Chapter 8: Mother

Landscaper!Fate

“Mother”

“It’s too hot…” The new guy crashed with Chrono and Fate after he finished his workload. The woman didn’t bat an eye at her coworker for making the obvious statement. Today’s job at the Takamachi property had become a real pain in the ass with the high humidity and heat. The only thing the woman had on her mind was a cool glass of water, one being held by Princess that she would happily drink from. ‘If only... she could come out here with a bikini on, sit in my lap, and have me a sip that refreshing cup while looking at me with those blue eyes.’

Fate ended up getting a small portion of her wish. Nanoha came out of the house with three large glasses of water and made her way over to the group. “I thought you might be thirsty so I got you some water.” She handed each worker a glass while exchanging smiles with them. “Your work on the grounds is spectacular. This is my way of saying thank you.”

“Why thank you Ma’am for your consideration.” Chrono replied, “We will not loiter here for much longer, just long enough to rest so we can make a safe drive to our next location.”

The blond stared down as she drank from her glass ‘Doesn’t she have someone else that could give us water? Kind of strange for the lady of the house to be serving the hired help water…Since she knows me a little I can see her coming up to me alone but with people she doesn’t know…’ She looked back up at blue eyes. ‘Of course this gives her a chance to see new people. The girl is getting a little braver…’

“Since you have been working here for a while, could I ask what your names are?”

“Certainly Ma’am, I am Chrono Harloawn, Fate you already know and the other man is Kaden Esen.”

“Pleased to meet you, I am Nanoha Takamachi.”

“And we are the Some siblings,” the blond chimed in.

“Some?”

“Yes Princess,” she pointed at Kaden “we have Wanting Some”, She pointed at herself, “Needing Some”, She pointed at Chrono “and Getting Some.” Chrono got a snicker out of Fate’s lack of manners in front of Nanoha. Kaden on the other hand was slightly embarrassed by being caught about his wants, but after a short time he recovered enough to shoot a joke at his male boss.

“You may be Getting Some but do you know which hole to put it in?” He was quite proud he thought of that. Fate gave a long stare at the man who had been questioned.

“At least we know you found it once.” The blond poked at a sore spot.

“Yeah that is true. I guess I should know which one is which so I don’t screw up again.”

“Seriously, put a God damn helmet on your soldier or tell Amy to go on the pill.”

Chrono looked up to sky “Why me?”

Fate took a glance to see that Nanoha, though a little timid about the conversation they just had, was still standing there looking like she had something to say. “Well, is there anything else you want to know?”

“Well… actually.” Her eyes looked around a little before she continued, “I wanted to talk to you about the next time I want to…” She seemed unsure if what she wanted to say was ok in front of the guys. “I was hoping to go out of the house soon and I wanted to talk to you about it.”

“Oh” the blond’s interest from her coworker’s sex life to her potential one, “What do you have in mind?”

“I can’t believe that girl has that much balls.” Fate leaned back in the truck seat, “I mean to tell her parents that she is going some where so she can be picked up by a friend later, telling said friend that she will come over on her own at a later time and then turn around and come over to my place, were the hell did she get that idea?”

Chrono smirked while making a turn, “Maybe she read it in a book?”

“A book? What the hell is a book?”

“You know, it’s those things with the pages and the words all put together.”

“Oh! I got a few of those.”

“I was taking about the kinds that have most of its pages filled with words, not pictures of naked women.”

“Don’t knock what I read”

Chrono burst out laughing. “Read? Bullshit Fate, the only thing you do with those books is remind yourself what other women look like while your having dry spell. Probably even during ones that are only one day long.”

Kaden just looked at the two from his seat in the middle before pointing at a building, “There’s the library and that woman too.”

“There it is indeed.” The driver pulled into a spot to let Fate out “You should check out more than just Nanoha while we are here, get your self a book and read for once.”

The blond climbed out of the truck laughing, “I’ll check out something all right… How about a book about a heroine saving a princess for the clutches of evil, taking her on a journey of not only the world but,” and she said with a grin “of other things as well.”

Not waiting for a reply she went off to the direction in which Nanoha was standing. She noticed that the other was wearing jeans and a nice looking shirt. Princess was leaning against the wall and her long, straight hair flowed slightly in the wind. Fate let out a low whistle at the beautiful sight. While she thought that the other was a knock out alone in just a dress she knew that such pretty things would attract creeps that would hit on her. Nanoha had by this point started to walk towards her with a small polite smile.

“Good afternoon Fate, and thank you for picking me up.” the girl stopped a few feet away from her.

Putting on her best charm the landscaper replied, “Can’t let a pretty thing like you go walking alone. Hate to see the trash of this town flocking towards you.” With this she gently took a hold of Princess’ hand to lead her back to the truck. Once there she had to help the elegant lady up into the seat, getting a good view of her rear in the process. “Damn, that’s a nice as you got there.”

The other girl yelped, looking back with a dark red face, “Don’t… say things like that…”

‘You should be proud of a rear like that’ Fate hopped up slightly into the truck before realizing the seating situation. “Looks like it’s a little tight in here… Princess, I think your going to have to sit on my lap.”

“Eh?”

Chrono decided to help her out with the legitimacy of the situation. “Sorry about this, but I got to be able to shift gears.” For proof he grabbed a hold of the stick, wiggling it to show that it didn’t have enough room to move. Reluctantly Nanoha raised herself up so that Fate could slide herself underneath the other.

“Is this ok?” The brunette asked shyly looking back at Fate.

“Ohhh it could be much better if I had a double ended dil…”

“Fate...” Chrono kept the other in line.

She just smiled playfully back at him before turning her attention back at the girl on her lap. ‘She smells really good…’ She shifted her hands between the other’s waist and lap ‘I wonder how soft her skin feels.’ She looked up at the back of the other’s head and noticed an ear ‘What I would give to nibble on that.’ Snapping out of her trance she looked over at Kaden who seemed to be enjoying seeing two girls on top of each other. “Mine” She watched at the boy fidgeted and looked forwarded. “And I’m not going to give you a show.”

The rest of the trip consisted with the normal shooting of the bull. They were bitching about work, about the world, about Chrono starting to become whipped. The whole time though, Nanoha had not said a word and Fate wasn’t sure if the girl didn’t know what to say or how to say something amongst their jokes.

Soon they came to a stop outside of Fate’s apartment prompting Princess to try to get out of the tall truck. She did ok, until she lost balance and started to fall face first into the sidewalk. Deftly the blond reached out and got a grab of her before she met the concrete. Fate quickly put the girl back on a solid footing and removed where her hands were. Nanoha turned her head around and looked up at the other, waiting for an explanation. “Are you ok Princess?”

The shorter one nodded.

“Good, I would hate to see a fragile girl like you break”

Nanoha puffed out her cheeks, “I’m not fragile.”

‘Oh yes you are.’ Fate dropped the subject and walked into the apartment building. ‘At least now I know that she doesn’t stuff her bras.’ Once in the apartment she led her guest into the bedroom so she could put her suitcase in there.

“I brought some things with me today to clean up.” The girl unzipped her suitcase and pulled out some cleaning supplies. “I thought cleaning would be the least I could do to say thank you for going out of your way for me.”

This got Fate to grin, “Well if you really want to thank me, you could do it topless.”

“I… I… I can’t do something like that.”

The blond watched as the other one blushed. She was going to make her way to her dresser but the other decided to speak up again.

“M-Maybe I could do it… l-later…”

Fate looked at her friend with concerned eyes “You don’t have to do something like that if you truly don’t want to. Besides, not every thing I say is dead serious.” A pause grew between the two as the words sunk into Princess.

“Um… You probably want to take a shower now, so I’ll just clean up in here… Is there anywhere you don’t want me to clean?”

“Ok, clean where ever you want” the blond went over and pulled some things out of her dresser, “Just don’t be surprised if you find something strange.”

“Something strange?”

Fate made her way to the bathroom and looked back from the door, “Don’t worry about it…” With a wink and a grin she disappeared in to the bathroom and started to strip her sweaty, grass incrusted clothes, starting up the shower in the process. The first drops of water against her skin felt like a layer of grime was being peeled off of her skin. She stood there a few moments before getting to work lathering up her long hair with shampoo. ‘Here I am in the shower and my guest in all alone in my bedroom. That doesn’t sound like me.’ She rinsed her hair carefully, insuring that every drop of soap was out of it before moving on to the body wash. ‘She should be in here with me, lathering each others bodies, rinsing off, rubbing sore muscles.” Fate ran her bath lily across her chest, getting involved in her thoughts. ‘Oh if only I could hold that girl in my arms while she was wet and naked. I bet those blue eyes look wonderful while she is in the moment…’ After rinsing the soap off of her she crossed her arms, slowly rubbing them with her hands. Leaning back on the wall of the shower she let the water just run on her once more. ‘But she doesn’t think of me in that way. Hell I don’t even know if that girl knows what a sexual fantasy is…I have wanted her since I saw her in that window, but now... I can’t just take her.’ She snapped out of her thoughts as she started to unconsciously place a hand slightly south of her belly. ‘I can’t do that. There’s not enough time to do a proper job.’ Slowly she turned off the water and grabbed the towel hanging on a bar. ‘I could always tease her a little though.’ With that she walked out of the bathroom with just the towel on, no drying involved. She must have caught the other girl staring off into space as she seamed to be frozen from hearing the door open. While she could not make out if the girl had seen anything personal of hers, she did catch that the girl had her hands near the hem of her shirt. ‘She doesn’t need to do that to keep my attention.’ As the other turned around she cleared her thoughts. “Hungry?”

Nanoha looked down a little with her bright red face. “A little…”

Fate made her way out of the room with a little hip movement and a smile “I’ll go make us something then.”

Fate watched as the girl took to cleaning her apartment again after their little dinner. While the dinner itself was uneventful, the moment before when she walked into her bedroom with nothing but a towel on was amusing. Even if she wanted to, Fate couldn’t go around the rest of the day with nothing on so she put on some gym shorts and a tank top. Her mind wondered from the recent past to the present. She started to feel bad that Princess was spending all her time away from home cleaning. If it made the girl happy it might be ok with her, but it still seemed a little sad.

“You know I was thinking,” the blond pondered aloud, “you said that you have maids at your house correct?”

The brunette stopped her activates and turned towards the woman sitting on the couch. “Yes, we have some personal maids that work for us.”

“Do they wear uniforms?” A smile played on her lips.

“Yes…” Princess wasn’t sure where this was going.

“Next time you should borrow one. If I can’t get you to clean topless I’d at least like to see you dusting in a maid outfit. Grant it, uniforms are not my kind of fetish but seeing you in a change of clothes would be a turn on.”

“Fate, that’s kind of… weird…”

“I know. That’s why I said it.” She patted the spot next to her on the couch. “Come on and sit, you should relax when you’re out of the house.”

The other girl complied by stopping what she was doing and sitting gently down on the old couch. Fate, as usual, put an arm on the back of the furniture behind where Princess was sitting. She stretched a little, yawned, and looked over at the other girl. “We need to start thinking of things to do. I like your company but I also want to have some fun.”

“I guess that makes sense, I am not a fun person to be around…”

“No, that’s not it, we just need to find stuff to do and talk about during the time you have outside of that uptight house of yours. Something that you could learn to have fun with… I know, maybe we should go…”

Three loud pounds on the door interrupted the blond’s train of thought.

“Who the hell could that be?” Red eyes turned towards the door.

“Fate?” a woman’s voice, “Fate… Are you home?”

The one being called for brought both hands to cover her face as she slouched down into the couch. “No” she whispered, “Not this shit…”

The woman knocked on the door again and her voice became more firm, “Fate, let me in. Fate I need you to open this door. Fate I know you still live here.” The women started to get angry, pounding harder on the door. “FATE TESTAROSSA YOU WILL OPEN THIS DOOR THIS INSTANT!”

“Umm, Fate? I think you need to answer that…” The brunette looked at her now depressed friend.

“Yeah,” She stood up, “I know.”

She made her way over to the door, grabbing her mace on the way. Looking through the peep hole she confirmed who was standing outside of her door. Regardless of that, she still hooked the chain latch up before opening the door. The woman on the other side changed her angry composure and put on a gentle expression.

“Hello Fate. It is nice to see you.”

Sure that the woman was alone she opened the door fully. “What do you want Precia?”

“That’s no way to talk to me.” The woman peered into Fate’s apartment. “Oh, I see, you have company.”

“Why are you visiting me, Mother?” The blond’s voice was laced at irritation.

“Well, you see… ummm…” the women brought an uneasy hand up to push away her hair.

“Well I see you are stoned again, but I don’t see why you are pestering me.” The blond wanted an answer now.

“I’m pestering you because…” what was first said in anger swung to charm. “Fate will you let me stay her for a few days? I’ll stay out of your hair and find a place real soon.”

“You are hiding again aren’t you?” Fate sighed and leaned against the door frame ‘Should have known where this was going.’

“It’s just been a little hard lately; we just need some time…” it was a shaky explanation.

Fate grew firm, “I’m not having your creepy boyfriends or dealers lurking around here.”

“It’s just me, your mother.” The woman was pleading in a half baked tone.

“Until you get another one of your mood swings and start missing your current reject. I’m not going to let you into my apartment so that I can come home one day to find one of your fucked up ‘boyfriends’ rummaging through my stuff and fucking you on my bed. If you are that willing to get away from this guy then go to a shelter.”

