Crayon Shin-chan's Creator Yoshito Usui Confirmed Dead

Go here for more information.

This is a very sad news, I grew up watching Crayon Shin-chan and I'm sure many people around the world enjoyed it too. The manga (which is still on-going) will probably be dropped to unless somebody else takes over it, the future for the anime is also unclear.

Something to note.
The picture that most news used is conformed by the baidu's guy, which the real Mr.Usui should be younger:

not an accident? Did his work warn of issues?

http://www.japantoday.com/category/s...inchan-creator

Regrettably, the implication here is it might be suicide.

It also says: "Fellow writer Sumishi Alan comments that the comedic nature of Usui’s manga had changed since 2007, incorporating more serious themes such as terrorism, alcoholism and death wishes. Referring to some Crayon Shin-can episodes, Alan says he felt Usui was under emotional stress."

For those who've read the manga and watched the episodes, can you comment if you feel the themes became 'darker' over time? Can you give specific examples where you think they might show the author had issues?

I haven't following the anime episodes or manga chapters in Japan, but I did read somewhere that there was a recent storyline where Shin-chan thought he had three days to live. Could this count as a possible hint to suicice?

If there was a plot where CSC had 3 days to live, then yes this might definitely imply something is unwell.

Otherwise I suppose I ought to read the source material more accurately: the article was saying that the plots delved into "terrorism, alcoholism and death wishes" as signs things weren't right.

Poor guy. He has my sympathy.

I have CSC volume 1 lying right by me. I was really sad to hear about this.
But judging by the reports he didn't commit suicide, it was an accident. He wouldn't have been taking pictures if he was just there to kill himself, unless he got to the edge of the cliff and thought "Ah, what the heck!"
