OYAJI JA NAI!!!
SERIOUSLY! I'm younger than around 90% of the people here!!! *cough* Now if only I could use that blade RIGHT NOW. But yeah, my final semester in college is proving to be a very busy one. =_= Not to mention that my computer got bugged with a serious virus and getting about 80% of my files (including some important files for school) go *WHOOSH!!!* down the River Styx... Ugh. And yeah, the Backlog Breaker I was building up got blasted too. I'm still not out of the running, I assure you guys. But I'm really lagging behind right now due to reasons beyond my control. D: Oh, and yeah. Welcome, boomersooner! For running through the 1400+ pages of backlog, I suggest against doing it (though the choice is yours whether to do so or not). Most of the material you will come across (around 70%) should be defunct by now, like Shiny stated. If you want, you could just have the residents here to post their works here for you to see. Or otherwise, you could refer from the INDEX and just pick around randomly for stuff to read. Just for some quick reference, Keroko's, LoweGear's, Nightengale's and PhoenixFlare's works are some of the more popular stuff (and lengthy for the latter two) here. Sheba's and Tempest Dynasty's works are newer but has a lot of material in them. I'd also suggest Kha's work for a fun time busting your brain cells. ( @ Kha ;p) If you want good, long works with awesome drawings included, FlameSparkZ and -Fate- are ones to watch out for. Of course, there's really no reason to leave out my own works, is there? Have fun! If the other OC-ers want their works seen, just let them advertise.;p

*rolls eyes* Learn to back up important files. All my OC stuff is backed up on no less than 3 drives. One all-purpose 'entire D partition' backup on a big external hard disk, one OC folder only on a more general purpose, and one OC folder on my MP3 player to carry around.

Ahh, but my OC files WERE backed up in my External HDD. So I still haven't lost those. >:3
I couldn't say the same for the majority of my other pics, vids and mp3's, though. The school files were the biggest hit. T_T At least I still have a good number of completed series in my HDD. As well as the zip files and a majority of my Nanoha series fics.

Now, I've been known to be wrong before, much as it pains me to admit that, but it seems like school stuff might be JUST a bit more important to make sure you save... Then again, if school bores you as much as it does me, maybe you were just waiting for an excuse to lose everything just to give your teachers gray hairs. Might be good for a laugh, ne? *hides...but makes a note to back all his own stuff up...*

It was mostly my idiocy and overconfidence over anything else. I neglected doing so because my antivirus program was well-updated but the last thing I expected was to get a virus through my USB AFTER USING IT WITH A SCHOOL COMPUTER. So yeah, I'm never trusting university computers again, or at least I'll be damned sure to check my USB outside my computer for viruses always. >_>

I got a virus a few months ago that smacked the ever living hell out of my boot drive and totally screwed it over to the point I needed to go buy a specialized recovery toll which mercifully saved it. I didn't end up losing a thing since I toughed it out instead of going for a format or the like though it costs me 15 bucks in the end. HDs are acutally pretty damn hard to totally screw so it's often worth making an attempt to salvage them even if it seems a longshot, but I can't comment on what happened with yours.

Though sorry to hear about the data-wreck... Why does it occur so often around here? I've seen infections from school computers too often to trust them ever since I started work as a school librarian. With the computers HDDs locked down by admin password not even available to the Library's IT Leader (me), which meant that they were maintained by underfunded school ops under the oversight of a 70 year old retiree. Because he didn't really have a clue what to do, they get worm-eaten really fast. We sort of semi-fixed the problem upgrading to resetting the HDD every reboot, but there has been some cases where an infection during a long session, and no reboot occured so the virus sort of sat there and turned the unit into a super-infector. I really should stop applying Infectious Diseases module to this post... Quote:
[A-A-A-AARON008R!] This is gonna tickle for a bit. *rolls Aaron008R into a MasterSwirl and plays boomerang with him* >=3 But go ahead Boomer, have fun with the perfect example of what not to do, which is Kha's old creations. They are 100% defunct now, but if you see something you like to make mention of or discuss there, please feel free. This place needs more life.