Preica took offense to that statement, “I’m not one of those strung out gutter trash.”

“Yes you are Precia. You are just like them with the alcohol, drugs, emotional and abusive boyfriend problems.”

“How dare you talk to me like that?”

“Yes, Precia I do dare to talk to you like that.” Fate stood defiant in the doorway, “You are a complete mess and I don’t want you fucking my life up more than you already have. This is your problem and you have to deal with it.”

“You are an ungrateful, vicious bitch, I am your mother. You have no idea what I had to do to raise your worthless ass. I guess it was pointless to trouble myself over brining you up. Your sister was a better daughter. She was so much more well behaved than you are.”

With that Fate’s eyes burned with anger. There was no question in her mind about what she did next. With a quick motion she punched the woman in the face, sending her on the ground with a bloody, and possibly broken, nose.

“YOU IGNORANT WHORE; YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO TALK ABOUT HER LIKE THAT!” Fate looked down on the quivering woman before calming down. “If you really want the help, go to a shelter. They can put you on your feet, not me.”

Precia staggered to pick herself up. Once she could manage to keep herself upright while holding her bloody nose she stared at her daughter. It was a look of disappointment, fear, and pain all mixed into one. The woman had tried, but she knew she couldn’t keep this fight up so she left. Fate closed the door to her apartment and saw a nervous Princess looking back at her from the couch. The blond brought a hand to push back some of the hair that had gotten in front of her face in her anger.

“You didn’t need to see that…”

Suzuka looked at her former classmate in the middle of sipping her tea. “You seem distressed Nanoha. Is there something troubling you?” The woman sat down her cup and focused more intensely at the overly worried brunette.

The girl snapped out of her trance, “Oh, it’s nothing to worry about. I was just thinking over a recent problem.”

“Well I am here to help you. My husband knows a few up and coming business men that would be perfect for you. You will get married soon, so you don’t have to worry about it.”

Nanoha shook her head at this insistence of marriage. “No, it was just about some quarrel I saw.”

“There is no need to be bothered by such things. However, I wonder, why did you decide to visit me this evening?”

“I just wanted to be somewhere other than my own home. I should socialize a little more.”

“That is an appropriate idea for you. Now let’s make this night useful, I have a few fashion books to help get you a jump start on your wedding.”

‘Ok, that wasn’t there before’ Fate looked at the object that was leaning against her hedge trimmer. She was alone today at the Takamachi property to trim some bushes that were not ready the last time the whole crew was there. Because she was alone she needed to make two trips to get stuff out of and into the truck. Right now was her second trip putting her tools away and there was this something sitting by her trimmer. It was a sealed pink envelope that had her first name on it in clear cursive. Quietly she picked it up along with the rest of the tools and made her way to the truck. Once sitting in the driver’s seat she took a closer inspection of the envelope. ‘Is this like a love letter or something? I mean damn, I didn’t think I was this far in the girl’s pants. The only thing I proved to her is that I want to unzip them. I don’t know, I just don’t want to screw and run on this girl.’ At this moment she opened up the letter and read its contents telling her when and where to meet Princess. ‘Well, I can guess what this is about.

The landscaper stared at the building across the street. This just didn’t feel right to her. There were people walking around in upscale clothes, driving around in upscale cars and everything was decorated in an upscale atmosphere. Given how much she dragged Princess into her world, she guessed it was only fair to be dragged into her world for once. At this point she spotted her brunette friend in front of the mentioned building waving to her. With a shrug she made her way across the road, getting gawked at by the stiffs for being in (naturally) cut up jeans and an old tee-shirt that had an eye, a heart, and cat on it. Once she got in speaking distance she addressed her friend.

“Nice letter, but I thought that you were supposed to leave a lock of hair or fragrance or something in them as well.”

The brunette led the other into the coffee shop, “I just wanted to meet with you but I didn’t have much time… so I made the letter.”

‘More like you didn’t what to be put on the spot about what you wanted right away.’ Fate sighed. “Well ok, we’re here… Now what?”

“Well, umm, why don’t we get something to drink first?” Nanoha pointed at the counter. The blond followed her forward and looked over the menu.

“What the hell is this shit?” A few heads turned to see who made the comment.

“I will order for you,” the brunette said in a shaky nervous tone.

Fate took another sip of the drink at her window seat with her friend. She didn’t know what to make of liquid before her. It wasn’t bad tasting, but definitely something new to her taste buds. Looking over at Princess she could tell that the other girl wanted to say something. Whatever it was, she was very nervous about it, so Fate decided to help her along. “So why did you want to go out today?”

The girl stopped drinking from her cup and looked down at her lap. “I don’t know if I should be asking this.”

“Asking what?”

Nanoha hesitated. “About the last time I was at your apartment.”

Fate knew what she wanted to ask, but she thought it would be better if Princess said it herself. “What about that last time?”

“I was wondering… About that woman?”

“Yes?”

“Who is your… mother?”

A nod.

“And was very strange.”

Another nod.

“Who you seemed angry with, and something about her and you and… a sister?”

Fate brought her chin to rest on her hands, her deep burgundy eyes looking into the others innocent blue one’s. “You want to know what that was all about, huh?”

“I, I just got… so concerned and worried over it… I don’t know that much about you. I thought that you were joking when you said your name was Fate… I thought it was something that might bother you and… shouldn’t friends listen when something is bothering each other?” She paused. “We are friends… Right?”

Fate nodded “We are friends. Well you are friends with a girl that has the raging hots for you, but yes, friends. And yes, good friends do share what is troubling each other.”

The brunette showed signs of easiness with the confirmation that they were friends.

“So, do you want to know about me?”

“Yes, please”

The blond looked around a little to see if there was anyone she didn’t want to eavesdrop. “Well, lest see… In my family there was my mother, my father, and my older sister. We were simple people, not dirt poor, but not middle class. My father was a local truck driver. I can’t remember much about him, but he was always home at some point every day and he loved my mother very much. When I was five and Alicia, my sister, was eight he died in an accident. It hit my mother the hardest. It seemed like my dad was the one who held her together. Sis told me some times that when dad was gone, mom would have mood swings and seem a little down. When he passed away mother broke down. At first it wasn’t all that bad. She would be depressed, maybe forget to get some food, hit us every once and a while, but it was still ok. Then she started to drink at some point. Sometimes we couldn’t go to school. Sometimes we had to find our own dinner. Then when I was twelve she met the people who would give her drugs. Apparently not the hardest kind, but still… Food and going to school was still a problem. Clean clothes were another problem. At first I would wear Alicia’s hand-me-downs but as I grew taller she ended up wearing mine. Strange people started hanging around the apartment. Mother couldn’t keep her life together but she still couldn’t completely destroy it. We had to get out; we had to find somewhere better… I did get out. We tried to find jobs, earn a little money, so that we could get out of that apartment. It was tough trying to get a job and hiding the money from my mother. We were doing good though, better than mother could manage, but that does not stop the bad things from happening. I finally got out, into a new apartment with a job at the landscaping company. I rid myself of that woman; she can destroy her own life and suffer, but she should not be allowed to pull me down with her. She needs help, but I can’t help her. I stood on my own, she needs to learn too.”

Fate could see the sad expression in Nanoha’s face. ‘Great, now what is she going to do?’

“What happened to your sister? You said that you go out, but what about her? What is she like?”

The blond looked down at her drink for a moment, then slightly around the shop.

“Not… here.”

A/N: You can thank Satashi for the setting of the second scene. Satashi got hit with some inspiration to write a Richgirl!Nanoha to parallel my fic and came to me with that part while I was working on what is the third scene of this chapter. Low and behold what was written in RG!N fit rather well with what I already had and gave me a before hand of how Nanoha to came over to Fate’s (One that I desperately needed), so some of the credit goes to him/her. Chapter 9: Sister

“Ne, Sis?” One blond hummed to the other that was combing her hair.

The questioned one slowed down. “What is it?” she asked in a gentle tone.

“Do you think mommy will ever get better? She’s hasn’t been herself for a long time.” She looked back at her sibling.

“I don’t know,” an honest answer as her hand brushed a few strands of hair from her sister’s face, “I think she could get better, someday.” With that she gently nudged the other’s face to look forward again to resume her work.

“I wish dad was here… Things were nicer when he was here…”

The brush was set down in order to pick up a hair tie. “I wish he was here too…”

A minuet passed in silence.

“Sis... I’m hungry…” Sympathetic arms reached around to hold her from behind.

“I’m hungry too…”

Landscaper!Fate

“Sister”

They had been walking for fifteen minuets by now. Fate had no idea where she was at over on this side of the town, but she knew she was seeking somewhere quiet to talk. Up ahead she spotted the perfect place, a local park. Unlike the ones around her side of town this one had grass instead of concrete and lacked some of the lesser beings of the population.

‘Why the hell am I even doing this? I mean come on Fate, some pretty girl flashes her deep blue eyes and you feel like spilling your life story? Looking back she caught a glimpse at those said eyes, still worried since they met in the café. Looking forward again she sought out a bench for them to sit at. ‘And yet she is so curious about me, about anything for that matter…I don’t think she knows what it means to share something personal with someone else. Shit, I’m starting to actually think she doesn’t have any real friends. I guess it would be ok if she knew; it might maker her feel like she has a true friend.’ A secluded bench under a tree had been found at this point and with a little leading, she got Princess to sit next to her.

Stretching her arms out, Fate leaned back a look at the sky through the leaves. “How the hell should I start this?” she looked over at Nanoha for a second before turning her attention to the sky again.

“Wa… what does she look like?” Feeling like she dug too deep, Princess became nervous about asking new questions.

“Ok, let’s start with that… People use to swear that we where identical twins. I told you that she was three years older than me, but by some twist of… fate… we looked very similar. Really, if you want an image of Alicia just look at me, only a bit shorter…” She trailed off leaving room to think what she should say next.

“Did you two get along? I know that some sisters don’t get along very well…”

“We” Fate put on a fake smile “We were inseparable, that is when we were together.” He voice hinted with hesitation. “We would always play together, like in the hall of the apartment building or at the playground.” The smile was still there, but the meaning of it changed slightly.

Eleven Years Ago

“Push me higher Fate! Higher!” Alicia cheered as she reached higher on the swings.

“I’m pushing as hard as I can Alicia.” The younger one stuck out the tongue when the swinging girl leaned back towards her. “Shouldn’t you be pushing me…? I am the little one.”

Alicia giggled at the protest. “But little sis is stronger.”

“And shorter!” This time she refused to push the girl.

Alicia leaned back again. “But you are growing so fast. You are going to be bigger than me in no time.”

“And that means what?”

“That Fate can do things I can’t.”

Fate looked at her sister, now trying to swing on her own and not getting as high as when she was being pushed. ‘Do things she can’t…?’

“I want to reach the sky Fate,” her older sister looked upward as her swings got shorter, “and float among the clouds. You will help me, wouldn’t you?” dream fogged eyes looked at more clearly defined ones.

“Yes Sis, I’ll make sure you float among the clouds.”

Current

“So you two had lots of fun right?” Nanoha smiled starting to decide that Alicia was a nice girl.

“Yea, we tried to…”

Skipping that comment Nanoha went to her next question, “So, what is she like… What types of things interested her?”

Fate took a moment to think. “She was… gentle.”

“So not like you?” The comment shocked both the blond and the one who said it.

“Yea… you could say that. She was always dreaming and doodling. She loved cute things. Alicia was as girly as you could get without being one of those drama bitches I’ve come across. She was… well… unique.” Fate avoided looking at Nanoha and instead took to watching the leaves on the tree.

Nanoha started to realize that Fate was using the past tense. Recalling that she said that only she “got out” an unsettling curiosity filled her. “You, umm, said that you two saved up money when things where not good at home. But you also said that you only found an apartment… what about your sister?” Concern grew on brunette’s face as she shyly questioned her friend.

“Do you really want to know? Princess, this world is not all peaches and cream… I mean there is some bad shit that goes down and I don’t know if you could wrap you head around it.”

Nanoha tried to stand her ground, “I just…” She looked at the earth beneath her “I know I don’t know a lot of things… but I want to know. When I saw you and your mother fighting, it was something that I’ve never seen before. Seeing how you reacted when she mentioned your sister made me realize that I don’t know anything about you. I know you are… unlady like from what I was told was proper but…” She looked back at the blond, “Fate, I just really want to get to know you…”

A silence passed over the girls. “You want to hear it, huh?”

“Yea… I don’t want to be nosey, that’s not what I want. I just want to...”

“I get it Princess.” Truly, Fate felt like she understood why Nanoha wanted to know more. She let more time pass; trying to form the words she dreaded to tell. “Well, since you brought up that we where saving money to leave the apartment I ought to start with that… You see, it wasn’t just the fact that Precia was always stoned and that there was no food in the house that made us want to leave. It was… the boyfriends.”

“The boyfriends?”

“Yea… See Precia must have been a big score. Not only did you get a woman that you could have your way with, but she also had two young daughters as well…”

“What do you mean?”

