Episode 2
Wow, this was another very tense episode and it didn't waste much time at all to show that. We got Masaru in trouble again but he does get help from Narumi and Shirogane. Quite frankly, I'm somewhat annoyed by Masaru's role so far since he's protrayed as being weak. On the other hand, I love watching Shirogane. Her actions are entertaining to watch especially when she and Narumi are together. Seems she's even useful around the house too with her cooking skills! Overall, a pretty good episode with a mixture of drama, comedy, and mystery too. I also kinda like they're moving the story without jumping the gun too fast.

Narumi and Shirogane are really great, this episode confirmed it. Masaru's backstory was quite cliché, but it was still hard not to feel bad for him. The poor boy never asked for any of this. He also has a rather noble goal, building/buying his mom a proper grave, so he's a very sympathetic character. You can definitely understand why Shirogane and Narumi want to protect him.

It does. Especially when you consider it looks like his grandpa was the one who took care of him and took precautions in order to ensure he would be safe if something happened. Nothing was said about the father beyond "he died in a suspicious accident".

Wasn't expecting them to try and provide an actual scientific explanation for Narumi's condition, but they did. It's also a hereditary condition apparently. Hopefully, it doesn't come up during a fight or any other unfortunate situation.

Lol, they're literally called Team Slaughter and Team Kidnap.
There were a few questionable things this episode as well but I'm totally digging Shirogane. I looked up her voice actor to discover that she's quite the veteran and it definitely shows here. I also noticed she voiced Hakumen no Mono in Ushio & Tora and I still remember how amazing that was. Quote:

Here's what I don't get - why would Shirokuma guy from Team Murder tell Rei Ayanami and Tora anything about Team Kidnap? How does that help him?
Apart from that, another really strong episode.

Beyond that who knows. Could be issues among the family that restrict him from straight up starting a small war with the kidnapping faction. Maybe the heavy hitters from his side are too far away or involved in other work. At the very least it's not a bad option for him. Get Masaru away from a large group of protectors and maybe get a chance to kill the kid during the rescue. If he does nothing then he's definitely not getting paid. So not helping out in this case doesn't benefit him at all.

It's confirmed that Masaru's father is a dick. He's obviously alive, since the entire thing seems to have been a set-up. I wouldn't be surprised if it turns out he killed his own father too, I don't think we were told about the circumstances of his death. Would give Masaru one more reason to after him. Cool character development by the way, even if it feels a bit fast, which is understandable.
Narumi and Shirogane got a really nice moment there. It seems like love might be the cure for Narumi's illness. His "joke" that Shirogane would become his woman is totally going to come true.

Masaru sure is lucky that he has Narumi and Shirogane because it seems like prior to that most of the adults he had in his life were scum. I just hope that the grandfather doesn't turn out to have also been evil this entire time.

I'm pretty sure the Grandfather was a good guy, although with both his sons being scum, it's normal to be doubtful.
At least Masuru has two people he can trust completely now, so some good came out of this.
