If that opening really depicts what's going to happen in the VN, that's way beyond what I imagined. Though Kotaro's beam sword is so Ryukishi!
What could be the new girl's significance? Looks like it was her shadow I could see on the moon in the original opening. Judging from the flash on Rewrite's home page, maybe she's actually the one who's fate could be rewritten? Or she's just April-tan.

And did Shizuru just dual wield some machine pistols?

So is this parodying some existing thing, or should I really look forward to seeing the "moon dinosaurs"? But it looks epic, nevertheless!
The video title says "Opening Anime" not "Anime Opening", by the way.

Like I said, it's real, Key wouldn't have it otherwise. So yes, you can look forward to the epicness.

And it's supposed to be opening animation, because we don't need an animated OP, we got a normal one long ago.

The movie's epic as hell and I kind of wish it were mostly real...but it's probably at least an exaggeration, as epic as that matching brand new CG on Shizuru's page is :P.

The hidden "real" announcement appears to be that there are 7 first press extras.

Perhaps a bit excessive, but that looks real to me

Think about it. Why would one hire an animation studio to make an animation reel, even as a joke? It isn't a cheap thing to do, and Key isn't exactly in need of ways to waste money here.

The new CGs, new character, and the pre-order store goods all correlate to the trailer's themes. Looking back on the old OP, you can see how the scenes fit in now as well. It still looks real enough to me.

Wow, I finally got around to playing an hour or so of the demo. Amazing stuff.

Also, I apologize if it came up earlier but can anyone tell me which option where takes you to the benchmark thing? I can't read Japanese ^^;

The blog confirms it as real, talking about how there's the demo/1st opening content and then there's the 2nd opening content, and hoping that the OP got more people excited about the game. Timestamp of the post is April 2nd.

Okay, I thought I was excited to read this before. Now I'm excited. (and I need a copy of the inevitable album release of that song...)

So many details that are interesting and/or lulwuut

-Kotarou gives a lot of Angel beats' Kanade for some reason (and obviously, wolverine as it looks like a three pronged claw form), especially how he draws out his "energy sword" at the early part

-Midou showing up like this pretty much "confirms" he won't just sit down and barge in the fray

-Sakuya and Yoshino "screentime" aren't exactly surprising considering we had a glimpse of that kind of stuff with promotional CG before

-Dinosaurs, Dragons... I can't even tell who was the madman behind that (Ryukishi drugged by Tanaka?)
Note that Kotarou blade is now shaped like a sword. So probably going to shape it depending of the situation.

-All girls got their action share except... Kotori and Kagari.

-Kenta-kun behind Akane...? Are they hinting something with Akane's route? Or perhaps messing around if Tanaka really is the scripter behind her

-Kagari, the "secret" girl is... grinning? Not really a pleasant one at that

-Akane's laptop is... a frigging alienware, talk about HARDCORE gaming (well, she was depicted like this, but didn't expect that extent

). I literally spit my drink when I've spotted that.

Can't wait for June.

Very hardcore vid. I'm impressed that they managed to keep this all under wraps until April Fool's Day.
