It would be REALLY nice to have a real budget for this

Then I'd be overzealous enough to make the claim "I will buy Japan!"

Well, the applications aren't even in place yet so it should be interesting. The JTA has always been a pretty awkward website

Took eons to load for me.

I like how they're announcing everything before the applications open, makes it fair. Gonna also make it a cutthroat competition too.

I can already imagine the bloodshed that will occur when people go crazy over getting the chance to go to Japan

Hopefully one doesn't have to post there to get a "better chance" at going. Really don't like posting on other people's blogs.

I seriously doubt it's first come, first serve.

I think they are looking for a well rounded itinerary. Not, I fly there, Comiket, fly back.

If it was first come first serve, they wouldn't have applications, just "I want my free tickets" or such.

What's your purpose anyway in getting to Japan other than the "free fare offer"?

Yea, I'm thinking they're going to want a little advertising from applicants. Nothing's free in this world, except air

They probably want people who get the free trip to spend that saved airfare in Japan. Although, this way they can also keep the airfare they are sponsoring from going to foreign airlines if they work with Japanese airline companies.

Choo's little survey wasn't very well constructed.... I'd be interested in classical and pop culture, as well as landmarks, shrines, castles, how people live, eating what the locals eat, attending the festivals, etc.

And yeah,,, that'd give me an extra couple of thousand bucks to spend on Japanese food, drink, collectibles, ryoku, onsen.

I hope this is true though since I'm planning to go Japan next year together with my parents.

Collectibles...
*Goes to Comiket*
*Buys 3 of everything*

What the government really needs to do for their economy is to start a burst of huge ass inflation. How do they expect me to pay for basic stuff like food and hotel rooms when the exchange rate is like 75 JPY to 1 USD... Would boost their exports as well.

I wondering that where Can I find some 'Halal' foods there when I need them since Mcdonalds & KFC aren't really 'halal' especially for Malaysian & singaporean tourists.

You could try going into an onsen without your wife dismembering you and the NPA trying to piece you back.

I would like to visit the oldest shrine in Tenri though. And take a look at yakuza headquarters.
