Just finished Fullmetal Alchemist. Suggestions for another series to read?

I just finished FMA, and I absolutely loved it. I've been watching anime a while, but FMA was the first complete series of manga I'd read and I thought it was just great. But now, I have no idea what to read... I think the thing I really enjoyed about FMA was the way that the story could go from serious fights, and plots to destroy the country, to mocking a character or making fun of the story itself! Anybody have any suggestions of what to read next? Thanks in advance for answers.

I kind of forgot... It may have been helpful to include that I'm in the middle of watching Fairy Tail, I've recently started watching DBZ, and I am reading One Piece alongside whatever else I'm reading. Figured with a bit more info, this will be easier!

Since you are reading/watching Fairy Tail, have you tried the mangaka's other works? Rave is a good read. Has both action and comedy.

Come to think of it, when I was at the library yesterday I saw Rave Vol. 1... I'll have to grab it next time.

Since you have liked FMA, try Buso Renkin : they both feature alchemy as the main theme, but the latter, although sets in modern Japan, has a good amount of badass action and comical relief.

Has anyone watched or read Black Cat? I was just reading about it, it sounds interesting.

Black Cat's flow of story is not smooth. When the anime enters its second phase, the events feel very rushed. Still, if action+comedy are what you are looking for, Black Cat is one you should look out for.

I might check it out even if it does seem rushed... Granted, one of the things that was so good about FMA was the pacing.

Alright, one more question then I'll leave everyone alone! How is Hunter X Hunter? I keep seeing the name around, and it sounds interesting.

The title focuses on a young boy searching his father for a rather particular reason while he meet plenty of friends and struggles amongst many dangerous quests. Moreover, the plot isn't your typical shounen title, as it may be getting darker latter on. The pacing is good, despite suffering terribly from a long amount of breaks (as the manga is still ongoing in Japan) due to its author's health, otherwise it was excellent.

As I said, it's still ongoing, despite the high amount of hiatuses between new chapters.

I know a few of my manga buddies are pissed off that Hunter x Hunter keeps going on hiatus...But there's a whole load of chapters that you have to read, so yeah, plenty of time to wait for the mangaka to resume.
