Actually, on a more practical note, Furuya is injured. Why risk it at all when Eijun was doing so well? There is potential to make his injury worse, and there is potential that he can't pitch to his abilities.

He's the ace. That's it.

That was a bittersweet ending; however, it did end on a very positive note. They kept both Kataoka as the head coach and Ochiai stayed on as an assistant coach. Furuya was quickly brushed through in his one inning of pitching. Miyuki seemed to have fully healed. I look forward to seeing what the new recruits bring to team, especially Koshu.

The series ends in an interesting spot for the Spring Invitational at Nationals. There are 2 outs in the bottom of the 7th inning, with Seido leading 4-1 and apparently no one on base. The coach switches in Eijun at that point? That was just weird. Well, it at least still shows that Furuya can't pitch in a complete game.

I didn't understand why the Jingu tournament was mentioned. They stated it was 10 days away, yet the collage at the end showed events through Christmas, New Years, and finally graduation in the spring (March?). What happened to the Jingu tournament?

P.S. The animators made Wakana really cute at the end. Also, her love rival of Haruno ended up not really doing anything in the story at all. I'm sure the author originally intended for Haruno to play a bigger role, but he dropped it for some reason.

I got some slight tears for the ending, mostly because at seeing how everyone came together and celebrated after all their hard work. And the amount of reflection with the theme song played really bought a solid ending.

Seido will be playing again for sure in the future so if they decide to announce season 3, I'll be excited to see it. Good show overall.

I'm glad they breezed through the remainder of the game and the finale wrapped up nicely (if you can count Kataoka sticking around as being nice, ugh) but I still can't let go of the way last week ended.

Anyway the show's over now, so that's that. I'm not picking up the manga nor will I return if Second Act is animated even if I love Eijun and Harucchi plus other characters not from Seido.

Man I really loved this show, which is saying something since I don't even like baseball. Hope it continues at some point in the future.

Really like that Ryousuke give Haruichi his glove at the end.

It went out with a bang!~ (Despite the great disappointment of last week) I really love this series, through and through. The emotions, tensions and the reality are all on poin in this series, sometimes makes me want it to be a little less actually.

It was a roller coaster ride, I've been loving every second of it and of course, the characters are the highlight of the series. Eijun, Miyuki, Harucchi, Kuramochi, Chris, Tetsu, Jun, Masuko, Ryosuke, Shirasu, Kanemaru, Tojo and all the other unmentioned second and third years. I also like the opponents, albeit some of them annoy me. Hahaha

Now, to anyone thinking of giving up here. Please don't, Act 2 is showing promise with Eijun's development as a player/pitcher, the introduction of the first years (koshuu and one unexpected character..yui) are the highlight of the first 20-25 chapters...just ignore the Furuya fest in the beginning. <3

That was a good end...the part with Sawamura declaring war for the Ace position was still bittersweet for me (carried on from last episode) but the montage of the passing of time and the third years graduating was pretty emotional - brings back memories of when the series first started. Based on the ending message, looks like their won't be a third season for any foreseeable future. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted.

Well, at least there's Act 2 to read - will miss the great animations though.

Now that those who followed and finished the anime to-date, this is effectively the same as completing "Act 1" of the manga series. Act 2 has reached Chapter 29 and there is scope for discussion. Unfortunately, there's no Diamond no Ace manga thread in Animesuki.
