He's currently stuck in another VMMORPG of sorts, being thrown in there while his body is being treated having poison injected into him by Johnny Black. By all accounts Kirito should be dead already, his heart stopped beating 3+ chapters back...

As for why, Kirito and this other guy (what's his name in English?) is going into the capital to get back Alice, and he's promising Seika they'll all be fine and will get Alice back. The poor dude has no idea what kind of flags he's raising though

...kirito is dead ? what's the after story i'd doubt having a dead body and a very active brain sounds logical

Spoiler for Real purpose:

Kirito's real purpose of kissing Selka's forehead was to find out whether he was the same as "the NPCs" around him such as Eugeo (the other guy), extremely bounded by the laws of the Axiom Church. Noted that "the NPCs" will feel immense pain especially on their eyes when they were thinking of breaking the law.

He was doing this because he feared that he was only the copy of real Kirito with real world memories. So, he tried to break the law intentionally by kissing Selka. Luckily, nothing happened and he can at least confirm that he is the real Kirito.

So, don't worry. Kirito did not hold any feelings towards Selka.

It's a direct continuation of the story. It's Kirito (without any spoilers) playing a new VRMMO.

If you're looking for spoiler's of the Alicization arcs they were spoiler'ed pretty heavily a few pages back (I personally tried to ignore most of the spoilers). I had a lot of issues with my initial read of the translated prologue of Volume 9, but finally just decided to go with the flow and enjoy it. Helped to understand it was the same Kirito, but *basically* with amnesia.

I see, so it's the "true" story to say the least. I'll just read it more thoroughly to understand what's going on.

A fan of any series will generally say yes. Gve it a shot, its a very good series IMO. My favourite LN series as well
