It's excellent. The ecchi has been tamed down considerably, but in such a way that I don't notice it. No stupid rays of light or fog. They are also very faithful to the source material, almost panel for panel. Well worth it. Even the OP and ED are great.

Wrong thread to put it in Kasim. This is the manga thread, and there is an anime thread for this series. As long as you don't spoil anything for the animé only viewers, you can post there without worry. Back on topic, what could Mero's mom's plan actually be?

A nice amount of post of many anime threads (including a few post of Monster Musume anime thread) got nuked even if you're talking about the current episode and some differences/cuts from the main source, so your post is the only thing out of place.

If we need to make a comparison with the manga obviously this thread is the appropriate one. Mods and rules are very strict about that, as example go and check GATE threads and how more than 10 post have the same treatment each week.

Back on topic.

The adaptation is doing a good job, not perfect. There is a few things I dislike, for example the change on Suu's scene when she was hiding from the rain and Darling go out to bring her home but at least the main idea was well executed. I'm not into Mero even if I find her cute and a nice girl but the main development for her is placed right after the end of the date between Miia and Darling, the studio cut that VERY IMPORTANT part and for me that was the worst thing they could do.

@MAX, there are some hints about the next chapter --- coming on september 19th, I can get the translation the same day thanks to TF --- her mother tries to prove if Darling is worthy for Mero, like some kind of test since her husband runs away and left her alone (TRAGIC!!!!).

Okay then I'll check it out when I have time. For now though I had this thought. The series Boku no Hero Academia (or My Hero Academia) has a popular character who has frog-like powers and appearance. Could Okayado create a frog girl that could compete with that character? (I also wonder if he would create a jen-ken situation with said frog girl, Miia, and Suu (who takes the place of the slug))

A little summary of chapter 37 provided by Anon.

Spoiler for Chapter 37:

The gang makes their way to the royal castle. Rachnee and Oct threaten to kill the fish butlers if they're discovered. Mero demands to meet her mother to ask her to stop slandering Oct. In return, her mother asks "You still don't understand my plan? You and that man, come here alone". Miia and Centorea object.

Darling and Mero are ejected into the water by a platform, and emerge in the queen's chamber. Mero's mother said they don't understand her plan. She confesses that getting as as many mermaids, etc. to get caught up in these rumors, and have bad experiences, with her ultimate goal...the termination of the Interspecies Exchange Program. But why...?

Why, for tragic love, of course! The Queen has had a human boyfriend herself for a while, and terminating the program would be the ultimate tragedy! Disappointed, the Queen laments that Mero has been contaminated by her time with humans, and no longer wants tragic love. And so (takes out iPad of death, floods the chamber.) Darling drowns as Mero's mom gloats, asking her if she want's a tragic love. Mero swears she'll do anything her mother asks, so long as she saves Dear Sir.

Queen mom agrees, wondering why Mero has such a human point of view, as Mero agrees to return home immediately. Queen mom is confused by the iPad of Death, and blows the ceiling rather than drain the water. Whoops, but half-dead Dear Sir shields Mero from the debris, getting his leg stuck (still under water.) Queen mom panics, mashes buttons, and unleashes piranhas, an intensely strong water flow, and spikes, which destroy the iPad of Death. As Queen mom objects, Mero seizes the royal scepter, and uses it to try and free Dear Sir. Mero screams her objections, saying that tragic love and the story of The Little Mermaid have nothing to do with what she wants, she just wants to be loved and happy.

Mero struggles to free Dear Sir, but the water flow tears her tail fin apart. Queen mom orders her to stop, say she can't swim against that stream in her condition. Facing being swept into the spikes, Mero keeps working, even if it means her death. Miia helps to free Darling from the rocks.

Darling's out cold. Mero's too beat up to swim him to safety, but it looks bad, and so, as the Queen mom screams "No! You can't!", Mero...well, see a transfer of air as you wish, and the first kiss of Darling (it counts). Miia wrenches the scepter, frees Darling, and drags him to safety. On land, a panicky Oct explains that Mero must have transferred air from her swim bladder to Darling, but doing so means she can no longer float, and if she also can't swim because of her busted tail fin...

Mero sinks into the darkness, towards the spikes. She knows she's done for, but "As long as Dear Sir is safe, then..."Well, I guess this is okay. In the end , us mermaids really do like tragic love. But... But I really..." into darkness...

...

Until there's a thread! Yes, Rachnera might not be able to spin webs of any size under water, but Honey can always use the thread that was still wrapped around him to save Mero. The Queen looks on in shame, as Miia says it just got really heavy. and everyone has to help pull her up before she freezes to death and everyone dies.

Later, the queen stands with Oct and explains the misunderstandings she caused, encourages inter-species romance, and reveals her own human boyfriend. Centorea reads all this in the newspaper with Rachnera in the background, as Centorea stresses out over the air transfer, saying, "That doesn't count, right? RIGHT?!" Rachnera tries to comfort her, saying it probably doesn't count as his first, but that she doesn't really know. They worry about Mero's injuries, but she'll apparently heal with rest. However, her side chick fantasies are worse then ever, as she begs Miia to become Darling's lover, and everyone laments that that part of her personality is uncured.

It was a good chapter, though particularly "heavy" given the normally light comedic tone of the series. I was mostly amused by the medical marvel that Darling has become that doctors are questioning if he's become the main character of Unbreakable movie. Once that was over with, the decidedly darker moment really just kinda made me feel... bad.

but well dullahans are all about death so if anything made Lala a dullahan show a smile is ok...besides that girl at the end was happy so not so bad or heavy

author made a good move to show that life is not always a fluffy unicorn dancing on rainbow...and there is the sad side too that might turn to good one with good intentions.

Spoiler for ,,,: Anyway its interesting to see that Lala is getting many advises from darling...well the method at the end was heavy xD "KO him" and talk at the river becouse she might have felt its emberessing or didnt want others in the room hear the talk.
