@roger-san: Can you rip the text out? I think it would be more convenient.

So I finally managed to get the mangagamer's version of this awesome game, but from what I understand the background music was changed. Is there anyway to inject the original japanese background music back into this release?

Spikexp: Could you check that the files haven't been corrupted?
$ md5sum orig-rom.nds mod.xdelta
ca48f96e442e40bc7a80b71254662406 orig-rom.nds
43df64166f4527f377457dd20376ec3e mod.xdelta

And, if you managed to produce a new .nds file:
$ md5sum new-rom.nds
f53540b27dd62adf5748d23a44fe9613 new-rom.nds

Exactly what do you mean by you haven't managed to get it to work?

Well, I manage to do all that with the exact same md5 as you.
I've use a xdelta gui on windows to have the rom patched.

The problem probably come from the fact that I don't have a DS and that i've only try with emulator.

Using an emulator is enough.
I used to do it (no$gba), there's no problem.

Well, I got the patched rom running on DeSmuME. What emulator did you use?

Okay, I've manage to made it run with DeSmuME, seem like the version I tried was an old version. Don't work with No$GBA (the original rom work but not the patched).

Well, now you only need some translator....

Sorry but I don't really get how to use this walktrough,mangagamers version does not have numbers before pieces. I thought at first that I am supposed to use the numbers of pieces from the connecting the pieces page in this forum or simply count from first page onward but one way or another the pieces can't even be connected if I use order from this walktrough can someone tell me what am I doing wrong?

No no, the walkthrough he made was saying what order to view them in.

For example the first piece you view is the top left piece on page two (Operation dam construction withdrawal), and the one listed as 2 in his walkthrough is the second one you view, which is second from the left on top on the 3rd page (Irie Kyousuke).

And you just keep going in the order it says. You see, the numbers on kj1980's walkthrough are arranged just like the menu.

Hello! I'm a bit embarrassed to drop by without anything to share and simply to ask a question, to top it off, but I really didn't know where else to ask and the FAQ thread seemed more appropiate for shorter, more specific questions.

Can anyone please tell me about Miotsukushi-hen? I've been searching on and off about it for the last few months, but my curiosity isn't satiated by the one-paragraph long-vague summaries anymore (though I'm still very thankful for them) I feel that I know a bit about is general storyline, but I'm more character-driven so what interests me the most are the details about what happens to everyone and what not. Specially Mion and Keiichi.

If anyone can help me out by telling me some details about them, I'd be eternally grateful Seriously. And of course, I'd like to thank everyone in this thread. It has always been very informative, so thanks for your hard work!

I have the mangagamer version of Higurashi Kai but I have a little trouble with the .arc data files, since my computer doesn't have a program to open them with. Could someone tell me what I should use to open them?

You don't open the .arc files...
You just need to open the BGI.exe to play the game.

A question about Rei, the VN gam itself not the anime. Is it similiar to Kai where it is split up into arcs like Meakashi-hen, Tsumihoroboshi-hen, Minagoroshi-hen, and Matsuribayashi-hen? Or is it in one game?

I don't think there is an English Matsuribayashi patch done, it is only up to the very beginning of Watanagashi... I heard there is some Minagoroshi patch, but I don't know where to get it. The above poster pointed you to the official English release, but it's not actually a patch, but actual commercial english version of the game. And if you don't have any of the English Kai arcs, I'd recommend this package over the link above, because the one above would only contain the last arc:
http://www.mangagamer.com/allages/Ti...ai-bundle-pack

I'm waiting for the Sonozaki Futagotachi patch for the originals, so I don't have experience of the Mangagamer version. It's nice to see some activity in that department, maybe the Himatsubushi patch will be ready within a year? I have no problem waiting, as I'm going to buy the games August 2012 the earliest.
