case in point, a sacrifice is only legitimate as long as it is willing. Anything but self-sacrifice would badly damage the story. No, actually the worst part is waiting six weeks to find which direction this story is taking. |

Come on, you can do better than that.
"and this angered the god of the sea (ch. 51 p. 17) And the ocean rose up to the shores, and started to claim the lands population" So Nagi's anger at the natives' fear creates a Tsunami, and only the lovin'* of the maidens can "cool his anger"(* Means SACRIFICE). "And The maidens DIED in the sea and became Okuhime." So where's the happy in that ending? What part of end well did you miss? I missed ALL of it. (Except the part where Obaa strokes out because of Rinne. Still chucklin about that.) |

Lighten up!
Dang!
Did i grim everybody out? I sure don't mean to- but does anybody else think the near-death fall at the beginning of the series might be an "out" for the mutual suicide that Karin is talking about? Chapter 104 " return the body to the sea- Must return to the sea with the dragon god" Also, there's the narrative on the front page of the first chapter, that implies the whole reincarnation point of view. And Starshipw, I agree completely, "The waiting is the hardest part". (ah oops- that's Tom Petty.) Last edited by crossguy; 2012-09-16 at 00:27. Reason: too much thinkin' |

Yeah... I'm not liking these two chapters. I am glad the killing thing is just the girl's interpretation from when they were young, but I was hoping they wouldn't find out until the end or that they all knew exactly that all along.

Ever since Okuhime I have been certain that sacrifice would be part of the climax to the story, but the mangaka seems to be putting the possibility in the worst possible light by Karin blurting it out with no possibility for explanation. In other manga this would lead to misunderstandings, conflict and pointless drama. I was hoping for better from this one because it has been nearly perfectly calibrated so far. I think a more subtle approach of broad non-specific hints and maidens with looks of concern and teary eyes as the festival approached would have been better writing.
Let us face one fact though. For all of his admirable traits as a leading man and a good person in general, Nagi has one shortcoming. (Sorry, shortcoming is an inappropriate description for Dragon God, but I digress.) He has been extremely disinterested in what duties being Dragon God might entail beyond granting favor. While most students his age would be filling out career questionnaires and studying for entrance exams while he is only concerned with sleepover schedules. Just a little bit of inquisitiveness could save him a long drop into cold water some night. |

Yeah, there's still a big hole in the backstory. Both Karin and Rinne have set us up for troubles,
BUT- Shizuku's "hidden knowledge" puts the possibility of a major spin in place. She knew about the hidden cave, is there something the other maidens know that they haven't shared? For "sisters" there's a lot o' drama wot can happen. |

Karin confesses the festivals hidden meaning (double suicide) and he will be forced to choose Nagi realizes there is only one thing he can do during the festival he is ask whom he chooses he steps up and slits his throat, saving the women he loves this is once again just a random thought, please dont bring on lots of hate |
