Too, they're completely different beasts (although they share the same genre). It's like comparing two different breeds of dogs, but dog-lovers will love them both all the same.

There's a new patch out on TLwiki for the original Little Busters! which adds word wrap and extra PSP voices.

Attention everyone! The translators of each of Key's works into English are banding together with the fans to send a big letter to Key in order to commemorate their 15th Anniversary! You can support the project by provoding a letter to Key, art, or help partipate in a video I'm making for the project! For more details, you can check out http://key15th.com/

exactly 21 days ago I posted here wondering if I should read Little Busters, and I just finished Refrain...

holy crap it was good, I loved it. the story was great, very touching T_T
thank you all for convincing me to read it! can't wait for the anime, hope it lives up to my expectation, not sure how they are planning on doing it since LB takes an unique way in storytelling that I've never seen before.

I do have a few questions too:

1. When Riki visited Komari's brother's grave, he mentioned seeing a person resembling Kengo, who is this person? In the common route Kengo jumped off a building saving a girl, and then later her picture was the cause of Kengo missing the hit during his baseball challenge. Did this girl die? Was it her grave Kengo was visiting?

2. What's "tego"? Mio said it to Kud during the bravery challenge at night.

3. In Kud's route, Riki was holding onto some metal gears. Did these come from somewhere? Or are they just a symbol of the gears turning the world.

4. After completing Refrain the true end to Kurugaya's route is revealed (she confesses to Riki). Why was this true end locked before the completion of Refrain? What the reasoning behind this?

I used this guide while playing through LB, in the end I still dont have most of the CGs unlocked (56%, the second half of page 4 and page 5 are completely blank, with a few missing in other pages as well). Are they in the EX part of the game? And there is nothing under the Scenes tab either.
EDIT: from what I read on their Wiki, it seems to be it. A lot of the additional scenes from EX got removed from the LB routes.

Anyway, think I'll start reading the EX portion soon. Thanks for your inputs!

EDIT: nvm EX is not translated yet, derp.

Unhappy HELP! and hello :)

So I have probably spent 4 or 5 solid days reading every bit of this VN i could.. However, i have a few questions....
1st... TLwiki even comes out and said "hey most of the EX content has been script voided because it was causing problems with the english patch" which.. ok i can accept for the time being because they did say they were working on fixing that and releasing the EX content.. Call me weird or w/e but i have a thing for kurugaya and i want to see the CG of her nude.. Needless to say the internet let me down and i can't find it anywhere...
2. Through the TLwiki walkthrough of the game, i discovered the only way to access the 3 new heroines was by clicking "yes" to knowing the secrets of the world when i VERY FIRST opened up the game... well unfortunately i clicked no.... Is there any possible way i can revert (backing up my saves if at all possible) and reset the game in such a way i can get to access the 3 extra heroines?
3. APPARENTLY there is some kind of gallery where i can listen to the music, see all the CG's, and something about scenes of the hentai variety (also apparently locked do to the patch) and this sparked even more questions in my head... Are their full on videos related to the H-scenes, or is it simply a sexy CG? either is fine with me I would just like to know... but for any of that to even matter.. how in the frozen hell's do i access said gallery? I have searched all of the obvious menu's and have found nothing... again sorry for the massive read here but from one Little Buster's fan to several others.. any help is much appreciated.. - Morzhul

It's never really explained who that person is. There's a theory I've heard that it was Kengo keeping an eye on Riki but as far as I know it's never really explained.

As for the girl Kengo saves...well sadly in the real world (before the bus crash) she really did commit suicide and Kengo was unable save her, which is something that truly affected him making it easy to use against him in the baseball game.

I have no idea sorry. But it's Mio to Kud...it can't be all that important xD

The most accepted theory is that in the real world Kud's parents really did die but before the school trip and Kud didn't go to her country. That piece of metal is her mother's dog-tags melded into cogs, possibly done during her death.
Kud regrets not going to her mother, thus the events that unfold in the dream world.

It's never really explained why they did it...but it's most likely due to Kurugaya's awareness of the dream world. Basically, only the 3 stooges are aware that they are in a dream world through the story but Kurugaya, being the badass that she is, not only realized that the world wasn't real but also managed to control it somewhat (but ended up making it more unstable). But it is Kurugaya's route that drops the biggest hints that the world Riki is in isn't real, and the ending works somewhat more of an exposition ending than a really good ending for Kurugaya (if you notice, every other girl except Rin and Kurugaya get a truly happy ending in their routes). Not only that but Kurugaya wanted to meet Riki again and confess to him in the real world during her route, being the awesome character that she is and aware of what is going on she finally managed to realize that wish once they survived the bus crash (after refrain) IN the real, real world...not the fake real world from her ending.

Sorry...you either clear the VN all over again or reinstall the VN and actually pick "yes".

