To make it more "inconspiciuous", thread coloured and weighted plastic/metal beads and tie them around the bottle to act like ball bearings on a grenade.
I don't think that's it, since the lady was not charged with having a bomb. More likely I think it's a strong bleach that undergone some chemical reaction, maybe with the bottle holding it.

I think she inadvertently mixed bleach and detergent together, not knowing that certain compounds -- which are supposed to be separated physically -- in her custom mixture have created such an explosive chemical reaction.

Wow. This sounds like it could be a good Mythbusters subject.

Hurricane Sandy unearths a skeleton in Connecticut

A New Haven woman spied bones in the dirt around a tree uprooted by Superstorm Sandy. An entire skeleton, it may have been there since colonial times, police say.

NEW HAVEN, Conn. — New Haven police say superstorm Sandy has revealed a skeleton beneath the town green that may have been there since colonial times.

Police spokesman David Hartman says a woman who was with other bystanders looking at a fallen oak tree called police Tuesday after she saw bones in the upturned roots.

Hartman says the tree was planted on the green in 1909 on the 100th anniversary of President Abraham Lincoln's birth. He says the remains likely belong to one of thousands of people buried there in colonial times. The remains will be evaluated by the state medical examiner.

Katie Carbo, who called police, tells the New Haven Independent she saw something in the tree roots, and found the bones when she removed some dirt. She says the skeleton "should be given a proper burial."

How weird would it be if your skeletal remains were to be unearthed by a super storm over a 100 years from now, in an era where things have changed so drastically?

heh, my alma mater. Interesting tie in to Norse Mythos I guess. One of my courses there was "Science Fiction Literature" so this isn't much of a stretch. They probably have to read the Edda as supplementary study

We had a Science Fiction Course in my college. "Ender's Game" and "The Simarillion" were two of the books we read.

Oh wow, I just saw this:

Israel Confirms Killing Arafat Deputy in 1988

JERUSALEM (AP) — Israel acknowledged Thursday it killed Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat's deputy in a 1988 raid in Tunisia, lifting a nearly 25-year veil of secrecy and allowing a rare glimpse into the shadowy world of its secret operations. One of the commandos was disguised as a woman on a romantic vacation, and one of the weapons was hidden in a box of chocolates.

That will probably make the Iranians even more paranoid.
