Your typical LN anime adaptation can't even animate the first 3 volumes without cutting corner HARD. So yeah, the LN shouldn't get an anime adaptation or else it will get butchered hard to the point it will be unrecognized.

It is possible to adapt the first 4 volumes to be made into an anime. 13 episodes would be enough. The first volume can be cut up to fit 2 episodes (maybe extended couple minutes extra for the episodes).

they took the manga in an interesting direction. from the looks of it they chose to skim over the church part and skipped (at least for now) the house buying part entirely. I guess they wanted to get into the meat of things first

I recall it being explicitly stated that she likes to dress like a stage magician though and even uses her magic to make it so that normal people don't think she's a weirdo for dressing like that in public.

I can't say I'm disappointed, though I did expect her to have a more mischievous/deadpan look to her face. like, the girl we got in the cover looks like a puppy compared to the one I imagined that would fling suimei around like a rag

Yeah. When I heard someone said that Hydemary looks like a "doll", I am expecting a kuudere or deadpan type girl, but instead, we got someone that looks extremely genki and happy.
