May I ask when was the last time you have been to HK? Granted, it wasn't long ago that your statement was half-correct. I can say confidently that most of the bootleg stores in the last 5 years have more or less decreased in numbers, now they sell mostly bootleg DVD, but they're still no match for the higher-quality licensed ones. Most of the "merchandise" stores sell genuine figures, magazines and CDs imported straight from Japan, and that includes Haruhi figures, not to mention a doujinshi specialist store as well. |

e2046's quality pretty much looks exactly like their pictures (not the original, but the pictures they have for the pre-painted version that they're selling).
I have the Space Yuki Nagato recast+prepaint from them, and overall, the paint job is really well done. It's waaaay better than figurines you get from the big figurine produces, but not quite up to bubba's level. I'd say it captures about 85-90% of Bubba's original paintjob. So that Haruhi gothiloli would look pretty much exactly like what their pictures show. |

well kinny riddle, a few things I'll comment on
if you read the box of your figures they are stamped made in china, and its not because it was imported from japan. alot of companies like bandai have factories in china that actually assemble the figures and toys. only the design and license is actually done in japan. that is one reason when u purchase those type of things they are cheaper in china then the rest of the world. all of the doujin stuff is straight from japan pretty guaranteed though, since most of the small doujin guys print locally in small numbers. and officially licensed DVDs are on par with bootlegs in southeast asia? no... you are correct though, very few PVC figures are knock offs. most are real merchandise. but this does NOT apply to resin kits. 95% of resin kits sold outside of japan are re-casts. and if ur gona ask me when the last time i was in china, i was in taiwan about 8 years ago however, my figure collection is quite huge and I do browse some of the chinese sellers for out of print stuff on a regular basis. |

Using EMS (which I prefer for 'irreplaceables' like figures), shipping runs about 40-50% of the figure cost.
So a $45 USD figure might run me about $15-$20 in shipping. otoh, it is tracked all the way to my door. I doubt they do wholesale ... their main business is in disks (CD/DVD/etc). And they don't actually keep things in stock -- its completely pre-order. I tend to split my business between them and www.hlj.com as far as figures go.

ordering from cdjapan or hlj is fine.
sometimes cdjapan has pictures of limited items that hlj doesnt get till after the release so keep an eye out if there is something particular u are looking for. when i ordered my negima figures by konami (the big realistic ones) i preordered them on cdjapan long before they had picutres up on Hlj. its ironic because i ordered my tsukuyomi moonphase CD's from hlj that same month that were promoting various other merhcandise at that time and it caught my eye |

see this is what i'm talking about, HLJ doesnt have a pic up at this time
but if u check hobbysearch http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10059927 i think the difference is that HLJ has to wait for officially released pictures where as the JP companies can walk into the store and take pictures of the prototypes? |
