Finally managed to finish watching the show. Having watched all the way to the end, all I can say is, It was great, but it sucked!
The idea that the earth and the water is alive is so stupid as to be ludicrous. Great animation and cool realistic character design aside, the core plot was such nonsense that it totally distracted from the show. The filler episodes didn't help either. Half the time I couldn't tell if they were shooting for a slice-of-life type show like Aria, or a more dramatic show like Seirei no Moribito. By going for a mix, they failed at both. One final comment I have to make. My favorite character of the show was Sayaka. She was such a cutie. Minamo was pretty good too though, her ditziness got irritating occasionally. Anyway, thanks Ureshii and Saizen for taking the trouble to sub this. I did enjoy watching it, but I don't think I'll ever watch it again. |

Finished watching it, I liked it if only cause it was "different". Very plot intensive show however, so spreading it out across over 9 months to watch wasn't very condusive to me grasping all of the plot, im up for a re watch of it in a while though.
I recommend it for some one looking for a different kind of sci-fi show. (I still really dig the character designs too) |

Whats more disturbing... Well consider, Haru may be an old man in years, but not in his mind. He was what, late 20s, early 30s when he went into his coma, when he wakes up, 50 years have gone by. But to his mind, hes still his same age. Much closer in age to Minamo then the old man. Sure, still is rather far apart, but not all that far. And at the end, the "final gift" so to speak deals with that.
I did think HolonxSota was weird, but that was because here he has the real thing, and he throws it away for something modeled after her. That was sad. Though a young guy like him hooking up with a much older woman was a bit odd too so, what can I say, weird show relationship wise. |

I'd say so. It's easily one of my favorite shows of last year.
A+ character interaction and character development, along with the level of sci-fi you'd expect from a Shirow show. It's slice of live Ghost in the Shell.

Yeah, I agree with some of you guys concerning the weird romances near the end, that was really weird.
I also think that the story was way rushed in the last episodes and everything was like a soup of action with sci-fi in it, a little confusing and without the correct answers. The director probably messed it all up.