“What I mean is that they would try to get some more pussy from us…” Nanoha’s eyes grew to the size of dinner plates when she realized what Fate was saying. “You know, I think I was born with two traits. One, and one you know very well, is a high libido, but only when I’m in the mood.” The blond smiled at admitting her sex drive was large. “Second… I am a fighter. So when they would try to touch me, they learned their lesson real quick. I never wanted them in bed so they could never get me in to bed with them. Alicia on the other hand… She wasn’t a fighter…”

Six years ago

Hands reached for the keys as Fate walked down the hall with a bag of groceries. Luckily she could mask what she bought with the money her mother received this month. She knew full well that if her mother or her friends got wind that there was more money in the apartment they would tear it apart and waste it on booze and drugs. Reaching the door she put the key into the lock and turned not getting the expected click of the lock unlocking. Slowly she entered the apartment, scanning across the living room. No one was in the room, but her bedroom door was slightly ajar. Silently she moved over to the kitchen with her ears at high alert. Finally catching the sound of muffled breaths and rhythmic creaks she hastened her pace. Dropping the food stuffs on the counter she reached into the cabinets below and pulled out a frying pan. With that she made quick and silent steps to her room. Upon pushing the door open she confirmed her fears. There he was pinning her naked on the bed doing his business to her. With her rage in full force, Fate jumped up onto the bed and swung the pan in the stunned man’s face.

“Get the fuck off of my sister!” Screaming at the top of her lungs she took another swing forcing the man to stumble off of the bed. “You fucken bastard! You have no right to touch her like that!” More swings using the edge of the pan landed on the man’s back and torso. “How do you like getting battered you fucken sleaze ball?” Another swing, “She’s not your sex toy you stupid prick!” She brought the pan down on the man’s hands, doing serious damage to them. “What? Is my mother’s pussy not enough for you? Fuck that all you want, I don’t give a shit, just don’t you dare rape my sister again!” The bruised man was now trying to run out of the room. He only made it so far before a well placed swing to his genitals left him to crawl out of the apartment. “Try it again and I’ll nail them to the floor!”

Burgundy eyes glared at the open door. Heavy breaths shook her whole body as she waited for any kind of retaliation. As the adrenalin faded she walked over to the door, slamming it shut and locking the deadbolt. Slowly she walked back to her room, calming herself down from the high and dropping her weapon on the way. Once in the room she spotted her older sister, covering herself with the bed sheets and crying so hard that her body shook. Gently the taller one closed the door and crawled onto the bed. Open arms received the traumatized girl, pulling her into a familiar embrace. A soft kiss was placed on her head and a hand stoked the golden hair.

“It’s ok now… I’m here.” She let her sister seek comfort in her embrace for a while. As her sobbing died she lifted her up. “Come on… Let’s get you cleaned.”

“I’d try my best to protect her…” Fate’s eyes lost focus “I thought that if we could stick together, then nothing bad would happen. It kind of worked… No matter who they thought they were, if I was around her they couldn’t even think about touching her. I couldn’t always be around her though. Earning money and going to school once in a blue moon separated us.” The blond now looked at Nanoha with a face of warning. “It was then that they would rape her, when her defenses where nowhere to be seen. Every night that it happened I would have to hold her as she cried herself to sleep. Watching her suffer was unbearable; I need to take my sister away from there, somewhere where she was safe.”

Nanoha was still wide eyed at this revelation. She had heard a few things about kids being violated, but it never sunk in that it really happened. Every ounce of her being hoped that Fate had a better tale at the end, but she felt like it could only get worse. Nervously she pressed on. “What eventually happened to you and your sister?”

“The bastards took her from me.”

Five years ago

Dim morning light filtered through the sisters’ bed room. The stimulation brought Fate out of her light sleep. Casually with her eyes closed she reached out for sister. Grabbing hold of her shirt she slid herself closer, rubbing her hand along the fabric. “Moring Alicia” the younger one whispered to her sister. She continued her stroking, knowing how much it felt good to her sister. Her hand moved from the cloth of her shirt to her arms, feeling damp skin. The night had been warm and Fate herself was a little damp from sweating, but her sister’s skin also felt cool. “Alicia?” She whispered out as she opened her eyes. With what she could make out with her sleep clouded eyes her sister was breathing quietly but heavily. Her skin was soaked with sweat and was unusually pail. Fate’s alertness picked up as she nudged Alicia. “Hay… Sis? Hay… you okay?”

Weakly the other blond opened up her eyes. “Fate?” she whispered “Fate… it still hurts…”

Fate watched as her sister faded out. “Sis? Sis! What’s wrong?” She nudged at the others chest, feeling the racing heartbeat. She tried to move to get on top of her, but froze when she felt her leg touch something damp. Panic now punching in she lifted up the sheets, reveling a blood stains between her sister’s legs. “Oh… OH GOD! ALICIA!” Fate nudged her sister again, trying to wake her up. Everything raced through her mind, trying to sort out what she should do. Before long she found herself picking up Alicia and running out of the apartment, stepping over someone in the process. Once out side she spun around, not sure where to go. ‘Some where… some where… where can I take her?’ She stopped to eye a building six blocks down the street. “The hospital!”

People with stuffy noses. People with minor cuts on their bodies. People with pain in various parts of the body. And now this dismal waiting area greets a blond screaming bloody murder as she busts through the doors.

“SOMEONE, HELP HER! SOMETHING’S WRONG WITH MY SISTER!”

The admin nurse looked up casually at the newcomer and upon seeing the blood soaked clothes of the limp one being carried, instantly called for an ER doctor. Rushing from the other side of the waiting room, various medical staff came to the girl’s attention, picking up Alicia for Fate’s arms and laying her on a stretcher. Fate tried to follow, but a nurse stopped her.

“I’m sorry but you’re going to have to wait here”

“But she’s my…” The young girl pleaded

“Your sister is in good hands… don’t worry.”

Fate looked down the hall where they had rushed her sister and knowing that she couldn’t do anything sat down in the chairs in defeat. After a few moments the nurse brought her a form to fill out but the young blond could only write a few things on it.

An eternity passed. Her eyes were glazed over with images of her sister resonating in her mind. She couldn’t actually see them, but she could feel them. The other people took glances at her, eyeing the blood of her sister on her clothes, seeing this fifteen year old girl with dirty clothes and the air of fear of adults around her. To her it didn’t matter if they pinned her some charity case poor kid, all she wanted was her sister.

Fate snapped too the second time she was called for attention. Looking up she saw two officers motioning her to come out of the waiting room. She followed them into an empty room and was requested to sit down.

The older officer addressed Fate first. “Ma’am, can you tell us what happened to the women you brought in?”

“You mean my sister Alicia right?”

“Yes, can you tell us why she was bleeding when you brought her in?” The same officer calmly questioned again.

Fate was getting apprehensive with what the officer was asking. “I don’t know why she was bleeding; I just woke up and found her like that.”

The younger officer stepped in, “Was she assaulted?”

“Why do you need to know?” Anger crept in to her voice as she was being asked such a personal question about their sister.

“Ma’am” the calmer officer took over from the other, “We need to ask this every time a woman comes into the emergency room with bleeding like your sister was. It’s only standard procedure.”

Fate calmed down a little, “Not… recently.”

“Your sister has been assaulted before?” The gun ho officer responded, “By whom? Can you give a description?”

Venom seeped back into the girl’s speech “How the hell should I know. I don’t keep track of every sick fuck that comes lurking around.”

The other officer raised his hands to keep the girl from getting too worked up “Ok… Well is there a parent or guardian we can call?”

“Not someone that would give a shit...”

At this moment the door opened reveling one of the doctors that wheeled Alicia to the emergency room. “The nurse told me that you took her here. Officers? Do you mind waiting outside for a moment?”

“If you wait we can finish our questions…”

“Just, wait outside. The nurse will tell you what you need to know.”

The officers caught on that there was no need for their services and left the room. With just the doctor and Fate in the room, the blond stood up.

“My sister, how is she?”

“Um…” the doctor looked at his chart “Fate? Is there a parent or guardian I can talk to?”

“Just tell me how she is she doing!” The blond screamed with tears staring to form. The doctor, in an act of kindness, tried to reach out but had his hand slapped away by the defensive girl. “Just,” her voice was calmer this time “tell me…”

“I will need to tell a guardian at some point.”

“Mother doesn’t give a fuck about us…”

Silence passed in the room as the doctor decided his next course of action. “Well then… sit down…”

“One day her stomach started to hurt her. It continued for a few weeks. Didn’t think much about it. Couldn’t do much about it when you have no health care… Then just one day…” Fate stopped, swallowing what she had to recall. “Even thought I rushed her to the hospital there was nothing that could be done. I can’t remember what the word was that the doctor used to term what had happened. Basically she got pregnant and the child was in the wrong place. When it got too big it ripped her insides… she bled to death.” She looked at Nanoha dead on “I mean what the fuck? It wasn’t enough that they had to rape her; they had to have their bastard festering inside of her, only to make her suffer even more. If ever found out which one of them knocked her up I would make him suffer more than she did.” Fate looked away in despair “I swear, Mother should have just whored us out if that’s what our life was going to be reduced to.”

“But you talked to the police men right? They help fix that stuff.” Nanoha tried to believe her own words.

“Not when there are too many people to describe. Besides, if the law finally did get wise that our mother was a deadbeat, it was too late. The next day was when we had planed to leave her and those assholes behind. I ended up leaving with out Alicia to the new apartment, far from Precia and hopefully to a safer life.” She kicked the ground sending dust into the air. “There you go, that’s my family. They’re either dead, fucked up, or both. You wanted to know about them…” With that storyteller returned her eyes to the leaves.

The only sound that followed was the sound of wind rustling the leaves of the tree. Fate turned back to look at Princess. Her eyes were starting to well up with tears and her breathing was upset.

“I… I… I didn’t know…” she brushed a tear out of her eyes. “Here I worry about myself when…”

“Oh now don’t you give me that ‘that’s so sad’ bullshit.” The blond glared back at her.

“But it is sad!” Nanoha protested, “Why did you have to grow up like that?”

“Because shit happens Princess. Everyone has something in their life that just plain old blows balls.”

Nanoha took a moment to calm herself down. “So that’s why…”

“Why what?” the blond was interest in whatever the brunette deduced.

“Why you are so strong.” She put her hands on her lap and faced the distance “Because bad things happened to you, you became strong.”

‘No, I think I was born strong…All that stuff that happened to me…It didn’t make me stronger…’ Fate nudge the girl to get her to look at her. “All I did was stand on my feet.”

“…” Nanoha thought about it for a moment “I wish I could have met your sister.”

“You know what; I wish you could have too…” Fate took a look at her watch “Well now this is interesting, we met at the coffee joint two and a half hours ago. Aren’t you going to get in trouble?”

Nanoha pulled out her cell to check the time herself. “Oh, there’s nothing to worry about, I told my father that I was meeting Arisia at that shop. I also said that I didn’t know how long we would be and that I would call my driver when we where done.”

“Smart move Princess… Tell me, how does a sheltered girl like you come up with these ideas?”

“Oh, I got it from some books I read. I just never felt confident enough to try some of that kind of stuff.”

“Can I read your book some time?”

“Oh I have many books you could…” Princess read the expression on Fate’s face. “You meant something dirty didn’t you…?”

“Well those books of yours ought to have dirty stuff in them.”

“I don’t, read those kinds of things…” Nanoha blushed darkly at the mention of such text.

Fate chuckled. “You’re so innocent; there is so much for you to learn.” Getting up, she led her friend out of the park

“Fate?”

“Yes Alicia?”

“Teach me to be like you… I want to be stronger…”

“I’ll try…”

Chapter 10: Popcorn

“Popcorn”

Fate flung her keys onto the coffee table as she came home from another brutal day at work. The summer heat was starting to kick in after a few days of rain, making keeping up with the grass on the properties her group was assigned to a real pain in the ass. Walking into the kitchen she grabbed a pizza out of the freezer and hugged it to her chest. “Soooo hooot….” She moaned out, letting the chill from the frozen food cool herself down for a few moments. Reluctantly she set the pizza down and turned on the oven. She was thankful at times like this that she saved up the money to get an A/C that could cool down her whole apartment enough to stock produce in, so having the oven on wouldn’t heat up the place. After the oven preheated she slid the pizza in and made her way to get the grime off of her. Carelessly she striped down in her bedroom, grabbed a tank top and a pair of panties, and then made her way into the shower. Lazily the blond washed herself, leaving no spaced untouched in order to get the stink of sweat off. After the suds where rinsed off she rested against the wall to enjoy the feeling of the water spraying on her skin. This moment of rest was a welcome to her as she began to forget about the day of hard work. Unfortunately she forgot other things… “Oh shit! My pizza!” Quickly she shut off the water and did a quick dry before wrapping the towel around herself. Running out of the bathroom she skidded to the oven and pulled out a burnt round object. “My pizza…” Disappointed in the result, she set it out to cool as she went back to put on her clothes. Returning once the food cooled down a little she sliced it up and slid it onto a plate. Reaching into the fridge the girl pulled out a can of her favorite drink and with a shake of a hip, closed the door and made her way to her beat up old couch. Plopping down she turned on the tube and took a bite of her food. “Meh, it’s edible”. Flipping through the channels she could only find reruns of reruns and newscasts full of nonsense. Just when she was about to give up her phone rang. With a reoccurring lazy streak she got up to answer the phone.

“Hello?”

“Oh, hello Fate. I hope I didn’t call at a bad time.”

“Ah, Princess. You know there is a weird thing about your timing.” Fate returned to her couch. “You have a habit off calling when I’m half naked. Hell, I bet if you ever decide to drop by unannounced I’d be in the bedroom getting busy with myself…”

“Well, umm…” the poor girl was flustered “Sorry?”

