Instead of going home after school today, I went back to the bookstore with the terrible sign.

I took it and ran.

Spoiler for reenactment:

I think that's just the natural reaction for any human being, even one who's never heard of either series. That sign is gross.

But of course!

I'd like to think that the felt dango wedged in between the Zombie Survival Guide and Stuff White People Like along with the SOS-dan button on my bag make up for the gratuitous amount of Inuyasha.

I try to make up for my past.

Seriously. Burn the sign to hell, and chuck the ashes into the Ocean (or a large lake, whatever works for you...)

I'm fine with playing with matches, but I honestly don't know where I could burn it. Besides, Lake Ontario's an hour-long drive away from here. It's times like these when I wish I didn't live in the GTA.

Oh wait, that's, like...all the time. Always. Goddamn Greater Toronto Area, stealing acronyms from video games.

The closest lake from where I live is about as lame as lakes can get (which is sad, because they're lakes. What the hell?). The only mildly interesting thing that's ever happened there is the one time when someone found a piranha just sort of chilling in the water, doing whatever piranhas do. Piranha volleyball? Piranha theme parties? Even though there was just the one piranha? Uptalking?

...Yeah. It's an exhilarating life I live.

How the fuck do you find a piranha in Canada of all places? Don't they live in South Fucking America?

Guess it must have been someone's pet or something.

It was. People still tried to make it sound interesting. I guess it was a slow news day. Or month. Or year, or decade.

The local papers here are really pathetic.

I live in a small town too, so the papers here are just as pathetic. Seems to be a curse of uninteresting places where the only murder in ten years was some high school kid being beaten to death in his sleep by drugged-out friends.

Wad it up, put it under a rack of coals, and make delicious barbecue?

There's a murder at least every other week here.

...that doesn't sound good.

I don't know why the homicide stories never make it to the front page. The cover stories usually detail the events of a dance recital or a street sale or something, and then you turn the page and there's a colour photo of a corpse frozen for so long behind a dumpster that it fused to the chain link fence.

Pleasant.

Yeah, but where do I put the fire pit? I'm honestly considering burning this thing. I just have to either wait for a day when I'm home alone, or I have to casually grab a lighter from wherever things like lighters and matches are hidden.

Seems like the population would drop quickly depending on how small the town is.

Still better than Vancouver, though.

Maybe they want to make the newspapers "family friendly" by not putting violent news on the first page or something.

Wikipedia tells me that the 2007 population of Brampton was 452,000 people, with a growth rate of 6.6% annually. It also tells me that Punjabi is spoken more than French is, and that all the famous people that grew up here have moved as far away as possible. Thanks, Wikipedia.

That might be it...they tend to use the vocabulary a slow child in third grade might use. Also, gratuitous amounts of Clip-Art.

This would explain it, as you live in the 11th largest city in Canada whereas I live in a small town on the west coast with 1/37th the population of yours.

What the fuck kind of professional newspaper uses Clip-Art?

Not even my school paper used Clip-Art if I could help it.

Spoiler for reenactment:
I vote for burning it. With fire. Might even want to get a priest, or rabbi, or Richard Dawkins, or some other religious figure, in case whatever hellspawn that created it has somehow possessed it. And chuck those godawful Twilight books you've got there on the fire as well, while you're at it. I won't be able to take anything you say seriously until you do. Probably still won't since you bothered to buy them in the first place.

EDIT: Unless you are a teenaged girl, in which case I guess I can underst— No, I still can't take you seriously. Burn the Twilight books. With napalm if at all possible, but at least something along the lines of sterno.

EDIT 2: No, actually, if you are reading the Twilight novels, you obviously can't be left alone with a flammable substance, so just tear them up and flush them down the toilet.

Piranha. For when you can't afford a gigantic poisonous snake, you're allergic to rabid pit bulls, and besides, your lease only allows fish as pets.

But seriously, that's like unprofessional for bookstores to do D;
NONE of them would ever slap-stick a badly hand-written sign just for false-promoting a series to another at where I live.

Damn fangirls.

The Brampton Guardian, apparently. It also uses Comic Sans at every possible opportunity.

I didn't, actually. I stole them from my sister's bookcase. Please don't ever listen to her. I don't know why you'd be reading or hearing something she said, but it's a good rule to ignore her.

Except ignoring her leads to her being a pissy bitch and cutting the cord of your scanner because you unplugged her AirPort.

I'd gladly burn them. Once she moves back into her college residence. Then, anything she leaves at home becomes my property by default, like when she leaves thirty dollars worth of pennies in my room.

I don't know what the hell she was doing, but I hope she accomplished whatever she was trying to achieve.

WHY AM I STILL TALKING
