Kara no Kyoukai!

I am watching this right now,is there anything i should watch before to understand it better.I am watching the first movie and listening to all the terms like flying/falling.
The anime is beautiful and had wow moments but the storyline leaves me a bit perplexed.
Is there an anime series before this that i need to see.I am not googling info since i dont want unecessary spoilers. Please suggest another anime like this as well..

Watch it in this oder:

- Movie 2: Murder Speculation (Part 1)

- Movie 4: The Hollow Shrine

- Movie 3: Remaining Sense of Pain

- Movie 1: Overlooking View

- Movie 5: Paradox Spiral

- Movie 6: Oblivion Recorder

- Movie 7: Murder Speculation (Part 2)

Trust me, it's less confusing this way.

There isn't anything that comes before the events in Kara no Kyoukai or is necessary to see to understand the story. Kara no Kyoukai was original a novel, which explains the information dump you get.

The only thing that has some connection to Kara no Kyoukai are the visual novels and anime Fate/Stay Night and Tsukihime. They take both place in the same universe but aren't directly connected to Kara no Kyoukai.

Personally I found it more fun to watch it in its original order. That way you have to figure out yourself what has happened, until it revealed in the next movie.

But in chronological order, it makes more sense. Something less confusing is more fun to watch.

This applies even if you watch it in chronological order.

But in that case you'll only have to wonder what's going to happen next and not, how did that happen. There is at least a difference.

In the end it all comes down to personal taste.

Yes, but personal taste has nothing to do with this. I said if you watch it in chronological order, it's less confusing. That is an undeniable fact.

Whether or not you wish to watch it as a nonlinear or chronological, that is not my decision to make. I watched it when it was airing and then re-watched it again chronologically when it finished airing, so I know I enjoyed it twice as much.

Thanks Zwei, I was confused about it myself. I have watched movie one which made little sense, so I will start with movie two.

I never thought of this and now I plan to marathon the entire thing just like this. I wonder if I'll notice something I missed before?

If you liked Kara no Kyoukai you might like other Kinoko Nasu works, such as fate/stay night, Tsukihime (which is closely related to Kara no Kyoukai) and Canaan: 428 the Animation.

It's only the first four films that are in a different order. In all honesty I watched it in order they were released and didn't find it confusing in the least bit, I don't think it actually makes a difference.