“Don’t be, I just took a shower right after work is all. I only planed on lounging around today so I skipped out on getting fully dressed. Anyways…What’cha calling about?”

“I wanted to know if we could do something together tonight?”

“Depends” Fate rolled over onto her stomach and grabbed another slice of pizza. “I don’t mind just hanging around, but I’m too beat to go walking around all over town.”

“So… you can’t meet me tonight…?” Nanoha sounded disappointed

“No… I can meet you where we normal get together at, that’s no problem. Its just walking the extra distance anywhere other than that that’s the problem. If its ok with you we could just lounge around at my place, but I don’t know what we could do…”

“Humm… something we could do at your place.” Nanoha thought real hard about this. “Oh I know! There’s been something I have always wanted to do if its ok with you.”

“Alright shoot.” The blond took a bite of her pizza, ‘Just what could this girl come up with...’

Fate keyed her door and let Princess in, who was egger to set up shop.

“Why do I have a bad feeling about this?”

Nanoha turned around with a pout on her face. “You don’t want to do this?”

“I’m just saying this is girly stuff I don’t normally do. Well the last time I did this was when I was a kid…”

“But I always wanted to do somebody’s hair.” The girl still had a pout.

“I never thought I would have my hair done at this point in my life, but alright, I’ll give it a shot.”

The brunette’s spirits picked up “Ok then, I’ll do you first. Where should we do this at?”

“Well, there’s the couch, but that could get awkward trying to get comfortable to sit down and to do each other’s hair… How about my bed? Plenty of room to move around to do our business.”

“Okay,” and with that she took off into the bedroom.

“And it flies right over the girl…” With a light chuckle followed, surprised to find that Nanoha had already unpacked her stuff and was waiting by kneeling on the bed. ‘Well, if this is the kind of thing that will make her happy, I’m up for it.’

“Have a seat.” Nanoha patted the space right in front of her.

“I think I will,” she complied with the request. ‘God, my mind is already in the dumpster.’

“Do you have anything you want done to you Fate?”

‘I can think of a few things that would blow your mind.’ “No, nothing special… Do you have something in mind for me?”

“Not really” Nanoha picked up her brush and begin to comb the other girl’s hair out. “So… How was your day?”

“It sucked.”

“Oh…”

“Yeah, I spent all day pushing banks out in the hot sun. I’m kind of use to it now but God damn, we had to do the properties with the real bastard ones.”

“Umm… Fate? What are ‘banks’ and ‘pushing’?”

“Hillsides… you know like banked ground… and pushing as in pushing a lawnmower… something like that.”

“How come you have to push a lawnmower on them? Isn’t that what a tractor is for?”

“Some of those banks get really slippery and steep. If we used a tractor on them the best case scenario is that it just slips and tears up the grass, something that we have to replace and spend out of our paychecks. Self-propelleds also blow on banks since they can get away from you and mess up your lines and such. So… to make it look all neat you have to spend the time to do it by hand and to just put up with how much of a pain in the ass it is.”

“We have hill sides on our lawn… do you find those difficult?” Nanoha continued to conversation as she went about fixing up Fate’s hair.

“No, not really.” The blond sighed out “There’s no big divots to get stuck or bottom out on and no little ones to bounce your ass all over the place. All you really have to do is fight the weight of the mower and put up with their length.”

“Umm… Sorry it’s such a trouble.”

“Don’t be. Like I said, they aren’t that bad and it puts food in my fridge.”

“Okay.” Nanoha put down her brush and reached into her bag. “Do you like pink?”

“Depends on what it is. If it’s your panties, sure, I’d like that. I can think of other pink things I like too but I can talk about those things later.”

“Oh well up… no they’re not my, ah,” The girl started to mumble “panties, they’re hair ribbons.”

“Ribbons, huh?” The blond brought a hand to her chin in thought. “Maybe just for this… Pink is not really my color.”

“Okay then, here I go.” Nanoha picked up a section of hair and began to work with it to tie it up with one of her ribbons. The smooth feeling of having hands run through her hair brought Fate to close her eyes and enjoy the touch. More hair was smoothed out and tied up. Nanoha worked with the blond hair a little bit more before she was satisfied with her first creation. Happily she pulled out her mirror and held it in front of Fate. “Open up and take a look”

Fate opened her eyes to see a ghost staring wide eyed back at her in the mirror. It took her a moment to realize that it was herself with the twin pigtails in the reflection. Slowly she brought a hand up to run her fingers through her hair. “Oh wow. You umm… I didn’t expect something like this.”

“I did well?”

“Yeah…”

Nanoha was now ecstatic “Good, you look so cute with your hair like that.”

“Oh, so you’re starting to think of me as ‘cute’ now.” The blond stumbled to defend herself.

“Well I didn’t mean. Wait, no, that doesn’t sound right… Mou…” Princess put her face into her hands in order to cover her embarrassment.

Fate took one more look at herself in the mirror. “Do you want me to do your hair as well?” She looked back over to her friend who now had her face out of her hands.

“Yes please!”

The girls switched places quickly and Fate began to rummage through Nanoha’s bag trying to think of what kind of hair style she should do. Not wanting to take a chance, she went the direct route. “Anything special you want done?”

“I want something kind of fun.”

“How about a pony tail?”

“Like the one you have?” Princess got all excited “I would love something like that!”

“Alright then, one ponytail coming right up.” Fate started to smooth out Nanoha’s hair. “So to shoot the bull…Got any boyfriends to bash on?”

“Umm… bash on?”

“You know, anyone you have dated that you absolutely hate and want to talk shit about them. Wait, you have dated someone before right?”

“Well, I do get set up on dates by my parents. It’s typically just a dinner or something to meet them.”

“Eww, that has to suck. Meet any losers?”

“Yeah, I don’t really like the guys they find for me… They’re very self-centered…”

“Go on…”

“And they always talk about how much money they are making, or what kind of car they want to buy, or what they do for the company the work for. If I have to go on dates with them I would like to hear about their own lives… not their job.”

“Who knows, a salary man’s job might just be his life.”

“I guess so… and you know what else I don’t like? They try kissing me at some point during the date. I just turn my head, as a lady should not kiss someone in public.”

“And… what about you, what do you personally think about kissing without all that ‘being a lady’ crap.”

“Fate?”

“Really, what would make you let someone kiss you?”

“Well umm…” Nanoha fiddled with her fingers “I guess I would want to know them a little better and… I don’t know, I don’t think of these things.”

“Well, at least now I know a little bit so that I don’t screw up.”

“Huh?”

“Nothing.” Fate picked up a black string to use to tie up the other’s hair ‘But I’m sure as hell screwing up big time here. I mean come on… I’m making an already hot girl even hotter during this. That smooth hair of hers, that bare neck… Damn I think I’m going to burst here. She’s just so…” Reaching around her she picked up the mirror. “There you go.”

Blue eyes lit up at the creation. “That’s great! I look kind of cool!”

“You look kind of hot.”

“I do?”

“Yes you do…”

Later that week

Fate pick up her ringing phone. “Now I know this can not be Princess calling because I got all my clothes on right now.”

“Fate...” Nanoha answered back nervously.

The blond just giggled. “I only said that because I knew that you would be calling. Now, what is it you want to do tonight?”

“How did you know I wanted to do something?”

“Because you are predictable, in a good way. Just to let you know I’m feeling good tonight and I don’t have work tomorrow so we can go wherever you want and do whatever you want.”

“Well in that case, I kind of wanted to go see a move…”

Fate looked over at the clock. “Now?”

“Yes… I’ve never been to a movie theater before…”

“Well, I do know of some late night theaters so… I can pick you up right away.” Fate replied hesitantly.

“Okay then, see you soon Fate.”

“See you soon.”

Fate leaned against the light post waiting for Nanoha. Overcome with the sense of déjà vu, she bounced off the post and paced around. Eventually the princess came into view and once she did Fate had to bring a hand to her mouth. At first it started as a snicker, then a light chuckle, before going into full blown rolling on the ground laughter.

“What!?” The girl being laughed at puffed out her cheeks.

“Nice job there, Princess” Fate pointed at her lopsided ponytail.

“It’s very hard putting your own hair into a pony tail,” the girl defended herself.

“No its not,” the other calmed down from her little fit, “but this does make you a little special.”

“Special? You don’t mean that in a bad way do you?”

“Not really” Fate dropped the subject and lightly grabbed Nanoha’s hand just to get her to follow along. “So… any particular movie you have in mind?”

“No, I’ll just choose something when we get there,” she answered honestly.

“Okay…”

The rest of the trip to the theater was made in relative silence as Nanoha took in the sights of another part of town. Once there the girl eyed the “now playing” list.

“Anything there that floats your boat?”

“I want to see this one.”

Fate read the title and description that Nanoha’s finger was pointing at. ‘Oh boy, a romance, this ought to be interesting…’ “Ok, I’ll go get us the tickets.”

“No, no. I want to pay for them.”

“Princess, you don’t have to…”

“Yes I do. I need to do things like this on my own.” With that she marched off to the ticket booth but ended up asking for the tickets like a shy little girl when she got there. After coming back Fate smiled and gave her friend a little pat on the back for getting the tickets before moving into the lobby. “Oh look, a food stand.”

“I’ll handle this one, ‘k Princess?”

“Okay?”

Fate made her way to the stand in confidence, that is until she read the prices. “Damn this shit is expensive.” She returned with two sodas and an extra large bucket of popcorn. “It would be better if we shared this.” She was not going to mention that it would be cheaper to share the tub of stuff.

The girls made their way down the hallway to where the movie was to be played at. Walking inside, Nanoha’s first reaction was to run down and grab a seat in the front. Fate grabbed her before she could do this and scanned the room first.

“Let’s sit over here.”

“But Fate, that’s all the way in the back…”

“Don’t worry, you’ll be able to see the move from there, trust me, it will be the best seats.”

“Well, ok.”

The girls made their way to the back to the theater and took their seats. A few advertisements played on the screen. Though Fate was not really amused by them, Nanoha seemed to get a kick out of the cartoon for the concession stand. Just before the movie started Princess took a look around the theater.

“There are not many people here.”

“Well,” Fate explained, “It is a late night show. Not many people come to the theater this late…”

“That makes sense.” The naive brunette squeezed in before the start of the movie, leaving the two to begin to watch it quietly. Nanoha sat upright in her seat keeping her attention on the feature film. Fate on the other hand just back holding the popcorn bucket between the two.

‘Great… just a generic movie,’ the blond played with the bucket. ‘And I can’t pass the time making out with her.’ Right on cue Nanoha glanced over and noticed that her friend seamed board.

“Hey…” She whispered “are you not interested in the movie Fate?”

“Honestly, I’m just here for you. And by the way, you’re the only one watching this movie.”

“What do you mean?”

“Look.” Fate pointed down at some of the people that where spaced out amongst the theater. Nearly every pair was in the midst of cuddling, making out, and for one pair, getting a little too touchy.

“Oh my!” Nanoha brought her hands to cover her face, “People are doing things like that in public?”

“Well it is a late night showing.” Fate leaned back “But I am kind of rooting for that nerdy couple up in the front.”

“I can’t believe I am seeing this.”

“Which made my decision to come up here to sit tricky…”

“How come?”

“Because how would you feel if you where sitting right next to these people as they where getting close to each other? Up here you are at least away from them, but it would be easier for you to spot them from here.”

“I see…”

“And if I so happened to want to put my arm around you… no one could see us up here, making you more comfortable about the idea.”

“You want to put your arm around me here? I don’t know about doing that kind of thing around strangers…”

“I just think it would be more comfy to watch the movie that way.” She got an embarrassed look back. “What? It’s not like I’m going to grab your boobs or something and don’t worry about the strangers, they are preoccupied right now.”

“Well…” she looked down “I guess it would be alright… but there’s this arm rest between us…”

“Oh that.” The blond grabbed underneath the rest and retracted it so that the two seats became one, “Easily fixed.”

“Convenient huh?”

“Very.” With that she scooted over to put her arm around Nanoha. The girl shifted slightly in this new position to get more comfortable. “But if you wanted to… we could do what they are doing.” She motioned back at the people in front of them.

“Umm…. Kissing? Fate that’s kind of…”

“Oh come on” the blond was obviously joking about it. “Come to the dyke side, we have tacos!” She smiled down at the princess. “But doing this is just fine with me…” More of the movie passed, and with it Princess leaned a little more towards Fate as she herself was starting to lightly stroke the other with her overhanging hand. “Want some popcorn?” Fate jiggled the half empty bucket.

“Sure…” she reached for the fluffy stuff but got her hand swatted away. She felt herself begin to pout but noticed that her friend had picked up a piece and was now holding it in front of her.

“Open up” Fate said in a sing song tone.

“Fate…” The other’s face flushed deep red.

“Please?” She gave her best ‘its okay’ smile.

Nanoha could only nod and found the piece already against her lips. With a light push of the blond’s finger, the food went in. Another was picked up and fed the same way, only this time Fate lightly touched Princess’s lips in the process brining a dark blush to the girl. Once again they went about watching the movie and taking bites of the popcorn until the more ‘experienced’ one noticed something about the movie’s direction.

“Hay umm… You do know this movie is R-15 right?”

Princess looked up at Fate “Yeah… but we’re both older than that.”

“Still…” The blond watched as the actors seemed to get a little closer to each other. “The way you are, you might not like where this is going.”

“What do you mean?”

