Given all the differences the Exia has with the 00 Qan[T], it's more likely that they based it off the MG 00-Raiser that Bandai themselves have mentioned to have been in development earlier. Given that the 00 Qan[T] and 00 Raiser have a lot more similarities than the 00 Qan[T] has with the Exia, I'm more of the opinion that they simply switched development to the 00 Qan[T] because of its shared from with the 00 Raiser, which means they could release it fast, rather than the Exia.

Judging by the HG kits, Exia is hardly even related to the 00/00Q, while the other two have some substantial commonality or at least parts compatibility. 00Q uses the same legs and arms as the 00 more or less, with only some minor exterior differences. You'd have to look hard to spot the difference if you swapped the arms and legs between the two...
In contrast, about the only things you could swap between the Exia and 00 are the hands, feet and head, since those use the same type of joints in the same place. How well this translates into MG-scale remains to be seen, but I'm not confident that there'll be much resemblance between the two internally... SP |

What I will not discount is the thought that the MG OOQ will be the link between the MG Exia and the MG OO-R. The OOQ Shield will act as an experimentation for support of the Raiser Wings upon the Shoulder and the strengthen arms for the extended Raiser Sword. |

If Bandai was remotely interested in releasing addition content for these kits, the PG 00 Gundam might of gotten the Seven Sword equipment by now. |
