Well after 3 weeks since the last subbed episode I gave up and went to check out the final 3 episodes on a blog. I agree that the ending was a little bit open but after seeing some endings that are really laid out and I didn't like this wasn't too bad.
Though there are a ton of things you really have to wonder about. It'd be interesting if they did do some sort of continuation though, I'm not surprised that the merchandise sales haven't gone great. |

Hey there, everyone.
I was interested in this series when it first started airing, but didn't start watching it. I've remembered about it all this time, though, and now that it seems many of you have watched it to the end, I'll probably be able to get some solid reviews. Therefore, my question is, quite simply - do you or do you not recommend it? Why or why not? Thanks to those of you who feel like answering. |

It's actually quite an intimate story, based around a small set of likeable characters that makes the developments feel all that more bleak because you feel for what they've had to come to terms with. I'm skirting the spoilers for obvious reasons, but you genuinely feel for Kyo as he begins to understand and accept what's happened to the world and steps out of the 'ganbare' hero cliche to become a more developed character. Technically it is a good effort by Sunrise. The animation is solid, and I had no real complaints in this department. One or two episodes dropped the quality on occasion but over all it is pretty consistent. The CG mecha and its kit-friendly design takes some getting used to, but actually is pretty effective in the bigger battles. Music was especially good, I recommend the soundtrack if you can lay your hands on it. The OP by Akino Arai is particularly wondrous. Give it 6 or 7 episodes and I'm sure you'll be hooked. |