It was then that the actors started to passionately take each others clothes off. Princess quickly buried her face into her hands and the scene became more heated, within the bounds of the rating. Fate just sat their and watched the action unfold before she too became disgusted.

“That is a fake orgasm.” She pointed at the screen as Nanoha looked up at her. “I’ve seen many orgasms in my time and I can tell that one is fake.”

“But it’s a movie…”

“Yeah but she could fake a more realistic orgasm.”

“Huh?”

“Never mind your pretty head about how to fake one… and look, the excessive sex scene is over…”

It wasn’t long after that the ending credits started to role. The few people there started to file out, including Nanoha and Fate. Uneventfully they walked out of the theater and down to their light post.

“So… Did you enjoy yourself Princess?”

“Well…” The girl looked down shyly. “It was fun to get out. Just that the people kissing in the theater was a little weird, as well as the… things in the movie.”

“But other than that?”

“It was.” She stopped under the light post. “Nice...”

“That’s good to hear.” Fate smiled. “Well then, I guess this is good night.”

“Good night Fate…” The brunette waved and walked off to her house.

“Night Princess” Fate replied back before turning towards her own home. ‘Nice…’
Chapter 11: Father

Landscaper!Fate

“Father”

“BEEP BEEP BEEP”

A groggy hit of the hand greeted the alarm clock for its efforts to wake its master up. Slowly the hand retracted and returned to its owner laying face down in her bed. Gently she rose up to be on all fours and peered through the blinds of her window. A sunny blue day was out there from what she could see. A moan came to her throat as she crawled out of her bed, stumbling as she made the transition from mattress to floor. Once righted, she moseyed out of the room and went straight for the kitchen. Two bagels from the cupboard were grabbed and plopped into a toaster and a glass of milk was poured and taken into the living room. After sitting down on the couch she clicked on the TV and tuned it to the morning news.

“Bla, bla, bla, I don’t care who got caught screwing an intern just show me the damn weather.”

More local news passed as her bagels popped up from the toaster. Keeping an eye on the TV, she spread out a layer of jam on the circular bread and returned to her spot. After one bite the local weather came on.

“Today’s forecast calls for plenty of sunshine and high relative humidity. High near 31 with a heat index of 35.”

The poor woman smacked her head off of the coffee table. “That’s just not right…” Disappointed in the forecast, she continued munching on the bagels. Finished with that, she put her plate and glass into the kitchen sink and went to brush her teeth in the bathroom. A white smile later she went back to the bedroom to get changed. She striped off her sleeping tank top, put on a clean bra, a pair of blue jeans with little rips at the bottom, some permanently stained socks and a gray company tee-shirt. Turning to the mirror above her dresser she grabbed a black hair tie, deftly putting her hair into a ponytail. Taking a good look at her self she laughed lightly while shaking her head. “How in the hell can that girl not do this the right way…” After catching a glimpse of the time she ran out of the apartment, grabbing her keys on the way, and made it to the bus stop just in time. An exchange and an elbow to some random dude’s stomach later she ended up walking her way through the warehouse doors of Harloawn Landscaping and Lawn Care. Making sure to say hi to the guard dog, she punched in and made her way to the break room.

“Boy, you look happy today Fate.” Chrono looked up from reading the paper at the table.

“Once again somebody lost their hand and I had to show them where it belongs.”

The slightly older man laughed “They can’t help it if it strays away. Those hands have a tendency to that, don’t they?”

“Hay now,” the blond pointed at him. “My hands don’t stray away, everyone knows where they are going.”

She received a glare back.

“Most of the time.”

“Anyways… cheer up; we’re going to your girl friend’s house today.”

“My girl friend’s… Oh…”

“Yep, her house.” The man added a lecherous grin.

Taking a seat across form him Fate matched his grin, “Yeah, are you implying something.”

“Maybe…”

“Well, I’m not going to deny I like her, but its not like we are going at it like rabbits.”

“Really? This has got to be a record for you.”

The blond lay back in the chair. “What… don’t believe me? I speak the truth here; I haven’t even kissed her yet.”

“And why is that?”

“I don’t know.” She rolled her eyes, “I guess I just can’t put a whole lot of moves on her. There is just something about her that I’m not able to place, you know? And it’s like, she kind of knows what I want but yet I think I would be breaking some sort of trust if I went for something bold.”

“Well if she knows its coming then you shouldn’t screw up that bad, that is unless she turns out to be 100 strait or something.”

“Is that the kind of thinking that got you into Amy’s pants?”

“Don’t turn this on me…”

“Then in that case… where the hell is Kaden? We got to get moving out soon right?

“Oh him… he decided to be a big boy last night and party with some friends.” Chrono pointed to the door marked ‘Men’. “This ought to be an interesting day.”

“Like the day we laced the brownies in the break room.”

“Not that interesting…”

“Oh good God, what the hell!” An irritated women spoke up to the sky. After enough of the already hot sun heated her face she slouched forward crossed her elbows onto of the handle bar of her mower, and planted her head down. After a few pants she looked to the side and caught a shimmer of light. “Yes! An angel of salvation!”

Nanoha was shocked to say the least at the expression that Fate was sending her way. It was a look of hunger and desperation that sent strange feelings and confusion through her. She tried to snap to when this “other” Fate was within speaking distance and held up a glass and picture of water. “I… thought you would be thirs-“

Before she could finish the blond snatched the picture and began to chug it down. Matching the gulps and gasps for air, her chest moved in and out, increasingly becoming damp from liquid that somehow managed to escape from the thirsty mouth. With more than half of the picture empty the blond let up on her thirst, panting heavily from both exhaustion and the drinking. “It’s too hot…” The women said lazily while handing the picture back.

“It is quite warm today,” Nanoha set the glass and picture down on a nearby table. “Unseasonable if one would really think… Fate, what are you doing?”

Said woman was seemingly inspecting her shirt. “Too sticky… Too hot…” Her hands came to the hem of her shirt and took a light hold. “Gotta get cool”

“Maybe you should…” At this point Princess found out just what Fate had in mind. With a steady pull the blond began to pull her shirt off. Princess found just barely enough time to yelp in shock and cover her eyes before the shirt reveled anything.

With shirt now off and feeling a bit cooler, Fate smiled at the embarrassed to hell Princess. She leaned forwarded a little, inspecting if the brunette was peeking through her fingers.

After a moment’s time she did peek through. “Huh?” Her confused eyes blinked.

“Oh… What did you think I was wearing,” Fate crossed her arms and lifted her bust up slightly, “Victoria’s Secrets?”

Slowly Princess brought her hands down reveling flush cheeks. “A.. A…” The girl tried to look at her friend. “A sports bra?”

“Of course!” She grabbed a firm hold of the breasts that where being held up by the rather plain black and purple sports bra “Gotta keep the girls in place. A lot of bouncing in this job.”

“I… See…”

“Works pretty well if I do say so my self” The blond looked down at the clothing, “Though when I’m off I prefer…” tilting her head back up she noticed Nanoha’s attempt to look away. “Kya!” she exclaimed playfully while lightly covering her chest. “I didn’t take you as a pervert.”

“I’m not a pervert!” She defended herself with puffed out and embarrassed red cheeks “You’re the one taking your clothes off!”

“Its ok,” Fate continued her play, now leaning foreword at the girl, “I wonder what kind of pretty things you wear too.” Princess tried to stammer something out but the blond just sent a friendly smiled. Realizing that she was only teasing Nanoha calmed down a little.

“Well umm… I guess I need to get more water.”

“I think you do…” Fate looked over her own shoulder to the staggering Kaden out in the field. “Cuz that boy just sweat out all the booze he drunk last night.”

Nanoha gave the women a light wave before going into the house. Quietly she walked through the hallways and into the large kitchen. Her mother was in there talking on the phone along with the cook preparing today’s lunch. After grabbing some ice from the dispenser she turned to the faucet that was hooked up to the filtration system. Filling the water picture back up, her mind wandered on about the blond outside. ‘That girl is just so…strange. Does everything she does have to revolve around such perverted things.’ With the picture now full she sat it on the counter, but still looked on in thought. ‘And yet, I believe she is so lucky to be able to say such things.’ A blush came to her cheeks. ‘Not that kind of things… Just that she’s so free to say what she wants. I wish I could live without any consequences. Without having ever single thing I say a do scrutinized.’ Picking the picture back up she went to go deliver more water to the workers just as her mother finished her phone call.

“Nanoha” the women said from her spot next to the phone.

“Yes, Mother?” The daughter answered absent mindedly.

“Your brother and sister are coming home for a few weeks. They will be here tomorrow.”

Thoughts still on her friend, Nanoha simply replied “Yes Mother.”

A soft ringing greeted the morning as the young lady woke from her sleep. Softly she turned in her canopy bed and silenced the device after which she turned her head over to the other side towards the window. From what she could make out from her view, it looked to be another pleasant day. After a smile of satisfaction she gently rose upright with a stretch and sifted her legs over the side of the mattress. As always, her slippers where right where she left them the night before, offering an easy slip of the foot to put them on. After a pause to make sure she was awake enough, the lady stood up and quietly walked into her privet bath where she washed her face. Looking into the mirror she noticed that her blue eyes still had a haze of sleep to them, but that was of no real importance. Carefully she inspected her pajamas for any revealing mistakes and once satisfied she did not become uncovered during the course of the night, left the bath and her room to head to the kitchen. Upon reaching the kitchen she slowed her walk as she caught an unusual voice.

“Well make sure that if he wishes to continue to discuss such matters that he will be in violation of his confidentiality agreement.” The business woman paced back and forth in the kitchen waiting for an answer. “Yes, those among other penalties will be pursed.”

“Having a hard time with them?” This question came from a business man sitting at the breakfast counter. He received a nod as a reply. “I guess he does not understand what the company can do to him.”

Nanoha blinked at this scene before her. She couldn’t comprehend why she was seeing what she was seeing but she knew what was before her.

“Kyōya?” she muttered to herself “Miyuki?” slowly she walked over her mother sitting at the breakfast counter. “Mother… umm?”

“The women turned to look and noticed the confusion in her daughters eyes “Did you not listen to what I said yesterday Nanoha? I told you that your brother and sister would be visiting us for a few weeks.”

Kyōya turned to look at the confused girl and then turned back to his newspaper, “figures…”

“Sorry… Mother.”

“Eat your breakfast Nanoha, you have lessons today.”

“Yes Mother.”

The girl took a seat at the counter. ‘Brother and Sister are both here? Why?’ The sound of dining ware caught her attention as the cook placed her breakfast before her. Nanoha raised her arms to take the fork and knife, but found her plate slid away from her by Miyuki who proceeded to eat the meal. Nanoha’s spirits took a nose dive by this action. When she did have the courage to look up she found a sympathetic look coming form the cook before she turned to make the lady another breakfast.

“What is this?” Nanoha lost all the color from her face as she turned to face her father. “Nanoha, why are you walking around in your sleepwear? This is not a commoner’s home. Go get dressed now.”

Nanoha looked down at her lap with the added delay in her receiving breakfast. “Yes, Father”

“Look at me when you talk to me.”

“Yes Father.”

Nanoha stared off into space as her lessons continued. She didn’t care about whatever the tutor was blabbing on about, all she could think of was this morning. An ugly feeling grew in the pit of her stomach, one she seemed to have forgotten about. Her lack of attention did not go unnoticed by the tutor. If that was not bad enough, her father and brother both walked into the pallor at that same moment.

“Is Nanoha giving you a hard time?” Shirō asked as his daughter hung her head in shame.

“She just seemed to be daydreaming that’s all. Apparently my lecture is not that important to her?”

“Oh, is that so?” Shirō noted in an unsurprised tone.

“What did you expect Father? This is Nanoha we are talking about. The girl has no direction in life.”

“Well if she wishes to not be of any use as a lady in life, then let her daydream. When she finally decides to take her role seriously then she’ll pay attention.” With that callous remark he and his son left the room.

Nanoha raised her head to look at her tutor with an apologetic look. “I’m sorry sir.” She tried to keep her focus through the rest of the lesson, keeping her building feelings from breaking out. When release finally did come, she ran to her room and buried her face into the pillows on her bed. From there she sobbed into the pillows, letting her pent up frustrations out in tears. A half hour passed before she could get the courage to reach over to her purse and take out her keepsake. This time however, the photographs did not lift her spirits. “How… how” she cried as she crumpled and tore up the photo strip “how could I forget…?”

“I’mmm boooard!” Fate flailed out during her late dinner at the back ally raman shop.

Chrono looked up from his bowl and eyed his blond coworker. “Well sorry I didn’t take you to some exciting party tonight.”

“That’s not it you dimwit.” She put her face into her hands. “I want to play with my Princess.”

“You want to do what?” Chrono asked with a grin.

“Knock it off you dirty old man. What I mean is I want to see her. It’s fun being around her, even if she is so innocent.”

“Still not helping that other definition of ‘play’ here.”

“Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know.” Fate cringed at the unintended double meaning. “Wait! I do know.” She looked to the sky in thought. “Noooo, that would be so… so… I’m so doing it.”

“So doing what?”

Nanoha broke her fixation on the ceiling for a moment and looked at her clock. ‘11:30… I moped around for over seven hours…’ she sniffled as more tears came to her eyes. ‘Guess I’m not done’ Slowly she sat up in her bed and cuddled one of her pillows. ‘I should really go to sleep…’ Just then a soft tapping noise caught her attention. Sitting up she looked around her room. Again there was a tapping. ‘Where is that coming from?’ Another tap. ‘It sounds like my…’ slowly she walked to her window and pushed aside her curtains. One the other side of her window where two red eyes. Startled, she jumped back and fell on her rear. The one outside started to grin widely at Nanoha’s fright. Once her wits came about her, Nanoha quickly got to the window and opened it. “What are you doing here you, could get caught!”

