I know I'm WAY behind on the current chapters, but I just read chapters 503 and 504, and I have to admit, I cried. Very emotional. I didn't expect that at all.
One of the many reasons I can't stop reading this manga. I'm losing sleep over marathon-ing it.

What will be the ending of this manga...Hajime no EMO? lol
Srsly...The interview Ippo was only worried about the brawl type fighting he did? Come on now betrayed his training? He won by luck? He really must have gotten hit too much in the head. Ippo is still too much of a sheep than a tiger, wolf or a monster to be a boxer. So Kamogawa is "Seeding" Ippo for the world stage. lol

Well, it took me about 3 days, but I finally caught up on the manga.
I have to agree with Coach Kamogawa, though, as it was kind of a stupid thing for Ippo to fight like he did. Throwing heavy punches gets your dander up, sure, but he essentially threw away the past 6 years of his training in a matter of seconds in the ring. In fact, if he had been paying proper attention, he probably could have dodged that counter, despite Miyata's conviction that he couldn't. After all, we've seen Ippo dodge right uppercuts/smashes and chopping lefts before, even while he's down low and in the opponent's face using his greater dashing and ducking speeds (supplemented by his low profile). The match was almost as bad (in a stupidly reckless way) as Itagaki's, in my opinion. He got all cocky and assumed he couldn't be downed. He basically won a brawl through luck. If he had gotten hit by a counter from someone using their dominant hand, he would have been out like a light. As it was, Kojima was using his non-dominant hand and almost knocked Ippo unconscious. Any other in-fighter (or especially a boxer) probably would have scored a devastating down in the same situation. So yeah, personally I think Ippo got lucky that he was facing someone who couldn't use their dominant hand when he wasn't at his best state; that is, a relaxed and focused state where he keeps his guard up and utilizes his training. His Peek-a-boo style is designed to cover his chin. In that spectacle against Kojima, he had no guard whatsoever. If he had been fighting Miyata or Sawamura so recklessly in the same situation, he would have lost before the match had even begun, for sure.

Takamura.
He Only Does Everything. ( Noteworthy ) And it's becoming especially true for the longest times. The best advices, the in-match pickups, the striking comments and the moral pushes... everything of any worth came from him.
