Episode 1:

Hmm, so it starts off with some narration with Yuu being featured in the majority of the first half.

He seems to have the power to briefly possesses someone for a short period of time. Cheating on tests isn't the only thing he does apparently since he used it on some guys while walking back to school. What a troll lol. Seems like he's kinda popular as well for the ladies.

I think the show has a decent pace so far. Not only did it introduce Yuu and his powers but also his personality. However, I find it that he is a guy that takes HUGE risks. I mean, trying to make himself a hero (initiated by himself thanks to his ability) and to impress another girl...

Nao is kinda funny. She seems to have observed all of his moments lolol

These eyes...

Finally. A character that puts his powers to good use and this guy is a dead ringer for Amagi's Seiya.

Well, that was fun starter

For one, it has better pacing compared with Angel Beats 1st episode and managed to cram the whole setup needed without feeling rushed. It helps it has less characters to focus. I don't think it'd be a problem even if they have only 1 cour.

Yuu does remind me to what if you combine Lelouch and Kanye into 1 trying to abuse his power, but that's not necessarily a bad thing as it sort of parodying himself here.

There was a lot of information to cram into the first episode, but I'm pretty happy with the pacing. Comedy is good, and they're already preparing us for some pretty serious drama from the onset.

Time will tell, but I have faith that this is going to be a pretty amazing series.

I was really put off by the MC at first, but after a while things got into a good space, and I could take him. The special powers are being rolled out in a good way. Maybe the change came with the introduction of his imouto, whose relentless good will is kind of infectious.

At first, I didn't find anything striking about the voice-acting, but once again, the voices grew on me. Uchiyama Kouki's evenness is somehow comforting. And the actually not-that-expert voice of Asakura Momo as the sister ended up being quite effective. And Sakura Ayane as the disappearing girl is strong, as always.

This feels like a slow, clear entry to an interesting world. I'm not bowled over, but I feel myself being easily drawn in. I look forward to meeting the idol, lol.

I liked the pennant on the wall at the end: not for a team or a city but for "Earth." Is the imouto's love of the stars a hint of alien contact?

I've made a characters/seiyuus page for this show, with pics of six main characters and their seiyuus, and a bit of info about each seiyuu. Uchida Maaya should show up next week.

That was pure hilarity.

Not quite as funny as Angel Beats but it's a good start. The MC was so hilariously twisted it was amazing to watch. But thankfully karma let its work on him and the show still managed to make the son of a bitch likeable all throughout. It's kinda surprising how easily the MC managed to accept the situation of him essentially being a prisoner but otherwise I thought it was a solid premiere. Finally a genuinely good one after three really average ones (Ranpo Kitan, AxK and Classroom Crisis)

Pretty decent first episode. Man, Yumi told Yu off so good. Soooooooo good. He definitely needed that reality check.

Very interesting indeed.
Yu really knew how to use his gift.
Things were really working out for him.
Well.. up to a certain point when it got even more intriguing.
Will give this a try..

I feel like anyone can relate to the MC ya i get it what he is doing isnt really lawful or ethical or whatever synonym you want to use. But lets be honest there are a bunch of guys who would do this. Which makes me happy to see that this is taking a realistic approach. A nice refreshing confident MC is good. As for the rest of the story im not gonna summarize or input my opinion since i dont generally like to judge 1 episode alone.

That was even better than I expected. I instantly took a liking to the main character, it's rare to have a sympathetic character actually enjoy having powers and abuse them for his own gains. I love how he is total scum and yet still manages to be likable (the scenes with his sister helped).

The imouto is a little bundle of happiness. I hope she'll actually have some role to play. The girl Yu tried to make his girlfriend was also great, the "break-up" scene was really good, I didn't expect her to be this level-headed. I'm sure we'll see her again since she's voiced by Mai Nakahara.

Anyway, this was a lot of fun. So much that I almost regret this will inevitably head into drama, as all Key works do. Hints of a sad story were already thrown around.

Yeah, while I couldn't like the MC early on I can't really blame him either. For the average person if you gain some kind of crazy power....you probably will find less than ethical immediate uses for it. Kind of impressive the level of effort he put into setting up his cheating if nothing else.

Plus did actually end up paying for it once he was found out. He had his fun but he paid for it in full. Getting knocked around pretty effectively .

It is interesting how both amazing and utterly frustrating these abilities are. The ability to possess someone.....for 5 seconds and you collapse while it happens. Going invisible.....but only to a single person. Teleportation....but can't stop easily so can get hurt a lot. So far no real OP ability without downsides to them. Plus they are temporary...that sucks.

It did balance out well once they introduced the little sister and gave the MC a bit of balance to his personality. I am curious about the elder brother angle and what is up with that. Makes you wonder about whether this ability vanishing as they get older is real. Maybe the person vanishes instead or something else. I mean sure having powers in general is strange, but that they only appear for a few years only to simply vanish is a bit odd.

The MC was pretty hilarious. Everyone knows if they got superpowers they'd completely abuse it. But eventually such behavior has to be punished which did make him more likable, though I was liking him before. Anyway, we'll see how this goes. We already have our sign of Maeda Drama.

I found provoking an accident with a truck to be way over the top...

Yeah, that was massively overboard and I don't think the show really called him out on that and tried to play it down a little. But I'm willing to accept that as an early OOC moment provided they don't do anything like that again.

That first episode was very surprising to me. It's not at all what I would expect of PAW or Key. Instead, it felt very KyoAni to me, particularly given the loud/hammy male lead. The comparisons to Amagi's Seiya certainly fit for me.

Unlike other viewers, I didn't find the male lead likeable at all prior to his younger sister's first appearance (she seems to bring out some sincerity in him). However, I did find him interesting. A popular hammy loner using his powers for purely selfish aims, but not necessarily outright villainous aims. That's not something I can recall coming across much in anime before. Even Code Geass and Death Note don't exactly apply since there were more complex ideological/philosophical motivations for Lelouch and Light than basic stuff like better marks in school, greater popularity, and winning over the school's most beautiful and popular girl.

I enjoyed watching the MC get his comeuppance, but a big part of me kind of wishes that "popular loner using his powers for purely selfish aims" had been allowed to play out more than just this one episode. Instead, we now seem to be shifting to a "school for superpowered kids" which frankly is about as conventional and commonplace a series concept as you'll find in anime. I guess this school might be more "Suicide Squad" than "X-Men", and that makes it a bit different than most anime shows like this, but Key/PAW are really going to have to bring their A-Game to make this sort of scenario feel fresh and interesting.

Still, I give Key and PAW kudos for going outside their comfort zones given what the MC is like. An engaging and thought-provoking first episode.

Agreed. The cheating on tests thing is somewhat unethical, but that much alone I didn't care all that much about. At least it's not recklessly endangering people's lives.

It was at this truck accident moment that I started to loath the male lead, and I continued to do so until he got the crap beat out of him. Given that he did get his comeuppance, and given that his scenes with his sister shows some potential for character growth, I'm willing to approach this truck accident scene the same way that Haak did.

I went into this completely blind of any promotion and I enjoyed it a lot. Key shows usually aren't my thing, but everything from the characters to the setup sold me here. It helps this starts off way more coherent than Angel Beats ever did. The MC basically being huge con-artist is pretty uncommon role to see too. I'll have to see how the drama holds up be for I fully commit, but there is enough of interest to continue for the time being.