“Hee hee, but it would be worth it.” The blond grinned, “So can I come it?”

“Umm, yeah…” despite the fright, her depressed mood started to resurface. As Fate climb her way into the room, Nanoha made her way to collapse face first into her bed.

“Wow!” Fate looked about the impressive room she just set foot into. “Do you like pink?” She referred to the many shades of pink that colored the walls, furniture, and bedding.

The girl ignored that statement and got to the point, still having her face in her pillows. “What are you doing here?”

“Now now don’t be so moody, I just wanted to see your pretty things.” Fate walked over to Nanoha, but realized that she didn’t find her comment all that amusing. “Really, I was board and wanted to see you.”

“Sure you did…” Nanoha still kept her face buried into her pillow even though her friend was now right next to her.

“Gee, something bugging you?”

“It’s nothing.”

“Then something is bugging you.” Fate sat down on the bed next to her friend. No response came. “Come on,” she reached for a random hair tie. “What’s going on?” she used said tie to make a short pigtail in Nanoha’s hair. “What is bugging Princess?”

This time she did get a muffled response.

“What was that Princess?”

The girl lifted her head up slightly; enough so that Fate could now get a glimpse at her reddened eyes. “I’m not a Princess.”

“Yes you are.” Fate stated in a ‘matter of fact’ tone.

“No…” Nanoha stated to sob again, “I’m not.”

Fate sat back at this statement. “You’re not a Princess?”

“No.” She laid her head back down

“How come?”

“Just… because.”

“Because why?” Fate was not going to give up on this one.

Nanoha shook her head, “You wouldn’t understand.”

The blond leaned down her head towards Princess’ “Then make me.”

“Why?”

“Because I’m your friend right? And friends listen to each other’s problems.”

Nanoha only stared into her pillow.

“I told you what was bothering me when my mother showed up… and I thought you wouldn’t understand that…”

Nanoha continued to lay in bed as Fate got back up and looked around the room. It wasn’t as lavish as she thought it would be but it was still rather up there. It was a lot cleaner that her room, that was certain, and not a single piece of clothing or clutter was to be seen until she looked closer at some ripped up paper on the floor. Carefully she picked up the objects and noticed that it was pictures. Pictures of Nanoha smiling in a photo both.

“I’m a mistake…”

Fate’s attention shifted from the photos to the girl now sitting up in the bed. “How are you a mistake?”

“I’m should not have… I was a mistake…”

The blond walked back towards the bed, “Like ‘opps honey the condom broke’ kind?”

“I umm… in a way yes and in a way… no.” Nanoha nervously replied.

Fate sat back down on the bed again. “Ok then, what made you a mistake?”

Nanoha took a deep breath. “I have two older siblings… A brother and a sister. They where my Father’s children with his first wife…”

‘ooohhh… I think I see where this is going…’

“His wife got sick with cancer however… It was really bad and they didn’t think that she was going to survive. So my father, he started to… look else where.”

“Your mother huh?”

“Yes… There was some girl that he fancied from a family that was not as well off as his was. They where… in a relationship while his wife was dieing… the day she died was the same day he found out that mother was pregnant with me… It wasn’t supposed to happen; she was just some… as you call, bed warmer. Because my father is so high in society, he couldn’t have an illegitimate child, nor could he force her to have an abortion. My mother’s only choice was to marry him…”

Fate shifted closer to Nanoha’s side as she told her this story… “So, you are upset because you’re some, excuse me, bastard child?”

“That’s what caused everything else.” The upset girl put her face into her hands. “He never saw me as his own child, just some person under his care. He had high expectations of Brother and Sister when they where growing up. He placed them in the best schools to get them on the right track for successful careers in business and corporate law. On the other hand, I was placed in school so I could be come a lady. Someone he could marry off. I am just a tool…”

“You’re not a…”

“And it’s not just him. With Brother and Sister home again, I’m being reminded how much they hate my mother, hate me. The years of teasing, being blamed for every wrong doing they do, the many times they ruined my room, stole my things, stole my food when I would be served first… they think I’m more useless than what my father thinks of me.” Nanoha collapsed back onto the bed and buried her face deep into the pillow again. “I’m not a princess; I’m just a waste of space and money.” Nanoha’s mind froze as she felt herself being pulled up. Before she knew it, she was being hugged from behind by her friend. “Fate? What are you?”

“You are a princess. You’re not useless at all.” Fate spoke softly into Nanoha’s hair

“How could you say something like that?”

“Because you are my friend, and I like you more than you can even comprehend right now. So in that case, you are not useless, because you make me happy… That’s why I jumped your fence tonight and climbed up your window.”

“Fate…” Princess only breathed out the name.

“Never think you are not important, or that your life is pointless. Stand up, God knows that you are too wonderful to be sitting alone up here crying your eyes out because of some prick of a father you have.” The grip she had around the girl got slightly tighter.

Nanoha looked down at her lap with a tear running down her cheek. ‘Why should I even be complaining, she’s had it rougher that I have. Yet, why is she saying such things to a girl like me.’ The girl found herself being tugged to stand up. “What is it?”

“We’re going out.”

“Why?”

“You’ll see”

“This is…”

“Yep! I found a torn up picture on the floor of your room.”

Nanoha looked from the photo booth to the blond. “You saw that…?”

“Yep, nice pictures of you, why did you tear them up..?”

“Because, I took them when I was so proud of myself for going out… it was stupid really…” She turned to head back to her home but felt her arm being caught.

“Let’s replace them.”

“Replace them?”

At that moment Fate shoved Princess into the photo booth, and before she could escape, started the booth up.

“Why are you doing this?”

“To make sure you have something to be proud of.”

“Snap” A picture of a startled Nanoha with Fate looking right at her.

“And to make you feel like you count. So give me a kiss!”

“Snap” A picture of Princess with red cheeks as the blond leaned in like she was going to kiss her.

“But, it’s just some silly…”

Fate looked at her dead on with caring eyes. “It’s not…”

“Snap” This photo captured Fate’s rare expression of caring for someone else.

“You need to remember that you have a friend. Even if your family doesn’t give a damn about you, I do.”

“Really?”

“Snap” Princess held her hands together as she blushed under the effect of Fate’s words.

“Really,” the blond stated as she snaked an arm around Princess. “Now smile.”

“Snap” The final photograph showed Fate with her arm around Nanoha while facing the camera. Nanoha faced the camera as well and a gentle smile is on her lips. Fate’s smile matches hers’ as it is apparent that she is leaning her head towards the shorter girl.

The girl that she just got to know who she was…

A/N: Somebody is bound to say “Where the hell did you come up with that?” Well it wasn’t hard; I just turned to the first season and Triangle Hearts. In the first season, Nanoha had doubts about her place in the family and felt disconnected from them. In triangle hearts she is the daughter of Shiro’s second wife. Put the two together, remove anything that would build her confidence (finding magic), and add a little hatred in the mix and this is the result, a broken Nanoha.

Part 3: The Things we Do.

“Ladies of the House”

Once again Fate cursed about being on her knees. She knew that gardening was part of the job, but she couldn’t figure out why Kaden couldn’t come out for this overtime job. ‘Isn’t it a ritual to have the new meat weed all the time? Oh well, I don’t mind a one man day every once and a while.’ She took some time to get up off the kneeling pad and stretch out her legs. She decided to walk around the garden’s perimeter to help out the sore legs and to inspect where else she needed to weed as a cover to why she was not working. ‘Well, almost done, I have left to do is prune that…’ a flicker of long brunette hair interrupted her. ‘hehehe…’ the blond’s lips turned up into a smile ‘looks like I can have some fun.’ The landscaper’s intent was to hug the brunette from behind as she crept around the rose bush, but as she made her way around she realized that she made a mistake in identity. The woman gently inspecting the roses was not Nanoha, but one who had very similar and a bit more mature look. As the woman traced the petals of the flowers, Fate traced out the lines of this older image of Nanoha. She had the same figure, only slightly taller. The same face, but ever so sadder. A soft smile that lost any innocence.

“Oh, I’m sorry. Am I interrupting your work?” The older woman retracted her hand.

Fate took a moment to snap to. “No, not really…” She scrambled for something to say. “Do you like those flowers?”

The woman looked back at the roses “Yes,” she said in a shy, yet more mature voice “They are quite lovely.”

“Well then,” The landscaper walked close to the bush and inspected its proportions. “Ah.” She then pruned two of the flowers from the plant. She then exchanged her pruners for her pocket knife and carefully removed the thorns from the stems. “Here,” she held out the roses. “One for you and one for the lady that is so nice to bring us water when we are here.”

The woman took the flowers into her hand. “Thank you, but you didn’t have to do this.”

“The bush needed pruning anyways, and it’s better that such pretty flowers don’t go to waste.”

The brunette smiled and took a slight whiff of the rose’s fragrance. “The lady that brings you water?”

“Yes, she looks just like you.”

“My daughter you mean, Nanoha.” She brought the flower down and gazed upon Fate again.

“She is your daughter? Well, now I know who she got her beauty from.” The blond smiled at Nanoha’s mother ‘Don’t push it Fate, don’t want them to know the landscaper wants to do –this and that- with their daughter.’

“Thank you for the complement,” The woman blushed slightly, “and I will make sure that my daughter receives this rose.”

“Oh, where are my manners. My name is Fate Testarossa.” She took off her glove and held out her hand.

“My name is Momoko Takamachi” The women reached out her hand as well and gently shook the others. “It is a pleasure to meet you Miss Testarossa.”

“No, the pleasure is all mine. Now that I know that someone like you is enjoying this garden I’ll make sure to do an extra good job at keeping it looking beautiful.”

“Oh,” Momoko brought her hand back and blushed, “Thank you. I must say that my husband made a good choice in landscapers.”

Fate bowed politely, “Thank you. I don’t hear that that often.”

“I ought to let you return to your work, Miss Testarossa.”

Fate only politely nodded as the brunette turned and walked away. ‘God damn! She’s hot!’ She turned around and looked back at her work ‘Play time over…’

The blond wiped her brow as she loaded the last of her things into the back of the truck. “And… done.”

“Excuse me, Gardener.”

‘Oh I don’t know what to be pissed off about first, the term Gardener or the bitch tone of her voice’ Fate turned around and looked at the woman dressed in business attire that was standing with her arms crossed glaring at the landscaper. “May I help you?”

“You must set up the back patio for a meeting today. We want the rot iron chairs and tables that are in storage and all the extra flower pots removed.”

‘I swear I heard this arrogant tone before.’ “I’m sorry Ma’am, I can’t do that. I’ve already gone over this with the customer; I can’t do anything without a work order or a signature approving changes to a work order. Also, you don’t hire a landscaping firm to move the kinds of things you are asking for.”

The women seemed irritated by this “You will do as I say or I will have…”

“You fired?” Fate started to drop the formality out of her own speech “Last time I checked I was an employee of Harloawn Landscaping. They are the ones I’m employed too, the ones I get my paycheck from. You are just a customer; you have no power over my employment. In fact, my boss has a thing for dropping customers that harass his workers.”

“And I see they don’t mind hiring people like you.” The women smirked while looking down at Fate’s attire.

“Please tell me, what is that suppose to mean?”

“I am saying that this ‘landscaping’ company is low enough to have someone that talks like and has the attitude of a common whore on their payroll.”

“Oh, I’m sooo sorry” Fate slammed the tailgate shut and walked to the driver’s door. “I didn’t know I was using such inappropriate language in front of such an important CCD.”

“CCD? What is that street talk for?”

Fate jumped into the trucked and closed the door. “Corporate Cum Dumpster.”

The woman yelled through the open window “You are calling me what?”

“I’m calling you a nice warm hole for all those important business men that need assistance during their rough days in the office.”

“Why you little…”

“See, all that uppity ‘I’m better than you’ bullshit runs away when you’re called out on what you really are…” Fate keyed the ignition, “I bet you fuck like a sex crazed slut.” With that she drove away, leaving the scorned woman stammering in the driveway. ‘CCD…not bad for coming up with that on the spot. I think Chrono will enjoy that one.’

“Hello there Princess” Fate leaned forward towards Nanoha, who was approaching the lamppost. “How are you this evening?”

“Oh I’m fine,” the girl dressed in a pink tee-shirt and blue jeans replied. Once caught up to Fate, they walked in the direction of the downtown district.

“Oh by the…” Both girls stopped their sentence and looked at each other embarrassed.

Nanoha giggled and conceded the conversation to the blond. “You go ahead first.”

“Well, I saw your mother yesterday.”

“That’s what I was going to talk about! Thank you for the flower.” The end of her sentence trailed off into a blush.

“No problem, anything for my Princess”

‘My Princess…’ Nanoha played with her hands at the sound of that possessive statement.

“And your Mother is really hot”

“Really hot….? You think my Mother is hot!” Nanoha stared wide-eyed at Fate.

“Yes I do.” Nanoha continued to look at her with disbelief “Now I know where you get your good looks from… and what I have to look forward to in the future.”

“Oh… that’s what you meant. Sorry…” Princess looked down at her feet while they continued their stroll.

