Last edited by RandomGuy; 2009-07-26 at 08:01. |

Naturally,"watashiha ~suru tsumorida". not I,so"・・・ga ~suru yotei da."is natural. 同じ学校に~の一文がやはりわからない・・・ I don't understand "onaji gakkou ni~" この文から把握した内容↓ これであっている? I understand thing from the writing,is this right? 先生から話を聞いた。 ask teacher about it. それによると、altのみんなはルール以上に長い休暇を取っている。 and,al of ALT have long break more than rule. しかし、僕は(ルール違反で)首になりたくない。 but I don't wanna be kicked out for violation. だから、困っている。 I'm pinched for that. Guys guys, even if this is a learning thread, don't forget to at least romanise all your kana/kanji only sentences and explainations for those whose literacy level isn't as high as yours.
There's some things from mendokusa that while it's good (i assume you're native) to have linguistic, historical references to some of those verb conjuctions, if it gets on a 1-1 level, you can continue it on your profile walls, or even in the 'Learning Japanese, Upper level' thread, which you can really go into detail with kana and kanji stuffs. But as of lately, it feels kinda too heavy in here for beginners or novice level questions and answers, was kinda light and fun before, but as of recently my brain just shut down from the earlier, long linguistic posts that are written here... :\

For simple answers, this thread is okay.
But for some of the very deep explainations, then yes, perhaps it's better to continue to the 上級 thread. 問題によって、ね mondai ni yotte - Depends on the question asked. ただの個的な意見だけど。 tada no koteki na iken dakedo That's just my two pence, there (more commonly known as "two cents" for the expression, although it is of Brit Eng origin, interesting...)

えくぼ・・・dimple but "あばたもえくぼ" another mean. It's that negative parts become positive parts because of patronage . btw,I think ””アバタもエクボということはありえなかった。” and ”~ということはありえなかった。" is "It couldn't be that~." translation It couldn't be that negative parts become positive parts because of patronage . |

mendokusaさんの翻訳は正しいけど、それは着翻訳です。
言い換えれば、「love is blind」とも言えます。「アバタもエクボ」ということは諺ですからね。 この場合、完全分は「it couldn’t be that love was blind」になります。

Ehh, I dunno, actually. I mean, you have a point, and while there is an upper-level thread it's kinda unfair to "kick someone out of a thread." I guess what it comes down to is, on one hand it's unfriendly towards novices, and on the other hand it's unfair to advanced students and native speakers. Oh, and I apologize for not responding in Japanese, my production capability is currently nowhere near my comprehension level. Oh yeah, and @(*&!! encoding. >_<

"love is blind(恋は盲目)"is difference from ”あばたもえくぼ”.
”あばたもえくぼ”is not only love, but also friendship and anything. because of that, bad thing look like good thing. "恋は盲目(恋は闇love is darkness)"is because of loving someone, can't see without someone. these sentence is not ことわざ, but 慣用句(kann・you・ku) Raigaさん there is some comprehension level, but if you write down whatever you don't understand,I will answer the question. which is your level 1 class or 4 class? I don't know.Just I answer your questions until you undersand. |

慣用句は四字熟語のような表現ですね。もちろん、他の表現がたくさんあります。たとえば、「暖簾に腕押し」 のことです。 Quote:
実は「諺」と「慣用句」は意味に近いだと思います。
