Here's an idea, make a series with multiple harem protagonists or threesome pairings, Hell throw in a yuri-bait one just for fun... But make them all short hair and boyish... Just to be realistic...

Basically, a polygamous male MC, a shy straight childhood female and a tomboyish bestfriend of the girl who prefers both? |

That's one of the things I thought of when I said mixed gender ensemble casts. Three to five protags, all differents yet all of them being friends, you can even throw a trap or a reverse trap in the group.

I've pitched the idea of a Harem Protagonist School before... Selection course has a 30% success rate, and at the end of the it graduates earn the SAS badge- because who dares, wins.
Naturally this would be beside the mahou shoujo school as well as the Maid Combat camp..

What I meant by "not alpha male", well, you know, the "uninteresting male lead who is an extreme doormat and is completely dense about the girls' feelings about him, and yet the girls are still into his shit-tier dick" kind of thing some people always rant about... So that brings the question of how savvy should the main male lead be in terms of romance. It's just so sad when people expect the main lead to become pro at romance despite being a complete beginner. Being good with girls is not something you can master in 24 hours! In some cases, it's a gift or talent rather than something you can improve with training. That said, I didn't like the "alpha male archetype" some Western people apparently crave for anyway, because they tend to be assholes who view women as sex machines. For me, a good harem hero should still value his harem members as much as anything else and thus treat each one of them kindly, and at the same time he should be able to stand up for himself when his harem members go overboard with their antics (such as the tsundere's "hyperactivity" and man-hating attitude or the master manipulator who takes advantage of his kindness). And then suggest this idea to Ryogo Narita, and tell her to have fun.

A harem anime where the "male" lead is actually a girl playing a guy for some reason. This "guy" (who's a tomboy that falls somewhere between Sayaka Miki and Amane from Strawberry Panic) attracts the love and attention of many girls. The girl playing a guy reveals her true identity to her many suitors until she finds the one that is cool with being in a girl-girl relationship, leading to your happy and conclusive yuri ending.
The ultimate fusion of harem and all-girls.

^^ I believe it has been done before, but I'm not sure. I'm guessing Maria Holic.
^ What he meant is that the show seems like a harem with a male MC at first, but the MC is later revealed to be female. |