“Were you worried about me ogling your mother?” Fate stopped in her tracks. “Don’t worry,” She leaned forwarded enough so that Princess got a good view down the top of her black tank top. “You’re the one with the looks that gets me all hot and bothered over.”

Nanoha’s blush grew deep red. “I… am that attractive to you?”

“Yep!” The blond continued walking on, motioning towards a convenience store “I even find your shyness cuter too, compared to you mom.”

“My shyness too?”

Fate pushed the door open for Nanoha. “But I think that’s because you are still corruptible.”

“Corrup…. I give up on trying to understand you…” Princess sighed out.

“Oh that’s no fun,” Fate preceded to grab various snacks for their walk, “I was going to talk all kinds of dirty smack about your bitch sister.”

“You met my sister?”

“Oh yes I did…” Fate stopped her sarcastic voice when she reached the machine she wanted, “Slurpy?”

“Ah, no thank you, and what exactly happened with meeting my sister? I remember the day you came over to fix the garden up she came inside furious over something.”

“Oh we just had a little spat.” Fate emptied her pockets and played the cashier. “She treated me like I was her personal slave and I called her what she really is.”

Nanoha took a candy bar out of their bag and opened it up “What did you call her?”

Fate gave a look at Princess that made her stop biting her Snickers bar halfway through. “I thought you said you where going to give up on trying to understand me?”

The girl finished her bite and shrugged in response.

“Well then, I called your sister a Corporate Cum Dumpster.”

Princess contemplated this for a few moments. “What’s a… cum dumpster?”

“I knew you where going to ask that.”

“Mou… Fate! I don’t know these kinds of things.”

“Alright then,” the blond explained “lets see if you can wrap you head around this. Basically a cum dumpster is a women, or man, who exists only to be a place for men to put their ejaculate in. I figure that your sister is only in her position, whatever it is, because she sucked, fucked, and was jacked off on by every single dick in the whole company. I don’t doubt that she’s been cov…”

“Ewwww….” Nanoha cringed, “That’s disgusting.”

“So you do know a few things. How do you know these things?”

“I have had basic sex education. It is just that those kinds of things are so dirty that I don’t know all that much about them. And stuff like that I am sure I did not need to know about.”

“But now you know why your sister was so angry. I called her an office slut.”

Nanoha finished her candy bar. “Did you have to go so far?”

“Yes.” Fate dank a bit of her slurpy.

“Why?”

“Because she treated you like shit and she treated me like shit.”

“That’s why you called her that?” She couldn’t grasp all of what Fate was saying.

“Yep, when someone picks on my friends I get them back. I’m kind of cool like that. Your father, brother, and sister are all douche bags as far as I’m concerned.”

The brunette pondered this a bit, “So… that’s a good thing right?”

“It’s a good thing.”

The two continued their rounds around the town Nanoha taking in the sights of the streets while Fate took in the sights of Nanoha.

“Mou…”

“What is it?”

“I am thirsty.” Princess pleaded

“Should have gotten the slurpy. Here, have some of mine.” Fate held out the container with the straw facing Nanoha.

Nanoha stared at the straw just inches from her mouth. “But you already…”

“What’s wrong? My mouth isn’t dirty is it?” She smiled as she got closer to Nanoha “You’re thirsty, take a sip.”

She look from Fate’s eyes and back to the straw with a hint of salvia on it. “Well, ok.” With a shy movement she grabbed the tube with her mouth and called the liquid forward. Fate’s smile grew deeper with the action.

“That’s it, just like that…”

“Mou…” Princess pulled back with pink cheeks “That tone of yours sounded dirty…”

“It was dirty.” Fate pulled back the cup and brought it up to her own lips. Slowly she reached for the straw with her tongue and carefully wrapped her lips around the cylinder. She sucked the remainder of the liquid into her mouth, “Mummm…. Tasty...” She let the straw go and gazed down at Nanoha. “I just shared an indirect kiss with my Princess.”

“Mou Fate…” The now bright red girl cried out.

The blond just smiled back, “Come on… let’s get you home.”

On a similar note, since it's Remembrance Day today, I wrote something with that theme. It ties in with several of my other fics that all involve Nanoha's death. There's Stages, which is about Nanoha facing her death, A Chance to Say Goodbye, which is about Fate handling Nanoha's death, and then A Shoulder to Cry On, which is a follow up of the previous. This new one is a distant sequel and takes place many years after A Shoulder to Cry On.

For the most part it's just Fate having a one sided conversation, so it might be odd stylistically. Any comments would be appreciated.

Spoiler for Life Goes On:

Fate placed a bouquet flowers in front of the large stone slab that was the Takamachi family grave. She was all by herself in the cemetery being blanketed by the shadows cast by the clouds.

“Hello, Nanoha.” Fate remained crouched in front of the grave. “It’s been a long time.”

Only the plant life was there to hear her, but she continued speaking anyways.

“I’m sorry I haven’t come to see in you a few years, but Earth is pretty far out of the way and there’s been a lot going on lately. So much has happened since you died… So much that I don’t even know where to begin to tell you about it.”

“Everyone is doing just fine, so you don’t need to worry about that. I went to see your family before coming here and the Midori-ya is as popular as ever. Your parents and sister looked like they were enjoying themselves, but I’m sure you already knew that since they come see you more often than I do.”

“Hayate’s gone and become the youngest member of the high council. She’s been pushing for some radical reforms to the system and has many people behind her. Of course Signum and the others are still her number one supporters. Vita’s still working hard at being a combat instructor too, and you’d be proud of how well she takes care of her students… Even if she bangs them up a little.” Fate let out a little laugh. “Not like you didn’t do that sometimes yourself. Teana still shudders at the memory.”

“Speaking of Teana, she’s grown into a fantastic Enforcer. She’s cracked many big cases and the name of Lanster is now one associated with respect. She sends her regards and thanks you for ‘setting her straight’ that one time. You would be proud of her too, especially that Starlight Breaker of hers.”

“Subaru has made a name for herself as well. Though she’s been offered several promotions, she’s still on the front lines of the disaster relief squad. She always rushes into the thick of things, saving many lives in the process. I believe she actually holds some kind of record now.”

“Erio and Caro enjoy a pretty peaceful life. They’re still part of the environmental squad, protecting the wildlife from the occasional poacher, but now Lutecia is with them too.” Fate laughed again. “Erio’s gotten himself into quite the predicament because of it. He’s going to have to choose one of them eventually.”

“Lindy-kaa-san, Chrono and Amy haven’t changed at all. They’re still diligent in their duties, only now they have more kids to take care of. Chrono still gets that look on his face when I call him ‘onii-chan’ too.”

“As for me, well… It was really hard at first. Getting along without you, I mean. Loosing you was the hardest thing I’ve ever experienced in my life, even harder than what happened with Precia-kaa-san. I was lost without you, and it nearly got me killed. I was really pathetic.” She scratched the back of her head in an embarrassed manner. “But don’t worry, I’m ok now. I still wish you were here, but it doesn’t hurt anymore. I’m able to look back on our time together and smile, and I can talk about you with others and we’re able to laugh together. The good times and the bad times are all fond memories now.”

When Fate brought her hand down, the Sun decided to peek around the clouds. A ray of light caught the gold band on Fate’s finger, making it sparkle.

“Oh, this?” Fate smiled. “Believe it or not, I actually got married. I think we were just licking each other wounds at first, but it’s not like that anymore. We genuinely love each other and he makes me happy,” Her smile widened into a grin. “So don’t be too mad at him, ok? He’ll be along shortly; I just went ahead while he dealt with something. Vivio is coming too and you’ll be surprised at how much she’s grown. She’s such a wonderful girl, but I’ll let her tell you herself what she’s been up to. There are two others that will be here that I’d like to introduce you to as well.”

“Fate-mama!” She heard Vivio’s voice call.

“Here they are now.” Fate stood up. “Did everything go ok?”

“Yup.” Vivio nodded. “It’s because I helped out too.”

“I could have handled it myself.” Yuuno sighed, bringing up the rear. He glanced down at the stroller he pushed. “It was just changing diapers, after all.”

Fate looked at the two infants that rested comfortably in their transport. “I hope you two didn’t cause too much trouble for your father and sister.” The twin girls only made a gurgling noise in reply.

“Let me introduce you,” Fate said, turning back to the grave. “These are my daughters, Alicia and Nanoha. Alicia, Nanoha, the person who rests here is some one very important to your mama, papa, and sister.” She thought that she saw a flicker of understanding in her children’s eyes, but they made no reaction otherwise. A warm, gentle breeze passed through at that moment, as if carrying a certain sentiment to those present.

Fate stepped back and stood by Yuuno’s side as Vivio put her own flowers on the grave and began talking.

“How are you feeling, Fate?” Yuuno asked as he put his arm around his wife. She leaned her head against him in response.

“Everything is just fine.” She said. Even though Nanoha was no longer with them, her loving smile would never be forgotten. “I am very happy right now.”

Vivio Takamachi stared.

Blinked and stared some more.

More amused by her girlfriend’s stare than annoyed or confused, Lutecia Alphine glanced up from the book she was reading and raised a brow. “Something wrong, Vivio?” She shifted slightly to better lean back against the couch; the two were in the Takamachi-Harlaown household, currently alone since Nanoha and Fate were both at work.

Vivio shifted to match her girlfriend and leaned in. “You’re wearing glasses.”

Lutecia blinked, then laughed as her girlfriend gently ran her fingers along the rims, surprised and amused by the younger girl’s fascination with her glasses. “Vi, I wear them all the time when I help you study for class.”

The younger girl pouted and settled down so her chin rested against Lutecia’s stomach, her arms loosely wrapped around the older woman’s waist. “You always make me focus on the book when we’re studying, so I never noticed before.”

“Because if I didn’t you’d spend the whole time staring at me.” Lutecia tapped Vivio lightly on the nose. “It’s bad enough your mother thinks I’m going to corrupt your youthful innocence. I’d be on the receiving end of a Starlight Breaker if I caused your grades to drop, too.”

“But I like looking at you, Cia. You’re prettier than the book.”

Lutecia laughed again. “I’d hope so, otherwise I’d have no self-esteem.” Realizing she wasn’t going to get anymore reading done until Vivio had gotten this out of her system, the purple-haired summoner closed her book and rested it on the table nearby. “I don’t see what’s so fascinating about seeing me wear glasses.”

Vivio shrugged and sat up, lifting a hand to play with Lutecia’s glasses again. They weren’t big or bulky like what she sometimes saw in comic books or manga, for humorous purposes; Lutecia’s glasses were sleek and slim, and fit her perfectly. Vivio couldn’t deny it if she tried; Lutecia was an attractive woman, and somehow seeing her wear glasses just added to the image she already had. “Hey, Cia, can I try something?”

“What kind of something?”

Vivio smirked. “The kind of something that might really, really make Nanoha-mama super protective if she walks in right now.”

Lutecia raised a brow; her lips twitched. “I’ll take that risk.”

Delighted, Vivio laughed. “Close your eyes,” she murmured, and with a slight smirk Lutecia obeyed, wondering just what it was her girlfriend had in mind. She felt Vivio’s hand gently brush her cheek, pushing her glasses up into her hair.

Then, she felt Vivio kiss her.

It was soft, gentle contact, which surprised Lutecia a little; Vivio tended to be much more forward and aggressive when it came to this aspect of their relationship, but right now she almost seemed shy. It only lasted a few seconds before Vivio pulled away, and a few more seconds passed before her confidence seemed to grow and she leaned in again, one hand going to the back of Lutecia’s neck while the other rested on her shoulder.

The second kiss was more of Vivio’s style, still gentle but a little more demanding, a little deeper, requesting just a little more from Lutecia. While the summoner was still confused as to what had brought this on, she didn’t complain and met Vivio’s request for more with what she was willing to give, sighing quietly as Vivio pressed closer and lazily explored her mouth with her tongue.

After a moment or two, Vivio pulled away, inhaling deeply and blushing as she settled back in her original spot; for the kiss, she’d almost been straddling Lutecia. Opening her eyes, Lutecia blinked several times. Her brain still hazy, she blinked before lifting a hand, pulling the glasses out of her hair. “What was that for?” she asked softly.

Vivio grinned and shrugged, crawling back to her original position; cheek against Lutecia’s stomach, arms around her waist. “I don’t know, just felt like it. I wanted to try something out that I saw in a movie once.”

“Ah…” Lutecia nodded slowly, absently bringing up a hand to stroke Vivio’s hair, making the younger girl sigh in contentment and snuggle. “Vivio…”

“Hmm?”

“What kind of movie were you watching?”

Vivio just laughed.

1. Again, pre-Shadow and Sunrise, so they're just having fun and hanging out together here. D'awwww, they were so sweet and happy together before all the angst came.

2. UST? What UST? I don't see any UST... *shot*

3. Inspired by a comment Dezo jokingly made to me once (I forgot about what) as to how Vivio would react if she ever saw Lutecia wearing glasses. Remember how Lutecia' fandom nickname is "Loli-Rider", then remember how Rider wore those glasses.

4. Based off a common scene I often see in movies and in manga, where when a character is wearing glasses and kissed, the character's glasses are either removed completely or pushed up into their hair. I honestly don't know why it's done... maybe it's harder to kiss a person with glasses because they press into your eyes or something? Ah, well.

Oh okey, I went for being all depressed (blame Raiser ) to being all Yay!

