although, i dont know what part of the money actually goes to Kyoani.
They have commercials slots which the production committee has sold to other production committee members (Kadokawa, Lantis, Pony Canyon, etc) since they basically bought an infomertial slot from the networks.

The whole thing seems really fishy and silly. If there was a second season, I would bet that 1) Kadokawa would milk the hype for all its worth, and 2) Not air the episodes at ridiculous hours.

The first broadcast was at "ridiculous hours" too.

Three things:

a) First, your 'theory' that the other 14 episodes are going to be another re-airing... they would lose both money and fans. A lot of them. Why would they do this? They would gain nothing.

b) Second, the first season wasn't milked at first either. And I think they've been milking enough over the past 3 years anyway.

c) As has been said, anime is aired at ridiculous hours in Japan. DO YOUR RESEARCH, YO.

Considering that this is Kadokawa I really wouldn't be suprised if the other 14 episodes is simply season 1 in the original broadcast order with Kadokawa explaining that the Super Director didn't like the second season and deleted it.

As Gainax has proven you can never milk enough

Considering the popularity of the first season you would think they would push for a better timeslot.

No economic sense in it. Again, they wouldn't pay to put twice the number of episodes on air.

The only possible reason to do that would be to alienate the entire fanbase. Again.

...

See. Most anime airs about this time. Only things that don't are mainstream stuff like Bleach, Naruto, Geass etc.

The less excited they are, the more shocked and elated they'll be when it turns out to not be a troll and the less disappointed they'll be when there's nothing. It's just a defense mechanism.

^ Then all the fans who thought there were new episodes from the start will laugh at the non-believers for thinking such an idiotic theory

On the other hand, people on both sides will feel betrayed if it is a troll... either way, I'll enjoy the response

This. People exploding in shitstorms always makes me laugh, especially when it's over something trivial.

i guess what i'm trying to say is - no show->no commercials->no money for network. hence the thought that maybe the network pays kyoani to air its shows to have money from commercials. oh and + SHnY is a VERY popular show which everyone will watch and see the commercials also.
its just a maybe, so...

about the posts above...so you are assuming they have specialists in group psycology and were in discussion about what is the most likely response would be to what course of action kyoani takes? this is just(key word here) a question, btw...

Doesn't seem particularly likely given what I've heard about japanese TV networks here.

Economic sense? THIS. IS. KADOKAWA! that we're talking about here. I don't think they know the meaning of the words.

At this point, I might actually be disappointed if we actually get new material (and am actually beginning to suspect that we might). The reaction to this being another troll would be so delicious.

Trolling fanboys with misleading information isn't the same thing as actually paying for air time.

True, which is why I'm beginning to believe that they might be serious this time. Still, it would be immensely amusing if it was another troll. Going so far to troll the audience might reach Refuge in Audacity territory.

Yeah, they wasted all that money just to piss off the fanbase.

It would be funny in some ways, but not in others.

Don't be a sadist, please. This world is awful enough without the sadists lurking around...

They might be upset by the people who believe in the second season gloating about how they were right. That turned out grammatically awful... meh, well, I hope it makes sense.

I'd only be a sadist if I were the one causing things.
