Watched it this morning, and watching it tonight as well. It really is a great movie. Well paced, full of laughs and enough moments of action to satisfy.

Lots of bits to fall in love with, from Sanji saving Robin from King Kong wannabe only to be beaten to the punch by Brook who spared no expense at running it in, to Luffy's earth shattering final attack which i am waiting to get an avatar for
"GIGANT THOR AXE!!"

The costumes for all the straw hats, apart from a few fashion crimes, were on point. I think Chopper, Brook and Sanji's outfits, in the flashback on the thousand sunny as they meet Shiki for the first time, were some of the best in the entire movie. Not escaping from the obviously cool mafia/mob costumes they all wore for the final battle of course. Biggest fashion crime: Franky's banana helmet, what was up with that? Never hide his hair

Brook was so bad ass in this movie i can't quite get over it, from jokes to displays of brilliant swordsmanship and fashion sense. I'm not a big brook fan, i actually get annoyed sometimes by his running gags about him being dead, or his undying quest to request the audience of all maiden panties, but this time round he was just too cool.

Regretfully for me, Robin was pretty low key in this film. Aside from her always gorgeous outfits and assistance against some of the pirates allied with Shiki she didn't really feature. Which isn't surprising, the focus of the film was largely on East Blue and therefore Luffy, Nami, Sanji, Zoro and Usopp, there wasn't anything archaeological to deal with, and her abilities weren't at all suited to fight against giant mutated creatures.

Even though the focus was on East blue, Chopper and Franky did great. Chopper won the award for cutest outfit of the year and managed to save Nami's life with the help of Zoro and Usopp. He also got Shiki to go O_O with an attack - Resume is looking pretty awesome for that 50 Beli bounty. Franky made motorcycles out of living insects and crustaceans - NUFF SAID

The power Trio, well, they always show up and dazzle us. Zoro was pretty silent except in battle, in which he never is. His infamous sense of direction nearly got him and Chopper lost forever in the snow

. Sanji was a barrel of laughs, his devotion to the ladies is a classic attribute that's both honorable and amusing. And Luffy? Oh, he was just pwn. Just pwn. He didn't even have to do anything, as long as he showed up for the crazily animated Gear 2 and the final attack his job was done.

Score? 9.5/10 would have been a perfect 10 but you gotta get nit picky when somethings this good:
Robin was barely involved which wasn't a surprise due to the nature of most opponents being humongous. Franky's hat still has me pretty confuggled. Dr. Indigo's feet were too annoying, i didn't mind the miming that he did but his footsteps could have been avoided. That's it.

Shiki's DF is awesome

the MiB crew was SUPER COOL

also, Robin's and Nami's outfits as always 10/10 :drool:

WB, Ace & Shanks only showed for 2-3 seconds in the credits as stills (( .. oh well

I absolutely loved this movie. I can see the big difference in story that comes with Oda directing and writing the story in OP movies, and I gotta say I like these differences. Strong World originally had me worried due to Oda saying that the events in the movie were canon (its supposedly Luffy's last adventure as a seventeen year-old) but this movie took my worries destroyed it and then buried it remains six feet under, I kinda wish more series would do that.

This movie was way more character driven than the other One Piece movies, without any of the cast being OOC. I really like the build up they gave this movie too the marketing team involved really needs to pat themselves on the back. In preparation for this movie we got...
1) passing mention of Shiki in the One Piece manga
2) Manga Chapter 0
3) Animated Chapter 0
4) Anime special of the Strawhats landing on an East Blue-like island, where the people were being terrorized by pirates seeking to gain Shiki's favor.
So matter what medium you read used to follow One Piece you would have at least heard about the movie. I loved the focus of Nami, and how even though she was kidnapped she wasn't useless, which is something that the other movies have done (I'm looking at you Movie 2) and the other strawhats weren't stuck in the background either (movies 3,4,5, 6, and 7) and actually did something. Added plus was the glorious return of teamwork. I got more of a sense of the strawhats being Nakama more from this movie than from any other movie previously produced.

