I just found it weird that what I consider to be one of the manga series with the biggest demand for an adaptation ends up with a prequel movie first, then an OVA later. It's just a weird order for me. But hey, at least you guys got your anime.
Personally, I wanted to see an Otoyomegatari anime series if only to see those lavish clothing in motion.

So did anyone else have a slacked jawed look of wonder on their faces?! The PV was AMAZING! If someone showed me this and told me it was a full length movie coming out in theaters I would not hesitate to believe them. I'm soooooo hyped for this.

Pretty good, pretty good ... this one has new footage different from the manga, but is not as effective ambience wise for me as the first one.
Still ... am glad to see it! Looking forward to it more now.

...Does anyone else think that 0:16-0:22 sounds a little bit like the beginning of Ratigan's theme song from The Great Mouse Detective? Not complaining, I just found it kind of amusing.

This is making me think that this story will be framed as a flashback, which probably makes the most sense, really. Just showing events from back before Chise met Elias would result in us missing a lot of what truly makes this series beautiful. However, setting such a story within the framework of their relationship having already begun and Chise reflecting back on her life before will give us the best of both worlds.

Shows a nice atmosphere.
Has quite the entrancing music. It gives off a somewhat charming impression. Almost seems like a healing type anime but there are shadows within the plot and the world it paints...can't wait to see how 'well' its adapted.

I haven't seen visuals this inspired from I.G. since Seirei no Moribito. I'm still surprised the production committee took the OVA/prequel route given the manga's massive popularity, but what I've seen so far is damn impressive.

Now here is a surprise!
http://www.crunchyroll.com/anime-new...-a-star-part-1 **** Edit: Just finished watching episode 1, and it was FANTASTIC. Wow. Everything about it was just ... great! One thing comes clear, though, and that is that the material in PV1 was excerpted at the least from a more than one episode. It looks like the 3 OVAs will be in the form of Chise telling a story to Elias for much of the time. The first 60% of the first OVA totally throws you into the story with almost no explanation or introduction to what is going on here (although manga readers would be thoroughly in the know, of course) and then the material focusing on Chise's time before she went to live with Elias and company took place. I don't want to go into too many other details for now, but I hope the rest of you will enjoy it as much as I did! Very much looking forward to the others OVAs, and hoping against hope that this series gets a full anime treatment equal to the lovely quality of what they have shown in the first OVA here!
