I'm not serving Maho (if you want to know why, you can search my posts but suffice it to say losing twice in two years with what she has is criminal even before you get into the internal process - I have not heard of a fully convincing explanation as to why Mother Shiho doesn't disown her).

A subbed version of the OVA is available finally - it will be so nice to see some more GuP. ^^

Always kinda wished I could have seen more of the Anzio match, and it finally arrived!

Well, my response was based on the questions of qualities of leadership, respect/compassion for teammates, and sportsmanship. Tactical ability was never mentioned. However, I do agree with you. If tactical ability is a consideration, Maho would definitely not be my first choice (neither would Anchovy).

First year loss to Pravda could have been written off as bad luck. Second year loss to Oorai was definitely due to doctrine inflexibility. Shiho disowning Maho for that would make her a hypocrite, but then again disowning Maho would make a pretty good plot point for season 2.

Don't know about that. Disowning Maho would be an extremely bad decision for Shiho.

First problem comes to mind... she ain't got heirs left.

I felt that of everyone, Miho's tactical ability speaks for itself, given what we've seen. I think that Darjeeling and Kay also perform admirably as far as being able to plan and be flexible goes. One thing I would like to see in the movie would be a greater chance for all of the leaders to shine, but that might not be a possibility.

If not the movie, it might be a possibility in a second season. An all-star Japanese team for the international tournament would probably have the leaders plus one or two subordinates for each. At least that's what I'm hoping for.

Well got to watch the subbed Anzio Ova, and it was great to revisit the series after so long. The anime version of Anchovy and the Anzio girls sure were a likeable and lively bunch, the match was a lot of fun to watch.

Yet now that it's over a strangely lonely feeling has set in now that we're at the end. Maybe I'll marathon the whole series tomorrow....
