This is the best episode for me.

Ise is badass & awesome in this episode.

As much as i hate to say it this wasnt a very good episode. Did it have its moments YES. But it didnt have the same impact. The best way to describe this episode was underwhelming.
Was it fun seeing Diodora get stomped yes but i didnt feel the hatred i felt for him when i read it. The fights between the servants were nice but it didnt have the Oomph i was hoping for. Was Freeds part good. Frankly No the transformation ruined the impact and honestly i didnt feel hatred for Diodora like i was hoping to. The ending scene with Asia was also really tame. At least it felt that way to me. And although the scene with Asia in the end certainly is a tearjerker but for some reason it didnt hit me as much as i hoped.

Pfft. You love hating on everything. I don't recall you saying something actually positive about an anime except for that time the universe turned upside down in episode 6.

There was no Oomph to the fight against the servants in the LN either, they were fodder.

You misunderstand Chichi i hate to say it because this episode and the next one were ones i was looking forward to the most. I think i just expected a lot more emotional impact from certain scenes.

I think that like many you only have 1 or 2 moments per episode that you want to see and as long as they're satisfactory it gets high marks. I'm more strict in my judgement of an episode. I mix what i know with what i expect and really i expected more at least in certain parts.

Considering everything you pointed out was just as bad in the LNs, I really can't see where your expectations came from.

^Well who knows. I think i expected the bad moments to be good but the good ones would've been so good it outweighed the bad. The bad moments were bad but the good moments well they were kinda meh. Either way next week is the one that has to be good.

Well one thing i agree with Imperial is that Asia disappearing lacks the impact. They should have had Asia disappear moments after she was freed instead of having her do some unnecessary prayer.

But she prayed in the LNS too.

^the problem is that the disappearing was a long process i felt as though it would be more zap you're gone. Plus if u didnt know the story like we do the preview doesnt make much sense.

Which is something i felt that was dumb till now. They were under attack from enemies yet they allow Asia to waste time doing prayers.

But that aside in the LN,

Asia disappears when she was heading back to Ise, here it's like she disappears without any reason.

Plus in the LN issei does DB only after freezing them with Bilingual. Here he uses DB it doesnt work and the fodder proceed to kick his ass until he uses Bilingual to freeze them. Xenovia's is the same pretty much.
Even moreso with the Freed thing. In the original Freed already looks like the twisted mofo but in this one he transforms into it.

Sure Diodora gets his butt kicked but in the LN you're just like okay Diodora pissed issei off he goes Super Dragon and proceeds to punch his lights out without any trouble at all.. Here you're like okay he's pissed goes Super Dragon and pounds him but its not as one-sided as the LN made it feel.

Thats the problem and wat i meant by impact. The scenes are there and even if they arent great they still could be better.

Two things:

Spoiler for LN Freed:

How does he transforming into a monster take away from the impact of him already being one? It's a similar situation as Chaos Break, did that take away the impact of Siegfried vs Kiba in volume 12?

The point of that scene was for Kiba to demolish him, which was done beautifully.

Spoiler for LN Diodora:

I have no idea what you meant by "its not as one-sided as the LN made it feel". IIRC in the LN Ise kept beating up Diodora, he created a barrier that worked, Ise broke it, game over. What is the huge difference that gives Diodora more strength in your eyes?

Anyway, for me it was a total 11/10. Diodora's peerage, Freed, and Diodora getting destroyed were perfect. Asia's prayer scene left you wondering what happened until it's explained next ep. And yeah, it's confusing right now, but her doing that fits into the type of person she is.

Also, Bilingual!! High-quality breasts and high-quality fights, that's the DxD I know.

Freed transformed in the LN too.

It was a one-sided fight. Diodora didn't do any damage on Ise and only put up a barrier. Ise didn't even flinch when he was hit by Diodora's attacks.

@B214: So Rias and Akeno fighting over Ise during a fight is fine, but that isn't? OK.

You didn't refute any of my points.

And, no. That's not all I needed. I wanted it done well, and I got it done well. They kept the head-stabbing, they kept the anger in Kiba's expression, Diodora was beaten almost perfectly, what is there for me to complain about? That it wasn't EXACTLY like the light novel? The sentiment of "fuck you Diodora, you're a weak loser compared to the Sekiryuutei" was retained and that's what the entire fight was about. And I actually had a lot of fun watching the fight against Diodora's peerage, that's a first this season.

...Which leads me to wonder, since Akeno's development isn't over yet, are we getting a second date?

Ended where I thought it would, Imperial complained about nothing like I thought he would... all is right in the world.

Only real complaint I'd have would be that they didn't show the other characters trying to free Asia before Issei Dress Broke it. As it is, it relies entirely on the viewer remembering how insane the power of a Longinus is supposed to be. Otherwise really good episode to build up for next week.
