Yep, there was Rumble Garanndoll last year. And as I said above, I really hope this one goes either full comedy or full action instead of trying to balance being serious and being ham like that one did.

This was..... passible. I dig the aesthetics of the animation(kinda reminds me of Ganiax), but the over-the-top humor wasn't something I was expecting. I supposed that is to be expected when all of the antagonists' armies have cat heads and cat faces for some reason. The general flow of the show feels inconsistent to me, like it doesn't quite know what it wants to be. I don't think I'll be keeping this one... we'll see.
I feel fairly similar. This felt like I was watching a series where stuff happens to people and, as a viewer, I have no context on which to draw the emotions that the characters are feeling. Like, for example, at the beginning, Otaku Hero is exhausted at being the head of the resistance, but this is only like 4 mins into the 1st ep. It's hard to sympathize with this feeling when we barely know the guy. Later in the episode, Anarchy is crying because OH finally comes out of his rut. This feels like it should be a powerful moment between the two, and shows vulnerability in Anarchy's usual tough girl façade(a "cute" feature, for some), but I couldn't help but think that with all the things going on(she's always tough, then the attack on their zone) it felt like it was out of nowhere. It just didn't feel built up right. And it probably could have worked as-is, if this was a few eps in, where we get to understand the characters and their quirks(the scene itself, in a vacuum, is pretty solid), but nope. Makes me wonder if this was a mobile game, what, with the way they set up the characters( like you should have known them already).

This strikes me as a show that is desperate to be style over substance excepts that it fails at having style as well.
Has it even tried to give us any reason to care about anyone in the cast yet? And what is so great about "getting the band back together" when the best they could do when they were together is live like rats in a dump? |
