stuff that happened up till there...you know, school material. Shana getting lessons from Chigusa, Yuji training, Alastor talking to Chigusa while taped to a phone, Yoshida and Shana starting to argue about Yuji, etc. Twins show up in this one too, though I don't think they actually do anything yet (think the town goes fuzetsu at the very end)

It is worth noting though that so far this arc seems to be devoted to redacting the anime back to the same path as the novels. Events are proceeding differently, but they are serving the same purpose as some events that were left out of the first season or else changed from the novels in the first season.

So, I can say that it will probably return to where things got off track. But no promises because I cannot forsee the future.

So I guess there hasn't been any leaks or episode titles which might imply anything.

I know eventually the anime has to return to the novel storyline. I just hope they don't skip over any materials.

What type of sword is Nietono no Shana? I think I recall Yuuji referring to it as an Odachi... Or is it just a plain katana?

So in the novels, the last arc for season 1 (the Bal Masque, Fountain of Existence, Hecate x Yuuji) never happened?

katana has become a sort of umbrella term for curved japanese swords. But of course as with most things, there are various classifications:

Nietono no Shana is a 130 cm sword (108.3cm blade with a 21.7cm hilt). feel free to call it any name that applies.

nope, never happened. I suppose they did it because it wasn't very clear in the novels what exactly Bal Masque's objective was back during s1 production.

It is just a simple bonus where characters act weird, lots of comedy, lots of fun, and Shana becomes small.
It takes scenes from the actual show and modifies them into jokes as well.

Actually, a keeper is kind of a safeguard in the case a Hougu is taken, to my understanding, at least.

In ANN said that there are going to be 13 episodes??? is it true??? I thought hat the second season will have at least 24

look at the page again, it says they have 13 episode titles...though in fact they only have 6. and they don't have any listing for how many episodes the series is supposed to be. (though I think they just accidentally listed it as running time. 0_o)

main point is, the series is scheduled for 26, and ANN just has an incomplete page. happens all the time.

I know that there were key differences in the first novel between the Japanese version and the American version. Did VIZ make any editions in the second novel? (They kept the bath scene in)
