id rather them start from scratch. The animation techniques we have to day would be freaking awesome in Ippo. Dosent matter though, i doubt we'd get any long running series for a while. These days they seem to be doing a load of 12 episode seasons.
Plus i wasn't keen on the VA's, especially Takamura |

Pretty much every VA was perfect, in my opinion.
In fact, I'll be completely crushed if they don't bring back the exact same VAs for all their old roles. They were all absolutely perfect for the characters. I also thought that the animation was just fine -- the first spar between Miyata and Ippo, for example, was animated beautifully at times. It looked far better than the manga, where Mori's art had only just begun to evolve. If they started from scratch it would be one of the biggest wastes of potential in anime history. They have so much absolutely amazing material to work with...Takamura/Hawk, Ippo/Sawamura, Date/Martinez, etc. It would be absolutely ridiculous if they just started from scratch to remake an already brilliant first season. A waste of their money, and a waste of our time. |

This is one of the greatest tidbits of anime-related news I've heard in a long time. I'm genuinely excited, Hajime no Ippo is such an amazing series. I loved the original VAs as well, I would be pretty disappointed if we're to go without them. I also feel this should be a sequel, as the best has yet to come for the fights in terms of where the anime left off.

I would think it's very likely a continuation of the last series, i.e. where they ended with Ippo winning the Japanese Featherweight Title vs. Sendo.
This new anime then would probably focus in how Ippo would defend his title (although we saw his 1st title defense in the movie). But yes, I HOPE it's a CONTINUATION and not a RESET, since there is no lack of material to animate for ANOTHER 75 EPISODES, plus there are too many AWESOME fights as mentioned above that we still haven't seen animated! |

Note: Is it just me or you're title is wrong? "Hajime no Ippo"... |

I just fell outta my seat!
Thank goodness it was getting hard having that OVA not even starring Ippo as the last animated work...As much as I love the fighting I hope there is a bit more emphasis on the relationships...It's like they pwned us on all the love interest stories, pulling us along but never really concluding it...

One of my all time favorites... WOOT!
I would not want a remake... I watched the original series and I had nothing to complain about, it was still captivating. I'd prefer they make a whole new story and captivate me again. God damn this anime was good.