Meh, I wondered that for a while too, and yes, kissing someone who uses glasses its a little unconfortable sometimes. They get in the way and its like: Ah damn! x_o

“Okay, now just lay back, relax and tell me what's on your mind,” the psychologist told her.

Nanoha took a few deep breaths as she lay on the couch. “Well, I'm scared, I guess.”

“Scared of what?” the doctor asked.

“Hurting people, mostly, but also of myself,” Nanoha explained. “I knew I was different for a long while, but I held myself back. I... had feelings for my best friend, Fate. But two women loving each other isn't supposed to be strange in this day and age, right?”

The doctor smiled, bemused. “As long as it's consensual, almost any kind of relationship is fine. You seem worried about what people may think, but would your friends really think of you differently.”

Nanoha sighed. “I think so. I mean, that's also part of the problem, because Yuuno also has feelings for me.”

“And what do you think of him?”

“He's kind, brave, and cute...” she paused, realizing what she was saying. “Yes, I have feelings for him, too!”

“So you are afraid of hurting others by going with one or the other, and you want them both,” the psychologist concluded.

“Yeah,” she admitted. “I've kinda ignored the whole issue for a long time now, but I gather people might be getting upset. Plus there's also the problem with Subaru.”

“How do car problems fit into this?” the doctor asked, surprised.

“Oh, sorry, that's the name of someone else,” Nanoha explained. “She's a few years younger, and has developed a crush on me. Although she also likes a friend of hers.”

The doctor scribbled on his pad. “I see...”

“And there's Arisa, who I think has liked me since we were kids, and last week I caught Suzuka staring at me in the changing room and drooling,” Nanoha despaired, beginning to break down. “And what's more, Vice keeps asking me out, Chrono and Amy have suggested I 'join them' sometime, Lindy keeps asking me over while wearing nothing but lingerie, Genya keeps hinting to me that he wants to remarry, and Hayate keeps grabbing my chest AND I LIKE IT!”

Nanoha dissolved into tears.

“Hmm, I can see how that can be tough,” the psychologist admitted.

“So I'm crazy, right doctor?” the emotionally-fraught girl asked, sobbing. “And if I pick the wrong one, I just know someone is going to hate me!”

“Actually, I think you're quite sane,” he told her. “And I may just have a solution for you.”

Nanoha dried her eyes, looking up as he handed her a business card. “Yes, it's actually worked out decently for me, too. I wrote a paper about it in the Journal of Psychology, naming it after myself. And what's more, my family owns a shrine that you can use, too.”

Nanoha furrowed her brow in confusion as she read the business card of Dr. Tenchi Masaki...



All were agreed it was a lovely ceremony and that Nanoha looked positively lovely in her wedding gown. There was much joy in the air.

“And do you, um, well, do you take the bride to be your lawfully wedded spouse, to have and to hold, for richer or poorer, in sickness and in health, for as long as you, um, shall live?”

For the people who don't know, Richgirl!Nanoha is an "official" spin off of Landscaper!Fate. Since JunkedCat focuses mainly on Fate, I asked if it would be okay to do a "fic of a fic" based on his time line, showing Nanoha's first person POV. He agreed and Richgirl!Nanoha was born. At first it was just a tribute to his story (as to this day it remains my favorite Nanoha story of all time), but after a while we started having long talks about the story and stuff, then we bounced off each others stories to make one fic that spanned over two writers and each focusing mainly on one of the two girls. However, due to complications with a reader not reading L!F, I took RG!N down from FF.N because I didn't want it to be a stand alone fic. It was a tribute and side-story, not a stand alone read. Although Junkedcat told me it was fine to keep doing it and leave it up, I just didn't feel right about it. Instead I asked him if it would be okay if I just made it an animesuki exclusive story, and he said that'd be fine.

So, in case you missed it. The time line/universe/main plot/character personality/ect were made by JunkedCat. Richgirl!Nanoha is merely a side story that "enhances" his fic by seeing Nanoha's first person POV.

I leaned against the gates leading into the library and passed the time by reading a small book I had stashed in my purse. Truthfully, the words weren't really sinking in as I was too excited about my day. I had several things stashed in my purse that I had sneaked from my house and I felt a strange sense of accomplishment from the act. Granted, I carried around a large purse normally -because it was fashion- but it being full did earn me a glance from my driver.

I've known my driver for a long, long time now. I never went anywhere without company, but each time he did take me someplace, I was always sure to bow and thank him properly. He once insisted that it was his job to wait for me, but I felt so bad for him waiting for me that I commanded him to go do something until I was ready to leave the library. Ever since then, he has always been really nice to me and didn't think twice when I told him to go have fun while I was at the library today. Besides, Suzuka was supposed to pick me up here and he didn't have any reason to stay with me until then anyway.

I grinned to myself, pride swelling in my chest at the stunt I had pulled. I was staying over at Suzuka's place tonight, but she was going to pick me up tonight, not this morning. I knew Fate had today off and, only asking once, I had her agree to let me stay with her for a while. She called it a date, of course, but I was looking forward to doing something I had wanted to since the first time I saw her house: clean it.

I heard a loud truck approaching and I recognized it as Chrono's landscaping vehical. As I closed my book I saw the truck park and Fate hop out of it. Her hair flew out behind her as the wind blew and she reached up with an annoyed hand to make it move from her face. She was dressed as normal, a casual Tee paired with jeans, but I liked that about her. She dressed how she wanted to and didn't care what anyone said to her about it. Currently her black shirt had bright pink glitter on it making the shape of an eye, a heart, and a kitty-cat on it.

Fate draped an arm around my shoulders as soon as she got to me, grinning in her own special way. "Hay there, Princess."

"Hello, Fate, thank you for coming to pick me up."

"Don't mention it. I'm surprised you did this anyway, where did you of all people learn how to trick your parents?"

"I read it in a book, a girl snuck out to a party like this."

"I see." Fate opened the door for them and climbed in. "Scoot over, we need room."

"I can't anymore," Fate's co-worker complained.

Chrono looked over at the girls. "Sorry, I have to be able to shift, you'll have to sit in her lap."

Fate's eyes suddenly lit up as she looked down at me. "Can't help it then, come on Princess."

"Uhm..."I felt my cheeks blush but they already went out of there way for me so I didn't complain. I allowed Fate to help me into the vehicle and I sat on her lap. After a small wiggle, Fate closed the door and wrapped her arms around my waist. "Am I too heavy?" I asked shyly, looking back at her.

"Not at all, besides, I like girls in my lap. Makes me wish I had a double-"

"Fate," Chrono spoke in a warning tone. "Not in my truck, it'll give me bad memories every time I get in it."

"And give me good ones," Fate shot back. "You'd like it wouldn't you, Princess?"

I blinked before nodding. "Yes, I'd like that." Fate having good memories in her truck would be a good thing, even if I didn't understand what Fate had wanted with her right now.

Chrono looked at me in shock. "Wow, you weren't kidding, she's a clueless as a baby in a strip club."

I blushed hard, instantly realizing that I obviously missed one of Fate's trademark lines. "Isn't she?" My friend asked from behind me, playing with the hem of my shirt. "She's the cutest little thing you'll ever meet; I can't wait to corrupt her."

I felt my face heat up more as everyone in the truck laughed, but thankfully the subject turned from me and to the work that they had completed. I stayed silent for most of the trip, not able to really get in on what they were talking about. Instead, I looked down at my lap, curiously watching Fate's fingers twirl the bottom of my shirt around them, only to let them unwind and do it again.

Reaching down, I touched Fate's hand and she instantly turned her palm face up and opened it. I tilted my hand and placed mine on hers, wondering if they were the same size or not. To my surprise, Fate interlaced our fingers and held my hand. I felt my breath catch in my throat, but for some reason I didn't feel the need to scratch my cheek and brush the hair from my face in an excuse to move my hand from hers. Instead, I simply allowed her to keep it, being calmed by her thumb rubbing my palm.

After a few moments of silence in the truck, combated by the radio, I felt Fate's other hand sneak in my shirt and trace my stomach with a finger. I went stiff at once, and looked back at her with fear in my eyes. "Too much?" She whispered to me, her hand pausing. "I'll stop."

"Not in front of people, its embarrassing," I whispered back, my words stuttering.

"So I can later?" Fate looked very pleased as she moved her hand and smoothed out my shirt. I couldn't find it in my heart to tell her no so I simply turned to look at the road again. By now the buildings were looking familiar and I could actually point out Fate's apartment before we made it there.

Quick goodbyes were given and I thanked the boy once more with a bow before Fate looped her arm through mine and almost dragged me to her room. "So," she spoke once we were inside her apartment. "What do you want to do?"

"Actually," I placed my purse on her kitchen table and unzipped it, taking out some cleaning supplies. "I want to clean you apartment."

"What for?" Fate looked around. Granted her place was rather well kept, but it was obvious her extent of cleaning didn't include pricey chemicals.

"I just want to. A little thank you for everything... besides, I like cleaning."

"Weirdo. Well, I won't stop you... buuuut." Fate leaned back on the couch and grinned at me with a cat-like smile. "If you really want to thank me... you could do it topless."

"E-Eh!?" I almost fell back at the request.

"Come on, it would be nice for me to watch."

"T-topless?" I shook my head quickly. "I-I couldn't..."

"Aw... well in that case, do you have maids at your place?"

"Yes?" I felt relieved my shirt was going to stay on.

"Could you nick one of their uniforms next time you want to clean? I wouldn't mind seeing you in a maid outfit."

"...Fate, that's so weird."

"Hey, I'm weird." She grinned. "Doesn't change the fact I want to see you in it." I caught her teasing tone and smiled at her, sticking out my tongue.

I started cleaning her living room first, holding simple conversation with her as I straightened up her magazines- which I noticed were pornographic. I dusted everything and showed her the thick black clunks of dirt that came off her table after only one pass. The idea made her shiver and I found it cute that she suddenly decided to take a shower. "Anywhere you don't want me to clean?" I asked polity before she left me.

"Nope, help yourself. Just don't be surprised if you find things." She winked and went into her bedroom. "Look anywhere you want, it'll be fun!"

Pondering what she meant, I started cleaning once more. True, I wanted to get the 'thrill' of hiding things in my room as well, but I didn't want anyone to find the things I hid... even if I only managed to hide candy so far.

After the shower had been on for quite a while, I declared the living room done and went to Fate's bedroom. I picked up the dirty clothes on the floor and smiled at the simple underclothes she wore. After a few dirty shirts I found more underwear, only this time I felt my cheeks color once more at the...erotic... design and nature of them. 'I don't think I want to know why she has these...' I mused while placing them all together.

I looked at Fate's desk and picked up another magazine, almost dropping it when I noticed that the girls on it were all topless posing by sports cars, motorcycles, and to my amusement, tractors. 'She really does like girls...' I pondered this while reflecting back on how she smiled at me while telling me to look wherever I wanted to.

Curiosity was always strong with me, so with this permission, I opened Fate's top drawer. I was greeted with random clutter, to which I poked around in hopes of finding out more about the girl. I found a single bottle of dried out nail polish that was over half full as well as hair clips and ties. Several batteries were scattered around the drawer along with what looked like old TV remotes, CDs, and objects that I could only assume were things she had in her pocket when changing clothes one night.

The second drawer was opened and I found socks and pantyhose. I giggled when I saw that her socks were not matched together and I moved them all to the front so I could fix that for her. Near the middle of the drawer I felt something hard and plastic brush my hand and I gripped the object to see what it was, dropping it immediately after. The simple black thing buzzed lightly on the socks, having been turned on when I dropped it. 'Its a...a...' I couldn't even think the word without spazzing out and I stared at it for a long time before slowly reaching forward to turn it off. Despite my fears, I couldn't help myself from holding it, gazing in wonder at what it was and the fact I was actually holding it.

'Fate really does have one...' I marveled at it. 'She wanted me to find it, I know she did... She always teased me about having one but I never thought she would actually... Well...' I felt my blush start to leave as I inspected it, noticing yellow lightning bolts all over the toy. 'how cute... She really does like things like this...' Replacing the toy, I closed her drawer and realized the shower cut off. 'I wouldn't mind hiding one of those in my room... even if I never use it... something that would make me confident that I could stand on my own... But I could never buy one...' I looked down a moment before thinking back to Fate. 'she would take me...I know she would. All I'd have to do is ask and she would do anything for me...'

I looked in the mirror at myself. 'She would do anything for me without thinking twice...because she's my friend... Maybe I should too...' I gripped the bottom of my shirt. 'Because she's my friend, because I can trust her not to go too far...' I slowly raised my shirt, showing my toned stomach and pink bra. 'She would really like this....' I hooked my fingers under my bra as well to keep it with my shirt, pulling the clothing up over my breasts and feeling them jiggle as they were freed. 'If it will make her happy... I don't mind...'

The bathroom door opened and out of instinct I ripped my shirt down, holding it at my waist and almost having a panic attack. "Hay," Fate greeted, making me turn to look at her in nothing but a towel. She hadn't even bothered to attempt to dry herself off and was looking at me with great amusement. "Are you hungry?"

"Wha..what?"

"Hungry? I can make us something."

"Oh! Oh... yes, please." I smiled at her and she smiled back, strutting by me and running a finger along my back as she passed.

I swallowed and watched her leave before looking back in the mirror, feeling a true smile coming to my lips as well. 'Maybe next time, Fate...' I felt very happy now, and I turned to follow Fate into the kitchen, a light skip in my step.
