There we go. Her name is Naruzaki, by the way, and she's a member of both the art club and of a small clique of four other girls in the class. |

So will we possibly be seeing any of her in upcoming episodes. I haven't read the novels far enough to know if she has the chance of showing up soon in accordance to where the anime is in relation to the novel's story.

Caught an FLV version (very small)...... I'll just note that Haruhi has a rather dramatic shirt with "69" in huge font and chuckle at what I assume is the implicit "engrish". Fascinating, they played the storyline in this episode completely "straight".... I'm guessing the next episode is the equivalent of the "Nagato data spew" mind-blow we got in ep 5 of season one.

How precisely Nagato can look poker-faced while being dragged forwards into a pool of water I'll never know.
I mean, besides that she's an alien and whatnot. /edit Man, I didn't really realise how awkward Nagato looks in school uniform while the rest of the SOS-Brigade is in casual clothes. Wow. |

Just saw it and wow.
Wow. ...Wow. I'm seriously impressed by how much I liked this episode considering which events were happening in it and how they handled them in relation to the light novels. (i.e. What they included and didn't.) Usually I'm completely against playing up any kind of normalcy in Haruhi stories, and slice-of-life rarely works for me in any series--never mind this one. In this case, though, Aya Hirano's voicework and all the fabulous new background music won me over effortlessly, contributing so much to helping me understand how deeply Haruhi's invested in making her friends and her group successful--and, more importantly, sympathizing with her and supporting that goal. For the first time, I'm thinking I might still like Haruhi if she were more of a normal girl, and that feels odd to me since I almost never appreciate anybody except weirdo quirky characters and since I get annoyed with Kyon's light novel narration about wanting her to be more regular. But this is anime. I can blame it on Aya Hirano, blame it on the charming music, or blame it on simply being a different medium not so dominated by Kyon, but I do think I liked her with her indomitable We'll Find Fun No Matter What self just as much as her usual indomitable We'll Find Aliens No Matter What self. Needless to say, I'm so, so eagerly awaiting next week's episode. Can't wait to see how they handle it. |

And subs are already out. Even though I understand the fanaticism of Haruhist quite intimately know (since I am one) it still amazes me that a sub is available when the files are only 10 hours old. They work fast, gotta admit that.

This reminds me: yeah, I also loved seeing the characters in such casual settings. Strange since I really didn't care for the Lone Island Syndrome settings and episodes, but they were given more things to do in Endless Eight and the environments, outfits, and character goals were all constantly changing to make things a little more dynamic. |
