But Kanbaru's voice is totally perfect, and when I say perfect I mean that it was just how she sounded in my head when I read the novel. She does the track titles on the drama cd, but she doesn't actually speak in the Bakemonogatari novels.

I've read Omni's blog. I'm a bit confused with schedule. To put it more simple. We will get SP episode on today (7 August). Episode 6 on tomorrow (8 August) and episode 7 on 21 August, right?

I don't mind Shinobu voice, not that there's to much to judge (and of course I didn't read the novels).
With the drama cd I found this little tribute/crossover (and probably the best MAD about bakemonogatari I've seen floating around) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NcybcUOqi6g Sorry if it's a repost (it's difficult to keep track of all this messages ) |

Looks like SP is just a normal recap episode with a bit of Koyomi's narration. No need to watch it. (Yuma lies!) Though, I heard they used the second verse of Hitagi's OP as an insert song.
Schedule: August 8 - Suruga Monkey Part One August 21 - Suruga Monkey Part Two |

Haha, well it's not like how it once was.
I remember in the 90s (the last true sitcom age) where you would one almost every season or two and you're like WHAT A RIPOFF. I never saw the point in doing it for this kind of series, there hasn't been linear development along a set path (romance aside) and quite frankly (for Tv audiences) if you weren't on the boat at sendoff, no way you're getting the ride now. |

Actually, I thought the recap episode was pretty enjoyable. Knowing what was going to happen, I could concentrate on appreciating the animation and the voice-acting. And of course, it was great to see the top scenes again. Not that I haven't been rewatching the episodes anyway, lol.
I also listened to part of the drama CD. I only heard Hirano do the chapter titles. Did she do anything more? I liked her voice in those: in the splushy direction of Konata, but not with the same tone. More childish and cute, it seemed to me, and even more extreme. I thought the way she said "ho-ukago" instead of "houka-go" was hilarious. Sort of like saying "afteh raschool" for "after school." I haven't read any of that part of the novel, however, so I don't have a clear idea of what kind of voice would be best. I think there could be some gravitas lurking deep inside there. We'll see if it comes out in a real episode, when she says more, and her lines are more meaningful. I may be wrong, but I think that drama CDs are like practice sessions for the anime that they record and sell to make some more money. Is that other people's impression? Maybe sometimes they're even used as demonstration projects to convince producers to make an anime?

There are some anime that do really good recaps that are actually interesting enough to watch though. Out of just my memory, Speed Grapher's was probably the best I've seen so far. In fact, that recap was actually more interesting than the few episodes that lead to it...