I noticed that this movie was also a bit of a throwback to the previous One Piece arcs: The Arlong Park Arc from Nami being in trouble while trying to save her home, and her friends; Skypeia with the winged people and the islands in the sky; Little Garden from all the monsters; Drum Island Arc with Nami being sick; Alabasta Arc in the race against time to save a Strawhat member's home; Davy Back Fight Arc in the lost of a nakama; Thriller Bark Arc in the teamwork with the strawhats; and finally Impel Down Arc in the saving of a fellow Strawhat member. There was a lot going on and I'm pleasantly shocked that Oda made it possible for the viewers to keep track of it.

The scene when the Strawhats confronted Shiki in their black suits with their guns blaring was awesome. Kudos Oda, Kudos.

Jokes aside, the animation is really excellent., Luffy's Gear Second was wicked!!! Not to mention that last attack on Shiki that made me run around in circles for 2 minutes

So awesome!

Decent movie. Animation was great, lots of cool moments from everyone (especially Brook), tons of delicious fanservice, and the new outfits were stylish. Too bad Shiki wasn't that great of a villain though, I expected him to put up more of a fight against Luffy.

1. When Did Nami get implants.
2. Biri is really Pokemon. Its what happens when you get a pysduck and a pikachu to breed.

Its very good. I'm really curious though is it enjoyable to people who never have seen one piece. Can it operate as a one shot? I think it can but I'm not positive.

This movie was pretty good.

Two things I disliked about it though:
1) The themes been done in One Piece so many times before that it seemed very unoriginal (I mean Nami kidnapped..again?)..it also made Nami and Robin both look weak and helpless which they are not.

2) What happened with Shiki's elite? Shiki himself was too weak for someone who fouht equally with Roger, WB and the oldschool elites back in the days. Seriously if Shiki thought that his fleet of fodder pirates had any chance of toppling the World government (a fleet that was absolutely destroyed bby a group of pirates who were in turn destroyed singlehandedly by Kuma), he must've been kidding himself.

Other then that, it was pretty good. Loved the outfits and designs.

She's been getting bigger over the course of the series. You probably forgot about it seeing as though it's been a while since she made a proper appearance

I thought that when I saw the preview, but after the movie I feel a little different.
I don't think robin was given enough attention or anyone outside of east blue, hence that one scene with sanji could be taken the wrong way.

That I can agree with. The ending fight was a bit anti-climactic. He was portrayed as a believable WB level pirate in the beginning, towards the end he seemed more like crocodile. I'm guessing all that time in hiding, not in the new world made him rusty?

good movie but I have to agree with the main point that Shiki's defeat wasn't really good...
considering he could fly and giga axe is one of luffy's slowest moves there's no reason he couldn't dodge it.

shiki's powers were used well (earth trap/water trap/etc...) but he pulled a double croc in not finishing him and epic stupid near the end.

Spoiler: Rather liked the sudden focus on Nami, which really added more drama to the story then what we've seen in past One Piece films. I guess Oda is to thank for this. Did anyone else find Biri reminded them of Carue? That was a nice plus. & wow seeing Robin in two different once piece outfits ____. Oda sure knows how to please we Robin fans. Oh and not to mention the Nami service, which was pretty damn high in the first half of this film. Awesome awesome film. Kanon Kana Hanazawa ♥ Join Date: Jun 2007 Location: France Age: 37	Spoiler: That was even better than I expected. Definitely the best One Piece movie since the sixth one. The story reminded me a bit of Arlong Park, with Nami getting kidnapped and forced to become some scum's navigator in exchange for the safety of her friends and home town. Nami was truly wonderful in this movie... the last part of her farewell message was so sweet. And she looked stunning, especially right after taking a swim. Her wet hair was sex. Shiki was a really fun villain. His power was quite something, it's a miracle Luffy managed to defeat him. Oh, and he was pretty dumb as well (Mom, is that you!? a perm!?). Didn't think much of his crewmates, though I loved the King Kong reference. Another thing I loved in this movie were the gorgeous landscapes and all those strange animals. The first part in the jungle was very enjoyable. & I agree Brooke was totally awesome in this movie. Seeing him snatch Robin away right under Sanji's nose was hilarious "Are you alright, Mademoiselle?" Also, his first joke in the movie has to be one of his best so far: "True, I am only bones, but that's because I have an interest... in dieting" __________________

Question though: Spoiler for End of Movie: Why did Sanji say(about the latter part of Nami's message) "Sounds like a love letter?" Was that a ref to Nami's closeness to luffy or just Sanji misinterpreting it as a letter to himself in his usual goofy way? . I probably totally misread that though.
