The first demo from IGN was running on a PC. This is also on PC, notice how it runs at higher framerates It's noticeable how it has affected the atmosphere. http://hexus.net/gaming/news/industr...ics-downgrade/

It looks to me like they simply downgraded the game's graphics itself, not that the consoles are running it worse in those gifs. Notice in the top row, how the entire color scheme has changed. That's not a difference in lighting strength, but just an elimination of the lighting in general from the game.

PC version will have higher framerates/resolution but the lighting is a completely different issue.
The PS3 also had a previous version with the lighting in those gifs (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A3MdOBH-jDc&t=3m49s). This lighting has since been removed from the retail version (which had the side effect of making torches useless except for a few areas). There is no guarantee the PC version will come with this lighting. Namco/From have stayed silent on the issue. |

Also, the media event prior to the release all had downgraded lighting effect.

Just as I've thought:
"Throughout the game development process, a game is constantly being balanced not only in game playability, but also in the realm of resource management” In other words, the consoles just couldn't handle all the textures and lighting effects. Of course, the game doesn't look bad at all for a past generation game.

So...What's the Undead Purgatory for? I've busted my ass, lost 20000 souls, grind through the trash mobs till they don't respawn, and used a gold pine resin to kill the Chariot and.... Got a midget waiting for me at the end of that?

That wee midget is the Brotherhood of Blood covenant leader. He will only speak with you if you have a token of spite (gained by defeating an opponent after invading them using red-sign soapstone, or by finding one in The Gutter).

I swear, some of these Boss fights looked so much easier on the youtube guides... ~_~ Oh well, back to progressing Earthern Peak... I want to finish that before tackling Lost Bastille... |

Wow, heads up- I've just started a new character and found out that FROM has moved around some chest item placement.
Most noticable one is that the chest in the map mansion doesn't have a Soul Vessel anymore, it now gives a Divine Blessing. In other news I've been doing lots of co-op boss battles with this new character, and jolly cooperation is jolly But for some reason I can't seem to get summoned after defeating the boss myself- Is it just as planned or just bad network/luck ? |

The bridge to Undead Purgatory on NG+ is a nightmare from the annals of Hell.
Instead of just 3-4 Tormentors, they're all now Red Phantom Tormentors plus a Red Phantom Sickle Zombie. The first one you can fight alone, but the other 3 and Sickle Zombie will all attack you at once if you engage one.

Just finished Dark souls 2 for the first time with a STR-build and i gotta say the improvements with the AI is well done, especially with the invaders and dark spirits being able to guard break and lunge attack frequently putting you on the edge.
Only let-down i guess was the final boss (it didn't have the final boss feel) and also the fact that there are too many healing items. PS: Ancient dragon is such a bitch |

Did a few dry runs of the optional boss of Iron Keep as a co op phantom, holy crap my drangelic sword was doing tiny damage to it the only time we beat it was when the host had lightning powers...
At the same time I'm farming the knights for gear... still need a captain's armor and maybe blacksteel... |