I have EX, I haven't really bothered installing it (I've used the original and still will until EX is fully translated) but I'm guessing you can't get the gallery because the patch pretty much turns EX into the original game and since there's HCG in the CG gallery so it probably removes it. And in every eroge there's a scene gallery that allows people to see the H-scenes...again because of the patch it probably hides it as well.

Alternatively, you can go to the directory where the LB! is installed and rename your SAVEDATA as SAVEDATA2 or backup or whatever you'd like. Start LB! and you should get the "Do you know the secrets of the world" page [x If you want to go back to your original save, rename the new SAVEDATA as something else and rename the original SAVEDATA that you had back to SAVEDATA.

I do this to see the
Spoiler for spoiler for title screen:
in the main screen ahahaha

Holy cow!!!

Thanks a ton Randrak!!!!

And dizzyworld, i tried moving the savefolder entirely and i still cant get the game to reset, but maybe i'm just missing something...

Is the "secrets of the world" screen supposed to come upon upon first running the game? or is it partway into the story after beginning a new game?

You should get it right at the start when you first open the game, before you get to the main menu.

I tried renaming the savedata folder... moving it... everything..'sigh' nothing works.. guess we're going to commando through it and just finish the game. it's still sad that Key still feels the need to censor everything Japanese people can get off to tentacles but can't stand the sight of a vagina... makes no sense to me but w/e.

Even tentacle porn is censored.
The law is the law, not much Key can do about it.

not sure but maybe there has to be an empty folder. So try to copy and paste the save folder, go to the original and delete everything inside. I tried that and it worked.

and the other day I was thinking about some theories I've read. People said that in the very end in the real world, Riki actually creates another fake world by himself and in that fake world he creates everyone survives the bus crash. what do you guys feel about this theory? it's quite sad tbh.

as for the EX CGs, do they contain spoilers? we are still waiting for the EX version to be translated and I don't want it to be spoiled by looking at the gallery.

It's all well and good to theorize, and that keeps the fan reaction healthy. But as it is a Key game, I state the obvious in repeating that it's almost never in their interest to fully explain what goes on, they imply it or make it vague enough so that the readers will determine it themselves.

very true... and if you think about it... it ends almost exactly like clannad did.. where at the end a wish is made and everyone is suddenly OK.... and just like i did in Clannad... im going to assume that the ending is a happy one.

'Twouldn't be Key if it couldn't imply both a good and a bad ending at the same time. (See: AIR, this game, Angel Beats! ending, Clannad to an extent, Rewrite)

I've seen all of them save AIR. only seen the first 3 of AIR... and clannad wasn't so much of an ending it was Clannad: After Story, that truly left you speachless. nonetheless, All of those Anime's you listed have a spot on my favorites list

Also, I was really only referring to the game versions, since I haven't seen the anime version of AIR, and for Angel Beats! it's self-explanatory.

how did you log your time? With a separate software?

CLANNAD SPOILERS BELOW

yeah well, I guess LB is very similar to Clannad in many ways. First play through is a bad end then you have to go back and help out the other heroines then eventually you will be given some sort of miracle to save the main heroine and live happily ever after. The concept of LB is truly touching, it focuses on the importance of friendship vs. Clannad's focus on family.

As for the ending, I just skimmed the ending again to confirm something ...
so, in the real world, the bus crashes, Rin and Riki get saved, at that very moment, time freezes, the three people who saved Rin and Riki realized that they will not be mentally strong enough to carry on without them, so they created a fake world to make them stronger. At the end, when Rin and Riki runs out of the school gate, they wake up in the real world and escapes just as the bus exploded. Rin and Riki survives, and in the hospital, together, they created another world to make Rin stronger. and in this world, they saved their friends.
Wat.
If time reversing is not possible, then this means that they are still living in this fake world they created where everyone survive. I know that in Clannad they did something similar but in that series they actually hinted many times that there is an alternative universe and those magical orbs. In one timeline Nagisa dies, but due to Tomoya's sheer will, he travels to an alternative universe/back in time to collect the magic orbs, and eventually saving Nagisa from her fated death. But still pertaining some memory of the first universe. Going back in time is justified in the common routes in LB because that world is fake, therefore possible, but they actually also supposingly traveled back in time in the real world too, which is impossible in this series.

ok these are just some personal thoughts, maybe I messed up somewhere, what are your thoughts?

This may sound trippy, but there is an ending AFTER refrain in which riki saves everyone.. and you're right. the same way Clannad performed their miracle, LB performed theirs.. only instead of orbs, they used Komari's magic hairband to make a wish. and agin, like Balzac said, it simply wouldn't be Key if they could not imply both a good and bad ending simultaneously. It all comes down to what you WANT to think... just because im a sucker for happy endings, I am going to go ahead and say they miracles do come true and Riki and Rin's wish to save everyone was in the real world timeline and everyone lives happily ever after.
