I was also disappointed by the lack of a proper time skip scene. Thankfully, the rest of the episode made up for it. I like the fact Kaoru confessed to Junichi first, and a sweet confession it was "I know 100 bad things about you, but... I know 101 good things about you. Junichi, I love you". Overall, I think this arc was way better than the last one. The development seemed more natural, the same goes for the chemistry between Junichi and Kaoru.
Haruka almost stole the show with that christmas outfit. So, so sexy. Miya was wonderful as usual, such an understanding and thoughtful little sister~ I'm not looking forward to Sae's arc all that much. Can Miya replace her, please? Not necessarily. Seeing how shy Sae is, maybe it will simply take longer for their romance to develop.

Looking very forward to what Sae will bring to the show, being such the shy type. Kinky scenes should be good!

If there's anything I absolutely loved about this episode, it has to be the dialogue. Sure most of it was rather petty, simple and commonplace, but it was very natural.
While there are times when you can see the bond between a man and a woman by the silence between them, you can also see the bond between them by the conversations that they share. This was a prime example of the latter, and excellently done. Blog post later.

Hello. I registered just to post my thoughts on this arc on a single place rather than just through scattered comments on blogs, imageboards and such.
I spoiled myself with details regarding Kaoru's arc beforehand and haven't seen Haruka's arc save the beginning to compare the prologues. I'm watching the show for Kaoru's particular brand of relationship dynamic, so this means I'm probably only going to watch Rihoko's arc as well. So her episodes were pretty good, but it's a pity the arcs are so short because there's a lot of stuff they cut out, and the various other girls popping up sometimes add to the story and at other times just eat up valuable airtime. Most importantly, the writers cut out the crucial bit of dialogue that linked Kaoru's stepdad problems to her changing relationship with Junichi. This would have made the point of episode 7 much clearer to anyone who complained about the drama, which I'm okay with. In short, Spoiler for important bit that got cut what the heck:
The episode could also have used a timeskip based on the second-best ending in the game where Spoiler:
Complaints aside, this episode was sweet. The arc mellows as it goes along, but so do our couple. But would you believe the entire arc takes place in less than a week? Still they've been friends for years so finally the pieces fall into place, etc. And here are the spoilers I mentioned: [mod edit: spoilers removed] Last edited by relentlessflame; 2010-08-20 at 13:35. MISSION COMPLETE
While Haruka's arc was more eccentric and energetic, Kaoru's arc was more gentle and easygoing. Even though it had an abrupt ending (I suspect that will be the case for every arc), The awaited confession was resolved; and boy was it ever. The entire scene in the tower was perfect; the dialogue, the presentation, even the music (timing-wise anyway) worked. The transition from casual conversation to romantic moment felt very natural, as was the rest of that scene. The confession itself is pretty simple, but the dialogue really sold it (the 100 bad things/ 101 good things was adorable). Gotta give a hand to those VAs. And it all tops off with a Kodak Moment; an embrace above a glass floor surrounded by a scene of fallen snow. Epilogue was a nice add-on, with Kaoru's flirtatious remarks. Despite sending us off with a still frame (Even just an animated version of that end would've been fine!), I give it a 10/10. : ) |

Absolutely loved how natural this arc was compared to the melodramatic hijinks of the last one. Bit disappointed there wasn't the same amount of epilogue details, but I can wait til they get it right for the dvds. Totally not a conspiracy to get people to buy 'em. Was nice how they fell into it as 'bad friends'.

I am pleased with this arc. The close friendship between Kaoru and Junichi is convincingly portrayed, with a natural trust and sweetness that would have been enjoyable even in a story without a romantic ending.
In a larger perspective, it seems that Junichi has "leveled up" in his love, from the dog-like instinctive love in the first arc to a somewhat more human "natural love" in this one, although he is still somewhat led by his glands, as is often the case with boys his age. I hope this is the beginning of a gradual progression. In Buddhist lore, it is assumed that people can improve even without remembering their incarnations. Even though these arcs are iterations rather than incarnations, they are still cumulative in the mind of the onlooker, so I have a faint little hope that we may see Junichi becoming gradually more mature and expansive in his love. I suspect he will at least need it in the final arc, which (judging from small hint so far) will confront him with a greater challenge than he has met before. Then again, I may be wrong. At least I had the pleasure of watching a fairly realistic depiction of friendship blossoming into love. The world could need more of that. (Marriages between friends are statistically more likely to last, although nothing in this world is certain. It makes sense, given that they already know 100 bad things about each other before their romance starts...) |

Heard about this on er, 4chan:
- Supposedly, the home video release will have an epilogue and other extended footage. Oh I hope. - http://twitter.com/amagami_ouen -- According to these Twitter statements, a final bicycle scene (as seen at the every end of the credits) couldn’t be aired because it was “dangerous”. |

Well how do I put it....think I'll let my good friend Tommy Boy sum it up
That was really really nice, I loved the whole confessing in the tower bit, was oh so sweet. Plus the standing over the glass floor kinda adds to it all, now I'm not exactly afraid of heights but even I get a little wobbly in the knees standing over them. My experience was at the Toronto Tower and that is one bloody tall tower. Jun's got some balls for standing on it given having quite a fear of heights, thats for sure. The onwards to spending the night together, I wonder how one would put it, pure bliss to be the same bed as the girl ya love or Hell on earth that she gets ya all raring to go but then falls asleep on ya-__- Well the arc was great, altho maybe a tad more ont he details of kaoru's family troubles would have been nice but this ep just trumps any little nit picking I could or would have with this arc, hell even the whole series so far. Let's see what else is there...oh yea Haruka in the santa outfit! Bending the rules on so many levels indeed! Also a girl asks her for a one on one and then her asking Hibiki-chan to join in!!! looking forward to the extra content for the BD/DVD later.
