Thought i'd throw some information in here for anyone curious about Connecticut:
-My power in south western connecticut went out around 5PM Monday and came back on Wednesday 6PM.
-We weren't really well prepared for such a long downtime of power but we made through, nothing too serious.
-So many trees are still knocked over.
-There isn't much flooding over here but apparently we were lucky compared to other places.
75mph peek winds.
-Candles and Ice were out of stock absolutely everywhere within the first day.
-The streets were pitch dark by 5 or 6.

As far as i know it school has been canceled the whole week and halloween pushed back?

I have to say you don't quite appreciate electricity as much until it's gone. Of course I'll appreciate it all the more when it's actually back up at my place and I don't have to take my laptop on the road to find power . Could be a lot worse of course, but the dark and cold still sucks.

Isn't it interesting that both The Economist and BusinessWeek (both conservative rags) have suddenly become "evil liberal socialist evil!!!!" this year. I'm reading between the lines that a large part of the business community is waking up to the fact some of their large brethren are dangerous and toxic to everyone else.

The longest I've ever had to go without it was almost two weeks (once in the Pacific Northwest after a winter storm and once in Houston after a hurricane).

Mmmmmmm, spam and tunafish, all those board games. and either freezing (Pac NW) or sweltering heat (Houston).

Rebellious Old & Rich Businessman : It is them kids. Those our buddies handed over large wads of cash to. Those who get Ivy League degrees with money. Damn useless dumb kids with silver spoons in their mouths.

I lucked out, only had internet down for about 36hrs. Around me was a lot of power outages (some back on some not at this time) and bunch of fallen trees and branches. I've seen some street sign posts torn off, people can fall and impale themselves on what's left of some of them. Things are slowly returning to normal for my corner of the city and where I work, but it's a wreck for the heavily damaged areas still.

#1. Blaming the Hurricane on Homosexuals

Isn't it amazing how the "homosexual agenda" seems to consist entirely of controlling the weather? Anyway, if you're going to make fun of reactionary hate-mongering shitheads (like we are right now), their lack of originality is a great talking point to start with. They're blaming Sandy on the gays this time around, but when Katrina was beating the shit out of New Orleans, gay people got the blame for that, too.

Call us crazy, but maybe forcing people to huddle together to stave off hypothermia from freezing cold flood waters isn't the best idea to break up a union.

The sad thing is that I sense this is legit huh?


On the main note, hope most of you peeps are hanging in there okay, (those especially in the Caribbean too, not just America) being a Brit and having dealt with rains and floods in the streets more times than I care to count, just grab a pair of wellies and most you ya should be fine

Forecasters are tracking a storm developing off the Southeast coast that is expected to make a turn northward and intensify on Tuesday before hitting the Mid-Atlantic and Northeastern States by Wednesday, and continuing into Thursday.

The National Weather Service is predicting that the storm could produce sustained winds of 30 to 40 miles per hour and gusts of up to 60 m.p.h. in the New York region by Wednesday afternoon. The storm could cause more power failures and minor to moderate flooding along the coastal areas that were devastated by the hurricane last week, said David Stark, a meteorologist with the Weather Service.
