I want season 2.

Gonna probably pick up the current BD's somewhere this weekend.. though why is the box so big for a 12 ep series. D:

I don't think that much to do with it. There are quite a few LNs that have adapted less than 3 vols like Hataraku Maou-sama (which did 2) and still ended up selling well despite being slow as hell. In shows like Tokyo Raven did 9 volumes and barely managed to sell 2k. Plus the show definitely been worse for it like most LN's adaptation are, moreso because Rokka is a mystery. This is last genre that you rushed because mystery stories are typically dialogue heavy (and important) and require a lot setup in both character dynamics and foreshadowing. Even if it's not going do all that well commercially I would prefer that show focus on quality than quantity. Besides wasn't a well know LN series before became a anime so this not that unexpected and furthermore while it had little notice domestically, Rokka seems to been quite popular every else.

I wouldn't be happy if anime rushed through more volumes. It wouldn't work and volume 2 is too good (definitely my favorite volume)to ruined by bad pacing.

But I would like another season.

I would rather say that Rokka shot itself in the foot by not adapting prologue (rabbit hunting Adlet) in first episode...

COnsidering no one died and that therefore you will have both, that's not a downgrade.

For the pics above : I really like that ceremonial hat she had during the ceremony. That's an anime only design, but wouldn't have said no if they wanted to keep it longer actually.

Say what you will but the reached they temple in episode 4 of 12. And then the next 8 episodes are them chasing Adelt around. Eight episodes, and honestly the reveal was so convulted its not even funny. Really, she kidnapped and hid the sun saint, lowering the temperature over a month, blah blah blah. I have read some decent mysteries and no this would not be one of them. I personally like Rokka for the fantasy setting and because I like Adelt and Hans as characters, but as mystery its no anything to write home about. They honestly could have finished that by episode six, and then you have six episodes for volume 2.

I am not pulling this out of thin air, if you look at the criticism, slow pacing is one, sure you could do a light novel over 12 episodes, but not with this one.

And it really doesn't matter in the end, sales are terrible and that is all there is too it. I will just go read the light novel.

But not everybody sees the pacing as an objective issue. As I said before most people (at least LN readers) read Rokka for it's mysteries and character drama, not it's background plot which a major focus until the later novels. So a faster pacing wouldn't amount to much other than weakening that part and addressing the Demon God itself little. On top of that there little guarantee it would helped sales. Heck Overlord is just as slow but one of better selling series, this season so not like have problem with that anyway.

I also don't see how the mystery convoluted anyway. Everything you needed to solve it was given to throughout ep 1-4 (setup) with the rest of the other episodes spent eliminating possibilities. None of broke the show's own internal logic and only the spare tablets at end had any real grievance. But since the mystery is solvable without them it doesn't hold weight other than confirming the culprit which the prior explanations were already pointing too.

Kurohane Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2012	Just finished the series, and I liked it a lot. It kept me guessing. Spoiler: I can already tell that Nachetania's goal isn't really evil. It's just her methods that are the problem. You can't say for peace we have sacrifice 500 thousand people for it with a straight face, and expect to get any allies. Poor Goldov. He was hit hard by the revelation, and you knew it was going to be that way once she was revealed as the mastermind. Anyway, from the the early stages you know it's not your usual hero story where it's simple good vs. evil. Especially when the supposed evil are not just mindless drones, but have a complex structure of different classes, and that they aren't all united. It's more complicated. It's not just stopping the demon god, but a quest for truth as well, and from there, taking the best action. All I can say for the ending is someone has masterfully been able to fake the crest, to have two non-braves around. However, they just needed to bring in another girl that happens to know Adlet, just to keep Adlet and Flamie from becoming an official couple yet. That ticked me off more than the reveal that there's an eighth brave. Also, again another anime ends with a no ending.
